Found exactly what I was looking for at The Roads Bistro! Really awesome live music and food. I've really been into jazz/R&B lately and happened to get invited here tonight for my friend's daughter's show. The ambiance is relaxing. I got the ahi tuna. It was yummy! They had some good fries, great portion. I loved the pot stickers in Thai chili sauce. Staff were nice. I'm so glad I just happened to get invited to this place. So excited to see some more live music here, yay!

Great atmosphere and warm and cozy decor. If you are looking for a great date night spot I highly recommend The Roads Bistro. Go in expecting small plates and a wide selection of drink options. Service is great and I will be back for sure.

A chill vibe. The bartender was nice, and served our group right away. There's plenty of seating and live music on certain nights. They have a simple menu, but I didn't try any food. My friends got a few shots and we were on our way. In and out! Check them out!!

I came to The Roads Bistro because my husband had gotten the recommendation from a really good friend. We were told that the food was scrumptious here. We found a cozy spot in the back to get comfortable in and we had a great view of the stage. To our greatest surprise, a Jazz band was performing that night! We were ecstatic because I love music. We ordered and ordered and ordered plate after plate. The chef was phenomenal. The drinks were well made and tangy! The food was cooked to perfection and decadent. I was so happy! Hubby was so glad I agreed to go to this restaurant. I love the Spanish flare and vibe that this place has. I totally recommend The Roads Bistro for a romantic date night!

We came here with kids. Loved it, it was a nice adult date night, but no kids menu in sight. Understandable.

Instantly you are transported to a real chill relaxing enjoyment as you enter the Roads Bistro! Service is welcoming, you are served with a smiling face. Staff are super attentive as owner Michael also makes sure you are good. Celebrating lil Bro 40th birthday was ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH FANTASTIC!! Cold apps 10/10 and Hot apps 10/10. Drinks 10/10. Service 10/10. I appreciate a Chef who is not intimidated to do their own thing. Sold apps solid house made picked cups! House made salmon and toast. Pure straight fire. Hot apps Calamari milk soaked tender. Hubby loved the wings. GOYZA and dupping sauces and ramalode. The Roads Bistro had live music tonight, what a VIBE!! Chole Youtsey and her band did the THANG!! I hope to catch you again and you have a follower rt here! Please visit and enjoy yourself. EAT well. On or off menu you will not be disappointed

Whiskey sour was so good. They even do egg whites. Follow @LaVida_757 on instagram for more.

I y. I love love love Roads Bistro. From the the relaxed vibe, welcoming staff, perfectly crafted cocktails, and their ever-changing hot tapas menu. I always enjoy coming here. Some menu items have a different twist but have never been disappointed. The Old Fashioned is always on point, and this time I tried the Whiskey Sour with egg whites - soooo good! Plus, they have live jazz music after 7pm (check their website for the schedule). If you haven't been yet, make sure to add it to your list! Keep in mind the menu rotates, so some items may not always be available - like the Peruvian Chicken Tacos we had, which were absolutely delicious.

Came with the family to support our family who was playing with the live band. Very modernized feel with a romantic vibe. Crab cakes were pretty good despite the size. Expresso martinis are the GO TO. Service was pretty good even with the live music. If you are looking for a romantic dinner and don't want to drive too far, this is a good spot!

Great spot for tapas and cocktails with a casual atmosphere and good service! We came for a birthday celebration with 8 friends and were able to get a reservation same day which was awesome. I got the French Martini which was done perfectly. Would absolutely get it again. It was very well balanced and perfectly chilled. The foam on top was an added bonus. As a group, we ordered close to 75% or more of the menu so we got to try bites of many things. Here's what we loved: Chicken Teriyaki Postickers Scallops Beef Carpaccio Big Mac Flatbread (it was a special of the day but would LOVE for this to be a mainstay menu item) A few of the items that we weren't huge fans of were the goat cheese and olive bruschetta and the wedge salad with the beets. The olives on the bruschetta was incredibly overpowering. There was no balance. The salad was just a bit bland and dry. Otherwise, we loved the other bites we got to try and look forward to trying more off the menu.

