Oyster Rockefeller, Wagyu Sliders and Jake Walker (Sparkling Cava, Grand Marnier & pomegranate)
Kay D.

We went out for a date night looking for a good place for food, drinks and dessert. We tried three different places stopping for drinks and seeing if it was worth staying for the rest. I wish we would have started at Honey and Hooch. The location was great, with lots of cute restaurants around. It was clean and seemed safe. I would feel comfortable walking alone here. The two ladies behind the bar were so friendly and helpful as we looked at the menu. We ordered an old fashion and it was perfect and not too sweet like the two other places we tried first. Their bourbon selection was good and they offered lots of cocktail options. We ordered Brussel sprouts, wagyu sliders and Oyster Rockefeller. Each bite was great. Oysters were my favorite. We will be sure to be back. We will have to try the social hour which is half off everything at the bar from Tuesday to Friday from 4:30-5:30. I'll also have to remember to try the Heat and holler.

Sit at the bar! I felt like my husband and I got so much more attention this way so service was absolutely fantastic. Decor is so much fun and I love the moody black walls with the fun lights and gold/bronze animal decor. Drinks: * Tap water - normally I don't comment on this because it's just water right? Wrong. The water and ice cubes they served us were very fresh and crisp. I drank two glasses with my cocktails which was perfect to stay hydrated. * Gentleman's - very refreshing and delicious this was a very interesting cucumber like experience * Martini La Poire - so so good! I personally did not think it was too sweet. Please never get rid of the sugar rim. This made the drink what it was in my opinion * Cranberry Martini - this was a suggestion from our bartender and it was delicious... probably my favorite from the night. The cinnamon sugar rim was perfection Food: * Mussels - not much to say about these other than just choose them! You will not regret it the sauce was absolutely fabulous and the bread was perfect. Capers and bits of tomatoes and garlic were wonderfully balanced without trying to compete for the spotlight I had a friend group who did not have the best experience with service here but they were sitting at a table. Bar seats are definitely the way to go & I would recommend for a quick app and a couple cocktails. Not sure if I would actually do dinner but our experience was great.

Filthy martini and Old Fashioned

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 12 year anniversary and he made a reservation here. We always like to try new restaurants, especially ones that aren't a chain. This one was also close to us which is a plus. Be prepared that it is very dark inside. VERY dark. I understand they're trying to give it a speakeasy vibe, but it was so dark it was almost hard to see. Also, it was freezing in there. Our drinks were great! I ordered a dirty martini and my husband ordered an old-fashioned. My dirty martini was one of the best I've had so big plus there. The appetizers for the most part were good. We ordered the scallops. $38 for three is a bit steep, BUT they were really tasty and well-made. We ordered the Wagyu beef sliders and the truffle fries. Both were good. Probably my favorite appetizer of the night. The sliders needed a little bit more seasoning and more of the jam though imo. Then we ordered the charcuterie board, which was terrible. I love a charcuterie board. I make them and order them all the time. This one had a bunch of stuff on it that was just NOT good. The grapes were mushy, the wrapped grape leaves were off tasting and there were a few things on the board that I had no idea what they were...and our server didn't know either. You should 100% know your menu please and thank you. I tried the unknown items even though I didn't know what they were lol and they didn't taste good at all. Our server was really great. She was friendly and polite and we enjoyed her Now...the bill. We ALMOST left a 40% tip. Not because the service and experience was so great that we felt it was needed... but because a 20% gratuity was automatically put onto the bill. As I stated above, it was just my husband and I. Two people. Not a large party... just the two of us. I don't mind tipping 20% for good service and I will always tip 20% unless the service is excellent and then I will put more. It just feels a little ballsy to automatically put 20% onto my bill and nowhere does it preface that is the case. It's not on the website. It's not on the menu (that I saw) and it wasn't on the receipt. Had I not noticed that it was already on there I would've ended up leaving a $60 tip for three drinks and four appetizers. Also the credit card fee is shifted to the consumer so be aware of that as well. That was an additional $10. These 2 things shifted my entire experience of the night to be honest. All in all the experience wasnt terrible. It was a nice evening and it was quiet in the restaurant which was so nice. Also they gave us some complimentary champagne in 2 coupe glasses for our anniversary which I thought was lovely. There were a few things I liked and a few things I didn't and unfortunately it wouldn't be enough for me to go back. ‍

Wagyu Sliders

What an exceptional establishment it gives vintage speakeasy vibes the decor and the ambience are beautiful. The bartenders are very skilled in their craft showcasing a lot of very good cocktails and mocktails. We tried a variety of small plates to include steak bites, seafood ceviche, lamb chops, truffle fries, Wagyu sliders, oyster Rockefeller, guacamole and deviled eggs. All of the dishes were amazing my favorite had to be the Wagyu sliders, guacamole (has chorizo in it) and the oysters. They have a regular menu as well. Will definitely be going back to try the ribeye as customers raved about it. Was an extra plus that social hour from 4:30 to 5:30 PM has All dishes and drinks 50% off. If you have never tried this place you are missing out. I think I've found my new weekly spot.

Crispy roasted Brussels sprouts

What a delightful evening celebrating our sister's birthday in a speakeasy ambiance! The service and fare were impeccable! As you enter the establishment, it has a moody atmosphere with a bit of mystery! They play nice background music not too loud but just enough to complement the atmosphere while dining and conversing with friends. We ordered several plates because it's tapas style but it was very filling and flavorful!! We ordered the crispy roasted broccoli($12), calamari($16), lobster pad Thai ($40), a charcuterie board ($40), Waygu Beef Sliders ($18), and ordered non-cocktail drinks (Fog Light $14) and a cocktail drink (Jake Walker $14). It was a wonderful culinary experience to say the least!! The service was outstanding!! The hostesses and waitress were friendly and excellent!! Highly recommend this place for special occasions and a nice evening out!!!

Wish I can give 10 stars for service! Jeff was an absolute personable server with terrific stories to tell and great recommendations for what to order as it was our first time dining at Honey & Hooch. My friend NH and I ordered the special for the evening which was lobster pad Thai (or their very unique take on pad Thai) and trio of cheesecake for dessert. There was generous serving of lobster, the noodles resembled more of buckwheat noodles so combined with well seasoned and fresh ingredients, the dish was fantastic! The cheesecake trio had creative flavors: cannoli, lemon berry and vanilla bourbon. We were told that the tiramisu crene brûlée is to die for, something to try next time for sure! Ambiance is romantic and upscale, interesting lights by the bar...highly recommended restaurant for sure!

Olives

This restaurant is seriously good! We tried the charcuterie board, the wagyu sliders, and marinated olives for starters. I tried the heat and holler drink, which was served with a semi-melted marshmallow on top! How cool! I had the Springtime Chopped Salad and my brother had the Ribeye. We truly loved everything here, but our favorites were the olives, ribeye, and Salad (sliders were also up there). The salad was just delicious and I would have finished it had I not eaten so many of the appetizers! I also tried a bite of steak and it was cooked perfectly and the sauce it came in was delicious! The service was perfect. Just perfect. Our server came at exactly the right times. She was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks and very attentive. The restaurant itself is super cool with amazing decor. It's a speakeasy so it is dark, but not so dark that you can't see. I will definitely be back here, especially for special occasions.

Brussels Sprouts

This is now one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Chesapeake. The decor, ambience and skilled bartenders and chefs service was amazing. The lollipops and brussels sprouts were delicious and perfectly cooked. Definitely my spot when I'm in town.

This restaurant is in the corner of a shopping center in Chesapeake. I'm sure if you don't know it's back there you wouldn't know it was there. When I walked up, someone came to open the door for me. The door is super dark so you can barely see on the other side of it, but they can see you. I had already made a reservation so thankfully, once i arrived we were seated immediately. The restaurant is pretty dim. I'm not sure if we were sitting near the speaker or not, but the music was a little loud i could barely hear myself think lol. The restaurant itself is very cute though. Once seated, the waiter immediately came to ask for drinks. They have a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, and wine. I enjoy the tapas style restaurants, as I don't have to only get one meal and can try different things. We got the Brussel sprouts, calamari, oyster Rockefeller, and salmon cakes. Unfortunately, the only picture i got was the salmon cakes (sorry, was hungry) lol. The calamari came with a very interesting dipping sauce; but it was good! The Brussels were mostly skin/the outside instead of full Brussels so I would be sort of iffy getting those again, but they were still tasty. I have no complaints on the food and our waiter was amazing.

We got the charcuterie board. It was an experience, not sure I would order it again, but I liked the unique flavors.
Stephanie A.

It's definitely a unique experience. The interior is very dark (black walls, no windows, dim lights). The drinks are a bit small for the price. The food was good, I tried a few things I had never had before.

A Sweet Escape: Hooch in Honey Hits the Perfect Note Nestled in the heart of a cute shop g plaza, Hooch in Honey feels like stepping into an eclectic, Brooklyn cocktail bar. The bartenders are just as entreating as the ambiance. The science and vibe is makes you want to come back for a girls night out or romantic date. The drink menu caters to everyone, including those looking for non-alcoholic options. The Lavender Mocktail is a fragrant delight, blending floral notes with a light citrus zing--it's as refreshing as it is beautiful. But the real standout was the Earl Grey Mocktail from the daily specials menu. It had a delicate balance of bergamot, honey, and fizz, offering a sophisticated twist on a classic tea experience. Each dish felt like it was crafted with care. The Calamari was perfectly crispy, with a hint of spice and paired with a tangy dipping sauce that elevated it. The Goat Cheese Dip was creamy, indulgent, and served with warm, toasted bread--a comforting dish that's perfect for sharing. For mains, the Lamb Lollipops were an absolute showstopper--tender, juicy, and coated in a subtly sweet honey glaze that complemented the rich flavor of the lamb. The Sliders were another hit, featuring perfectly seasoned patties, melty cheese, and a hint of honey-infused aioli, all sandwiched between pillowy buns. The service was top-notch. Our server, Mia, was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the menu. She took the time to explain the specials and even suggested pairing the Earl Grey Mocktail with the lamb lollipops--a perfect match. Whether you're here for date night, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself, the vibe is versatile and welcoming. On weekends, live acoustic music fills the space, elevating the experience without overpowering conversation. Don't leave without checking out their charming corner shop featuring jars of locally sourced honey, beeswax candles, and cocktail recipe kits. It's a lovely way to take a bit of Hooch in Honey home with you. Final Verdict: Hooch in Honey is more than a bar; it's an experience that lingers long after you've left. With its thoughtful menu, warm service, and locally driven ethos, it's a place that deserves to be on everyone's radar. Pro Tip: Make a reservation if you're coming during peak hours, as seating fills up quickly. Also, keep an eye out for their rotating mocktail specials--they're worth the visit alone!

I've been to this restaurant a few times, and it never fails to disappoint! Most recently, we came to celebrate a friend's birthday. I love all the small plates, makes it super easy for sharing! The first drink I got, I wasn't totally in love with, so I let our waitress know, and she said it was no problem to change it out for something different. My favorite appetizer was the bronze scallops, they were so delicious and cooked perfectly! The entire table enjoyed the truffle fries the most, I think we got three bowls of that alone! If you're looking for something unique and different for your next night out, I strongly recommend this fabulous restaurant!

Lobster Pad Thai 6/10

I had heard so many people talk about Honey and Hooch that I couldn't wait to try it for myself. Located in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Honey and Hooch is very close to lots of Highways for your convenience. When we walked in we were greeted warmly but a very dapper looking gentleman. He immediately showed us to our table. Walking to our table I noticed that the ambience was beautiful. Black walls accented with gold wall decor and lighting. (The lighting is verrrrry low in some areas so be mindful. No one wants to use a flash or camera light when taking pictures and videos.) We were seated towards the back of the restaurant past the bar. Perfect for a quite date night dinner. We started our dinner of with cocktails and appetizers. I had a lemon drop martini made with Ketel One vodka and Carmen had the Leatherman . Both drinks were just okay. 6/10. Next l enjoyed the Jake Walker. Pomegranate and grand marnier! 8/10! The wagyu beef sliders with gouda cheese and bacon name were okay. I would have like more bacon ham but I still thought that they coul have used some seasoning 6/10 After chatting for a while and waiters recommendations I chose the Lobster Pad Thai and Carmen chose the whole red snapper. Both meals were plated beautifully and were great portions but they both lacked flavor. Could have used more seasoning and herbs. 6/10. Overall, just okay.

There are a number of monuments and memorials here and of course, you can walk over and watch the Great Bridge Bridge open and close if you're fortunate. One highlight is the obelisk commemorating the Battle of Great Bridge. It is a tribute to the Patriot soldiers who fought and died in one of Virginia's earliest Revolutionary War victories. It is a classic granite shaft, inscribed with tributes to the men who helped drive British forces from the colony on December 9, 1775. If you're able, tour the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Museum. Lots of history on the Colonial Era and the brief but decisive clash that marked a turning point: colonial forces routed British troops under Lord Dunmore, effectively ending royal control in Virginia and forcing the British to retreat to Norfolk.
