We stopped by The Egg Bistro for our last breakfast during our Va. Beach visit, and it was a great send off. First, the service was top-notch. Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog. read more

We were promptly seated shortly before the opening hours much to our delight. Parking is plentiful outside and free. The service here was attentive, prompt, and efficient. The food arrived pretty quickly. I ordered the veggie lovers omelette without the mushrooms and w/ biscuits and potatoes. Everything tasted fresh and not too greasy. I thought the addition of avocados without the upcharge was nice. Too bad they didn't have marmalade for jelly choices but if that's the only complaint I have, I'd say it's pretty good. This is definitely a local's favorite. When we got there it was pretty busy but luckily we were able to get a table. Within minutes of us sitting down, the line was out the door. The place hasn't changed much over the years. Our waitress (Bri) was very friendly and welcoming. She continuously checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Considering how busy they were, our food came out in a timely manner. Everything was exactly as we ordered it and it was delicious. I don't frequent this establishment as much as I would like because of the limited vegetarian/vegan options but it's obvious that everyone enjoys it. We've been going to The Egg Bistro in Strawbridge ever since they first opened, and overall, we really do like this place. They've always done such a great job creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment and even hosting fun community events like Breakfast with the Grinch (which is free and such a cute touch). It's those kinds of things that have kept us coming back over the years. That being said, their no-substitution policy has started to feel a bit frustrating. I completely understand that menu pricing is structured a certain way and that too many substitutions can complicate things in the kitchen. In the past, though, it felt like staff had a little flexibility to make reasonable judgment calls. Now, it feels extremely strict--to the point where it just doesn't make much sense. Today, I ordered a French toast special and simply asked for half of it without the toppings (no whipped cream or Nutella drizzle). I wasn't asking for substitutions, just to leave something off. The waitress even checked with the kitchen, and they still said no. That was honestly baffling--not just to us, but to the family we brought with us from out of town. They're from a small country town and couldn't believe that holding back toppings was an issue at all. We ended up talking about it the whole car ride home--how it would actually save the restaurant money, not cost more. Listening to their reaction made me realize how much this place has changed. It used to have that easygoing, small-town charm, but the rigid policy now makes the experience feel less personal and more transactional. We still enjoy the food and the community efforts, but I hope they can find a balance again and bring back some of that flexibility that made them stand out in the first place. read more

The Egg Bistro is located in the Strawbridge Shopping Center in Virginia Beach. The place is easy to see from London Bridge Rd. Since they are in a shopping center, parking is generally available, but they can get filled quickly near the entrance. Additional parking is available across the road in the shopping center with a crosswalk. I hadn't been here for a while, so I wanted to come back for another visit. This visit was on December 26, 2025. My mom and I had gotten here around 8 am. Parking was readily available, and it wasn't too busy inside yet. The outside of the place is easy to see with the large lettering and logo. Since this was still around the holidays, there were snowflakes on the windows. When coming inside, there was a Disney themed holiday display. That was a great touch. We came up to the host stand and they said to just sit where we wanted to. A host came over and gave us menus to start checking things out. Shortly thereafter, our server Grayson came to the table. He asked us what we would want to have for drinks. I decided to go with the Proud Mary since it was half off at that time of day. My mom had gotten a soda. After he came back with the drinks, I asked if there would be a charge to swap the cheeses out, and had to go check. He was able to do it without an upcharge, so I decided to go with the Southwestern Omelet with dressed greens, as I don't normally do potatoes or grits. My mom would go with the Dig In Bowl entree. After about ten minutes or so, the food came out to the table. The food looked really good, and it was definitely hot. The Southwestern Omelet was really good. The ingredients complemented each other very well. This made it a great item for me to have. I will have this again in the future. The funny thing is I had forgotten about the dressed greens, and Grayson brought them over after I had finished the omelet. My mom really liked the Dig In Bowl she had too. Overall, I am glad that I made my way back here. The food and service were on