Food: I ordered Da Club. $20. YES, $20 for a club samich; thought it was ridiculous also. However, I'd been warned it was HUGE .... and it was. As soon as it was delivered to the table, I ask for a 'to go' box. It was good - and would recommend it - and get it again if I return. Brought the other 1/2 home to hubby, so $10 samich for me, and $10 samich for him. Service: Sarah (I believe) was her name. Excellent, friendly, professional. Ambiance: Yes, as many others have said, it's LOUD. My friend & I sat right across one another and even then, at times it was difficult to hear. ALSO as others have said, automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill, regardless of how many in your group. Once Sarah brought the hand held 'bill' to me (computer device), she did inform me of the 18%. No paper receipt, but I didn't ask for one. Wish it would have been offered. read more

Still one of our favorite brunch spots (top 3) in the area, and with it being less than 2 miles from where we live, it is such a treat to have. They've made some updates since my last review. I noticed they swapped out the bar stools for what seem to be a bit more accommodating in style. They added cushion to the church benches, although they are a bit "grippy". They updated the other bar and also the outside area. I believe they have a cornhole section and from what I could tell, an area that could be really fun during the warmer months. The overall vibe is so quirky, cool, different, and I just love how it's decorated. The other locations have the same sort of intrigue but in much different ways. I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Another positive is the food quantity, quality, and price for what you are getting. Sure, almost every food establishment had to raise their price, but Bay Local seem to be very reasonable, ESPECIALLY for what you get. I know several other places that have good food, but you are paying several dollars more for what Bay Local offers that is similar (in some cases) but not slacking on portion control and quality. That is huge! Bay Local is a "well-oiled machine" with management, staff, and operations (not their first rodeo). The staff are attentive, friendly, fast in service, including fixing anything that may not have been correct, and still hold the quality of what they offer. To start, when you walk in, it looks so much smaller than it is. The vibe is so chic and trendy. It really feels like a place for everyone, you could come in dressed in shorts and a t shirt or a nice dress. It's upscale casual, which is perfect for literally any time! The portions are HUGE and the drinks are phenomenal. I had a specialty latte & let me tell you- worth. It! we came for brunch this visit but I cannot wait to go back for dinner. They were busy but hustling, not a long wait at all even though it was a Sunday during prime time. The waitresses were attentive & fast paced. Everyone worked as a team so no one was forgotten which was great. 10/10 recommend & I cannot wait to go back. This location does have tight parking and because the location is a little small, accommodating large groups seemed to be possible but with a wait & a little tricky. Best bet would be to call ahead for groups larger than 4 & be patient while waiting. Bar area is first come first serve (there's 2 bar locations, one central dining and one small one in the back of house). A nice option if grabbing brunch/lunch if you're in the Red Mill area or before or after visiting Owl Creek Landing, Adventure Park or the Aquarium especially if you want to avoid the summer chaos at the oceanfront. Parking isn't as challenging as it's located in the parking lot area of a strip mall. So if their lot is full, you can easily park in the general shopping lot. Food is great and plentiful! There is an abundance of seating inside and they do offer outside seating. It gets extremely busy so either come really early or at least an hour prior to closing. It gets quite loud inside, so if you're looking for a calm, quiet atmosphere probably aim to dine outside. I ordered their wings appetizer as my entree and added some parmesan tater tots. Wings were fantastic, crispy and filling. I asked for buffalo flavor and a side of old bay . The wings are a fairly good size! I ended up eating 4 of the 10 wings and was full. They do have 3 locations - shore drive (closer to lynnhaven inlet), laskin (closer to oceanfront ) and general booth location (closer to Sandbridge). One of the my favorite restaurants in Virginia Beach. There is a great vibe here - it is very bright, updated, and clean. They have good brunch deals and live music. I ordered the Fried Chicken BLT. It seems simple on the menu under the BLT section, but this sandwich is great. It is a big portion and a big piece of chicken on the sandwich. Paired with the regular BLT ingredients, made it a great sandwich. The fries were excellent too. They were similar to a potato wedge in texture, but more of a fry instead of a wedge, which I liked. It was time to eat and I had no idea where to go. My Bestfriend said she wanted a waffle and to sit outside so I headed to the Yelp Search to see where we could go. Bay Local was easy to find and the 6.8 mile ride wasn't bad at all. We pulled in, found a parking spot, and headed inside. The hostess was at the stand and greeted us with a bright smile. I advised we needed a table of 3 and added my name to the list. She advised it was about a 45 minute wait and I didn't mind waiting. As we waited, we sat outside in the seating area. The ambiance is very casual and the bench style seating coupled with the archway adds such a cozy feeling to the exterior atmosphere of Bay Local. About 30 min into my 45 min wait my table was ready. We headed in and were immediately taken to our seats. The inside ambiance is amazing. Super vibrant, great use of space, and a beautiful use of plant, art, and lighting design. Cursing the menu made me smile as the options are so enticing and there was nothing I didn't want to try. lol. The hostess was super sweet and arrived at our table within moments of being seated. She welcomed us in, took our drink orders, and allowed us time to cruise the menu further. Guess What... They have Sweet Tea!!!! I was sooooooo excited. lol. Once she was back, we were ready to place our order. I decided on the Buttermilk Pancakes with Bacon for my meal and I was in anticipation for what was to come as everyone's food around me looked and smelled amazing. The Arrival... My wife and I stopped by Bay Local for breakfast and split the Big AL--it was fantastic, with some of the best gravy I've had at a restaurant. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere inside is bright and lively, making it a great spot to start the day. Prices are also quite reasonable for the quality of food and service. The only downside was that an 18% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. I understand it for large parties, but since it was just the two of us, it felt unnecessary. Probably my favorite location for Bay local. The inside is casual, bright, and welcoming. It was very festive and loud while we had brunch but I enjoyed the ambiance nonetheless. I had the One Love breakfast which offered a variety of options. So for those of us that want a little of everything, this is the perfect dish. I had my eggs over hard with their Parmesan tots, roasted avocado, salad, tortillas and a scoop of their chicken salad. I was so full, by the end I took home the chicken salad and greedily inhaled it as a snack later. This speaks volumes as I am not a leftovers kind of gal! I've been a fan of Bay Local since the opening of their first location on Shore Drive. Today they have three locations with there newest on General Booth that I dined at today for lunch. Parking is challenging nearby when busy. However there are plenty of overflow behind them. The lot and walk up was tidy. My wife and I were greeted by a hostess and provided menus. Our waitress rolled up to our interior table with water and a reserve bottle. The atmosphere is open with lots of nautical items. The owner Adrian is a huge outdoorsman. His wife Whitney is the fabulous decorator of all three locations. The interior is divided up into three sections. All seating is table and chairs. The main bar is up front with restrooms. There is a small bar in the rear in operation on weekends. The exterior areas is where they really shine. The front has major seating space. The back has a nice area with a small bar operating on weekends when busy enough, which is often. There is also corn hole and other fun games. Orders were taken and my wife got a burger with side of their famous tots dusted with Parmesan. I got the ten Parmesan wings app which is large enough for lunch size. Our waitress was friendly and smiled. The main issue with indoor seating is the noise. With around 50% capacity occupied it was almost unbearable. So do consider outdoors if noise bothers you. Our food hit the table by a runner in around 15 minutes. Everything looked great, but they forgot my request for additional napkins request when I ordered. The wings are a wee bit messy. My wife enjoyed her burger and tots. The burger was cooked to her specifications. My wings were phenomenal with two blue cheese tubs. A side of carrots and celery is included. Checkout was timely on a hand held machine. They do an automatic 18% tip with customers having the ability to add an additional 3,5,7% or leave as is. Have tried this brunch spot several times and really want to like it. If you can get past the noise level then you will be impressed by the delicious food. We were a party of 5 and were seated next to a VERY loud party of 8. We suffered through the noise only to have a second large party seated on the other side. We eventually moved outside to the patio to be able to enjoy our meal and conversation. The location needs to do something to reduce the noise level. What a beautiful restaurant. My first time here but definitely not my last. The restaurant is currently decorated for Christmas and over 90% of the decor I would've picked for my own home. Having said that, I think they have impeccable taste. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant and even though there were plenty of patrons, we were seated on the spot. I was not prepared for the yumminess that we all enjoyed (party of 4). My daughter and I started with mimosas (strawberry and pomegranate) and they were both delicious but I preferred the pomegranate one. Can't wait to try some of the other flavors. My daughter ordered the avocado toast, I ordered their candied pecan French toast bites platter with a side of Parmesan tater tots. The amount of bites that came on that platter is intimidating. Three of us picked at it the whole time we were there and I still had enough leftover for an average portion. My husband ordered the crab cake bennie and my son-in-law got the po-boy. I've been to this Bay Local twice, and first time was for to-go, the second was dine in. (Disclaimer: They don't do to-go when they're busy so don't get surprised if they refuse.) The to-go experience was good. I ordered the Jamaican Rum French toast and the Breakfast Burrito for my bf. I've had the Jamaican Rum French Toast from the other location and the one I got here