But they did eventually, and they were friendly. I looked around to see what they had. It was different whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, breads, coffee, cinnamon rolls, quiches, and etc. They are affiliated with the 17 hands coffee shop next door. They make the quiches and baked goods for them. The whole cakes looked pretty. They also had some fall flavors in desserts and coffee!! I did find it confusing that nothing had prices. I had to keep asking how much everything I was interested in was. The cake slices are about $7-8 per slice and the cookies were $3-4 depending on the flavor. I got a red velvet and a double chocolate cookie. They were both a good size and thick. They were ok. But nothing buttery or special stood out. The double chocolate was the better cookie out of the 2. The red velvet was a little bland. But looked appealing. I'd like to try their cakes in the future. I will say there were a few fruit flies lingering in the showcase which is why I chose the cookies. There's some outdoor seating. They only sell whole quiches here, but you can purchase individual slices next door, because they don't have the capability to heat them up there. I'd come back to try other things. Visited today for a scone and some coffee. It's been awhile since I visited. Had the Maple seasonal coffee latte and it was a bit overly sweet great flavor. Maple pecan scone was tasty but I think the savory scones are just above all here. Onion Gouda and jalapeño are incredible. I don't see many bakeries in my area of Chesapeake, so when I saw this one, I just had to stop in. My friend, Terri and I were both happy we did. She enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies, and I bought three treats to share with my husband and son, for my son's birthday. Cute cafe, friendly staff but there are absolutely no prices listed on any drinks, bakery or lunch items. Pretty sure that's in violation of some sort of Virginia law, lol. It also just feels very shady on a customer's perspective. They also have cups on the side to show their small, medium, and large sizes so my husband and I ordered large lattes. To our disappointment, we received our drinks in medium cups. I asked if this was indeed the large size, and two baristas said yes - despite only getting a 16 oz drink. Maybe there should be a sign explaining what drinks come in what sizes, but again... it felt shady & misleading as a paying customer. Two "large" drinks, a carrot muffin, and a cinnamon roll came up to $30. In this economy, I think people would appreciate some price transparency. A great way to start the day is with a drink from here! Service is always great and the everyone seems to work together great to get orders out even when the line is almost to the front door. Their new flavor for September the Salted maple latte with salted caramel whip cream is definitely a hit for fall. I got it iced and man I wish I ordered a larger size cause I demolished it in no time it was so good. Not overly sweet and you can still taste the coffee which is nice, unlike some places you can only taste the milk and syrups. They have been around for a hot minute and the space is quiet small but still feels cozy when your inside when its busy. I highly recommend if you haven't tried this place to give it a shot. Getting a special shaken espresso and a slice of quiche was $24. Whenever my husband and I come together, we expect to spend at least $30. It's not like we're buying more than one drink and maybe one breakfast item. Sucks to see as it used to be our favorite spot. + it still takes 10 minutes (on a good day) to get your food. Yummy coffee shop!!! Was down in this area and decided to caffeinate before heading to a concert and it was a great experience! Coffee was delicious! I have been coming to this coffee for a few months now and decided it was finally time for me to write a review. I have 3 coffee shops that I frequently visit, and this is one of them. It takes a lot for me to give a 5 star review because 5 stars, to me, means you are damm near perfect, and I have no recommendations for improvement. 17hands gets 5 because they consistently deliver a well-balanced, flavorful latte, and their customer service is top-notch. I normally stop by at least once a week, and it would be more frequent if I didn't live 20 minutes away. I'm always greeted by Kelly and other staffed as soon as I walk in the door. Depending on what time of day you go, there could be a long wait. On weekends, I definitely recommend getting there before 9 am, if not, you might be there for 30-60 mins waiting on your order, but it is definitely worth it. The ambiance gives a very rustic but chill vibe. They also have some outdoor seating. My latte recommendations are the butter beer and the bourbon caramel machiatto. Seasonal recommendations are, of course, the pumpkin spice latte and the cinnamon apple latte. I'm more than positive you will like your drink no matter the flavor. If you