So full disclosure I have eaten their food at least 2 other times during the year since I first found this gem and both times it was take out. Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. My husband and I both enjoyed our brunch today. We both agree the fried chicken is made perfectly. I decided to try pancakes this time, and the Berry Jam'ilow was delicious. Between the fruit, the bourbon cream cheese frosting, and syrup on the side - Yum! I also enjoyed my Orange Creamsicle Fizz, once again. The servers were all friendly and helpful. I realized the Coke keg changed and the young lady had it fixed in a snap, and she let us know it was ready, although my husband did enjoy your Root Beer, too. Plenty of parking especially in the morning before other businesses are open. We came on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy. We were able to look at the whole menu and went up to order. The people were friendly and food/drinks came out fairly quickly. The cinnamocha coffee was good. The pancake corndogs were delicious with the sauce and has a breakfast sausage inside. The loaded tater tots were a nice touch with the bacon and cheese inside. The bonuts were OK. It was more like fried biscuits with cinnamon sugar on it so they were a bit on the dry side. Stopped by around 11 am for something to eat while running errands and it was packed! Had a decent wait in line and was able to luckily get a table. Def should've looked at the menu before I went in because I felt a little rushed since so many people were behind me and I ended up just picking a random biscuit on the menu. I ordered the Boozy Bird (4/10) it came with bourbon maple syrup on the side, so the chicken itself was just dry with no condiments. The biscuit was dry as well, so I just wasn't pleased. Pouring and dipping the biscuit in the syrup overall was just messy. Chicken needed a little more flavor also. I also tried their Loaded breakfast tots (8/10) they tasted good and had a sweet tea. I might go back again to try a different biscuit, def going to look over the entire menu first and know exactly what I'm doing to get before hand though if I do go back lol. This is in a cute little mall across from a new luxury apartment development in Chesapeake with a few other nice stores and restaurants. We stopped in for brunch one day on a whim and loved it! I got the boomer which is a dish with two biscuits smothered with mushroom gravy and my partner got a single biscuit with sausage gravy over it, and we shared the bonut holes, which are biscuit, donut holes, covered with cinnamon sugar with bourbon cream frosting. We did not like the cream cheese frosting as much as the chocolate sauce that we got on the side - highly recommend chocolate sauce on the side. So this place has kind of quick service vibes they have menus and then you get into a line in order at the front and then they'll give you a little number placard thing that you sit down at a table and then they'll bring the food out to you and also Bus your table once you leave. We really enjoyed coming here even though it was a little chilly when we came so bring your light jacket or a cardigan. It could've been because it was an overcast day and they probably had the AC cranking for the summer. The bonut holes were good and reminded me of Beignets I had down in the French Quarter. While I enjoyed both the sausage biscuit gravy and the mushroom biscuit gravy, I think the mushroom is actually better. If it were possible to mix the two I think that would be the best of both worlds. Overall, the food was really enjoyable and came out pretty quickly. Bottom Line: This is a good brunch spot. Almost a year later for a review and what a crazy difference. We've been here a few times but I wanted to give it a good shake before reviewing again. You can tell that the management is taking customer service very seriously. Went out here for breakfast with the family and the staff was super friendly and inviting. We felt very welcome and they took the time to listen to our order. Now I can say that they got part of our order wrong. However, the service was so friendly that we were willing to not care about it. The food has always been solid. It's one of the few places that our entire family has something they can enjoy. Stopped in to try something new today. The service was amazing (the reason for my two stars). The food left so much to be desired. My boyfriend got "The Go Getta" and they knew they should have went and tried again. I saw as soon as it came to the table that the gravy was broken. No one wants lumpy gravy unless its lumpy from the meat ya'll. I ordered The Frenchie and this was the driest, crustiest french toast fusion I have every tried. The only thing I can say was good about mine, we're the strawberries and blueberries. The restaurant was clean. We've been twice so far. The first time, we absolutely loved it and were excited to come back. Based on that experience, we brought our kids about a week later. During that visit, my daughter and I both ordered the avocado toast. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or just how it's normally prepared, but there was an insane amount of balsamic vinegar. It had pooled at the bottom of the plate, and the toast itself was completely soaked. We expect it with avocado toast, but this was to the point where it was mostly inedible. There were parts of the toast that we actually could not eat because of how much there was. If that was just an off day, I totally understand, but if that's how it's typically made, I'd really suggest scaling it back to more of a light drizzle on top. It would make a big difference, because as it was served, it's not something I'd order again or recommend. read more

