This place is a locally owned breakfast place in Red Mill Commons. It's not too far from the Golden Corral. The inside of the place was not anything fancy of any sort. This is what I would expect for the most part for locally owned places such as this. I finally made it back in here for breakfast after a three year hiatus. Three years ago, there were some issues that occurred with the orders and that was a major reason why it took me this long to come back. In that visit over three years ago, the order was just totally messed up. I think orders ended up going to the wrong tables, as we weren't the only ones that had that issue then. That does happen and I get it, but it just left me with the thought that I didn't want to come back for a while. Each time I've been in has been on a weekend, and they are usually pretty packed. Fast forward to 2016. I made it back in here last week for the first time in three years. What finally brought me back in was that I was in that area anyways, and decided to see how the recent reviews for here were. They looked really good, so that's what made my decision to come back in. Once inside, there was one at the front to seat us. It took a moment as they needed to clear off the table, as the place was fully packed. This isn't unusual for a Sunday morning. Once seated, our server came to the table and took our drink orders. Once she came back with the drinks, she asked if we were ready to order, and we were. I did their combination at the top of the first page of the menu, which you get to choose from a few different items. I had french toast, bacon, and eggs. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the food did come out cold. The syrup that they give you for breakfast is also not heated. I ended up not saying much as the server didn't really come back to the table until we were about done to drop off the check. This is the reason I've only given them a three rating. Otherwise, this would have easily been four stars, as the food comes out fairly quickly. I wonder if it sat for a while before it got out to my table. Given the overall experience, I'll give them a chance in the future, but it might be a while. There are quite a few other local breakfast places that I like as well. The prices are commensurate with what you get, so it does tend to be a bit cheaper than other places in the area as well. read more

I've been meaning to stop in and give this place a try since I started frequenting the shops at Red Mill and such. I've seen that it has pretty good reviews on Yelp so today, when everything else was closed for Easter Sunday Breakfast/Brunch, I brought my out of town bff in for breakfast. We were promptly seated at a booth of our choice and greeted fairly quickly by a waitress who took our drink order. Another waitress came a few minutes later to ask if we'd been helped and we said yes. She was the one who eventually took our order though the other did bring our drinks. I take forever to decide because I'm a health nut so i asked the lady to take my order last - when it was my turn she left! lol. I think she forgot, she seemed nice enough I'm sure it wasn't intentional. After waiting a few moments and seeing her go back to the kitchen to probably put the order in, then going to two other tables, we flagged down the waitress who brought us drinks and explained I hadn't ordered so she took my order, the western omelet with hash browns and raisin toast, and ran to put it in too so it could all come out at the same time. The food was out really fast, probably less than 10 minutes and closer to 5 and mine came with everyone else's so I was happy about that because I was pretty hungry. The hash browns looked funny, more like a potato cake than has browns, but they tasted absolutely delicious. My omelet was good and fresh. It had tomato, onion, cheese, and peppers mixed in it. My raisin toast was good as well, I haven't had that in years. I ordered a large orange juice for like $2.79 or so and it was a huge glass I barely finished. They were prompt with the coffee refills and quickly removed, as a team effort, all plates as soon as we finished up with them. We sat for another 20 minutes or so visiting with my friend who was driving home after breakfast and they came to see if we needed anything else a few times (refills, removed plates) and brought the check. The meal was very reasonably priced for the large portions and amount of food we all ordered. Three people ate for around $30 and we had a lot of food. I saw some lunch and dinner items that looked yummy on the menu so I'll come back for sure. I have nothing bad to say about this place. read more

I was in the vicinity and needed to get some breakfast. The criteria: quick and cheap. I pulled out my trusty Yelp app and this place was at the top of the list. When I got there around 9.30am on a Saturday morning it was very busy. I was dining alone so they recommended the bar and I gladly obliged. I got the Eggs Benedict with hash browns. My dish was just okay and didn't blow me away, and for price of $9 bucks I guess I should have expected that. The hollandaise sauce was average and the biscuit wasn't very flavorful, I think I actually liked the hash browns the most. The service was quick and friendly and I got checked on multiple times during my visit. I think this place is more of quick service and cheap (decent) food. If I am in the area again I would probably go somewhere else for my breakfast cravings. read more