are concerned about the sweetness or sugar content, you can request half sugar. One unique thing about this coffee shop is that they also serve cocktail. I personally love a good coffee cocktail. I have tried the traditional Irish coffee and the pumpkin white Russian. The Isish coffee was nice and smooth and had the perfect amount of whiskey. The pumpkin white Russian is a fall flavor and was delicious. I definitely plan to order that again before the end of the season. I'm was never a big fan of scones because they are usually dry, and most times, they lack flavor. However, the scones at 17hands are absolutely Devine and highly recommended. Their scones are super moist and flavorful. I've tried a few different flavors, with the blueberry lemon being my normal go-to. They offer both sweet and savory flavors, as well as a vegan option. Other baked item recommendations are the cinnamon rolls, which sell out normally, and the sticky pecan roll. The sticky pecan roll, I think, might be seasonal. It is very delicious, however, I do find it a little pricey. They also have pre-sliced cakes and pies in the fridge from their bakery next door; which is very convenient. read more

What a great coffee shop. I truly wish someone would open one closer to me. Let me start with the selection of items this gem has to offer. It was a little difficult to pick just one drink . They all sounded amazing. I chose the bourbon caramel latte with oat milk and boy was I happy with my choice. Would definitely order this again after I get through all the other choices available. The service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and patient. I guess they are used to having their guest stumped with trying to making a choice. The shop is very inviting. Their decor is very eclectic but homey. I found it to be a fun place to sit for a bit and have a great cup of coffee. While we waited for our coffee we decided to go next door thinking it was a separate business. Turns out that the bakery and coffee shop are one and the same. They get all their goodies freshly baked from next door. Had a great conversation with the owner. She was so friendly and open to answering all our questions. The menus are extensive. The scones, pies, and biscuits are delectable. The coffee is versatile enough that there is something for every type of coffee lover. BUT I think what really makes 17 Hands stand out is their service. I'm not sure of the man at the front's name. I think it might be Dave but this guy is the definition of gregarious. Every time I've stopped in at 17 Hands he is at the register chatting up the customers and affirming everyone's choices from the menu. He is so kind and lively that it makes waiting in the often long lines worth it. I can see 17 Hands quickly outgrowing their current space. My hope for this business is one day they will have a standalone store to provide better parking and more seating. Holy moly, 17 Hands does not mess around. I've come to understand that 17 Hands is one of the better, if not the best, local coffee spots. When I came in with my sister on 10/23/22, I may have to agree. They offer so much more than just good coffee - 17 Hands demands multiple visits in order to try the plethora of items they offer. So they have coffee - check. They offer tea - another check. Wait, they offer scones? Cakes? Biscuits? Cookies? Cheesecakes? Quiche? They sell coffee beans so you can brew coffee at home? Whoa, they have a LOT of stuff. In addition, their staff is friendly and patient, so the entire experience was fantastic as well as overwhelming (in a good way). Not being a coffee drinker, I had some hot tea. My sister, her husband and I split the key lime pie (delicious!) and Oreo Explosion (rich but tasty). My godson was busy playing with his toy cars (and the lazy Susan - sometimes simultaneously), but he enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie and tap water. I think the only issue I observed is there isn't a lot of indoor seating - their kitchen area takes up a lot of space. There isn't much space left for customers to really chill. Came here the other day for the first time while I was out, and it will definitely not be my last. I got the nitro cold brew and my husband got the regular cold brew/ both really good. We also split a piece of the red velvet cake .... Cue the drool. I finished off my trip with a lavender lemonade for the road, which was very tangy and had a strong lavender flavor. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their baked goods and specialty drinks! The scone flavors were calling my name, so that is definitely on the list. For one, they are the only place in HR that can consistently get a cortado right- so that's 5 star service right there. Also, their baked good- to.die.for. Drove to this "little" gorgeous place to check it off my punchcard for the Coastal Coffee Trail. I am so glad I joined the trail else I would have never come across this gem of a coffee house/bakery.