Arrived at Biscuit Belly a few minutes after opening on Saturday morning. I saw the mixed reviews and wanted to see for myself. I specifically came when I thought they wouldn't be busy, one because I am not a fan of crowds, and two the less than good reviews seemed when they were the most busy. The menu is a little overwhelming, two full sides of so many delicious items. I settled in on the smoke show, it comes with hash browns or cheese grits. Instead of those choices, I opted for a side of fried Green tomatoes and bacon for an up charge. I also ordered two espressos. They were both doubles which I combined and made my own latte by adding half n half, only $5, wingood. It is expresso from a machine so there was that. Still satisfying. The Smoke Show was super delicious. It didn't look like a lot of food, but looks can be deceiving because it filled me up. The bacon was thick and quite good. The fried Green tomatoes were good, especially with the sauce, but they were thin, more breading than tomato so I didn't get that nice Green tomato tang. Still quite good. I got to meet Jessie who brought my drinks. She was wonderful. It was the Christmas season and she had a Green dress with jingle bells, which kept me smiling. I really liked the decor. It was clean and bright. The food is exceptional, especially if you compare it to an IHOP or Dennys. It is miles above either. And I like the concept, you order your food at the counter. Food is always amazing, I have never been to the Biscuit Belly and left unhappy. Service is sometimes a hit or miss depending on the day and who's working. Nothing that would deter you from visiting but I can't vouch for consistency. Maybe 2-3 times out of more than two handfuls of visits. When you enter the establishment you grab a menu and queue to the left, order at the kiosk, and then find a seat. There have been times we had to wait since this place is so busy especially on your typical brunch time/days. The place is pretty clean, they could use a good after hour to do a deep clean because there are a few areas that need it. Especially the walls or drink areas. I do wish they had a physical menu for their seasonal items, they show on the screen but sometimes they change too fast and I can't remember what there is. They also recently chained their point system, which made me lose all of ours sadly. When the girl at the kiosk mentioned this she didn't have the time to show me how to fix it and says "maybe next time". That was a big upset for me personally. Visited this weekend with my husband and toddler and could not be happier with the decision. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to our child, the food was great, and the atmosphere was inviting and festive for the holidays. We tried both the bonuts (biscuit/donut combination) appetizer and they were a hit with the kid. They had some healthy/vegan items as well as all the decadent Southern staples you love to hate (or hate to love) - like chicken and waffles, sausage gravy, tons of breakfast biscuit sandwich combos, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, etc. I had a shaken sweet iced espresso and it was DELISH. Not too, too sweet but still a treat. As well as the Boozy Bird sans the extra booze shot. So mine was essentials a biscuit with fried chicken and a side of maple syrup. Biscuit was delicious and fluffy and warm and the chicken was great. I saw other combos that looked wonderful but, still trying to lose the last 10 lbs of baby weight so.... not right now. We sat for about 2.5 hours catching up and had no issues. I used the restroom and they have two nice, clean restrooms with a baby changing station. Important. I was in the area and I stopped to eat in. This was the first time eating there. It was very busy and I was lucky to get a seat. I ordered pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and coffee. I asked for a side of bacon the cashier said I would receive 2 slices of bacon with my order, no bacon but I did receive applesauce. I stopped a waiter for my coffee, I was supposed to get a cup at the register and get my own coffee. The coffee was on the other side from where I was eating. When I went to get my coffee, I saw the waitress stacking my dishes. I explained to her I was still eating, she was apologizing and said they can make me fresh eggs. I told her I was fine. I drank my coffee and took my fried green tomatoes because they were on top of the stack. The food was good. Loved the fried green tomatoes. Our hotel was near Biscuit Belly so there was no way we weren't going to see what this place was all about. We arrived around 11am and there was a bit of a line inside but the cool part is that you actually wait on line to order your food at the counter and they then bring it to your table. We had a friend in our party secure a table for us (bc it's self serve first come first serve seating) and she then texted us what she wanted to eat. While we were on line we saw that if you sign up for their app you immediately receive a code for a free order of Bonuts so you know we did it (and the Bonuts were delish). The fried green tomatoes were flavorful and the dipping sauce they were accompanied with took them up a level. The cheesy grits were actually some of the best I've ever had and they needed not a single thing added to them. The Momma's Boy biscuit sandwich was good, however, the biscuit wasn't all that I expected ... especially since the restaurant has biscuit in its name. But the overall array of flavors of the sandwich worked very well together and I can see why folks love having breakfast / brunch here. I was pleasantly pleased with my first time at Bisquit Belly. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The biscuit wasn't too dry it was simply delicious. Now the jam to me was a tad acidic but it wasn't nasty by any means. Loved loved the home fries, they were seasoned and cooked exceptionally well. I also had the sausage patties and scrambled eggs which were tasty also. My husband had the home fries, a busicuit with sausage as well and scrambled eggs and a small cup of gravy as well. Of course I signed up for their reward program and got the free bonuts "donut holes," they were too too sweet for me but I'm sure if my children were with us they would've loved them. Simply preference. We will definitely be going back because the food was great but the overall customer service was even better. I want to say the manager greeted is and asked had we dined there before once we said no she took the time to sort of explain the menu and even gave great suggestions as well. As we dined in for breakfast, we saw several small groups having team meetings while dining. This is a nice spot and they also have outdoor sitting capability as well on the side of the building. In town for a new grandbaby and turned out to be my daughter's first outing after giving birth several days before and before we leave town. I'm very conflicted with how to rate the experience. On several aspects it was the best breakfast we'd had in Chesapeake, yet the most disappointing on other levels. In summary I'll give it 3 stars and will return again with hopes/expectations it will achieve a 5 that it deserves. Cute place, very busy, and all the servers were dressed to convey a homy breakfast like you were at someone's home. Very nice. Cashier while nice wasn't particularly helpful/outgoing with information knowing it was our first visit. Coffee and Bonuts were a hit to get things started. Who could imagine a biscuit bit could be a sweet treat to get the ball rolling! I ordered the Belly Board with scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and a biscuit (of course). Everything was good yet everyone who had bacon at the table agreed it was rather undercooked, floppy, about 50% of it was unappealing. We don't need it crispy, but when you pick it up our preference is for it to have some structure and not be a floppy resemblance of wet noodles. My wife ordered the same thing with a side of gravy which apparently means no jam for the biscuit (ok, we had enough to share). The true disappointment in the entire meal, for the woman who is out of the house for the first time since giving birth a few days before, was the utter failure of the avocado toast. While the toast was ok, the avocado appeared to be a very (i underscore VERY) thin smear of what seemed to be a prepared avocado spread, topped with two eggs that were utterly raw. Yes, runny yolks are fine, but the majority of whites were runny, drippy, and not at all appealing or appetizing. Much of the eggs were pushed out of the way to make room for the edible portion. While I've often seen bacon undercooked, I'm not sure I've ever seen eggs that undercooked. Add the fact there was no butter for any of the biscuits on the table (we had to go ask) and perhaps you can see my dilemma. We were looking for a breakfast spot when I ran across the pictures and reviews for this restaurant. So, wheels up..let's check it out. We arrived around 10 am on Sat morning and almost immediately noticed the long line through the door. I shot a quick look at the hubby, and his shoulders went up, indicating we're already here and I'm hungry. I looked at my son... he hadn't learned many social ques yet, so he immediately sniffed his armpit and mumbled, "Meh." Ok, whatever... let's go in. There are menus to pick up and look through while you're heading down the line. It took about 10 minutes to get the counter to place our order. Now the place was super crowded and I have to admit I was concerned that we wouldn't have a place to sit, but luckily when we were almost done ordering I spotted a table and asked the lady if I could go ahead and snag it. In my haste to get to the table, I forgot the table number that has to be displayed, and was quickly told, after sitting down, that you can't claim a table until you've ordered. I pointed out my husband paying at the counter and heading over with the number and was allowed to stay Our 2 coffees came out after about 5 minutes, and then we waited maybe another 25-30 (maybe a bit longer) minutes before the food came out. The manager, Shannon, did come by and apologize for the wait. She also offered two free biscuit coupons for our next visit. That did help with alleviating some of the disappointment. What we ordered: The Cinnamocha - (really good. Sweet) Praline Mocha - (also really good) The Shortstack Pancakes Berry Jam'ilow pancakes Bricket Biscuit All of the food and coffee received high rating. We honestly enjoyed everything. A couple of things I noticed that may be helpful. 1. They have a sofa for waiting under the neon sign and some chairs next to the outdoor seating. 2. When you get ice for your drink, some will probably waste on the floor. That carpet is there for a reason. 3. The bathrooms are for single occupancy. A line formed a few times when we were there. So, if you have to go then don't wait around. We plan to come back in the future. read more

We weren't sure if we were supposed to sit and wait for a server or go to the register first and then sit. After standing for a few minutes other customers walked in and asked us if the was supposed to order first. So maybe a sign close to the door could lessen the confusion.
