We loved it! It's easy to miss since it's connected to a laundry. The menu has both lunch and breakfast. I got the chicken tender sandwich. It was excellent. My husband loved the cheeseburger. I recommend getting the homemade fries. They cut the potato eland fry them up to order. Staff was friendly. Dining area is simple but clean. Will eat here again.

Here's the breakdown of today's line up: Bob's Biscuit and Gravy: First of all, the portions? Massive. The biscuit is incredibly fluffy, and that savory, rich gravy is pure comfort food heaven. It's a classic done flawlessly. Chicken and Waffles: The perfect sweet and savory synergy. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired with those golden waffles? Unmatched. Traditional Eggs Benedict: A textbook masterpiece. Perfect poached eggs with that gorgeous yolk pop, sitting on a toasted English muffin with a silky, rich hollandaise. 10/10 across the board. The vibes were immaculate, the food is incredible, and the service is always on point. Which one are you diving into first? Let me know!

She offered me some really nice suggestions, offered prompt service, and kept my coffee hot! I tried their breakfast chimichanga which is a very interesting and unique breakfast entrée. And since they offered sausage gravy, I ordered a side biscuit with a small side of sausage gravy, as I enjoy trying this when it's on a menu. The food came out rather quickly and looked amazing! The sausage gravy was very nice, the biscuit was great. The chimichanga was excellent and HUGE!! I liked the crema on top of it, but I really liked their selection of hot sauces, with their house-made "gator sauce" being my favorite. I definitely enjoyed this visit and would definitely return!

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

We both got smoothies and they were large and tasted very very fresh with lots of fresh ingredients (not the watery ones you know only had some concentrate). Order at the counter and find your own seat-type place. Seating was mostly full but we lucked out with one available table that they had to bus and wipe down for us. The patio is really cute when the weather is warm. I liked the menu and could see this being a cute place to come with friends for lunch or bring out of town folks if they want to try a new brunch or lunch spot.

My sister in law is a huge fan of old school hip hop and she was singing and having so much fun reading the menu. What I love is that they have vegan options and regular options. My brother's family is vegan and it can be challenging for him to find places he can order food for his family. I don't mind eating vegan, but it's nice when places can do both. You may not believe me but this vegan friendly spot has THE best bacon I've ever had... so don't sleep on them!! The guy who was there when we picked up the food was very gracious and accommodating, I am not sure if he was the owner but he seemed genuinely appreciative of our business and it's nice to feel that as a customer. I got the breakfast burrito - it was very good, full of root veg and eggs, I would have liked a little more sauce or salsa for some flavor dimension but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The salad that came with my breakfast burrito was very tasty and I added it to the burrito for some acid from the vinaigrette. I appreciated the side salad option because it can be so hard to get your veggies in while traveling. My husband and the kids got waffles, the waffle portion was great for the kiddos but left my husband wanting more. I also got The Warren G smoothie which was yummy.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV
