We came here for our pre-Valentine's Day dinner. Our waiter was really nice. He was prompt and he paid attention and was an attentive listener, which was really nice as a server. I got an appetizer or a starter. That was the grilled rustic bread along with the seafood pasta, and my boyfriend got the Civil burger. I forgot the name of the drink, but it was an espresso martini. My husband and I ended up coming here for brunch before a snow storm hit! The service was 10 out of 10 and they had many recommendations for drink options. I would recommend sitting in a booth far away from the door during winter because the breeze can be quite cold. The booths are also super comfortable and very well padded. My husband ended up getting the chorizo scramble which he liked a lot. I ended up ordering the steak and eggs. The compound butter that comes with the steak and eggs is amazing on toast or steak. I got a blood orange drink that was OK, but I wouldn't get it again. The second drink I got was with Rose and lavender and I would definitely get that again. We love this place. Heard so much about this place, so I just had to try it. I am so glad I did!! When you walk in it's nice, clean with modern decore. Spacious seating for everyone. They halve a lot of choice that sounds so good, but was craving seafood. So I ordered the "Crab Omlette l" and it comes with spuds. I asked for the queso bronco sauce on the side, but didn't realize they mix the crab I'm the sauce. I was kinda surprised and upset cause they should have labeled it " Crab Queso Sauce" I really thought they would put the lump of Crab on top. And I don't feel it was a lump of crab! Other then that the dish was tasty And the potato spuds was really yummy with the cheese. I love coming to Civil Libation for dinner. The service is always warm and friendly. Charlotte was our server this time and she absolutely rocked! My favorite dishes are the Argentinian steak with chimichurri and the seafood pasta with their cajun alfredo sauce - soooo yummy. Their drinks are great too. The only drawback is that while their drink menu is fun to look at, it can be a bit tricky to read sometimes, but it's a small thing compared to how good everything else is. Definitely one of my go-to spots for a delicious dinner and good vibes. Their brunch menu looks great too so I look forward to visiting them for that! read more

I had the Hole in One (bourbon-based) and it was pretty good. My friend liked hers (I did not; I'm not a vodka gal). So, all in all, pretty decent drinks. The buffalo chicken dip was interesting. The flavor was good but I'm not used to chunks of chicken (usually it's shredded). That was a little odd, but on this particular day I needed more protein anyway so, I didn't mind it I guess. I had a hard time choosing a meal because they did have a lot of options. I landed on the crabcakes. The flavor was very good with the remoulade! But, serving it over Mexican street corn was just...weird. It also came with mashed potatoes. I actually found that several items included the street corn which I was just confused by. Casey was our server and she was fantastic. She was able to recommend quite a few things. Overall it was a pretty good meal. Would I seek out this spot again? Probably not. The bar was full but we did manage to find 3 seats. The HH is straighforward. $2 off apps and drinks. We started with Squash Rings and Tuna Tower. My friend also got the Beet Salad but I don't like beets. The squash rings were good. Great dipping sauce and they stayed together when you bit into them. The portion was a good size. The tuna tower....you just can't go wrong. delicious. I wish it was higher up and not so flat but that is just me. I think it looks more impressive. I love the micro greens! All the apps sound good. The drinks are fun. Personally I just like a basic drink but I do like the names and the ingredients and presentation....just not the price tag. Our server was great and very attentive. I started with a seasonal drink that had lychee - very good. Civil Libation is a must visit in the Sandbridge, VA. If you are visiting Virginia Beach it is well worth the short trip south. All three times we visited have been a WOW! experience. We were welcomed upon our arrival on a busy Friday night. My wife and I had reservations at peak time. Tables were being cleared out after the previous happy customers and fresh tables being set up by multiple team members. Teamwork is just one thing that makes Civil Libation successful. The team cheerfully works well together. When we were seated, Savannah brought us ice water and took our drink orders from a large menu of specialty cocktails. We enjoyed "Blades of Glory" and "Mercury in Retrograde" tonight. I always look forward to a great appetizer and Civil Libation has plenty of tasty choices. The Tuna Nachos (my favorite) blue corn nachos are loaded with tuna, avocado, and veggies. Savannah was one very busy person, but she still provided my wife and me with personalized world class service. The timing of the entrees was perfect as they arrived shortly after we finished our app. My wife's "Forbidden Bowl" features salmon, avocado, black rice and more. The seafood was extra creamy and filled with large pieces of scallops and shrimp. We ordered the Funk Dafies and both of us loved that drink if you like some smoke and spice. I'm a girl of second chances and was so happy that I was able to visit Civil Libation again. My experience was amazing. The waitress was so sweet. I wish I could remember her name. She totally made up for my previous experience. On this visit I took my daughter , she and I, and were seated in the dining area near a window. We ordered drinks to start. I had the Friends with Benefits and my daughter had the Thats What she said. Both drinks were amazing! Drink menu picture is posted so you can see what's in them! For dinner I had the crab cakes on top of grilled corn served with fresh sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes! The crab cakes were so good. Lots of lump crab. No fillers. My sides were the perfect addition to this dinner. 