Fried Green Tomatoes
Ali S.

Such a cute little diner, with great food and surprisingly a full bar. Seat yourself service, but still very friendly and attentive staff! The fried green tomatoes are a MUST try! We will be back to try the lunch specials, but we stuck with breakfast today. Love having such a cute diner nearby in the bustling Ghent area. The coffee was delicious and the refills were plenty. I didn't care much for the hashbrowns, however my husband did. The dining area is small but they offered seating on their heated patio. We opted inside for the charm!

A great diner spot located in the Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk. There is great outside seating on their front patio with nice shade options. On this occasion, we dined outside. Our server was prompt and attentive. We never had to wait for anything. My BLT was very good and came with avocado which was a nice addition. You have the option of adding an egg which I declined. My Dad had a burger which he enjoyed. We both especially liked the French fries which are skinny and long. Yum! The breakfast menu is extensive so we will need to return. The only challenge I find with coming here more often is finding a parking spot close enough for bringing someone with mobility issues.

Stopped in for lunch. Cozy spot with a long counter and a few high top tables spread around. Service was quick and attentive. Had the club sandwich. Everything was great. Would definitely come back.

Came for lunch with a friend. Weather was great so we sat outside. Our sever was super friendly and attentive. I got the turkey bacon melt with onion rings & added an egg to the sandwich. My friend got cheese eggs and pancakes. The food came out quickly and was cooked well. My sandwich was super yummy and bigger than I expected. The onion rings were great, seasoned well and fresh. I got an order of fried green tomatoes to go for my husband, which he enjoyed. Definitely a great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Just about every other weekend, me and my friend wake up early to come here to eat breakfast. I always get the crabcake egg Benedict. It's an amazing place to eat for starting your day! We normally just sit at the bar, mainly since the staff is so personable. If you're looking for an old-school diner field with a very positive environment, I suggest coming here.

Five stars alone off of the staffs attitude. I walked in right be for closing unbeknownst to me (a few places online have conflicting hours of operation, they close at 2 not 3) and they were very kind about it and took my order anyway(I ended up packing it to go out of respect despite the fact they insisted I stayed and enjoyed myself). Once I realized they were closing I apologized and the two ladies were very lovely about it. The prices are pretty good and they have a nice sized menu that's broken up by meal type. I like that with a few items you can do half orders which is great for trying something new. The diner is really cute and kind of has a retro vibe, it is seat yourself and they have a big classic diner countertop. The food look amazing, it looked exactly like what's pictured on the menu. The staff were so hospitable and gracious. I will definitely be back here !

Breakfast at Little Dog Diner is always a treat, thanks to Lynn! As a regular, I can say she consistently goes above and beyond, greeting us with a warm smile and making sure everything is perfect. She's fast, friendly, and always keeps the mimosas flowing. Whether she's serving or bartending, her energy and attention to detail make every visit special. If you stop by, sit in her section--you won't be disappointed!

Customer service was amazing. We were able to sit on the patio. My corned beef was alittle dry and salty but the poached eggs were good. My coffee cup was never empty which was great because I need my caffeine in the morning. The place was very busy.

Yum! My husband loves a good breakfast spot and this small diner looked like a sleeper hit from the outside. It was exactly what we hoped. Small inside but a fair amount of seating both at the bar and on the side deck. We didn't have to wait when we arrived at around 9am on a Sunday and easily slid into a vacant table that cleared out just as we walked in. The menu for brunch is pretty large with a lot of options. There are breakfast sandwiches, breakfast platters and scrambles, build your own sandwiches, and a ton of Benedict options (like 6-7) if you like Benedicts. I saw salmon cakes and chicken and waffles as well. I love a solid spot with things to please all eaters. Our waitress was prompt and efficient, friendly and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She easily recommended and made suggestions when asked (like the chocolate chip addition to the pancake platter). My stepson ordered the corned beef hash and it was a great sized portion and looked delicious. He liked it. My husband made his own breakfast sandwich with choices of bread, cheese, eggs, and meat. I ordered the most bc I had just finished a 10k and went with the pancake platter with two large pancakes (add chocolate chips for $1), two eggs cooked to order, a meat, and a side. I chose sausage patties and applesauce and ended up with two huge full-sized sausage patties. It's a ton of food bc the pancakes are gigantic. All for about $12. These pancakes, oh my god. Let me tell you. Delicious. Served with their house-made bourbon pancake syrup and butter and loaded on top with warm chocolate chips but also all throughout the pancakes - delish! Highly recommend. If you are looking for a solid breakfast spot to try out - this is the one. Run, don't walk!

This local favorite has maintained a loyal following since opening its doors in 1987, and after one visit it's easy to understand why. Having grown up in Norfolk, I still make the trip over from Chesapeake from time to time because some places are simply worth returning to. Our favorite bartender Lauren is always friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu suggestions if you're undecided. She also happens to make a fantastic drink, which certainly never hurts. My wife ordered the Sesame Shrimp Salad consisting of fried butterflied shrimp, organic mixed greens, fresh vegetables, mandarin oranges, crispy wontons, and their house Red Dragon dressing. The presentation alone was impressive, but the flavor balance is what truly stood out. In fact, she enjoyed it so much that I never even managed to get a taste myself, which is saying something. I decided on the Shrimp Platter and the portion size alone was enough to get my attention. The shrimp were fried to a perfect golden brown, served piping hot, and properly seasoned throughout. The crinkle-cut fries delivered that ideal contrast of crispy exterior and soft potato center, while the coleslaw brought a refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity that tied the entire plate together beautifully. No Frill continues to prove that you do not need unnecessary gimmicks when the food, service, and consistency speak for themselves. If you enjoy well-prepared comfort food served by people who genuinely care about the experience, this Norfolk institution remains well worth the visit.

Amazingly awesome service that outlined menu and answered a barrage of questions I had about the menu. Provided great recommendations to feed my late night appetite! What is also great you may ask? Had some crispy rolls, kimchi fried rice with mojo pork and an Asian slaw dog. Mmm mmm mmm all around! Portions are decent so bring your appetite! Truly enjoyed the kimchi fried rice, the dog had a lot of bun and slaw yet still hit the spot. Great vice within this place with some music in the background, not overpowering to have casual convos either at the bar or your table. Great for single dinner plan, date night or a group of friends. When arrived looks pretty much like former restaurant less decorations. Two groups seated about eleven persons. Bar was empty. Slowly filled two more tables and three or four at the bar. About 20 persons in total. Most of the visit, only single waitress serving tables and bar as long with busing tables. Kitchen is semi open. Only one person could be send in kitchen. Two persons only seemed understaffed for near full menu service and bar. No bus person, kitchen help, runner, or dish washer seen. Menu Asian fusion for lack of better term. Ordered scallion pancakes and spicy spring rolls. Service slow.... After ordering. Pancakes are one of my favorite snacks. Order portion size was large for appetizer. Scallion pancakes should be chewy with a flakey crust, savory with an onion punch from the scallions. These were chewy with no flakiness at all. Sort of like a flour tortilla with onion in the mix. The dip was like extra salty soy sauce spiked with raw ginger, strong and almost inedible. Then about five minutes later spring rolls arrived. Piping hot then down hill. First impression,, over cooked and greasy. Did not appear to have been drained. two small puddles of oil in dish below rolls. Sort of cross between lumpia and cha gio with appeal of neither. Noodles and meat wrapped together and fried. Favors muddled and greasy. Dipping sauce not much either. As a person who has sat through many food handlers permit classes. I witnessed a no-no with the waitress. Concerning.... It appears that disjointed service front to back needs improvement. Like location and ideas but without consistent execution it will likely fail in long run. Will be back?? Not likely Never say never. If still open this time next year?? Plus next block up there is very good ramen/Filipino/Vet place.

I enjoyed the Fried Chicken sandwich which also comes with boardwalk fries which are sinfully good. The chicken sandwich is a favorite with just the right amount of pickles, Surry ham, and arugula. The aioli is a nice and tasty addition to the sandwich. The Lobster Roll was also ordered at our table. It was enjoyed by the guest although it seemed like quite a small meal presentation especially for the price of $28.50. It was served on a small plate and just didn't look like a $30 dinner. We also ordered the Halloumi Fries which were underwhelming in size and taste. We love Halloumi so this was a bit of a disappointment. Our server was fantastic. She knew the specials and the happy hour deals etc for the night which I believe for us was 20% off of our glass of wine. She was friendly and prompt with everything. The bartender didn't ask me what my other choice of meat was and when inquired he said "I just put you in for two orders of sausage". I thought was odd because I would have preferred the two selections. I did ask if one order of meat could be substituted for fruit, but he said that was more a side with the meal. Another thing that was odd is that I asked for the eggs to be scrambled hard, they were not. I cannot eat soft scrambled eggs, something about the texture just doesn't work for me. Although I will eat an over medium egg, either way that wasn't what I asked for. I will say that the bartender was friendly and that the patron who was sitting next to me was also friendly.
