Unfortunately, my excitement was cut short when I went to order the #6 breakfast special and found out the fried rice was pre-made with ham, and there was no option to get it without meat. Since the fried rice was out, I pivoted and ordered the #1 Special: 2 eggs (requested soft scrambled with cheese) 2 pieces of bacon (asked to hold the bacon) White toast Home fries Side order: Egg rolls to go The execution of breakfast was pretty disappointing. The eggs weren't soft scrambled, the cheese on top wasn't melted, and the home fries were very hard. To top it off, the whole plate came out at room temperature. I didn't make a fuss or send it back because it's a small, family-owned restaurant and they clearly have a lot of loyal regulars who love them. Overall Verdict: Breakfast Food: 5/10 Egg Rolls: 7/10 The service alone makes it worth giving them another shot. Needless to say the food was so good, pics proved to have zero chance. Sooo after a rough week, a Saturday late morning breakfast was calling for a much needed downtime to sit and enjoy... and well here we go: Some say happiness in a bottle, I say Happiness in a glass! Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. Really awesome to see that as the next few tables were a mix of families with and without kids, in laws, aunts and uncles just coming together for amazing food, great and accurate service, and overall fantastic experience ina random Saturday morning!

My wife ordered the Chicken Salad Wrap with a side of onion rings, and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. Hubby opted for a meat sandwich, and yes, it is perfectly named, and I got the western omelet. The omelet was huge and tasty with equal parts onions, peppers, ham and lots of cheese. I was on the fence with French toast and boy am I glad I went with the omelet. There's just something special that griddle cooking adds to an omelet that takes it up a notch, plus, those onion laden hashbrowns were worth mentioning again. Hubby said his meat sandwich had so much meat that he could have skipped a few meals and still have enough meat to last days. The place was very busy. We snagged the last available table and with there being only one chef, we had quite the wait. Breanna made sure we weren't ignored and when our breakfasts arrived, we dug in and devoured. This is a little far from our house but soon as we left the man asked me when were we going back. As a wrap up, diner fare devotion at super reasonable prices (you get alot of food!) with happy, friendly people. Get there early, take a book or someone whose company you enjoy and settle in as you may have a wait that is worth it. Oh, we got all that food for less than $25 (not counting tax and tip). My mom and I were both in the area as she wanted to go to the Michael's store here. When we came inside, it wasn't busy, as it was around 3:30 pm when we got here. We were greeted by the one who would be our server for this visit. He gave us menus to look at and asked us for our drink orders. I generally stick with water with lemon, which I did here. We were there during the time where it was still the lunch menu (though for us, it was more like dinner for us that day). When he came back with the drinks, he asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't just yet. He also asked if we had any questions about the menu and options and gave us more time to mull over the menu. When he came back, we weren't completely ready, but asked a question about the specials of the day. After that, we knew what we would get and placed our food order. My mom ordered the Meatloaf Lunch Special with mashed potatoes and spinach. I went with the Meatball Sub Lunch Special with mashed potatoes, though I don't normally do potatoes that often. After about ten minutes or so, the food came to the table. The food looked really good, and it was hot too. The bread for the Meatball Sub was very soft and easy to eat. The meatballs were huge and made for a worthy meal. The mashed potatoes with gravy was really good and fulfilling too. My mom loved the meatloaf, and their meatloaf doesn't have ketchup on it like some other places do. She loved the meatloaf, spinach, and mashed potatoes too. After we were done, he asked if we wanted any desserts. We both declined as I normally don't do them anymore. Overall, we both had an excellent experience here. The food and service were on point. The food I had that day did spike my blood sugars, but I expected that with bread and mashed potatoes. I don't make a habit of that though. They are a great local business. There are lots of food options to choose from. If you are looking for a place to eat while in this part of Chesapeake, this place is worth coming to.

D'egg is one of the area's simple diners. They're open for breakfast and lunch (7:30a-2:30p daily) and they offer typical American breakfast/brunch items. What set them apart (for me, at least) was that their employees were always kind, nice and helpful. Customer service really goes a long way. When I arrived, it wasn't super busy, but there were enough occupied tables to convince me to sit at the bar. The server who helped me was just as kind, nice and helpful as every employee I've encountered during previous visits, so I was happy to see that aspect hasn't changed. I noticed they changed from Pepsi to Coke products. It was recent, too, because some of the Coke items weren't available that day. Not a big deal, but the switch is worth mentioning for those hardcore Pepsi fans. Btw, this D'egg location looked clean and organized. I took a few minutes to order, and my server offered to answer any questions I had. I ordered an item I haven't eaten in a long time - country fried steak. My entree was out in no time and mine came with scrambled eggs (you can choose how you want your eggs), tots and wheat toast. They gave me a lot of gravy - regardless, I devoured my dish. Soon afterwards, I paid and was out the door. So if you're in a rush, this D'egg location might be the spot. I've always enjoyed my visits to D'egg, and my most recent visit provided more of the same. I feel D'egg is consistently good and I admire the friendly service the provide. Thank you, D'egg! JV

I opted for their Chorizo Bowl. Their coffee was great! I was amazing at how clean the water glass was... it's small things like this that tell me about their attention to detail - very important to notice! The Chorizo Bowl was bland and boring, which is unfortunate. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. It was a bacon overload. But the food was tasty for the most part. Potatoes lacked a little flavor and were a bit dry, also my grits had waaay too much butter on top. One good thing I noticed here was, they do have the option of fresh squeezed juice which was good. They do have a small selection of alcohol available if you want a mimosa or Bloody Mary for breakfast. They have a couple of other alcohol selections as well. If you're starving and looking for a lot of food this might be a great spot for you.

Super cute breakfast spot with great food and awesome customer service…read more We stayed in the Waterside District and this spot was within walking distance of our hotel and had good reviews. Surprisingly there was no wait on a Saturday morning. Our server was kind and attentive. I'm an omelet girl and love when shrimp are a protein option. This was probably the most fluffy omelet I've ever had. I was concerned when I only saw three shrimp on top but rest assured, there were more tucked inside the omelet! The mimosa (ruby red) was also good. We noticed at the end of our meal that our server was speaking with another team mate and looking in our direction. Turns out, another guest had paid for our meal. Yep... the tears flowed because that's never happened before. If the kind stranger is reading this, "Thank you". Your random act of kindness moved us greatly. It was the cherry on top of a great dining experience.
