A while back, there was a Yelp Experience event held at this little coffee shop located in the Princess Anne area of Virginia Beach. The visit was really good where I enjoyed my selections. On the way to a restaurant in nearby Pungo for a Yelp event, I stopped here for some treats. Let's see if the good vibes lasted. After parking behind the building, I walked inside towards the counter where staff was already in place. They greeted me immediately once I walked up. At first, I was gonna order the Double Jeopardy coffee, but once I saw their Summer Latte menu, my mind was immediately changed. I picked a small hot The Verdict which was toasted marshmallow and dark mocha (milk was 2%) and also a white chocolate coconut cookie. Everything was really good. The coffee was well made and the cookie wasn't too sweet. I ended up sitting in The Judge private room which was really nice. I didn't take any pics since there were other folks inside, but it's a nice area where you can hang with some friends or your significant other. An excellent time here at Astraea Coffee. Two little birdies told me that if you haven't tried Astrea Coffee Cafe, i was missing out! They had Amazing food, delightful desserts, and handcrafted drinks. I loved this house turned into cafe. There is plenty of seating around the main house, upstairs, downstairs, and even more seating in their back barn. I love the atmosphere of the cafe and every one from the staff to the customers were all chill. The vibe in this coffee shop is fabulous! I love that Astrea is divided up into several different areas so you can sit and work inside, or enjoy their outdoor area (which is massive!). The drink I chose was trial by jury iced coffee. I appreciate that the cinnamon flavor was not overpowering, and it was lovely to sip on as I sat outside and worked on the front porch area. They had lots of pastry items on the menu, I would definitely like to try something fabulous the next time I go! The staff seemed joyful, and my drink was out extremely fast! read more

What a really cute gem to find after hitting the VB courthouse for officiating a wedding. The LOVE sign outside is adorable. The front porch with a swing and outdoor games (corn hole) is too cute. There were people filling every spot on my random Monday morning trek. The young women working were lovely! I told the front server that it was my first visit and she was super welcoming. I got the lavender latte, hot and a lox bagel, which was the best bagel I've had maybe ever. I was bummed not to have a mug to sit and stay with my latte but I didn't tell her my preference and she didn't ask, but likely assumed bc I was alone(?). My only qualm was the parking was full so I had to walk a bit but then I found a lovely path to a park and an old house. Like do I even know my city (definitely not these parts!). Oh oh oh. Really great experience! The brownie was delicious, perfect texture and flavor. I also tried an iced coffee with lavender. It had a smooth taste with a light floral note. Not too sweet and not too bitter. The space is super cozy with plenty of seating, including indoor and outdoor areas. The customer service was excellent, everyone was very kind. The scone had a banana flavor for some reason it felt very artificial and very off putting, not a great scone . They had limited parking. The service was quick and people working were friendly. This cute local coffee shop is perfect to start your morning!! It is my first time in Virginia and I am SO glad we stopped here!! This coffee shop had a decent line but the drinks came out quickly and absolutely delicious!! I wish I lived over here so I could stroll in any day of the week and grab a fresh cup of coffee here to start my day :) There were plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy your coffee, both inside and outside. I recently stopped by and decided to try their Butterbeer Latte, and it did not disappoint. The combination of brown sugar, vanilla, and the deliciously creamy cold foam was perfection. I opted for almond milk instead of whole, and the drink was still rich and flavorful! A little sweet, but doable. The interior of Astraea is bright, clean, and perfect for getting work done. I brought my laptop and ended up staying for a few hours. The atmosphere is incredibly remote work-friendly, with plenty of seating and outlets. I love me some coffee. In all ways. I will take it how I can get it and when I travel, I always look for a cute coffee shop to try. Astraea Coffee isn't new - it's been a place I've been dying to try for a while but just haven't been able to sneak over for one reason or another. I like the location because I like the Princess Anne Courthouse area of town. I liked it even more when Their parking lot is small and I must've shown up during a really busy lunch rush bc there was absolutely no parking and their lot is small so I had to back out at an angle... but, it's right beside a local park with tons of parking and you can easily park and walk over, which is what I did so crisis averted, I'm back on track! Inside is cute with various rooms and mismatched furniture. I was really impressed with the menu with loads of wraps and salads and smoothies as well as breakfast foods and an açaí bowl and such. Large menu. In the end, I went with a chicken Ceasar wrap and iced oat milk latte. The latte was really really good. The wrap was out very quickly and a huge portion size. The gals working behind the counter was also super nice. I plan to come back when it's warmer and enjoy a walk around the park and lunch. Great first experience. read more

