We came for the vibes. We expected mid. We left believers. My pickiest kid who rejects even the finest foods even gave it a thumbs up and finished his whole plate with only crumbs left. My daughter walked in angry glaring at the world because we walked a mile to get here from the other end of the boardwalk. After eating, I saw the smile come back, her eyes soften, and she even agreed that it was well worth that long 20 minute journey/workout to get here. We had the barbacoa quesadillas, and taco trio. While staying at the Marriott we came here for lunch. The staff here were friendly and helpful. They have a limited menu, but do offer fish tacos and shrimp tacos too. Their salsas were pretty good and their spicy salsa was really good. Chips were decent too. Guac had a nice flavor. Tacos were pretty nice, the fish is grilled, not fried and it was fresh and tasty. They have nice seating, in the sand on the end of the beach with hightops and picnic tables. Definitely a nice place to grab a taco! read more

First of all the place was horrible to find. You have to go into the back pool entrance of a hotel to get into it. Secondly we were sat down at a dirty table , that not only had the previous customers food everywhere but was infested with ants. The food was subpar at that, the meat was dried and tasted like it had been sitting for days. Our drink order didn't come out until AFTER we were finished with the meals. New Restaurant Alert! Tacos N Tequila is in Virginia Beach, VA. It's located on the back side of the Cavalier Resort's Embassy Suites Hotel. It's on 41st Street and parking can be difficult to find. It's a cute "Restaurant" more like an outside tiki bar that serves food. They have a nice variety of Mexican dishes and a decent drink list. They sell Tequila flights! Yes, Tequila flights. They are pricey though. I had a Strawberry Margarita, and it was watered down due to sitting at the bar for a while after being made. The staff is friendly, and I think it will just take time for them to obtain a good flow and routine. I also had the Grouper (fish) taco and Seared Shrimp taco. They were okay, I wish it had some more flavor, but I wasn't disappointed with the price. Overall, I give them a 5/10. The views are one of the best parts. Chill vibes and right off the beach. I love this Tacos N Tequila ! Our waitress was Dezja (not sure if I am spelling it right), but she was so friendly and personable! The food was really good with good sized portions. We had the chicken tinga burrito and quesadilla. The homemade guac and tortilla chips were great. Loved the rose tequila sangria and the strawberry margarita! The only thing I didn't care too much for were the churros but churros are always hit or miss for me anywhere I go so don't take my word for them lol The set up outside is really cute too! I came here last year and absolutely loved this little spot. The ambiance there is laid back but unfortunately that is reflected in the service. I'm giving it two stars because my boyfriend and I ordered food together before two people came up to the bar and ordered. Somehow only he got his food order and the kitchen proceeded to make everyone else's before mine. Even though I kept hearing my food would be right out. I saw the third person get their two tacos and he finally started to make mine. (Maybe but then again probably not) I definitely will not be back which is a shame because the drinks are good. read more

The ambience here is very clean and hype. The food is great. It is hard to find a good Mexican place in town and this place met my cravings. However, what blew me away was a guy named Erik. He is one the best servers that I have come by. Once I came in, I was in a rush to get food and the waiter Erik came straight to me sat down with me and took my large order in a blink of an eye with an iPad. I also saw him half skip and hop to the other people needing to be helped. I have been to multiple establishments but I have not seen a person like Erik who is filled with positive energy. He looks like he is exited to work here and genuinely enjoys to serve his customers. A+ on that. I ordered California fries (carne asada fries) and multiple burritos for my family. The tequila here is also very good. They do not skimp out on their customers and the food is always fresh. read more

Imagine white people taco night on the beach. Amazing ambiance but not so great food. Our server was very nice and knew the menu. The food comes out in take out boxes. The cheese on the nachos was scarce. My friend had the quesadilla she said it was good. Parking is $3 0-3 hours parking is at the cavalier/Marriott. Honestly I know they just opened but I don't think I will come back. It took 25 mins for us to get our check and to check out before we could leave. I suggest going to senior fox. read more