Had dinner here last night 12/27/2023 to celebrate a friend's birthday. Everyone had been here before. This was my first time and had been looking forward to visiting this place. We were a table of 10 and we all ordered different things. I ordered the Scallops, Beet & Apple Wedge salad and Beef Carpaccio. I love wedge salads and I knew this was not your typically salad. I did enjoy this dish with its bright tanginess. This dish is definitely sharable. I would prefer more beets but that's just because I love beets. The apples gave it a nice sweetness. Beef Carpaccio was not bad but when I think carpaccio I am assuming thinly raw steak and this was not the case. It was more like medium rare as you can see in the pic. It was still good but I would like my carpaccio raw thank you. Now the star was the Scallop dish, those scallops were cooked perfectly with a nice sear on them. You get three average sized scallops but man were they so sweet and plump not chewy at all. This was my favorite out of the three dishes I had. Everyone else got Pierogies, Gnocchi, Sirloin steak, Cheese board, She crab soup and Shrimp tacos. They all enjoyed their dishes. I had a taste of the she crab soup, pierogies and gnocchi. I definitely will get the pierogies and she crab soup next time. The gnocchi was good but I was expecting pillowy soft these were pan fried. Not bad but I prefer soft gnocchi. There was live music playing but I really was not paying attention as I more engaged with my group. Service was good. Dishes came out at different times but this is tapas so it comes when it is ready. The wine flowing and we all enjoyed our time here. Will definitely be back!

Would this be appropriate to bring a toddler for dinner? I don't mean like kids running around the restaurant, I get that's a no as it's a nicer spot. But a nicer family dinner?

yes, if well behaved. i don't recall a children's menu, though.

I got a blood orange drink that was OK, but I wouldn't get it again. The second drink I got was with Rose and lavender and I would definitely get that again. We love this place. This is our second time going and we will be back!

For our first round of drinks we had the Swizzle (10/10) strong and yummy and the Blue Hawaiian (8.5/10) it was sweet and tasty, not too strong. We also tried the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos (4/10) they were dry and even after I asked for extra sauce, I still wasn't satisfied. Either the fish, the slaw, or the sauce had a weird tangy after taste! On the side I had some Macaroni Salad (10/10) that was yummy for sure! Second round of drinks we had another Swizzle and a Tiki Island (9/10). Overall, I loved the vibe and atmosphere of the place. It's great for date night, but I wouldn't come back for the food. With it being a Friday night, we were hoping it wasn't too busy and thankfully, it wasn't. We sat at a table near the music and it was a bit loud but they did turn it down, which we thought was nice. The Gummy Bear Martini is one of my favorites so I started with that. Since they had a special menu, we wanted to try some of the new items. I ordered the Gumbo and we decided to share the Beef Empanadas. We also ordered the Bourbon Bacon Meatballs, which we love. The food was served pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the Gumbo! It had a peculiar taste that I couldn't quite pinpoint. The Beef Empanadas weren't bad but could've been seasoned better, I enjoyed the chutney on top. The Bourbon Bacon Meatballs weren't a hit this time, which was disappointing. We remembered them being more saucy and flavorful, but they tasted like the frozen meatballs from the store with some sauce on top. Very underwhelming. I grabbed the Bee Sting, which consisted of honey habanero moonshine, lemon juice and simple syrup and I loved it. We also ended the night with Espresso Martinis. Overall, the food just didn't hit the mark this time but the drinks were great as always. My friend even had them customize a drink for her and it turned out very good. Our server was absolutely amazing though! She was personable and made our experience very enjoyable. Great for Wine, Not for Dinner (Unfortunately) I don't know…read morewhy my Bestie and I keep doing this to ourselves -- we love Cooper's Hawk for the wine tastings, but every time we try to give dinner another chance... it ends the same way. After our tasting, we decided to sit down and order one of our longtime favorites: the short rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We hadn't had it in a few months because the last time was an epic fail, but we figured we'd give it another shot. As always, the pretzel bread and butter were a highlight -- that part never misses. The entrée, however, was another disappointment. The vegetables were noticeably undercooked -- still hard and crunchy -- and the dish came out with barely any sauce, even though I specifically asked for extra. For a short rib dish, you expect that rich, flavorful gravy to tie everything together... and it just wasn't there. A manager did come over after I pointed it out, and she genuinely tried to make it right, which I appreciated. We were offered another meal to take home, but at that point we were honestly just over it. To end on a positive note, I tried the Banoffee Pie for the first time (recommended by the manager), and it was actually really good -- rich, sweet, and worth trying. I also ordered their chocolate cake to go (which I usually love), but when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I had to call for a refund, which they did handle -- but it just added to the overall frustration. At this point, it's become a pattern. When I first started coming here over a year ago, everything was consistently great. Lately, though, the dinner experience has been more miss than hit. We'll absolutely continue coming back for the wine tastings -- those are still top-tier. But for dinner? We're done trying.

