Brunch for our family of 7 on New Year's Eve. Different trip, same quality experience! Sat right away despite a busy crowd. Friendly service from Sarah throughout; had food in 15 minutes. All very good: Crabcake benny w English muffin and home fries, blueberry pancakes, blueberry waffles, the Lesner, chicken n waffles, kitchen sink w peppers/onions, and the Big Al.

Soft shell crab specials today (not always available, so... I had with BLT, wife had plain. As always, food is great, service is prompt and waitresses are friendly and helpful. Always a busy place, but usually you can get seated quickly. Brunches and lunches are always great. Newer addition provides additional space which can be needed on weekends!

Love this restaurant SO MUCH! I've never gone here and NOT left satisfied and with the itis lol! This is my favorite location, and I have always had great service here. I love the nautical theme, it's so VA Beach. Though it's hard to get seating and the waiting times can be long, it's worth it the wait. It is difficult to find parking and sometimes requires a bit of a walk from some streets over. I've had many things on their menu, but my favorite is their shrimp and grits!

This is the neatest restaurant I have eaten at in a long while. The decorations make you feel like you're at a cool beach house. The food is top notch and reasonably priced for seafood. I got a shrimp and crab (lots of both) omelette for $19. I had a spill of my drink and the staff was super helpful and apologetic. It was a great experience even with the drink mishap. I will be returning.

The food was well seasoned; it was delicious. I had the crab cake eggs benedict; there was so much flavor! Omg! The service was great; would definitely go back there again to try some of the other items that they had on the menu. The other food item names / descriptions on the menu sounded intriguing and appetizing. Also had the jalapeño margarita and the Baymosa, both were very good with tropical flavors. The atmosphere was very nice. Definitely can take the family. Highly recommend.

We rolled up on a Saturday, took one look at the parking situation, and almost bailed. I was sure the were going to be a huge wait, the cars were everywhere. It was Mad Max: Fury Road out there. But in a plot twist, I ducked inside to check the wait and, surprise, there wasn't one. Just a parking lot that operates on pure anarchy. But inside was not crazy busy at around 10am. The place itself is cute, the design has beach elements, it's bright, nice specials board and a bar. It did get much busier as we had our meal so arrive early. The menu? Huge. They even have early bird specials, which is great if you have your life together enough to brunch at a responsible hour. My only wish? A classic, no-frills eggs-toast-meat option for those of us who sometimes just want the breakfast greatest hits. Food-wise, it was a home run. Generous portions, solid flavors. The breakfast cocktails? Equally robust. I went for a sorbet mimosa, which is a risky game as some places go full dessert mode and forget the champagne. Not here. The ratio? Chef's kiss. My brunch company had a burrito (solid) and we even sampled a kid's meal (also solid). One hiccup: As the place filled up, service slowed, and my brunch companion tragically never got a refill. This is how brunch heartbreak happens, people. No refill = unfinished meal = existential crisis. But all in all? A worthy brunch adventure. Just maybe take an Uber and let someone else battle the parking gauntlet.

We were seated quickly though the place was nearly full. They had a Specials for the day, so hubby decided to order the Tile fish but sadly we heard "86 the Tile" just after we placed our orders. He had to make a fast decision so he got the Soft shell crab fish BLT with tater tots. I got the soft shell crab sandwich with the tots. I also got a cup of tea, choosing Tazo Passion out of the variety box. It was cold inside so the hot tea helped. This location has expanded, apparently recently enough, complete with a bar, so that they are now able to shorten the waiting time. Though during the weekends the current wait time is now 1 hour, 30 minutes due to the popularity of their food. They are famous for soft shell crabs!

Bay Local is a local fave. We went mid week around 11am. Food was amazing, drink specials were on point, and the servers were attentive. This location is slightly smaller compared to others but still great. Parking can be a challenge, but again, so worth it for the great food. I was able to customize my omelette w ease which was awesome, and I was able to take my beverage special to go.

This is the perfect brunch spot! It was a welcoming space, the service was great, the price points were affordable and the portion sizes were generous! Everything we tried was delicious!

Brunch with friends and my first time here. The parking situation is a nightmare. Beware of the police sitting around the corner! I got lucky and found a spot after making a circle around. My friends had to park across the Main Street. Place is pretty busy with locals and while waiting we got drinks and sat in the sofa. They do have a decent amount is waiting spots to sit. I appreciated that at my age. Hahaha. The Bloody Mary's were great. Our "drink"server while waiting was super and friendly. Once we got a table we got a different server and she wasn't as friendly while we placed our order. I was glad our "drink" server ended up coming around to attend to us in the end. The menu had something for everyone but the 4 of us decided on the soft shell crab benny x2 since it was in season and the other 2 decided on the crab cake benny. It was just enough food and drinks to fill me up and want to take a nice little nap.

The food was amazing. The service was off. We felt so rushed. I understand this place is probably always packed but it was a Tuesday afternoon with plenty of open tables there's no reason to rush us. But food was good.

