We love Bay Local, it's one of our go to spots. We went to the one on Shore and it was closed so we came over to the one on Laskin. We were extremely disappointed with our service. We were a party of 6 with estimated wait time 45min. You receive a link when you check in with your location on the wait list and party sizes. A party of 7 was sat before us because they didn't think we would want to sit at a high top with my infant. They did not ask our preference. Then they split tables that had been pushed together for a previous party of 6 and began sitting parties of 2 that had been waiting ~20min while we were over 80min of waiting per the link sent to us. Then, an incomplete party of 6 was sat at one of the large booths. We expressed concern to the hostess and were told we were "next on the list". Another hosted arrived and explained that we were not sat in the order we arrived because of the infant and the high top. We expressed we would like to sit at the high top and then we were provided a high chair that fit at the high top table.. First come first serve was not what was practiced here today, and unfortunately I was with an infant so we felt it a little harder than we would have otherwise. Overall it was very disappointing. We typically love the food and the service. We just hope that this doesn't become a trend - would hate to see this place go downhill.. read more

Since it is mainly a seafood restaurant the aesthetic was ocean or bay themed. They had great decorations of coral reef and other things found in the ocean around the restaurant. Since it was our first time at this restaurant we were unsure about what we should order. She gave great suggestions. We ordered the fried oysters, oyster burger, and shrimp with vegetables and eggs. We also ordered a pineapple crush and the localizer. The food was very flavorful and fresh. The oyster burger was very unique it had a fried oyster on top of the patty which was great. I was starved after an early flight and Bay Local was close to my hotel and more importantly a fabulous find. The menu has a lot to offer but what caught my eye was the One Love plate. It comes with three eggs any style, arugula salad, half grilled avocado, choice of bacon, sausage, or turkey bacon, home fries or Parmesan tots. You have a choice of tortillas or toast, and as my lovely server (I believe her name was Sara) suggested the tortillas. I do believe after my experience with this breakfast that the tortillas are the ONLY option because you can make your own breakfast tacos and they are delicious!! I also got a side of cheese grits because I love grits and can never turn down the opportunity to eat them. Beautiful location with a covered patio section right on the water. Lots of boaters going by. We started with calamari which were the rings and they were huge. The breading was nice. They do a nice job frying here. It was served with several sauces. I had the soft shell crab dinner with cole slaw and fries. The slaw was finely shredded except at the top which was a little coarser. The slaw dressing was poured over the whole thing. Very tasty and unique. My son in law asked for a medium rare burger which came out WELL DONE! He didn't say anything and didn't finish it. The server should have said something. The Hangover dish was a classic American style breakfast platter with toast, pancakes, steak, etc. The items apart from the steak were standard. Nothing special. The steak was cooked decently but very salty for some reason. The Light Tower Omelette was cooked well - shrimp was cooked and not chewy, small amount of crab, but the dish itself tasted bland. It seemed like it could use the salt from the steak. Some parts had cheese which helped to bring flavor but the cheese was sparse. The Chicken & waffles were the best item but still not extremely good or the best I had. Breading had a good amount of seasoning & black pepper and you could taste it. Chicken was cooked well, and the crust is slightly crunchy. Waffles themselves were light but crunchy. Hash was great with the mixed peppers and onions - good amount of flavor and good texture from the potato. Crab cake balls were nice and slightly on the salty side but that's because of the taste of Old Bay. It was good but I don't think it was worth the price. I've had better up in Maryland. Service was very quick and the atmosphere is very inviting. A lot of shiny and decorative fixtures that make this a great brunch spot. Outdoor seating was very inviting as well with the sunlight and abundance of greenery. I visited recently on a snow day and had an amazing experience. Their menu offers a variety of local favorites and the food quality is worth the trip. The menu was a little over whelming at first but I loved the decor and vibe, reminded me of a NOLA cafe. I got the big country sandwich and basically asked for the biscuit on the side so I could dip that in the gravy and added arugula and peppers to my eggs along with a side of chipotle aioli. Little bit of both worlds. The fried chicken was fabulous and probably the star of the meal, the breading was seasoned well and flaky. I'd go back for that alone. The chipotle aioli wasn't overly spicy, but it had a fine flavor. Mimosa was balanced... the "crushes" were ok. We ordered: breakfast burrito that was so huge my son wasn't sure how to eat it. Eggs benedict - and lets just say there were at least 10 options. It was terrific. And large enough that we shared it. The mango sorbet mimosa sounded great, but to be honest, I wish it had twice the sorbet and less champagne. It needed a bigger mango punch. We were highly amused by another family attempting to drink a giant margarita that required them to stand up to reach the straw. We recommend it highly, just not for intimate conversation. I've been going to Bay Local Eatery for years and I'm just now getting around to writing a yelp review. This review is hard for me because I want to love it but it's not quite there for me. The food is good but it's not great. Everything here is a solid 'B' which is above average. The setting is nice and the staff are awesome. Bay Local almost always has a wait. People are lined up to eat here. I wonder why that is. Probably because this place has 4.5 stars on yelp despite not being claimed on Yelp. Go figure. By far my favorite brunch spot. I've tried so many others local and far but no one has the special dishes like Bay Local offers. Most places have basic items. Every time I have guests in town they request to go to a local at least once. However, we usually find ourselves back there multiple times. The food is always hot and delicious and the service is excellent. I recommend the Bay local Benny and the one love. But my son loves the chicken and waffles. Their drinks are just as fabulous. I made a call in order for takeout and got a side order French toast $7, candied pecan French toast bites $14.99, and fried Chicken Bennie $14.99. The service was very good and pick up was easy. Also when it comes to takeout they add a .40 takeout charge for each item you order. - French toast * This was decent but I didn't really taste any of the "rum" flavor. Also I didn't know that it was the same French toast as the candied pecan French toast bites cause if so I wouldn't have gotten both but oh well. - Candied pecan French toast bites * This is their signature French toast chopped into bite sized pieces layered with pecans, strawberries, and icing with a side of bacon. * This was really good and definitely my favorite item that I had. It kind of reminded me of cinnamon roll French toast bites. - Fried chicken Bennie * I got the eggs Bennie (eggs Benedict) on French bread with garlic Parmesan tots on the side. This was my first time getting an eggs Bennie and it was pretty good but the tots were just alright. All in all, my experience at bay local eatery was an amazing and memorable one. I decide to revist this spot on a random weekend. Weekends are pretty busy but it was just two of us so we did not have to wait long. We had the option of choosing if we wanted indoor seating or outdoor, We went with the outdoor seating since it was the first available.