This morning my family and I enjoyed delicious omelettes that were out of this world delicious. I like the fact that the omelettes are not greasy and over loaded with cheese to take the place of what you actually order in your omelette. I call this unnecessary fillers which you won't find at Eddies. The waitresses are polite and attentive which you don't find in many restaurants now days. Not a single time did we have to ask for a refill ..how awesome is that? Ummhuh I'd say it's pretty dang awesome! If you'd like to enjoy a fresh meal cooked with love by all means swing by Eddie's you most certainly will not regret it. They serve a variety of things from breakfast to lunch. We opted for a visit to local Eddy's following church today. I am not sure the origin but suspect the original Eddy is long since gone judging from the managers we saw today. This cafe is not overly spacious but provided ample seating for the brunch crowd just after noon. One downer was one of the waitresses chomping on gum like a cow chewing cud while she waited on tables. I mean really this is one of the basic sanitation no-no's in the restaurant industry. There was a minor plating error on our order and the table behind us had errors as well. It might be from the confusion of having three different waitresses hitting our table before the final orders were taken. While I appreciate the attention, I can't help but think it contributes to inconsistent accuracy in the orders. Food was relatively inexpensive and decent portions. The chow was tasty as well. Sometime you just crave that homestyle cafe diner food served with a smile and that good diner coffee that gets refilled as you eat (no two mugs have the same pattern here, it's great, very homely). Went for the 2 eggs and 2 other items option. $5.99, is a great price for 2 sunny side ups (as asked for), a sausage patty and a couple of pancakes. What a bargain. This is not a topical for me to write a review. However, I'd like to share my experience while leaving the restaurant was absolutely humiliating experience for me. I'll begin with a fact that me and my husband are fairly new to the area. We discovered the restaurant and its offering's 8 months ago. We went inside a number of times, as we kept ordering every every Saturday to go. The meals are always the same (Corn beef hash meal), and it has never been a problem to place an order. For some odd reason there were a connectivity issues over the phone and the person who took the order said "There is no such a thing as corn-beef hash meal, we only have a special that includes two egg, one side item". She was quite intense with me, but I indicated that nobody told me that the meal doesn't exist. Thankfully we were able to complete the request according to my request and I was on my way to pick it up. Well, the treatment/comments made by the employees are absolutely shocked me. When I walked in and was waiting by the register, there were a 2-3 servers/ladies making a comments/statements to each other such as "Here she is", "Looking this way", "People just rude". You know, I felt like the comments were made towards me. But, let's say it was made to someone else. I simply do not want to hear that. It's not only unprofessional but unwelcoming to the business. I must say that the few employees who always served us for quite a while are just a gem to the business. However, I have no idea who took my order over the phone and those ladies by the bar area were no impression to me. Having said, my husband will be back for his favourites. First visit today. The reviews are accurate. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes which is what we wanted. The food was fresh and hot. I had the western omelette, delicious. My hubs had the chipped beef, we do recommend ordering that as a side if you are really hungry. His portion was smaller than he's accustomed to but he said it was still good. read more

Came in on a Monday at 11am for lunch, they were about half-full. I ordered Country Fried Steak, and my wife had the Bacon Cheeseburger. My meal meal came with eggs and toast, and I really enjoyed it. My wife's burger was "huge"! (Her words). It was cooked to order properly and she said it tasted great. The service was excellent also. One thing of note was how short the time is between when we first entered the restaurant, and when our food came to the table. Less than 15 minutes! (I love fast turnaround like that). In short, nice diner with tasty food and great service. FAST cooks during our visit. Folks, when 2 people can both eat a nice meal for 20 bucks, makes you want to forget about fast food places and pay just a couple bucks more for tastier food like this in a diner setting. Eddy's Cafe is your above standard breakfast and lunch spot. We come here occasionally when its a lazy weekend and the idea of cooking our own food is repugnant. There are no surprises on the menu which is just fine. It is straight up eggs, pancakes, benedicts, sausage gravy over biscuits. The two great things going for Eddy's are the lightning fast service and seriously cheap prices. You can literally get seated, order and eat your food in under 15 minutes all while spending less than 20 bucks total for two people. The only thing you don't get here is a place to take a nap after stuffing your belly full of all that delicious breakfast food. You have to go home to do that. read more

That's generally a sign that the food is good and my expectations were met. The restaurant has a serious mom and pop feel to it. Nothing extravagant or edgy. I'm a 5 time patron of Eddy's Cafe, and I can only say it's been because it will accommodate a group of 25. We always give the heads up of our coming and the tables are set and ready when we arrive. Food is edible. BUT It's not clean by my standards: when was it last vacuumed, swept or dusted? The walls are dirty and paint chipped and the rug hasn't been cleaned in what looks like ever. There are sections of carpet along the molding speckled with crumbs that have been sitting there since my last visit!! What's going on in the kitchen if the public areas are so nasty. read more

Visited a friend's hometown for the 4th of July weekend so we stopped at Eddy's Cafe the morning after for brunch. I'm not sure what Virginia Beach's brunch scene is like but do not come here for boozy brunch. We all tried to order Mimosas and Bloody Mary's only to find out that they do not serve alcohol. Been here twice: First time: I came with my family and we had great service, great food, and were completely satisfied with the experience. Probably could have gotten 5 stars. Second time: I came with my friends (we're all young adults) and our server ignored us the whole time. She came to our table twice. Once to take the orders and once to bring drinks. I don't know what the heck happened, because she talked with the "regulars" at other tables fine and offered them great service. She walked by so many times without even glancing at us. This is one of my favorite Mom & Pop's local diners. The quality of food is a notch above iHop, although I wouldn't recommend the cheese omelets at either place, since they both use processed cheese. Yuck! Their Belgian Waffle is tasty and they are quick to refill your freshly brewed coffee. The service is great! A decent meal for a fair price. This family owned business is a big supporter of local police and EMTs. They are frequent fliers here. read more

I love Eddy's. They have great customer service and pretty decent food for a fair price. What l like the most though is that they have never once messed up my eggs. I'm pretty finicky about my over hard eggs actually being cooked all the way through while not being burned. Many places often burn them or leave the middles uncooked.