We came in early on a Saturday while in town and they were able to immediately seat us even though we were a group of 8. They were super attentive and the food came out quickly. I had the Salmon Bennie and it was great. I got cheese grits since I'm not often in the South and they were really tasty! My husband had the fried chicken Bennie with home fries. My daughter and nephew split the pancakes with chocolate chips and strawberries. They were huge! (They split one order). Only complaint I heard was the bacon was slightly undercooked. But overall everything was great and would definitely recommend if in the area!

One of the go-to spots for locals! It's in the name for a reason! I've been to both locations and neither disappoint! As far as ambience one offers you a place that feels like the spot to get loose and be loud, and the other feels like the place to have a more quiet date night out. Either way the food is top notch and I've not had a meal that was anything less than well executed. The Shore Drive location has a good amount of seating but usually comes with a wait especially on weekends so plan accordingly. They've done a great job seating me for two and for 20 as walk ups - so they get the job done on the service front as well. In addition to that take a look at the pics if you want to know whether the food is on point I've eaten seafood, burgers, eggs Benedict, breakfast and everything has been fresh and tasted great between two locations- so I think you'll be pleased. Portions are respectable and for a big man like me that's important. Give them a go see for yourself .

At least the servers were wearing masks? We ordered wings and the burger special, and both were amazing...then we got the hell out of dodge. Second visit was about a week or two later, after Gov Northam had mandated the in-house sale of alcohol was to end at 10P and restaurants to close at 12a. We had just returned from the Eastern Shore at about 10:30P, and once again we were starving. Expecting more of the same tomfoolery, we walked into Bucketheads and found a completely different situ...ghost town. Drunk young people crowding into our personal spaces were nowhere to be found. We sat at a bar high top, ordered our hot wings (which were super good yet again), drank our ice waters like the understanding, compliant customers we were (even through we could've used a nice cold one after a day of driving), and went on our happy way. Takeaways: they seem to have gotten their act together in the time of COVID, and damn, their food is good. There is plenty of outdoor seating available if that helps make you more comfortable dining out right now. Highly recommend their hot wings along with the plethora of innovative sauces!

I waited around 10 minutes and walked around looking for anyone and nothing. It was hot as hell out and not happy. Went back to my car with AC and gave a few more minutes. Still nothing and left. The food truck has been operating a few months and I've seen business. The restaurant will be reopening next month after a fire closed them down more than a year ago. It's taken them much longer than necessary in my opinion to come back after hiring gypsy labor. They have had reported issues for months with city permits. On a side note a gypsy workers truck caught fire in the parking lot yesterday. Hopefully I can update after the reopening, but I'm not rushing.

It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

We know Uber Eats customer service sucks and it was no different here. I decided to call the Rustic Spoon and the manager identified the issue immediately. There was a Joshua P who ordered almost the same thing as me Joshua F minus the pancakes. Most places turn you away and tell you to deal with Uber but as a reviewer I also love to review customer service. The manager took ownership of the issue and let me know I could pick up the pancakes. When I get there, he was waiting at the front door for me, had my food hot and ready, and added something a little extra for the mistake. My wife loves this place and I understand why. I trained bank associates on customer service and soft skills and if I could've recorded this interaction, it would've been the best training one could offer. We often overlooked how important excellent service is and how it influences customers. This situation turned me into a supporter of this business going forward. Btw my food was awesome and the Apple Pie pancakes were worth it.

For drinks, I kept it simple with a tequila sunset and substituted pineapple juice for orange juice a good drink! Now for the meals. I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. I hate to even say this because I had such high hopes, but the lamb chops lacked seasoning for me. I ordered them medium, but they were definitely more medium rare. I love a medium rare ribeye, but not so much with lamb chops. The mashed potatoes and green beans were decent, but overall needed a little more flavor. My husband had the Butcher's Burger with wedges. He said it was a solid burger, slightly overcooked, but still good overall. He did enjoy the different flavor the pork belly added. In the summer I tend to gravitate toward lighter, sweeter wines, so the flight felt like the perfect choice for the day. Not surprisingly, my taste buds traveled straight to Italy. The Italian wines on the flight ended up being my favorites, with the standout being La Doria Moscato D'Asti. It was light, slightly bubbly, and perfectly balanced -- sweet but still refreshing. If you enjoy Moscato-style wines, this one was definitely the highlight of the tasting for me. The winery itself has a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a glass (or a flight). They also offer a selection of light bites if you want something to snack on while you're tasting. I ordered the house biscuits with jam and butter, which are made in-house, along with an order of fries. Both worked well as simple bites alongside the wine. If I had been with a group, I probably would have ordered the charcuterie board -- the one at the table next to me looked very generous and easily shareable. Service was friendly and welcoming, and since it wasn't overly crowded when I visited, it made for a relaxed afternoon tasting experience. I booked a Valentine's Day reservation four weeks ago. Three days before the date, I received a text notifying me of a special Valentine's Day menu. I reviewed it and found it consists mostly of seafood or red meat items, with very few options other options. This information was not disclosed at the time of booking or in the weeks following. Had I been informed upfront that only this limited menu would be offered, I would not have made the reservation. I consider this very poor customer service.
