Since I live nearby, I've driven by Eddy's Cafe quite a few times and had yet to stop in so I decided to head over and grab some breakfast last month. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was able to sit where I wanted. The restaurant definitely had a small town, diner vibe and you could tell it was a local's favorite. After looking over the menu, I decided on the French Toast, Eddy's Omelet and a cup of coffee. The food was brought out fairly quickly and my server made sure I had everything I needed, which was very nice. Unfortunately, the French Toast was not my favorite. It had zero flavor and tasted like fried bread, some powdered sugar would've helped it out a lot. The Eddy's Omelet was actually pretty good though. It included cheese, bacon, green peppers, onions and tomatoes with a special sauce drizzled on top. When my bill came, it was $30 which I thought was quite pricey for what I ordered. The service was great but the food was pretty mediocre, in my opinion. Not sure if I would return unfortunately.

A good local restaurant with a diner vibe, good basic food and reasonable prices. Came early on a Sunday morning and we were greeted immediately and sat immediately. My mom was in a wheelchair and that was absolutely not a problem. Service was friendly.....small town friendly with refills on coffee and water without asking. And I love the non matching cute, feel like home coffee mugs. My mom got a bagel. Can't mess that up. My sister got biscuits and gravy and she cleared her plate. I got the bagel sandwich with bacon and the bagel was extra toasted per my request. Only thing was I asked for shredded potatoes and got cubed. No biggie....it's all delicious. Breakfast came out fast. Food was great. I would definitely go back for a basic breakfast that is fast and reasonable. Plenty of seating in booths and it looked like a diner style bar seating in back. Plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center.

Classic American diner with your favorite breakfast dishes. Decent seating inside and fairly busy on weekends. Vast menu options and very well priced. Don't recommend the chipped beef- not much flavor and very little beef. Can't go wrong with classic eggs and shredded hash browns. Good place to go away from the oceanfront during busy event weekends

Eddy's Cafe is like a cozy home away from home. The staff there are friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, even when it got busy. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed their eggs because I'm not really an "egg" person! It might just become my new favorite spot to hang out.

This breakfast spot was a really nice surprise for my husband and I. We honestly just stumbled upon this place when driving through the plaza and decided to check it out for brunch. Immediately when walking in, the whole place was bustling and all the booths were filled, but the hostess in the front said that there were 2 seats available at the counter in the back, which my husband and I didn't mind eating at. Right when we sat down, a waitress greeted us and took our drinks and a few minutes after took our orders. We really didn't have to wait much for anything right when we sat down. I ordered the eggs benedict with crab meat and my husband got the steak and eggs. Everything was delicious and hit the spot when we finished. Even the lady sitting next to me asked me what my food was, she said that it looked super delicious. This place has a homey feeling where everyone will take care of you. We will definitely be coming back for another brunch date!

Finally had a day off to stop in and try the food here. I've stopped by on weekends before and left because I was too impatient to wait for a table. A Friday at 1:30 was perfect timing. No wait at all. Service was great, waitress was attentive and friendly and the food was good. I had the eggs benedict with crab and it didn't disappoint. Yeah it lacked a little seasoning and I added some salt and pepper but everything was cooked perfectly. I would definitely come back for breakfast and would try other foods on the menu.

Our server was Lauryn, and she was great. She was nice and attentive but not worrisome. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Curds along with the house made Sangria. As an entree, I had the whiskey burger with truffle fries. I really liked the cheese curds; they're a lot flavorful than traditional mozzarella sticks. The house made sangria was really good too! We had to stop ourselves from just sucking it down. The burger is where I had the issue. It was a little on the dry side.... Too well done despite asking for medium. It also wasn't seasoned well. The only flavor rally came from the bbq sauce and onion straws. The truffle fries were good though. The menu said they won't best burger of Virginia Beach, and that was made me get a burger. Not the best burger I've ever had. Next time, I will try the pizza and probably go to the Shore drive location since that is closer to my house. Again, the vibe, service, and scenery was worth the drive.. the food not so much.

