Red Bones Raw Bar & Seafood Grille has me scratching my head for a number of reasons. To start, for a raw bar, all I saw on the menu were oysters, dozen for $21, 1/2 dozen for $11. Most of the other seafood items were fried or grilled. And when I say most, I mean all. On the Friday night when I came, they had live music in the main bar where I dined. There is also a smoking bar which has pool tables and a juke box. The place main bar was packed. There is also an outside area. I would consider this a dive bar, but for a dive bar the food is approaching gourmet. On this occasion I had a dozen oysters. The oysters were fresh, but only half were shucked. The cocktail sauce that came with it was partially frozen and tasted a little old, and the horse radish had no flavor. Also had the fish dip, which was quite amazing. It was a cheesy seafood party in my mouth. Was also observing the food which was coming out for the other patrons and it all looked scrumptious. I have to come back with more of an appetite. So here is why the five stars. The service was super awesome and the place was slammed. The drinks were so reasonable, Titos drink for $6.50, well vodka drink for $4, and they have craft beer on draft. So here you have a dive bar with reasonably priced drinks and good food. Red Bones has a great staff and a welcoming environment. Thus place is definitely worth a visit if you are in Chesapeake.

FIRST TIME HERE! Was told by my Sister that they had the best food and specifically the best Wings. Her favorite in Hampton Roads! Greeted as soon as I sat down at the bar by the bartender - she was quick! Got a cold beer and ordered wings (of course had to see what the sister hype was about :)). Ordered one of the specials - English Dip (prime rib sandwich w/ au jus) and I picked rice and beans as a side. For the wing sauce I wanted something spicy but not burn your face off... she recommended "Da Bone" and she was spot on. Beware! The Wing Appetizer is a meal!! 10 wings and fresh crispy and cold celery! She warned me I'd be taken some food home.... The wings were super fresh, not breaded with a good amount of sauce, and were nice and hot, fresh out of the fryer. The bartender told me they'd be about 17 minutes because they make them fresh and she was spot on. The English Dip special was really good. The prime rib was cooked perfectly medium rare, so if you want something different, just ask. The au jus for dipping had a great beef taste with onions. Very good. The side of rice and beans was delicious. Had a little shredded cheese on top with a small dollop of sour cream. It also was a nice hot temperature. Beans were moist and juicy as well as the rice. Overall great experience! This is definitely a hopping locals spot, but as the bartender told me they love new people! This year will be their 20th year in business there! They also are just finishing up a nice looking red roof. There are 3 different areas that she explained to me: 1. The billiard, darts, game room w/ gambling machines. They also do poker on Monday nights. 2. The bar, table and booth area 3. Outdoor patio. She said the tent will go up 1st week in March. If you haven't stopped in, you have to check it out! I'll be back with the family!

Staff is always attentive; never waiting on a beer to be refilled lol. Ordered the chicken skins...oh em gee! Highly recommend it. Unless you're on a diet hahaha. The crab soup was delicious! Perfect for a 30 degree weather! Warmed me right up! Plenty of parking. Bathrooms available. They have a designated motorcycle parking area. They also have an outdoor tent area as well. Sit at the bar or grab a table. Perfect for group settings as well. Awesome hole in the wall kind of bar!

My wife and I met some friends Saturday for the shrimp special $10.95 (either fried or steamed). They were delicious, cooked just right. Our server was awesome! He was always checking in us as our beers were getting low. This is a Chesapeake landmark and for some reason we had never been to. We will definitely be back !!!

Don't be fooled by the motorcycles outside or the loud music, the food at the Red Bones is ridiculously good! We tried the fried chicken wrap, OMG, I have to come back for the same wrap again, so so so good! My partner had friend shrimp, those were also good, fresh and really big. The fries were something special... excellent! The patio is really big and there is enough space from each table, good for COVID-19 and for practicing social distancing. Some waitress used masks, some don't (but I guess you can ask your to wear the mask for safety). Service was excellent nonetheless. Very kind people. We also liked the touchless payment option. The cherry on top was nice live music on Sunday night. We loved it!

Lots of great food but the chicken bacon ranch wrap is my favorite, the broccoli is really good and the blackened tuna bites are out of this world!

Sorry, I already eat half before I took the picture... so delicious!!! Blackened tuna bites were out of this world

I feel like I need to apologize to red bones for assuming that since they were a biker bar that they cared more about a party than they cared about food. Well I just ordered delivery for the first time and I've had to eat my words. Their food is absolutely amazing, especially their seafood! I was blown away by the freshness, quality, and prices. Just goes to show never judge a book by its cover, because it's better seafood than I've had at fancy restaurants hands down! As soon as this pandemic is over, we're coming to dine in as well!!!

As for the Fire Island, it's perfect for you if you like a kick. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Everything worked well on the sandwich, it can just be a much for breakfast sometimes. The $10 Bypass Salad was underwhelming--mostly shredded lettuce with very little else, and definitely not worth the price. The wings seemed baked instead of fried and were overly drenched in sauce, which took away from the flavor and texture. My burger was decent and probably the highlight of the meal, but the fries fell short and didn't complement it well. Service also seemed a bit off. We shared our disappointment with our waitress, but there wasn't really any acknowledgment or response, which added to the overall experience. Based on this visit, it's hard to justify a return

The patties were noticeably small, and mine was cooked well beyond well-done--dry and crispy. The fries, however, were actually very good, and the service that day was friendly and attentive. Hoping it was just an off day, we came back a second time--but the experience didn't improve. The service felt unfriendly this time around, which immediately changed the atmosphere. We ordered the nachos, and they were overcooked and looked like they were thrown together without much care--definitely not what you'd expect when dining out. We also tried the Easter Egg flight, which was $27. For that price, we expected something a bit more impressive, but the drinks were about the size of shots, had no garnish, and overall just didn't feel worth it. One of them even had a taste similar to cough medicine. We had originally planned to stay for lunch during our second visit, but after what we experienced, we decided we had enough and left. There's definitely potential here, but based on our visits, consistency, food quality, and overall value need improvement.

Consistency--both in the kitchen and in the dining room--has made this longtime favorite a reliable choice for those who value substance over flash. The service reflects that same steadiness. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing--always ready with thoughtful suggestions for anyone navigating the menu. I began with the garden salad, a straightforward but well-executed mix of fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet Vidalia onions, finished with housemade croutons and a balanced balsamic vinaigrette. It's a simple dish done right, which sets the tone for what follows. The she-crab soup--an award-winning staple--delivers exactly what you hope for in a classic rendition. Rich, velvety, and deeply satisfying, it's best enjoyed in a cup unless you plan on making it the centerpiece of your meal. For the entrée, the French Dip stands out as a clear highlight. Built on a soft roll and filled with thinly sliced prime rib--slow-roasted to achieve both tenderness and depth of flavor--it's served with a properly seasoned au jus that brings the entire sandwich together. It's a dish that leans on quality ingredients and careful execution rather than unnecessary embellishment, and it succeeds because of it. Court House Café continues to earn its reputation the right way: consistent food, thoughtful service, and an atmosphere that feels rooted in the community it serves.