was just as good, but they forgot to put the fruit cup in my box. The Breakfast Burrito was super value because of the size. The ingredients were fresh too. However, the chips that came with it were too hard. The dine-in experience was meh. The service was good but the fried food was too spicy. I ordered the special: Soft-Shell Crab Bennie with parmesan tater tots, and my bf ordered the Bay Local Bennie. The batter for their fried items (Soft-Shell Crab from my bennie and Oysters from my bf's ) were too spicy and salty. My bf couldn't eat his oysters cuz he can't eat spicy at all. Although I'm okay with spiciness, I probably would order something else if I know it was spicy cuz it was 7am and I wanted something with lighter spice. The tater tots had no parmesan cheese but at least it was hot and crunchy. The Soft-Shell crab itself was fresh, just didn't like the batter. Looks like I have a new favorite dish at Bay Local. I ordered the Lobster Benny (eggs benedict) and it was the most delicious meal I've had at Bay Local! I usually get the crab cake benny, but this one takes the cake! It comes with 2 small lobster rolls filled with buttery garlicky goodness and topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce and fresh dill. My side was parmesean tots and it paired so well! My dish was only about $23 which I think is wonderful, given how much lobster rolls usually are. The lobster benny is unfortunately a special so I'm not sure how much longer it'll be on the menu. We also got a hazelnut latte which was really good and balanced (I like my coffees sweet but not TOO sweet). My friends got chicken and waffles and blueberry pancakes and loved their dishes as well. Our server Natalie was amazing and checked on us often. She was very accommodating to our large group size. There were plenty of other servers that assisted our table as well in regard to refills or taking up used/dirty plates. We went to the location on general booth and this was my first time going back since the summer and it was still pretty packed and busy (on a Saturday morning)! I love the layout and decor at the new Bay Local Eatery location. The food was mediocre in comparison to the price. We had a few strict diets in our group so there was a request to alter certain items on the menu. This request is done graciously but with an a la carte charge. I ordered the Sammie which l was thrilled to eat but was unable to finish it. About halfway through the sandwich I bit into a piece of wax paper that is used to divide cheese in packaging. I had trust issues with the remainder of my bites thinking l was biting something else that was not edible. Thankfully, we were able to be seated right away. As we sat down and looked over the menu, the noise from the people was very loud, we could barely hear ourselves talk. I started with the Mango Sorbet Mimosa which was very good. I knew I wanted an omelette with crab and veggies so our wonderful waitress suggested I order the Chicks Beach Delight Omelette (which is their veggie omelette) and add crab, so I did just that and also asked for Hollandaise sauce on top! I also chose the Parmesan Garlic Tater Tots as my side. The food came out very quickly and listen...my omelette was AMAZING!!! There was an abundant amount of lump crab in my omelette and all the veggies were fresh and delicious! The Parmesan Tater Tots also tasted wonderful! My daughter ordered the Fried Biscuit with her meal and when I tasted it, I had to order more. The Fried Biscuit was tossed in cinnamon sugar and topped with powdered sugar, it tasted like a churro biscuit! Absolutely amazing! Needless to say, we didn't have any food to take home because we cleaned our plates, the food was delicious. The staff was also extremely helpful and very personable. I've only been to one other Bay Local location and LOVED my meal, so last week, my husband and I were in the area and decided to check out their newest location on General Booth. It was early on a Friday morning, so we were seated right away. - Parking - Private lot. - Vibe- WOW! The design of this place is absolutely stunning! From the time you walk up to the entrance, to the time you leave, there are so many things to look at! It's Coastal Living mixed with old. If I'm not mistaken, the've incorporated some antique church windows and I believe they have some pews in there for seating (I think that's what my husband was sitting on). It's very spacious, lots of light and just so many things to look at. I LOVED it! They also have quite the outdoor patio area and great for the upcoming warmer months. - Sips - Mocha latte - it was great! They use Segafredo coffee here. - Noms - Based on my bennie at the previous location (I got the Bay Local bennie which is made with fried oysters), I stuck with the bennies for this visit. I decided to switch it up though and got the fried chicken bennie. The chicken was great, loved the hollandaise sauce and it's paired with sauteed spinach and bacon bits. I did think that the eggs were a tad overcooked, but I still enjoyed the meal! It really is a big meal though, so I ended up packing up the other bennie to take home. Breakfast burrito - this was a massive burrito and my husband enjoyed it. He too, packed up a good chunk of it to take home. This dish only comes with tortilla chips and does not have the option to switch it out to another side. - Things to note - *an automatic 18% gratuity is added to every check, regardless of party size *menu items cannot be altered *they have an early bird menu, which is great for more economical options Overall, the place is absolutely stunning and fun with great food and generous portions.
