We love supporting this Chesapeake family restaurant that offers a warm atmosphere! Their friendly staff always checks up on us to make sure we have what we need during the meal. Their menu has the variety we appreciate in a restaurant. We'll definitely be back soon. Sunrise continues to earn our five stars!

This is that one of my favorite lil hole in wall places to have breakfast. I love the Filipino breakfast with tocino and a side of lumpia. The service is fast and very friendly. This is not a huge restaurant but it's gives it so much charm

Great little breakfast spot! Located in an out of the way little strip mall it's easy to find, plenty of parking on a Thursday morning. Servers were attentive, informative and friendly. Coffee was always full and all servers seemed to make sure we had everything we needed. I had a ham & cheese omelette, home fries and wheat toast. Everything was great and the home fries were excellent; crispy on the outside, soft and hot on the inside. My wife had eggs and andouille sausage with home fries and a biscuit/gravy all of which was very good. Love the family atmosphere and would definitely return to explore the menu!!

The atmosphere in this place let's you know this is a great local spot to eat at! First time here, really clean inside and the waitress staff is really nice. The lady recommended the Big Breakfast Combo with rice and it was spot on everything was cooked to perfection. I enjoy trying new places especially when they make you want to come back! I will definitely be back, they do specials throughout the week for lunch as well. One of them was chicken & dumplings which would hit the spot lol.

Very quick service! Food comes out in less than 10 min of ordering. Very simple food menu options. Mainly just staple items. Very affordable. Meals $10-$15 avg. per person. Waitresses are kind ladies typically. You do have to go to the register to pay!

Brought the wife here on a weekday morning for a quick brunch date. Sat at a booth and was served immediately. Staff were nice and food wasn't bad. Wish they had white rice on the menu though.

Really not sure what the fuss is about. The food here was quite average and the service was barely okay. Our server was not attentive or friendly. Not worth the 30 plus dollars we paid for an average breakfast.

Scrambled eggs and sausage links (both missing a bite already)

I thought the food was great! Coffee is okay but hot! (Which is a HUGE plus for me) my husband ordered the big breakfast and I ordered the 1/2 French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links. I thought mine was great! I especially enjoyed the sausage links. I thought the French toast was perfectly balanced. Not so thick that it was mostly bread and not to eggy that it didn't taste like French toast. My favorite was surprisingly the scrambled eggs. I ordered them but regretted it immediately after I remembered they aren't usually good in restaurants. HOWEVER, I loved them! They were cooked perfectly! Not hard at all and not undercooked either. They were soft, fluffy and full of flavor. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was that our server was only around to take our order and bring our food. She forgot the pancakes for my husband so we had to ask for those after we had already given it some time and asked someone else. I'm hoping they work as a team and share tips since 2 other servers stepped in to help.

The food was good. They don't offer eggs Benedict, but still very tasty. Good service

Sunrise Breakfast Shoppe reminds me of the inside of one of my Filipino friend's (from childhood) home. It gives a very cozy feel with a hodge podge of decor. The staff is all very nice. Whoever is available will wait on you and assist with refilling drinking and whatever else may be needed during your visit. They have a large menu with a variety of options, and a huge plus to me, they serve lattes! I had the Filipino breakfast with scrambled eggs with cheese, fried rice, tocino (bacon), toast, and 2 pancakes. Everything was great! The tocino is not your typical American bacon. It is a lot thicker (even thicker than thick sliced bacon) and has a sweeter taste. The fried rice was a unique, but very tasty addition. I loved their pancakes! They were super fluffy without being dried out! I had plenty of food to basically take home a second meal. Oh and I also tried the home fried potatoes, and while they look bland, they are SO good! Flavorful, seasoned well. I will return to Sunrise Breakfast Shoppe.

Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

They have only been operating for a month now, this was their third brewery appearance. For appetizers they have a buffalo chicken dip and pimento cheese nacho- talk about solid brewery apps! Most of their menu items are types of wraps. Their special was chicken fajita tacos (Cinco de Mayo celebration) and for dessert they had a crispy ice cream sandwich. One unique thing that I don't see many food trucks do, is they offer kids menu items as well! Again- it is just their third day- this could all be totally different once they are more established and have tried different things. I opted to get the ice cream sandwich, because I'm a total sucker for dessert. I ate this first. Two crispy shells with a cinnamon sugar mix and if I'm not wrong it possibly a second seasoning that had a little kick to it. Maybe it was a touch of cayenne? Definitely not strong or overpowering in spice, just a little something to make it interesting. In the middle was a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The vanilla was complimented by the cinnamon and the chocolate was complimented by whatever that other ingredient was. I was definitely a fan! The more I ate the more I wanted more! I also got the chicken fajita taco special. I should point out that if I didn't go for the food truck option at Smartmouth I was headed to my favorite taco spot in VB. Maybe it was the unintentional comparison of the authentic street taco from my favorite spot, but these tacos fell a little flat for me. Not letting it really affect my review, because I did eat dessert first and then I messed around taking pictures before getting to them. It might be a "it's not you, it's me" thing with the tacos- I'll own this one. The tacos were served with a side of corn on the cob. It had a lemon cilantro butter which was fantastic! I'll definitely be craving that corn again sometime! The prices were on the lower-side of average for the food truck scene in Hampton Roads. Prices are another thing that might change as they are in business longer. They were also extra friendly from the moment I stepped up to the truck! Offering me whatever I needed and even getting out of the truck to come ask me a question of convenience, not necessity. I know several spots that would have just shouted it or not even bothered. So far so good! I hope they keep popping up at Smartmouth VB so I can try more of their menu and see how they change things up as they get a few more months of operation behind them! I'll definitely be updating as I try more! Next time I'm definitely going for the pimento cheese nachos!

I chose menudo, pancit, pork belly, and lumpia with a side of sauce for about $15. The prices seemed pretty reasonable. The portions were decent also. The menudo was flavorful and filling the meat was tender but there were a few pieces with fat. The pancit was tasty. It wasn't heavy on vegetables, I wish there were more. The pork belly was crispy and I liked it, but a few pieces were over cooked and had an awkward burnt old flavor. I can't really explain it. But the taste caught me off guard. I enjoyed the lumpia. They had beef inside and went good with the sauce. Their sweet chili sauce is yellow, not like most that are orangeish red. But it was good. The staff was busy. This wasn't "good for catering" food. This was just flat-out excellent food. They packed the trays to the brim, no skimping, no empty corners, just generous portions across the board. The flavors were bold, balanced, and clearly made with care. Everything tasted homemade in the best way, like someone's auntie was in the back kitchen making sure it was done right. The meats were tender, the sides were flavorful, and nothing was dried out or bland. Even people who had never had Filipino food before were going back for seconds.