I was excited to try this place but I won't be returning. The parking garage was full around 5pm when we got there but luckily we ubered. Walk past the embassy suites entrance, then walk through their pool area and you'll see a little spot known as tacos n tequila. It's first come first serve and it's extremely small there. There are seats by the bar and roughly 9-10 tables. My waitress, Kylee, told us that it was not suppose to be a "restaurant" originally just a bar and food service to go, that's why the kitchen was so small. She brought us our waters, and took our orders for drinks promptly as we waited for our other guests to arrive. We ordered two jumbo skinny margaritas and I asked what the tequila was that came, she said she wasn't sure (but it was a house). We asked to sub for casamigos which we knew would be an up charge but usually servers announce how much the up charge is. It was $17 on top of the $17 margarita - so $34 for a margarita in a plastic cup...but at the end of the day i would have still liked to be told how much it would be. In total our bill was $250...For food, We ordered tacos: one grouper fried, one seared, and one shrimp. The tacos were surprisingly good, the chips and salsa I didn't care for. I'll start with some negatives before I end with the positives. So negatives: the service needs a bit of work. I never got my water refilled so I took from two other waters at our table before she finally came and gave us an extra water after one of our guests ordered another water. We ordered salt with our margaritas but it only came once with our drinks, usually servers ask based on your previous or first order. We asked for our check but she completely forgot and we had to ask again. Lastly, the thing that myself and other patrons sitting at a table next to us found interesting is that for how expensive our margaritas were, everyone had plastic cups BUT the large group close to us had glassware for their margaritas. I understand why they have plastic cups because Tulu, Cav beach club all have the same policy. But when asked if we could have glassware since the other table did, she said they do not have any and it was because it was Bruce Thompson and everyone has to pull out all of the stops for him and make it as nice as possible. If you put your name on the restaurant, you should stand behind it and should be served exactly how the rest of your customers are. That did not sit well with me. So positives: the ambiance and people love the views being by the beach (don't be mistaken there was NOT a Mexican band there as I read in a previous review - looks like it was just for opening night) Maybe my hopes were too high for this place and by the end of my time there I was ready to leave. For the prices and service, I'll just keep going to Jessy's or Pelons instead. read more

What can improve? EVERYTHING!!! It's basically first come first serve. Seat yourself. You can order to go but no one tells you that. The staff seems too bothered to be bothered. We ordered our food and was told it would be 15-20 minutes. After 45 minutes the server came over to apologize that it was taking so long and they had to bring in the executive chef to help put orders out. It was busy but not like line out the door busy. Not a good experience since before arriving. We called to get a feel as to how busy it was on a Sat afternoon, and the number on Google goes to a full voicemail. Great! Ambience - cute setup but weird location. You have to go through the hotel pool to get there, with no signage in hotel (big miss). It's self seating which you wouldn't know as there's no signage for that as well (another big miss). Service - the worst part! I know this place is new and it was busy but servers can at least fake a smile and acknowledge guests. After waiting for a while our server came with waters but couldn't even take a drink order because she needed to go "drop off other drinks." She passed us a few more times and my husband finally stopped her to place an order which she wasn't happy about. After getting our food my husband asked her if our drinks were on the way to which she replied "I have to go check the bar, do you want to help me?" Does that mean I get to call her to help me with my job on Monday morning? After that reply we limited our interactions with her. I signaled for the check as you could visually see my two year old was tired and ready to go. Another 10 mins go by and I get up and go to the take out window where she's just standing, and after seeing me in line she hands me my check through the window. As an oceanfront local, I love to see new creative and fun spots open up. So glad I visited before reading the reviews. Number 1, and most importantly, it has AWESOME tiki bar beach vibes. I did not come here for a meal, but I did get drinks and chips and salsa. All were great. The server was very nice. I also love the fact that it's tucked away and off the beaten path. You're paying for the location and view because the food isn't doing this place any justice. They took forever to bring our food. A friend ordered The guacamole which was like $11 and literally just looked like a mashed avocado in a plastic cup. Fried grouper tacos barely had any fish in it, a sprinkle of cabbage. The nachos were unremarkable at best. 3 tacos, 2 beers, elote, and a plate of sad nachos was over $100. Save your money and go down elsewhere. It wasn't even worth taking any pics of because we were starving by the time it made it to our table... only to leave still hungry. Oh yah and the kitchen tried to say they gave us an extra taco. The food was terrible, they are not liek your traditional Mexican spot so they don't offer you free chips and salsa which is fine , I was going to try the cheese dip but it was a chorizo mixture and I am not the biggest fan of chorizo . The food was terrible , the Tacos tasted very bland . I had a shrimp taco and a chicken taco with a side of rice and beans which were all 0/10 and even with asking for a side of shredded cheese to see if this would help they still were terrible . The person who was with legit the seafood tacos 0/10 and they messed the order up 2x before getting it right .