Each table gets complimentary sweet potato biscuits. They don't tell you this so when you order a half dozen biscuits you'll be surprised when you get so many of them. Then they arrive undercooked, looking like someone had a vendetta against following a recipe. They looked and tasted like a mushy, undercooked cookie. Fried shrimp was mostly bread and tough. Crab legs were overcooked and dry. Sweet potato fries were mushy, like they were frozen fries that were heated and then reheated in the microwave after sitting out. Mashed potatoes were somehow crunchy like it was instant mix that wasn't mixed properly. I don't understand how there was such a long line for this place when there are other greater restaurants in VB.

Now the burnt ends... OMG, amazing. Easily one of the highlights of the night. Our lamb chops weren't originally cooked to the temperature we requested, but the flavor was good and they quickly re-prepared them with no issue, which we appreciated. For dessert, the chocolate layer cake was amazing, and the red velvet mini cake was just as good. Our server was also fantastic. They are located behind the Panera Bread and can be seen from Upton Dr. My most recent visit here was on January 18, 2026. From the outside, you can see the sign for the business on the side and out front. There is some limited outdoor seating as well. With other businesses along that stretch and such, parking can be limited during peak times. I can attest to that as parking was limited when I came on January 16, 2026 (this wasn't an issue on the most recent visit). The reason for two visits pretty close together was because this was during Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. The visit on January 16, 2026 was for dinner and the visit on January 18, 2026 was for breakfast. Starting with the dinner visit on January 16, 2025, it was already pretty busy in there as there was a large party event going on with half of the seating area. This probably explains why parking was limited that evening. Even though that was the case, we were immediately greeted and able to be seated. It wasn't long before our server Megan came to the table. She asked us what we wanted to drink. I went with water with lemon and mom got a coke. It would take us a bit of time to choose what we wanted. I ended up going with the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer and Fried Shrimp Platter for the entree. My mom went with the Corn Chowder appetizer and Crab Cake Dinner as the entree. After about five minutes, the appetizers came out to the table. The Firecracker Shrimp were very tasty and flavorful. My mom loved the Corn Chowder that she ordered. About ten minutes after that, the entrees came to the table. Both foods looked good and they were hot as expected. I really liked the fried shrimp as it wasn't overly breaded either. It had a great taste. The fries were good too, and they were like an indulgence for me. The coleslaw was good too. My mom liked the Crab Cake Dinner that she had. The last part was the dessert. I knew this would spike my blood sugars, but I went with the Peanut Butter Pie, and my mom went with the Oreo Outlaw dessert. It didn't take long for those to come out, and that was the ultimate indulgence to finish off the evening. The second visit during the morning on January 18, 2026 for the Breakfast/Lunch version of their restaurant week menu. This was the first time I had been here for breakfast. We had the same server we had a few days before at the dinner version. On this visit, for the appetizer, I decided to try the Risotto Bites and my mom had the Corn Chowder again. For the entree, we both did the Classic French Toast, though I did mine with bacon, and my mom did hers with Edwards Sausage. The Risotto Bites were really good and had a nice flavor to them. The Classic French Toast was a great indulgence for me too. It was soft and hot. The bacon was great too. Overall, I have had some great experiences here recently. The food and service are top notch. There is ample seating inside, and there is some limited outdoor seating. They have daily food specials during the week too. This is definitely a locally owned place to check out for any meal of the day.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

They've made some updates since my last review. I noticed they swapped out the bar stools for what seem to be a bit more accommodating in style. I believe they have a cornhole section and from what I could tell, an area that could be really fun during the warmer months. The overall vibe is so quirky, cool, different, and I just love how it's decorated. The other locations have the same sort of intrigue but in much different ways. I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Another positive is the food quantity, quality, and price for what you are getting. Sure, almost every food establishment had to raise their price, but Bay Local seem to be very reasonable, ESPECIALLY for what you get. I know several other places that have good food, but you are paying several dollars more for what Bay Local offers that is similar (in some cases) but not slacking on portion control and quality. That is huge! Bay Local is a "well-oiled machine" with management, staff, and operations (not their first rodeo).