10+ for the crab cake dinner. My daughter ordered the stuffed chicken. Also, great meal. It is one of those restaurants that I would go to if others were going as well. My husband got the southwest skillet which he said it was a little potato heavy . My son liked the banana fosters french toast and he said was decent but nothing specials. He wishes there was more banana to it. My daughter had the. Spaghetti pancake from the kids menu. I've always passed this place whenever I went to the movies, but never tried it until now. There's so much indoor seating, I never would have guessed! Some outdoor seating as well. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the artwork! Super eclectic and colorful. I loved the vibe. Our waitress was amazing. It was all of our first times (we came in with a group of 4 right when it opened) and she was very sweet and accommodating. I looked at the menu ahead of time and wanted something off of the lunch menu but noticed that menu wasn't given to us. I asked about it and she let us know we can order from the breakfast or lunch menu at any time so I was relieved :) She gave us a rundown of general customer favorites which was super helpful in deciding what to try first! We started off with the civil donut holes and we were fickle about getting them because they are made with butternut squash... but it was actually SO good, you could see the butternut squash but not taste it! It made us feel better ordering them since it had veggies in it lol. It also didn't feel as heavy as regular donuts so I still had room for my entree afterwards :) I had the Hawaiian tuna tower which is a shareable appetizer but I ate it as an entree. I was worried it wouldn't fill me up and I'm kind of skeptical ordering raw fish at non-sushi or poke restaurants, but I was pretty satisfied after trying it! It also was very fresh! My wonton crisps I feel like we're a tad bit underbaked but overall the dish was delicious. The sauce was super tangy and definitely added the kick to this dish. I've heard their cocktails are pretty epic. I went in with a friend and our kids on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was spacious, clean, with up to date decor. It definitely made for a nice venue. Our service was nice with good energy, always being attentive to us and making sure we were good. The cocktails were sweet but strong! It was a great balance where you didn't taste the alcohol but still got a decent buzz after 2 drinks. Our kids got Mac & Cheese and OMGGGG! There is a reason I forgot to take pics of it. It was sooo good 100/10. I almost ate the whole bowl for my kid. It almost felt like it was drugged because there was no reason for a dish as simple as that to taste that amazing lmao the sauce was super creamy and flavorful with the macaroni cooked well. I got the scallop risotto and it was a 8/10. I loved it a lot! The scallops melted and fell apart in your mouth. I love how it was the perfect amount of seasoning where it was like you can taste the ocean, but it wasn't at all too salty. The risotto had a nice texture as well and was almost well seasoned. I added a few dashes of salt to it and it got it to be the 9.5/10 dish I know it could be. Again, I love how it wasn't overly seasoned and you could taste and appreciate the ingredients in a subtle but not at all bland way. The mushrooms were a nice touch to ensure that the dish doesn't get boring after a few bites along with the scallops. I wasn't too much of a fan for the cinnamon bun bread pudding. It was made well but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The pieces were moist and well coated in cinnamon and sauce. But to me, the cinnamon flavor was both overwhelming and dull after a few bites. Maybe making it into a dessert bowl, cutting up the pieces, and pouring a lighter sauce might be better? That's just my personal opinion. Again, there wasn't really anything wrong with it, it just wasn't for me. Overall, I like this place a lot and I would love to come back and try their brunch menu. Here is my rundown on the place: Service was a 3.5/5- When we arrived at 4:30 for an early Saturday night dinner before a concert our waitress was very attentive but as the place filled up she was hardly around and had to flag her down for drink refills. Another reason for not the best score with our server left out a key piece of information when describing the fish special of the day. It was mahi mahi over coconut rice. She forgot to mention that it had a Cajun spice rub on the fish. For someone who can't handle spice it was too spicy for me, even with the mango relish. Food: 3.5/5: Fish special Mahi Mahi-cooked very well just too spicy for me. The coconut rice really had no coconut flavor but the green beans were cooked just right. Steak with andouille sausage gravy over French fries was very good. French fries were very crispy. Steak Egg Rolls- Seeing the rave reviews I was expecting a better filling flavor but were just so-so. They were nice and crispy. Veggie Burger with a side salad- my friend who ordered this dish enjoyed it and it was a good portion. Went here for dinner with the family. First, they have a really great and varied menu. Everyone in my party was able to find something. Which is actually pretty difficult because four of are pescatarian, one of us is vegetarian, and the other two are hard core carnivores! So finding a place that works for everyone is ALWAYS difficult. But, this place hit all the spots. Our party had everything from salad to salmon to the vegan bowl to steak! The food was soooo good that in a week long vacation where we're only eating out once per day, we're eating here again....TONIGHT! By the way, the dessert...oh the dessert.
