Chorizo, Mac n' cheese eggroll ($13)
Belle A.

At the end of the work, great place to unwind and enjoy dinner! It was such a beautiful evening, we sat on the patio. The cool breeze was a welcome respite from the sun beating down earlier! Service was fast and friendly! Our waitress took our drink orders as she sat us at our table. Drinks came quickly and she then took our orders for dinner. Some of our friends ordered the Philly cheesesteak, the steak Oscar, the Surf and Turf bowl, and I ordered the Under the Sea platter! I loved the lobster, salmon crab cake, scallops, asparagus, but wasn't too keen on the risotto because of the temperature (cold) and the texture. We had such a wonderful experience chatting with friends over delicious dinner!!! Highly recommend this place for the ambiance, fare, and service!! This place is outstanding!!!

Left this review hanging out in my drafts folder for the longest! But on our visit, service was great, but the tables are quite close and it's pretty loud - so deep convos likely not happening here. Would return to try more!

Consistent experience! Stopped in for lunch with a few co-workers and we had a wide spread of entrees. Everything came out at the same time and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service Was on point. The pizza was good. Will keep them in the rotation.

Always some of the best food in the area. I don't think we've ever had a bad dish. A few of my favorites are the Hangover Burger, the Power Bowls, and any pizza. My kids really enjoy the pizza, and we typically get a mega pretzel as an appetizer. Really good drink selection too--they usually have 20-30 rotating taps for beer and a full menu of cocktails and wine. Service is almost always attentive and friendly. This place can get super crowded around dinner time, but that's usually a good sign for the best restaurants.

This place is awesome and dog friendly!!! Yayy My boo took me and my little dog to the beach to get away and relax. I decided to Google and find dog friendly restaurants in VA Beach and I found this place. Pros They absolutely love dogs here and loved my dog especially. Dog water bowls are provided Food was awesome - no complaints. Pics attached. We ordered pulled pork nachos, iceberg lettuce wedge, and we had a smores brownie dessert Waitresses were great, down to earth, friendly and gave my dog plenty of attention. He loved them all l LOL. Cons NONE! Yayy

Fried pickles

This place was really good! The fried pickles were honestly the best fried pickles I've had (and I ALWAYS get fried pickles everywhere!), and the pizza was amazing! We tried the Godfather & The Rustic pizza (did a half half pizza) and both were really good. We also had the bonfire burger but it was a little bland for my liking, but still good! And the staff was so nice, it's a super cute restaurant.

I was here on a Sunday night around 5:30 with a group of 6. First time. Unfortunately the AC was not completely working so it was HOT!!! But that is not the norm. It wasn't too busy when we got there but it was packed when we left. And loud. Tables are close together. The menu had lots of options. 2 of us decided to split a margherita pizza and the fried goat cheese salad. Lots of other options and something for everyone. They had for an appetizer a Mega Pretzel Charcuterie and the table next to us got it and it looked amazing!!!!! Could easily feed 4 for an appetizer. Our waitress was wonderful. Huge shoutout for separating the check the way she did. Truly above and beyond. Her name was Daina. Food came out quickly except our salad because the first time they burnt the balls. We got a good laugh. The pizza was a thin crust and very good. And the salad was perfect. The fried goat cheese balls were delicious. They could make those an appetizer just themselves. We also ordered some hummus but they had just run out so we only got 1/2 order of hummus so she was kind of enough to not charge us. They have dessert but I don't see it on the menu online. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. It's clearly a popular place. I wouldn't bring my mother - she's 92 and would not like the noise level. Keep that in mind when you go. It is loud. They also have outdoor dining. I would go back.

All the food was very flavorful and fresh. We had a great experience, with great service! Thanks for a great dining experience!

