Quemar has been on my list for a while since it's right down the street from my office, but since they aren't open for lunch, I never got around to trying it until recently. My husband, best friend, and I went during happy hour, and I was impressed by how many items were on the menu. We started with the chips and guac (even my guac-hating husband liked it!) and the wings with the server's recommendation of blueberry BBQ sauce. It sounds unusual, but it was SO good. They only have chipotle blue cheese for dipping, and as someone who isn't a big blue cheese fan, I was surprised by how much I liked it. All three of us ordered the smashburger and fries from the happy hour menu for $12. This was a true smashburger with thin patties with crispy edges, not the thicker burgers a lot of places try to pass off as one. I've been thinking about it ever since. I'll definitely be back, especially since happy hour is extended until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Next time, I want more wings and to try the tacos. Went here tonight for my wife's birthday as she really wanted to try it. Valet was nice although I'm not sure it was necessary on a Wed night. We went in and were seated and after about 20 min of waiting I had to ask the door person if we could have a server to which she responded, "oh". Hit some buttons and then we got a waiter a few min later. Appetizers were very good, but the main courses varied wildly. My filet was overcooked the mashed potatoes were very bland. My wife liked the fish she got. When we were done, our waiter grabbed some plates and a fork fell almost hitting my son. He apologized and then picked up another plate and dropped a butter knife on him staining his shirt. They did comp an appetizer for the wait without me saying anything. Came here for my friend's bridesmaid proposal dinner. We started with ordering off the happy hour (we love a Saturday happy hour) I got a cucumber margarita and a glass of wine which were $5 & $7. My husband and I tried Quemar (finally!) and man this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere was super elegant and I felt slightly underdressed when I walked in lol, the environment was kind of fancy and nice. I would wear a little nicer than casual clothes. They also only do valet parking so keep some cash on you as well. Our service was amazing, our server was very attentive to details like our allergies and accommodations. She was super bubbly and checked on us often but not too overbearing. Our food was sooo good I definitely am already planning my return lol. We started with the Salsa Roja and I don't like spicy too much so this level was perfect for me. Surprisingly didn't cause acid reflux which is typical for me haha. The Esquites was really good! I kind of wish it came with chips, I enjoyed it with chips but it was good by itself too. I wasn't able to try the guacamole with tuna or the yuca fries but my friends said it was delicious. I myself tried the fish tacos and they were one of my favorite fish tacos! I tried some of my husbands steak and man, the steak was great but the chimichurri was the star! I came to Quemar with some girlfriends for a birthday dinner over the weekend, and it was fantastic. When you walk in, it's such a vibe. To the right there is a separate bar area, which later on had a DJ. The restaurant is so spacious, with a large bar and plenty of seating for large parties. We all started with a some cocktails. A few of us went for the cold brew martini, one got a strawberry margarita and another friend had the Paloma. I loved that the espresso martini wasn't creamy! 9/10. Majority of their menu is small plates and tapas, which is honestly great when it's a large group of girls who are indecisive! We ordered the chips and salsa with the salsa roja (not too mild, not too spicy). From there, we ordered the charred Brussels sprouts that are topped with ancho sweet potato purée, maple-dijon vinaigrette, pepitas and goat cheese. SO good. Highly recommend if you are a fan of Brussels. We then ordered some oysters, which were served with lime and a cilantro oil. I'm not a huge oyster fan, but the girls enjoyed. Now for my favorite - the fish tacos. They are topped with burnt orange & chile slaw, baja sauce and salsa roja. There's a little kick to them but they were phenomenal. A close second was the carne asada tacos, topped with ancho-coffee rub, chile crema, avocado-cucumber relish and pickled onions. Quemar definitely is a spot for flavor. Visited this amazing place with my beautiful daughter for the first time but definitely not my last. We attended a wine tasting which I highly recommend. Unlike other tastings, this one serves different small plates that complement the wines that are being offered. There were a series of three different types of wines and we were served three amazing mini meals you can say. What really sealed it for me was the fact they remembered my daughter from a previous visit and remembered that she was vegetarian. Immediately they asked her if that was still the case and asked about my preferences. The chef went above and beyond and created three different mini meals for us that were similar to what they were serving everyone else but in a vegetarian style. Upon arrival, we had to wait 20-30 mins for our reserved table. The first time we came was in February and it was busy and we had an hour wait. I'm thinking a resolution to this is to place a buffer in between reservations to cut back on the overlap. Loved the oysters the most and then the guacamole provided for those that have never been. Our waiter was detailed and friendly. The general manager checked on us which was great as well. Our server also did a very good job at informing us about the dishes etc and got to meet the chief personally as well. Overall I would recommend coming here but be prepared to pay a bit. Everything we got was delicious and service was impeccable. I love the interior of the restaurant and the vibe is perfect. When you arrive, be prepared for valet.. it is the only option so bring cash. For appetizers, we loved the oysters and the yuca fries. If you don't like spicy, steer clear of the hot sauce that is served with the oysters. For entrees, we both adored the Chicken Tinga and the Bone in Ribeye. I've cooled on Quemar quiet a bit. I haven't been impressed with the food the last few times we've dined here... We've been several more times and it's expensive with a limited menu that I don't love. Their bar is beautiful and live music is nice and I absolutely love their fresh green salad - it's a huge portion and the flavors are excellent. The ambiance is lovely and it's a classy place. Yesterday, we came for my husband's birthday dinner, I had booked the Chef's table about 2 months in advance and the gals inside had it ready and waiting for us when we arrived so that was nice. It's a nice table and provides for a nice meal for a small party of 4-6. I like that they have this option. Our waitress was the same as last time we dined here and she's nice but can be condescending. My mother-in-law is a tough cookie and can be demanding and difficult when we eat out so she had a lot of questions and special requests. I thought our waitress did pretty well with her but she did get annoyed eventually. We chose the guac for the table and the green salad as well as tacos with sides of red rice. We had a chicken and mushroom taco, fish tacos, and the steak tacos. You get three per order for around $16-18. They're small, tapas sized, and my favorite was by far the fish. The steak was rubbery and not the best cut. I don't know if they give away a dessert or anything for birthdays, but we saw some other desserts heading out with candles in them and my husband felt like he got the shaft when he didn't get anything. Ha. We chose to do dessert later at home and found the meal to be expensive for what we got. I'm not overly impressed with the choices on the menu, the sizes of the portions, and overall flavor. My husband was really unhappy with the service and food and said he doesn't ever want to come back. So we'll see. read more

