Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich
Ali S.

No notes here, just amazing food and a cozy family dining room feel here. I'd love to come back next time and try the shrimp and grits, because I ordered a side of them and they were INCREDIBLE! Never had grits that creamy. Portions are a decent size and the service was friendly. The cafe Au Lait is delicious but be warned it is very sweet!

My fiance and I went here for brunch and came out of it ready to take a nap. The bowl that I got was really tasty and so filling, and my fiance got a unique spin of french toast sandwiching thick bacon pieces with syrup and really tasty gravy (ask your server if they know about this, it's the bomb!). The drinks were also very good. My lemonade and his nitro coffee was well made. The space is on the smaller side. It has a bar in the middle, but not a lot of seating indoors. Although the place has outdoor seating, there is no covering/awning so you're pretty much exposed to rainy/cold weather--at least when we saw it. If you do choose to sit inside and it gets really busy, it can get quite crammed. But on slower days, it's a cozy place to be! The building is tucked in and almost kind of hidden, so it gives a little bit of privacy from the busy streets of Norfolk. The parking right outside the building is very limited and tight, so you might have to do some street parking on their busier days. The waitress we had was very friendly and personable. It was a very chill brunch experience all around!

What a very funky and cool place for brunch (and possibly more, but we were there for brunch). The service was top-notch, the food was great, and the brunch cocktails were very good. The neighborhood isn't particularly attractive, but Toast has done a great job with the landscaping and decor. It feels a bit like an 'oasis' from fairly drab surroundings. Wish we'd taken pics of the food and drinks to share them, but we were having to much fun chatting with our friends. Highly recommend this place!

Another solid brunch experience close to home. Good service, yummy food, and a drink made for my wife just the way she likes it (and how she describes me) -- sweet and strong! Carnitas w grits was fab (repeat performance). Wide enjoyed the Avacado toast. We sat at the bar to avoid waiting for conventional seating but lost nothing experience-wise.

Hash Hash'n Beans Bowl (left) SOS Plate Brunch (right) Kids waffle (back left corner)
Gabby R.

The hash bowl was very heavy and a large portion. If it has a little less sauce it would be easier to stomach all in one sitting SOS plate was yummy. A little salty but overall delicious We sat inside and we still had a lot of flies and no way to keep them away. The temperature was warm but not intolerable. Service was great.

Spicy Bloody Maria

The Spicy Bloody Maria is THE WAY TO GO if you're a big bloody mary fan. All the garnishes are pickled perfectly and go very well with the cocktail. The breakfast food and sandwiches are all very good too. I highly recommend coming here for the Sunday brunch. Usually, the service is decently fast if you sit at the bar, and all the bartenders/waiters/waitresses are very nice. Every year, they love doing 12 Nights of Old Fashioneds in December for the holiday season, and it is POPPING from 7-11pm here. They share their parking lot with perro blanco, if there are no spots, street parking is encouraged. They also sell/use the lupo hot sauce form perro blanco, which is a great hot sauce I recommend putting on top of the eggs or eating with tater tots.

City Slicker Sandwich with spring mix side salad

The first time I went I was a bit underwhelmed but I recently went a second time with a much better experience! The menu has a lot of options, the service is friendly, and an earthy, refined space where hipster creativity meets hippie soul, all in a chill, inviting atmosphere. I got the City Slicker sandwich and the French toast bread pudding, both were yummy! The sandy reheats well the next day for breakfast too. (The rewards program has a nice birthday perk, yall) They have a bar but I don't drink, but would recommend for a bite to eat, a place to chill indoors or outdoors in nice weather, alone or with friends.

I absolutely love this place. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You are greeted immediately upon entering. It's not a very large place but there's seating right outside with additional seating out back. It's a good thing they have so much space because they are always packed. I tend to get the same thing when I go because to me it's total perfection. Their chili and hash bowl is comfort food at its finest. This time around I also tried their homemade pop tart. What a treat!!! All those flaky layers and the perfect amount of sweetness leaves you wanting more. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You will definitely be very happy.

Very good service and the food was excellent. The service was great and very pleasant atmosphere

Went on a Thursday. We were the only ones in there for a while. The service was okay. I ordered a whiskey sour and the waitress didn't give me an opportunity to pick my options of whiskey brand. Even though they were listed on the menu. It was like she was in a hurry. But we were the only ones in there. She did the same thing with the check. Just seemed to rush and seemed annoyed. The food was good. Very different, but good. We were there for dinner but will go back and try their brunch one day.

Park Place (subbed grits for chili)
Julie R.