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.

While we did have a few bumps during our dining experience last night overall far as the ambience the service and the decor hands down Top Notch so a five stars it is! We were meeting others here for dinner last night so it was a party of six and we sat in the back area of the restaurant beautiful from front to end. Our waitress Chloe was amazing super helpful when asked for suggestions super patient as well as attentive throughout the night love her. The manager Kelly was super nice as well. My husband ordered the strip and fries and he loved it everything was cooked to Perfection for him. He ordered a Crown Royal and Sprite but it first came out as Crown Royal and Coke but our waitress quickly apologized and turn that back around and my husband had the Crown and Sprite while he wasn't a fan even though this is just one spirit with the mixer he said it wasn't good enough for another. He just stuck with his water for the rest of the night. Now on to me we started out with the Rockfish bites and calamari not a fan of calamari so I'll pass on that but it seemed to be a hit at the table I did finish up a few bites and they were very very good they also brought out complimentary bread I believe one was just a Italian and the other one was a honey oat or just Oat I had that with the butter as well as the olive oil very good I can eat the bread over and over again Lord forgive me nevertheless on to the drinks... I had the lavender drop martini and a margarita both 10 out of 10 if you like sweet go for the lavender drop if you like something strong Margarita it is and this is the first time I've ordered a margarita and it came out in a tall glass and I was a fan of it so kudos to JG for that... On to my meal I ordered the beef tenderloin and asked for a crabcake to be added and I chose the fresh green beans as my side. My meal came out first I could already tell the beef tenderloin was not cooked to my desire of medium well from what I know now someone else at the table had ordered a medium steak so I may have gotten her plate but I let Chloe know and Chloe was able to take that back and get it fixed it came back out still not to my liking however I did begin eating the crab cake and the green beans and they were divine... The third attempt Kelly the manager brought out my tenderloin and it was good at that point it was so good I couldn't stop eating so like I said even though with some bumps in the road throughout our dining experience last night still worthy of five stars super excited to return... I'm interested in trying the happy hour with the different martinis as well as small plates that are at a good price. Solid restaurant Beautiful Highly suggest you check it out if you are into chophouses. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Our server was Nathan and he was friendly and accommodating!! I like the amount of happy hour options compared to some other restaurants with just a few. We got burger sliders with fries, calamari, poke nachos, and chicken lettuce wraps. The calamari was ok but it was some very tough ones to chew and the portion was small. The tartar sauce that came with it was good and a little spicy. The poke nachos were decent, but I'm not a raw girly to often, so I'd definitely ask if it could be seared. I put it in the air fryer at home, and it was pretty good. My daughter enjoyed it!! The lettuce wraps were just ok, the chicken was kinda rubbery and chewy. The wonton shell was delicious though and the sauce was good. My sliders were supposed to be all the way with lettuce, tomato, onions, and secret sauce. But when they came to the table they were plain with no sauce. I started to eat and about 5 minutes later the food runner brought my correct order. They said they gave me the table next to ours food. So the waiter came back to take it back, and I asked if they'd throw it away? He said yes! Which kinda bothered me. I asked since it was going in the garbage and it wasn't my mistake, could I keep it. He said the manager wouldn't allow it. With inflation why would the manager rather trash perfectly good food? It makes me nervous when restaurants take food back. If it's sat down on a table it shouldn't be returned, just take the loss, because how do I know your not going to replace it and serve it to someone else. I'm not a fan of that!! I'm not accusing them of doing that, but that's the thoughts that run through my mind in situations like that. The table was spacious at the booths and it was clean inside. There's street and garage parking. We went on a good day when it wasn't a wait for a table. The hostess was very nice. She was cheerful and engaging! I'd go back to try other happy hour dishes. Check them out!!