The right side has a large bar and lounge area where they have a DJ in the evenings. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and can easily make recommendations. They even offer happy hour Tuesday - Saturday from 4-6pm with drink and food deals. My friend and I truly enjoyed their happy hour offerings. Parking is right out front in the lot and very close to the restaurant. The waitress was really nice and excited from the start and gave an amazing introduction for the menu. This was a DAMN good meal and I already can't wait to go back! My friend and I decided to meet up here for a girls date/birthday dinner (yes, I'm still celebrating). We made met up at 530 but ended up staying til close! Great food and great company will do that! - Vibe - It's a beautiful restaurant. There are 2 rooms/sections, with a beautiful bar. A bright accent wall (separating the bar to the other room) with an arch shelf with all the bottles of liquor. There is also a half moon booth seat facing the kitchen (probably the Chef's table) so you can see all the action. Didn't ask if resys are needed. Everything from decor, chandeliers and yes, even the washroom is GORGEOUS! Washrooms are important! The event had the good paper towels for hand drying LOL. The kind you find at 5 star hotels. - Sips - We are both not drinkers (allergic to alcohol), but they had agua frescas. We ordered the jamaica (hibiscus) and cucumber. They were both quite refreshing and not overly sweet. Surprisingly, the jamaica was not sweet at all and had more of a citrus twist. I LOVED my cucumber one, never thought to make it a sweet drink! - Noms - The menu is broken up in 4 sections: snacks, small plates, large plates, and desserts. We ordered a whole bunch of things to eat family style. Did I mention this is my fave way of eating? If we go out to eat, please make mental note. I can only eat in this fashion. LOL, so I can try as little of a lot of things! Scallop aguachile - absolutely divine! The raw scallops were almost buttery and the citrus and red onion....I could have had 2 more helpings of this, but I had to move on to the other items. Ceviche - their ceviche is made with hamachi (yellowtail). It had some roasted corn nuts, so it added a little nuttiness to the citrus flavors. Carne asada tacos - They come in 3 count. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare (that's how they recommended it). Just perfect! The salsa (you get to pick 2 out of roja, roasted salsa verde, and salsa verde - we picked the first two) and you could tell it was made fresh and from scratch. The texture was almost like a looser, smoother paste. Everything was in perfect harmony in this dish. Whole grilled fish - comes with red rice, a slaw and fresh corn tortillas. The fish was absolutely delicious. Char-grilled to perfection and I sucked off every bit of the delicious meat off of every bone! I know not everyone is a whole chicken/meat on the bone/whole fish with head on type of person, but if you are, you're going to love this! Tres leches - OMG.....tres leches is already one of my fave cakes and they took this one to another level. They top the cake off with Gelati Celesti salted caramel ice cream, whipped cream and stewed strawberries and lime zest. Do I need to tell you more? Chess pie - This was a great pie, very chocolatey, which is totally my thing, but I slightly liked the tres leches better. However, if you judge this one on its own, it was a beautiful way to elevate the pie with a huge helping of whipped cream and brandied cherries. So good if you are a chocolate person! Things to note: - they make 99% of their menu from scratch (the 1% is the ketchup and mayo) - all ingredients are sustainable and they try to source locally as much as possible - the masa they use to make their corn tortillas is sourced from Mexico - they have a state of the art parilla grill (Argentinian) that most of their cooked proteins pass through - TLC - Last but not least, the service here was outstanding. The hostess was very courteous and our server was very warm, welcoming, and super informative. She later told us she was a published author and poet so I understood why she had this performing nature that was both entertaining and full of info. She gave us a run down of the concept of the restaurant, all the wonderful features and made her personal recommendations. She was just delightful! We decided to dine at Quemar for my boyfriend's birthday over the weekend. I made a reservation for Saturday night at 8pm to be sure we were able to be seated upon arrival and thankfully our table was ready as soon as we walked in. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and the dim lighting created a wonderful, intimate ambiance. For drinks, I started with the Puesta del Sol which was their Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita. It came out very quickly and was made perfectly. For our entrees, we decided on the Short Rib Burrito and the Birria Enchiladas. Our meal came out about 20 mins after we placed the order which was really impressive. The Short Rib Burrito was perfection. The meat was very tender and the crema that was poured over it should be bottled up and sold! Absolutely delicious! The Birria Enchiladas were pretty good as well. The Birria meat was also tender but it could've used a little more flavor. Since we both were still pretty hungry after we finished our meals, we also ordered the Fish Tacos and they were absolutely divine! The fish was mahi mahi and tasted very fresh! We literally could have ate 10 more, they were just that good! As we were leaving, we checked out the lounge area, which is on the other side of the restaurant, and it looked to be a very chill spot. A live band was playing that night as well. Overall, we truly enjoyed the dining experience at Quemar. The drinks were great, the food was very delicious and the waiter was very attentive, which I enjoyed. If I had to give some feedback, I would recommend increasing the food portions just a little but other than that, I will definitely be returning. read more
