The stars aligned today. My wife had the day off from work, and I didn't have any critical meetings to attend, so we were able to enjoy lunch together. We decided to stay close to home and headed over to The Egg Bistro, conveniently located just across the street from us. It's actually within walking distance, but not today--not in this oppressive heat! We love coming here because the food is consistently excellent, the staff is always friendly, and every visit is a great experience. My wife ordered the Chicken Salad Wrap with a side of onion rings, and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The onion rings arrived piping hot with just the right amount of seasoning, perfectly crisp and absolutely delicious. The Chicken Salad Wrap was fresh, flavorful, and every bit as satisfying. I ordered my favorite sandwich on the menu: a BLT with scrambled egg and Pepper Jack cheese on sourdough bread. It comes loaded with a generous portion of perfectly crispy bacon, which is always a treat. The lettuce and tomato were garden fresh, and every ingredient came together beautifully. This was my first time at the Egg Bistro, it was recommended by a friend so I wanted to give it a try. First off it was pretty busy, I went on a Saturday and had a party of 7, there was a 35 minute wait but the waitlist went pretty fast. We all were seated and ordered, the food came out quick for all of us. I had gotten the Belgian waffle and the presentation was nice but it needed more of something. It was definitely lacking the flavor. Hashbrowns and sausage were good but this restaurant was alright in my opinion. Headed out to Egg Bistro, my favorite breakfast spots in Chesapeake. Parking was a breeze on a Sunday morning as they are the only business open in the shopping center. I opted to go with the seasonal menu and ordered the Brisket benny; a version of eggs benedict on toasted baguette, topped with brisket slices, poached egg, hollandaise sauce, BBQ sauce, and fried onion straws. The business should really look into that because their entrance is only so big and they do have benches outside but I mean waiting as you drive is a lot better then to sit and wait after you are already there... -staff was very friendly and accommodating (we had a large party). -large parties do have a 20% gratuity included in the bill. -they have mimosas with fruit purees!!! We arrived at lunch time on a Tuesday and it was packed. After being sat at the bar, our waitress/bartender promptly took our order and put it in. The entire wait was about 10 or so minutes and she refilled drinks a couple times before the food was served. She was extremely attentive and fast. The food was amazing as always! Hot and very tasty! I ordered the chicken fried steak with cubed potatoes and a biscuit. I loved it all except the biscuit. And that's not because it was bad, my sister loves these biscuits, I prefer mine soft and she likes hers well done All in all another wonderful experience here. This place is always a hit and you know by the wait time there's always a wait but it's well worth it. The food is always consistently good and the service is always amazing. I would first like to say that I've been a regular and loyal customer since moving here. The host and the young lady who brought me my order, their service was top tier! My order was promised for 9:52. I showed up at 9:55, only to end up waiting an additional 25 minutes. By the time I finally got my food and drove the three minutes home, it was already cold. Not warm. Not edible. Cold. And let me be clear: I always tip. Every single time, but this is the first time I have ever wished I could take my tip back. The frustration only got worse when I opened the container. My portion was noticeably smaller than what I ALWAYS get. I order this exact meal every visit, so I know what a normal serving looks like. This was borderline disrespectful. Then came the final straw: the potatoes. Hard, undercooked, and still with that unpleasant bite to them. On top of that, they had old black and brown spots--completely unappetizing and something that should never leave a kitchen if anyone is actually checking food quality. I didn't get a cocktail but from the table around they had very nice drinks. The food was good, but I think the best dish by far the blueberry infused pancakes. A classic diner! Good food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The food is classic with a twist. My niece enjoyed the strawberry-infused pancakes. My daughter had the omelet and allowed me to try it, and it's a must-have on my next visit. The variety of coffee is fantastic for me! I love coffee on the weekends when we dine out for breakfast.