Found this place randomly on Apple Maps. And we didn't want fast food. Something decently priced. Oh my oh my did my tastebuds explode of pure goodness. I third wheeled my girl friend & her boyfriend. Boy did we CRUSH our plates. It was a bit busy so the waitresses were scrambling but they did attend to us as much as they could. Soft lighting in there , loved it tbh, people couldn't see me crushing my food. Jk. There was no hiding that, I was def SEEN. #WillComeBack #ComeHereInsteadOfTheBeach #EatEatEat #GoodFoodOnly

Delicious cocktails / espresso martinis

We had a wonderful dinner here with a lovely ambiance. The menu offered an impressive range of choices. Each dish we tried was excellent, beautifully presented, and generously portioned without being overwhelming. The beverage selection was equally outstanding. The beer list featured a well-curated mix of familiar favorites and unique selections, and the cocktails served throughout the evening were beautifully crafted. Whether you're looking for something classic or something a bit more adventurous, there was plenty to choose from. Service was excellent as well: attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed throughout the evening. As soon as a dish was finished, she would be there to clear it, and drinks were replenished and refills offered with perfect timing. My only (very small) complaint would be the lighting. The wall sconces were positioned in a way that left bright spots in my eyes, making it a bit difficult to comfortably look across the table at my companion. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, and we will definitely be back.

You know it's a good spot when it's packed and busy. We finally checked out New River and I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious, the portions were BIG (definitely worth it ), and the staff was super friendly. Love the ambiance.

Firstly the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside, the decor is very rustic but not distasteful in the slightest. The food is reasonably priced, and they are more than happy to let you try the craft beers before ordering one. They have a large array of whiskey's and wines. The pulled pork burger that we ordered tasted great but the burger patty itself needed to be better seasoned. The pizza was the perfect amount of sauce and cheese on a thin crust pizza with great flavor. The waitress we had was very kind and helpful with picking what we wanted to drink. She seemed knowledgeable and she made sure we never ran out of water or drinks. We will definitely be coming back.

We were turned on to Rustic Spoon a couple years ago when visiting family in Norfolk. Now, it's a must STOP whenever visiting the area. On our last visit, I realized I've checked in and posted pics but never reviewed. Needless to say, I've been gate keeping this little gem as long as I could. Sadly it's been a known spot for locals for years. Whenever we visit, the food and service has been spot on. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Just yesterday, Isabel was our server. As with previous visits, we were taken care of with personable and friendly service. She was a good sport about some minor issues we kind of made jokes about and went along with them... Food wise, they have a regular menu with some great options as well as some specials they change and rotate seasonally. I've enjoyed the Soft Shell Crab Benedict, Fried Shrimp Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, Short Rib Hash among the various brunch items. I've seen and wanted to try their dinner options but sadly have only visited during brunch hours. They have a main dining area and bar area, patio dining and an upstairs area for dining. All are comfortable and service from the kitchen is prompt. Definitely a worthwhile stop when in the area. Keep on Yelp'n!

We like Rustic Spoon quite a bit and look forward to a return visit!

Everybody that was in there when we got there seems to know each other and we're all very friendly. As for the place: it's a little hole in the wall. That has several pool tables and I think five or six digital dartboards. Apparently a couple nights a week they have various special things going on. The night we went they were having a trivia contest about to begin. We didn't stay for that, but clearly there are locals that come here each week for this. As for the food: there were four of us this evening and each try something a little different. As for my wife and I, we had bacon cheeseburgers and she added an egg to hers. They were both very good. We really enjoyed them. They had a lot of flavor and were perfectly cooked. My one sister-in-law had a burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. She also liked it a lot. My other sister-in-law had the chicken quesadilla. She said it was OK. Not exactly sure what that meant by that. We also did buy some nachos for the table and I will say that they weren't the best. They looked good, but by the time they got to the table, they were already room temperature and they just didn't have a lot of flavor overall. But overall - we were happy. As for staff: all were very friendly. But I think they were almost too busy to serve us at our tables. Ortiz didn't get refilled, and it took us asking for our check to actually get it. Again, they were all very friendly, but I just think they were running around too much to properly serve the room. So overall, this little hole in the wall gave us some decent food. Again, some friendly staff, but clearly a little local joint for the neighborhood. But if I was in the area and wanted a good burger, pretty sure I would still stop in.

I ordered the Black and Blue burger with sweet potatoes waffle fried, and my son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. I got my burger with a little pink, and it was cooked to perfection! Sometimes I am hesitant to get pink because it's been to raw. The burger was not only cooked to perfection, I really loved the bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. The waffle fries with the cinnamon/brown sugar sauce were great as well. My son also really enjoyed his burger, but he did say his fries tasted like shrimp. I tasted them, and they didn't taste like shrimp but they did have a distinct taste. I can't really describe it, but I didn't like it. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.