point this time. I love a good brunch, and The Egg Bistro was the perfect stop while visiting VA Beach and heading to the Zoo. It's such a cute colorful place, with a long indoor bar, group seating, and outdoor patio. They're known for their mimosas and they were great! I tried a traditional one with orange juice, and spiced it up on the second one with lychee. The food satisfied my cravings. I had a Belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage Pattie's, and shredded hash browns. Everything was fresh and the waffle was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's been a while since I've eaten at an Egg Bistro, but it has never disappointed. The portions are always generous and the food is delicious. I opted for the limited special, the gingerbread pancakes, that came served with a choice of meat, hash browns, and eggs. Service was good considering how busy it was on a Sunday at 10am. It was around 11am when we decided to come get some food and we did call ahead for a wait time and they estimated 10-15 min. We got there and unfortunately, it was 35-45min. We were a bit confused per our pre call but yk what. They made up for it because that food was way too guud. Went to breakfast at the Egg Bistro this morning with my Sweetheart the wait was 30 mins, the texted us in 15 min yea. The waiter was phenomenal he stayed on top of the orders with a smile. The salty ham breakfast. Was great, with hash brown potatoes and scrambled egg whites, my fried had pepper bacon,scrambled eggs, potatoes and 2plate size pancakes. It has been a while since I have been to The Egg Bistro since moving to Suffolk. I remember the service use to be memorable and it was nice that some servers would remember us. The whole vibe of restaurant has seemed to change. The service isn't what it used to be. My most recent visit, the server was unaware they had opened up the back of the restaurant, so about 4-5 tables (including my husband and I) were sitting there for about 10 minutes before we saw the server. We ordered our drinks, but you could tell that the server was a bit flustered, which is not a big deal, but she ended up forgetting to take my order, so I politely stopped her before she left the table (it was just 2 of us). After about 30 minutes, my husband's food was delivered to our table and he was waiting for mine to come out so we could eat together. The server checked in on us about 15 minutes later and saw that only 1 order was delivered to our table. At this moment my husband's food was cold and my food was lukewarm. Needless to say, as much as I love half of mimosas, we most likely may be taking a break from this establishment for a while. My wife and I had brunch there today. As usual the food was great, our server Julia was wonderful. She was personal, efficient and we never had to ask for anything(refills). She brought it to the table, or asked if we would like other condiments. These are reasons we are regular customers to this location As a side note I tried to scan the bar code at the table. Thursday 8/15/2024 I found about this spot last year and became highly intrigued after exploring the menu highlights to discover their banana bread French toast, cronuts, and cinnamon swirl French toast. I made a takeout order via toast and got the whole banana nut French toast $7.99 and the whole cinnamon French toast $7.99. The service was nice and easy but unfortunately I wasn't able to get the Cronuts due to them no longer being on the menu. - The banana nut bread French toast comes with vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, nuts, and bananas. The French was pretty good and I enjoyed the creativity. As a rating, I'd probably give it like a 7.8/10. - The cinnamon swirl French toast was a HUGE disappointment: it was mediocre and the taste & flavor were underwhelming. When I saw this spot had house made Corned Beef decided to give them a try. Semi busy at noon on a Friday. One of three locations in the area. I didn't want a Reuben and wanted a Corned Beef sandwich. This wasn't on the menu but they met my request which was a nice touch. Excellent Corned Beef and stood on its own (without cheese/Sauerkraut) which is always a good sign. We also ordered the VA Beach Cheesesteak. Chunks of grilled steak made for a tasty sandwich. We finally returned to Egg Bistro after two years(!) and we're so glad we did. I had the Mediterranean Omelet which was stuffed with fresh spinach, beautifully prepared eggs topped with feta. A most savory omelet! My wife had Don's special and the eggs and and bacon were perfectly done. Even the toast was perfect. We were both disappointed in the cubed home fries since they were overcooked. But the shredded home fries were very tasty and fresh. Most restaurants fail on shredded potatoes so this was a nice surprise. Oh and the coffee was rich and fresh! The staff was very friendly. My only problem here is the acoustics which are very loud and it's hard to have a conversation without raising your voice. But many people would probably disagree with me. It's just my personal beef. Egg bistro is usually very crowded and rightly so. Lucky for us, we