Eddy's Cafe is located in the Red Mill Commons area of Virginia Beach. This part of the Red Mill Commons area where the restaurant is located is basically just east of the Walmart Supercenter and can be seen from Upton Drive. The two main roads they are located in between is Nimmo Pkwy and Elson Green Ave. My most recent visit here was on June 6, 2026. With the place being located in a shopping center, parking wasn't an issue, even though it was on a Saturday morning. The outside of the place is simple, but you can see the place easily with the green lettering. When my mom and I came inside, we were able to just find a table and then they would come by in a moment. It was a bit busy, but I was surprised that it took them several minutes to finally come to the table to get the menus and drink orders placed. Once the drinks came to the table, our server asked us if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite yet. I went with water with lemon for a drink while my mom went with Pepsi since they have Pepsi products here. She came back a few minutes later, and we were finally ready to order. I decided to go with the French Toast Breakfast Specialty along with Crispy Bacon, 2 Eggs, and a Biscuit on the side as a la carte items. My mom went with the 2 Eggs & 2 Items Breakfast Special. She did hers with French Toast (1.5 Slices), Crispy Bacon, and two scrambled eggs. It was less than 10 minutes for the food to come out, which was a nice surprise considering how busy they were on this visit. The entrees looked really good and hot when they came out. I don't do the syrups any longer due to the high sugar content, so I just did the French Toast with butter on it, which was good the way it was. The bacon was nice and crispy, along with the scrambled eggs being good too. The biscuit was a great way to finish off the meal. Although the meal did elevate the glucose higher than I thought, it was still good. My mom said the food she had was good too, and there were no issues. Overall, this experience was better than the last time I was here about ten years ago. The service was a little off at first since it took awhile for them to get to the table originally. There was a feeling of being rushed to order, but I guess that's because it is a small space inside with limited seating. One thing to note about that is if you come on a weekend or a holiday, there is a limit of 90 minutes to be there. If you're in the Red Mill Commons area and looking for a breakfast spot, this place is still worth considering. read more

Service is the best. Some servers have been here atleast 18 years. Super friendly and always making sure you have everything you need and want. It is our favorite breakfast spot and they have wonderful lunch too. Great menu. Omelettes are perfect. Nice and fluffy and plenty to fill you up. Fried wontons are good too. Pancakes are perfect and fluffy and I think they taste like vanilla. So yummy. I pair mine with the link sausage because I like salty and sweet. The chicken fried steak is my usual and I love it . We tried the corned beef hash and that was amazing with scrambled eggs and French toast. The French toast is exactly the way I like it. The lunch sandwiches are so good with nice fresh veggies and the bread is butter toasted. Oh my goodness!!! So yummy. Honestly this is a LOCALS favorite place to eat. Since I live nearby, I've driven by Eddy's Cafe quite a few times and had yet to stop in so I decided to head over and grab some breakfast last month. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was able to sit where I wanted. The restaurant definitely had a small town, diner vibe and you could tell it was a local's favorite. After looking over the menu, I decided on the French Toast, Eddy's Omelet and a cup of coffee. The food was brought out fairly quickly and my server made sure I had everything I needed, which was very nice. Unfortunately, the French Toast was not my favorite. It had zero flavor and tasted like fried bread, some powdered sugar would've helped it out a lot. The Eddy's Omelet was actually pretty good though. It included cheese, bacon, green peppers, onions and tomatoes with a special sauce drizzled on top. When my bill came, it was $30 which I thought was quite pricey for what I ordered. The service was great but the food was pretty mediocre, in my opinion. Not sure if I would return unfortunately. read more

I took my mother to Eddie's Cafe for breakfast on Mother's Day, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. As we were walking to our table (the restaurant has self-seating), my mother politely asked the owner if she could lower a window shade because the sun was shining directly in her face. The owner immediately responded, "No, no, can't do," and walked away. We ended up moving ourselves to another table where the sun wasn't an issue. What made this frustrating is that the shades are pull-down blinds, and in the past I've seen them adjusted for other customers. After ordering, everyone at our table received their food except me. All I ordered was two poached eggs, bacon, and French toast. About 10 minutes after everyone else's meals arrived, my food was finally brought out. By that point, the rest of the table was nearly finished eating. To make matters worse, my poached eggs contained multiple pieces of eggshell, forcing me to pick shells out of my mouth while eating. The eggs were also cold rather than warm. Another issue occurred when my mother asked for decaffeinated tea. The restaurant didn't have any decaf tea bags available, so she used one she had brought in her purse and simply requested a glass of hot water. The owner provided the hot water but charged her for it. When my mother asked why she was being charged despite supplying her own tea bag, the owner replied, "Because you use our hot water." I found this unreasonable, especially considering that customers are not charged for glasses of cold water. The overall condition of the restaurant has also declined significantly. The restroom was dirty and dusty and appeared not to have been cleaned thoroughly in quite some time. The furniture was worn, damaged, and covered with chipped paint. Eddie's Cafe used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots, but based on this visit, the quality of both the service and the facility has deteriorated considerably. My mom was in a wheelchair and that was absolutely not a problem. Service was friendly.....small town friendly with refills on coffee and water without asking. This breakfast spot was a really nice surprise for my husband and I. We honestly just stumbled upon this place when driving through the plaza and decided to check it out for brunch. Immediately when walking in, the whole place was bustling and all the booths were filled, but the hostess in the front said that there were 2 seats available at the counter in the back, which my husband and I didn't mind eating at. Right when we sat down, a waitress greeted us and took our drinks and a few minutes after took our orders. We really didn't have to wait much for anything right when we sat down. I ordered the eggs benedict with crab meat and my husband got the steak and eggs. Everything was delicious and hit the spot when we finished. I'm very impressed by the time wait time for my food! It took maybe about 10 minutes for my food to come out. I ordered the "He Man" breakfast with over medium eggs, hashbrowns with grilled onions, country sausage, and sourdough bread. Everything was good. I will say that the hashbrowns were only "topped" with onions and not cooked in it. Also, I found the hashbrowns to be dry. I believe all of the servers share tips which is why everyone is so friendly. I could be wrong. Overall, no complaints. This is a decent place to get breakfast. I will note that there doesn't seem to be much diversity at this cafe. My aunt mentioned that all the years she had dined at Eddy's there have not been people of color (brown/black) that worked here.