Excellent! Eggs Dubb is comforting: Cheesy, perfect soft eggs, and bacon cuts through. The salad is a perfect fresh pairing. Park Place is well-balanced. The Lupo sauce adds a great kick to the chicken. Shared a puff tart, and this is nothing like a mass produced pastry! A decadent sweet treat!

Quiche and tots. Yes that's an old fashioned in the background. Don't judge.
Robert F.

An absolute gem! Stopped in for breakfast and could not be more happy. This is a great looking place in a historic building. The staff are great. I had the quiche and it was amazing. Light fluffy and perfectly seasoned. The French pastry crust was perfectly browned and buttery.

Here's my reservation that they said didn't matter

There's now a security table/desk where the DJ booth used to be; definitely wasted space where more tables and chairs could've been added instead. Had to stand for about 10 mins before some people finally left then we had to like "hurry" to get the seats before anyone else got them. We needed an extra chair at our table and went up to the security to ask if he knew where anymore could be or if we could borrow the one that was behind his table since he seemed to only be standing all night, but he responded kind of harsh with a stern "NO"....def unnecessary. Even though he was rude, the bartenders were the opposite, making funny light conversation and friendly while we ordered and waited for our drinks. The atmosphere was a nice, chill, and intimate vibe, with red/orange lighting. To drink: I tried the Saturn (8/10) it was pretty good, I liked the flavor, but there really didn't seem to be much alcohol in it fr. To eat: we ordered a Margherita Pizza and added Pepperoni (10/10) it was fresh, flavorful, and all around really good. There were hints of spice in the sauce that really added to the flavors. Their pizza seems to be a popular menu item as I seen pizza boxes on almost every table throughout the night. Def will be back again, but next time, we're going to get there early, so we can have a table for the night. Looked like once people secured themselves a table in here, they held it all night long and never moved / left till closing. My overall rate of experience : 7.5/10

You just immediately are very pleased with everything I would recommend trying them out when they come through again and they do pop in quite frequently at this lounge and this was my first time ever trying them out and I'm very pleased of the service as well as the introduction of each component of the dish, the cooks were very friendly, as well as given us guidance of what choices to choose from based off of the menu. The menu does change each time they do come so items that you will see will vary, depending on what they are putting on for the menu. We try their Sicilian sashimi that was definitely a 10 out of 10 and good for people that want to kind of share rather than have a full plate is definitely well proportion as well as light and not too heavily in on the pallet. The vibes vary from day to day depending on what time you get there it can get really packed so the earlier the better if you want more of a calm night I would suggest getting there early rather later cause that is usually when the dj that are going on that night come in that's usually there peak time. The drinks are well crafted I tried their cocktail called Saturn it had a sweet taste and was more of tropical with the passion fruit perfect pairing with the raw fish dish we tried tonight. If you're looking for a spot that has more of chill vibe and has good music with different styles and beats each day this is the place for you.

When arrived looks pretty much like former restaurant less decorations. Two groups seated about eleven persons. Bar was empty. Slowly filled two more tables and three or four at the bar. About 20 persons in total. Most of the visit, only single waitress serving tables and bar as long with busing tables. Kitchen is semi open. Only one person could be send in kitchen. Two persons only seemed understaffed for near full menu service and bar. No bus person, kitchen help, runner, or dish washer seen. Menu Asian fusion for lack of better term. Ordered scallion pancakes and spicy spring rolls. Service slow.... After ordering. Pancakes are one of my favorite snacks. Order portion size was large for appetizer. Scallion pancakes should be chewy with a flakey crust, savory with an onion punch from the scallions. These were chewy with no flakiness at all. Sort of like a flour tortilla with onion in the mix. The dip was like extra salty soy sauce spiked with raw ginger, strong and almost inedible. Then about five minutes later spring rolls arrived. Piping hot then down hill. First impression,, over cooked and greasy. Did not appear to have been drained. two small puddles of oil in dish below rolls. Sort of cross between lumpia and cha gio with appeal of neither. Noodles and meat wrapped together and fried. Favors muddled and greasy. Dipping sauce not much either. As a person who has sat through many food handlers permit classes. I witnessed a no-no with the waitress. Concerning.... It appears that disjointed service front to back needs improvement. Like location and ideas but without consistent execution it will likely fail in long run. Will be back?? Not likely Never say never. If still open this time next year?? Plus next block up there is very good ramen/Filipino/Vet place.

Another thing that was odd is that I asked for the eggs to be scrambled hard, they were not. I cannot eat soft scrambled eggs, something about the texture just doesn't work for me.