came at an odd hour, and we seated immediately and were very pleasantly surprised. I've been to the other location and I wasn't a fan, so I didn't have high hopes here. I was pleasantly surprised with our visit. We showed up by 730, early yes, but with three small kids, it was the best decision we could have made. There's a sign telling you to seat yourselves, and we had met up with my brother and brother-in-law. Getting to pick our own table for the 6 and a 1/2 of us was a dream. We were taken care of by Cruz and she was absolutely lovely. First, I've got to say, I LOVED her energy. The way she interacted with us made it feel like we've been good friends for years. It's been a while since we've received such genuine care when dining out, especially when we bring out the kiddos. She was so kind and patient. 5 stars strictly for her wonderful service, hands down. I did only do 4 stars because I got the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was so dry. It's like they dragged this poor chicken to a desert to live out it's final days. Real sad since it was a costar of the dish. The waffles were nice, nothing special about them, but they were good none the less. I mean, it had to be good if my 5 year old just snatched a whole piece from me. Kids are feral I tell you; but back to the dish, the syrup was just syrup, however the caramel bourbon? Chefs kiss. Loved it. I want to say before 9 (correct me if I'm wrong!) mimosas are 1/2 off. We got a cute little flight for a steal. I don't really drink alcohol but they weren't terrible. You can pick your flavors and if I had to choose, I really liked the apple orchard one. If I had to pick between the two locations, I'd easily come here and make the drive. Cruz also said she's there most weekends, so if you go, I highly recommend her! I know I'll ask for her next time. And remember, your waitress/waiter ISNT the one cooking your food, it's literally out of their hands. Be kind to them, they're people too. If you can't be nice, then you should cook for yourself at home. I've been going to The Egg Bistro for over 5 years. Why I haven't reviewed this amazing place is beyond me. I live in Richmond but every summer I spend time at Virginia Beach and almost always find my way to The Egg Bistro. Is it the endless mimosas? Sometimes. For me it's the service. Even during those dark days of the pandemic, the staff kept it moving. I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is good, especially the morning after drinking on the beach all day. We were camping at the KOA nearby and stopped by for breakfast based on other Yelp reviews. Loved it so much we came back a second time before hitting the road. The vibe is friendly and warm. The space is bright, and has just the right amount of buzz with music and conversation. We really enjoyed the comfortable (and clean!) booths lining the windows and every dish ordered was on point. Tried and loved the Benny & The Grits (epic) and the Chicken Biscuit Stack (also epic), coffee was good, our kiddo loved the smiley face pancakes, and there are plenty of offerings for vegan and diabetic diets. We received a text and came in to then be told the online system isn't accurate so we waited an additional 15-20 mins. We finally were able to sit and we ordered our food. My family was in town to visit relatives and we wanted to thank them for their hospitality by taking everyone to breakfast. Found Egg Bistro on Yelp and it was also recommended by my sister that lives nearby. We arrived at 8 am on a Saturday and they accommodated our group of 12 by putting tables together. (I wouldn't arrive much later with a large group because it filled up quickly) Our waitress Kristen was pleasant and professional and made sure our experience was smooth. Additionally, the staff seemed to be a tight unit and everyone supported each other well. The food arrived at optimal temperature etc. The menu has a lot of great choices and everyone found something they liked. They also include things that might be an extra charge elsewhere. (2 eggs, a meat, and potatoes or grits were included with many of the breakfast choices) I went with the pineapple upside down pancakes, turkey sausages, and grits. The pancakes were awesome, the pineapple was a nice addition. All of the side items were great also. My wife enjoyed her omelette and the kids were happy also. Nephews destroyed their dishes, cousins, parents, etc were all pleased. The locals are lucky to have Egg Bistro. I'll be back when we're in town again! read more

It's not Bc it's bad; I think it just escaped me then it got too far out from our visit for me to be accurate with details. Anyway, we went on a Saturday and remembered that they have a very dog friendly patio area. So we grabbed our black lab and drove rover to find a large gathering of people outside. I went in and gave my name and number; one of the hostesses quotes a 20 minute wait while someone who looked like a supervisor asked me about my seating preference. I told her we brought our pup and would need patio seating; she smiled and said, "ahh, it's prob looking like 10-15 minutes." I replied "that's perfect."
