The Rustic Spoon is my favorite brunch restaurant in the entire 757. They take online reservations if you plan ahead Food: The carnitas is to die for. I've had the hash and the Benedict. I recommend the Benedict because it fills you up more. The has is delicious though. My husband always gets the carnitas omelette and he says it's the best omelette he's ever had. Drinks: You can never go wrong with their crushes. Their key lime crush tastes like a key lime pie. Service: Always good. The one time our food came out late was when the kitchen lost our ticket. Our server apologized profusely and even said our next round of drinks were on her Ambiance: Very laid back atmosphere. They have a patio if you want outdoor seating

The place was buzzing with excitement as people w with family and friends for dinner! Lina T. provided fast and friendly service. She was so kind and knowledgeable! She quickly took our drink and meal orders. The food came out quickly and was served fresh!! It was so well orchestrated how multiple servers quickly passed out entrees so adeptly and masterfully! We ordered the Beef Stroganoff, the filet mignon, the salmon salad and the Scotch Egg! I loved my salmon salad!! It was such a generous serving of perfectly cooked salmon atop a bed of fresh greens and candied pecans!! It was so filling!! We celebrated our friend's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience!! Highly recommend this wonderful place!!!

We were here on assignment and a friend recommended this place for good comfort food. It was quiet Tuesday so we were greeted and widely seated. The place has a bar feel and casual. Upon seating, our waitress Faith came, introduced herself, and took our order drinks while we look over the menu. We decided both brunch & lunch. In a short wait everything came out hot. Overall the service was great, food delicious & great for group casual dining.

Nothing but great service from the moment we arrived. This is a very cutesy and cozy establishment. There's adequate seating with two levels and a patio (you don't feel on top of each other). I was happy they accepted reservations. Kimberli B., our waitress, was a gym! Very attentive and kind. Our party ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp and Grits, Filet Mignon Benedict, Monte Cristo. Everyone loved the smokey flavor of the Brussels. The shrimp and grits were very filling and full of flavor w/ a kick. My friend said, "The cream sauce is a chef's kiss!" Monte Cristo was flavorful with a nice sweetness to it that melts in your mouth. My other friend stated the Filet Mignon Benedict is "Heaven in your mouth!" Suggestion: Order it medium well. She ordered it medium and it came out medium rare (still good). Everyone was full and happy from their meals!

I met my mom and dad here on a Saturday morning the day before Mother's Day. Luckily they had a reservation cause it was quite busy, but I loved the interior decor. Our waitress came over quickly and I ordered a creamsickle crush, which was delicious. I also ordered an eggs Benedict, which was also delicious and a large portion that I was able to take home and eat for another meal. We had a great time. The service was amazing and look forward to going back!

We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed scotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

The Rustic Spoon is a must visit! The food is absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffle oh my goodness delicious perfectly crispy on the outside, just how I like my waffle. The chicken is a boneless thigh tender and juicy. My sister said the seafood omelette was full of good seafood very refreshing and flavorful. Also, while I didn't order the potatoes but I tried them from another plate at the table and oh my goodness I love good potatoes. The atmosphere was quiet and spacious, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. The service was exceptional, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and great service. I can't wait to return!

The Rustic Spoon is a local favorite and was quite busy during Saturday lunch. The staff were upbeat and took good care of us. I ordered the Smash Burger and my son ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Mac n Cheese. Our food was hot and came out promptly. My son said the sandwich was the best Chicken Sandwich he has tried in Virginia. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

    Lemosa

This place is amazing. Had the stuffed French toast and Lemosa for brunch and it was sooooo friggn awesome. The service was on point and the outside dining area was kept clean by attentitive staff. Note: If you like teeny tiny bites look elsewhere. The food is generous and tasteful and an experience in itself. I would come back here again when in town

I decided to give Rustic Spoon another try after not being impressed with my Cuban Sandwich in my first visit. Both visits the service was great! The staff were inviting and friendly. It was a cold day so we asked to be near a heater vent and they offered for us to sit near the fire place. Now let's get to what this review is really about THE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST! It had a nice presentation and was absolutely delicious! It was more of a desert so I got Brussels sprouts to balance it out . Both entrees could have feed 3 ppl.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was perfect. We were seated in a booth near the live band, and it created such a fun, relaxing vibe. The dim lighting gave the restaurant a cozy, intimate feel that was perfect for a night out and really added to the overall ambiance. Before our entrées arrived, we couldn't stop eating the focaccia. It was warm, fresh, and so flavorful that we immediately wished there had been more. We also ordered the beef kebabs with chimichurri sauce, and they were incredible. The beef was tender, and the bright, herb-filled chimichurri brought everything together perfectly. Honestly, I could have used another serving of both the bread and the sauce! By the time our main courses arrived, we were already pleasantly full, but that didn't stop us from enjoying every bite. My husband is a creature of habit--ever since our first date, he usually orders the same or very similar dishes. The only reason he branches out is because I love cooking and introducing him to new flavors, or he'll happily steal a bite from my plate when we go out. This time, he ordered the steak with mashed potatoes, and it was cooked beautifully. The steak was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes. Between the delicious food, the live music, and the inviting atmosphere, this restaurant made my birthday celebration even more memorable. It's the kind of place that's perfect for a special occasion or a romantic date night, and I'd gladly come back again.

The place inside is very cute and reminds me of a nice punk pop bar. The bar wraps around and there's some tables and a side table that we sat at to eat. I ordered one of their specialty coffees and it is quite the journey but I enjoyed it with the ginger beer and the coffee. My quiche was fluffy and delicious. It jiggled when I tapped it and the side salad tasted great with dill in it and it brightened up things. The combination of both was great. The crust on the quiche was nice as well. My spouse enjoyed their sandwich but didn't realize there was mustard so he ended up just using the chips to eat his egg and sausage. His egg was also fluffy. The patrons that came seemed friendly and you can tell who are locals since they greeted by name often. I love that this place is open. They also have local wine you can purchase. Next time we're back in town, we will visit again.

There were tons of appetizers to snack on throughout the night. Hummus and pita, charcuterie, chips with salsa and queso, all the good, crowd pleasing stuff done well. Everything was fresh and easy to grab, which worked perfectly for a party setting. The best part by far was the taco bar. I had the beef tacos and they were seriously some of the best tacos I've had in a while. The beef was super flavorful and cooked perfectly, and I definitely went back for more than one. You know it's good when everyone keeps circling back for seconds. Even though I was there for a private event, I really liked the vibe of the place. It feels like somewhere you could easily pop in with friends, grab a drink, and hang out without it feeling stuffy or rushed. I only had wine, so I haven't tried their cocktails yet, but that's definitely next on my list. If the food is any indication, I'm sure the drinks won't disappoint. This is a great spot for events, but also seems like a solid go-to for a laid-back night out. I'll definitely be back!

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV
