Amazing brunch spot! Got there early on a saturday and beat the rush. The croissant French toast was so good! Flaky and delicious sweetness. The country fried steak plate was so much food and so delicious. Inside is a little cramped but thats to accommodate how busy and popular it is.

Tried Brick House Diner this morning for the first time ! I go to the orthodontist across the street and always see it, so I was excited to give it a try! The staff were very nice from the hostess to the server! The decor is modern, and the restaurant is very clean. The service was fast as well. We literally got our food within 10 minutes of ordering, and everything was hot and fresh! I tried the country fried steak skillet with pancakes and have no complaints! I will definitely be back!

Stopped by on a Saturday morning. Busy. But somehow, the brunch gods smiled upon us, and we got seated right away. The place is cozy and well lit. A nice board of specials and a dangerously tempting cocktail menu greeted us--because nothing says "good morning" like a little booze. The menu? Loaded. Tons of build-your-own options for eggs and combos, which meant I could pretend I was making responsible choices while still indulging. I went for the protein omelette (because gains) and blueberry pancakes (because balance). Shockingly, the omelette slapped- fluffy, flavorful, and didn't taste like punishment. The pancakes? Absolute perfection, like a warm hug from a carb-loving grandma. And let's talk about the Sunrise Mimosa. Just the right amount of booze, enough to take the edge off the week but not enough to make bad decisions. Final verdict: If you're looking for a brunch spot that caters to both your inner gym rat and your weekend indulgences, this place delivers. Would I come back? Absolutely. Will I pretend it's for the "protein options" again? Probably.

I had the pleasure of having breakfast at the Brick House Diner this morning for the first time. This was the first time I've been to the restaurant, and I was thoroughly impressed by the food, the weight staff, and the overall feel of the restaurant. Their portion sizes were absolutely amazing for the price and their staff was extremely friendly. The interior felt rustic, but modern at the same time. I would highly recommend going to this restaurant, and as this was my first time that I had ever been, I'm even now more curious to see what their lunch and dinner options are like. The caption that I shared in the picture explains what I ordered however, they have many other foods, so much so that their breakfast menu was front and back alone. Other members of my party also got bacon, grits, and/or toast and said that it was also amazing.

I've been interested in trying this place so my friend invited me and said I needed to try it so that was two confirmations lol. Very clean and well maintained on the inside and outside, staff was great and so was our waitress. I would say the only issue I had was the eggplant was cold other than that. A great experience, I was told the breakfast is good so I will definitely be back sometime soon!

Herd this place is pretty awesome! So I had to try mostly cause I'm all about breakfast. The inside decor clean and modern. The service was great. I ordered the "BHD Crab Benedict " and it was the bomb! Most places do not auto add tomatoes and spinach, but this place does. And no skimping here. Just look at my pic. I always have the hollandaise sauce on the side, cause I like to add my own amount of sauce.Home fries also tasty! Also side of bacon and they gave about 5 strips most places only give you 3. Definitely worth the buck all the way! Will definitely come back and try other tasty dishes!

The food is good. Not great but good. The interior is very nice and clean. The service on the other hand is hit or miss. I was here on a Monday @ 10am. They are not busy especially for the amount of staff they have here. My food was delivered to me fast. Ok great. But the waitress dropped off the food and never came back to check on my party. Oh and it was a party of 2. I got toast with my breakfast and you didn't bring me jelly or stop back to check to know I'd like jelly. My coffee was then left to sit empty for half my meal. The only reason they are getting two stars is because the food was good. Then when I'm done eating you bring me the bill. Never was asked if we wanted anything else. Just dropped the bill and walked away. Then 1 minute later you're coming to ask if you're ready for me to pay. No, no I'm not. You paid more attention to me to get money than to provide service. Shame on you.

This restaurant is not far from me and it's been on my list as a place I need to try for breakfast. So I finally decided to go and give it a try! Was greeted immediately by a friendly hostess. There was no wait I assumed I missed the breakfast rush because I got there around 10:30am! I asked the waitress what does she recommend the French toast or pancakes she informed me that the french toast is really good and very popular. So I decided to give it a try with a side of home fries. The French toast was your typical French toast nothing fancy, no complaints. The home fries were okay a little undercooked but good in flavor. I would definitely go back and would definitely recommend. I might have to try lunch there. By the way they had what appeared to be delicious looking cake. So I might have to stop by to get a slice.

Fun little spot to bring some friends and enjoy a good diner meal. Very reasonably priced, clean/comfortable place, friendly staff, good food, and good service. First time and I would come back!

This is a nice diner with a relaxing vibe. Service was friendly and fast. The food was made well and enjoyable. I definitely want to come again and try other items on the menu.

Hearty breakfast and reasonably priced. The restaurant isn't big and there could be a wait during peak hours. We were seated right away and the restaurant was packed. Food came out in a timely manner.

We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed…read morescotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

Needless to say the food was so good, pics proved to have zero chance. Sooo after a rough week, a Saturday late morning breakfast was calling for a much needed downtime to sit and enjoy... and well here we go: Some say happiness in a bottle, I say Happiness in a glass! Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. Really awesome to see that as the next few tables were a mix of families with and without kids, in laws, aunts and uncles just coming together for amazing food, great and accurate service, and overall fantastic experience ina random Saturday morning!

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.