New favorite! Went when they had an antique pop up a few weekends ago & have been back at least once a week since. I've tried the salted caramel added white mocha & the bail out both with almond milk. Ordered the overnight oats and a toasted marshmallow latte. The small blonde girl taking orders needs to work on her people skills. She wasn't friendly to the slightest, it actually made us want to turn around and walk out. It was super unfortunate. The overnight oats were a 10/10. My coffee was a 6/10. Couldn't really taste the flavor of the toasted marshmallow and was really dark. But the espresso itself was really good! Im not one to leave a review but it was necessary this time...I have gone here since they opened and loved it...I even got a gift card for Christmas from my friend...food, drinks and customer service were great and I love love love the ambience and old house feel...but unfortunately since then I have gone back 3 times and each time it's gone down hill. First unpleasant experience I ordered matcha it tasted like fish..which could be a quality or storing issue..they acted like I was crazy but I returned it and they made a different drink. The second time I ordered the lucky charm lattes and a few other drinks and food and lattes came out and tasted like sugar milk with whipped cream nothing lucky charm about it...my kids threw them away. Not to mention the horrible attitude by the girl that made them and handed them over...unpleasant, and side eye like crazy...The girl next to me laughed and had her drink remade twice and said she won't be back. Today I took my daughter bc we love the trails and I said hopefully it's better and once again..the lady that took my order very kind and helpful but once I got my order attitude and side eye and I asked for a bag bc it was to go..no thank no have a nice day just attitude..My drink was extremely sour I had three people I was with try it they told me to return it I said I just can't bc of the attitude in there..and I was holding back. My oats were always good in the past today they tasted like soupy milky oats not set overnight. I really hope they make some adjustments bc it's a shame. read more

My husband had the Liberty smoothie and I tried the Double Jeopardy iced coffee... both delicious! Also, had a very yummy blueberry scone drizzled with icing. Take my review for what it's worth, based on a one time visit. The establishment definitely has charm and is cozy. It was busy and crowded on a torrential downpour of a Saturday. We met up with friends and family and were able to occupy a corner table on the first floor. It can get noisy quickly. I'm sure we added to that noise. I had a bagel with cream cheese and the bare arms sans the spinach. Both the bagel & the bare arms smoothie, were unremarkable. My husband had the chai latte which he enjoyed and we shared an oreo mint brownie. The brownie was delicious but we were given the smallest piece. I must not have seen that small piece in the case hidden behind the massive pieces displayed in the front. Hence, the disappointment when it was handed to us. I would have requested a different piece had I paid attention. While this coffee house may check off all the boxes for others, unfortunately it didn't for me. (Which is ok, not every place will be for everyone.) It is a great place though to catch up with friends and be in a comfortable, cozy kind of loud environment. As well as convenient for those who work at the courthouse nearby. It's located next to the Whitehurst-Buffington house. Every time I am in the area, I make it a point to pop in for a quick pick-me-up! This is such a cute coffee shop! Located in a renovated cottage, it feels like you're walking into a friend's home and it's always so comforting to me and super cozy. - Parking - Private lot in the back of the cottage with limited spaces, but spillover parking can be found further down the street. Parking is in the back. - Vibe - The cottage has two floors. Bottom floor has 2 sections for you to sit in. When you first walk in is the foyer/fireplace with a few options for seating, by the bar by the window, a table or a one seater by the fireplace. To the right of the front door is another room with 3 tables, If you walk past the fireplace, you'll find the order counter and where the kitchen is. Upstairs, you'll find a couch and a play area and in the very back, you'll find another more quaint and semi-private room with a few more tables. My fave seat in the house is the table at the top center window. It's so cozy and they've even equipped it with a blanket! Outside, you will find super cute photo ops all over the place. There's even a "LOVE" sign, made of pallets! - Sips and Noms - They carry baked goods from various local vendors. You can find doughnuts, cookies, brownies and today, I found a new baked item, the scones! These are GIGANTIC, and looked like it was baked in a pie dish (it had the form at the bottom). The texture was a bit off for me, so I think I'll stick to the other goodies. As far as drinks go, I've enjoyed the Double Jeopardy latte (my go-to) and hot chocolate. Both great! They also carry handmade goods from local artisans! Love that! Just go out there and hang. Such a great space to work or just meet up with friends. This was such a cute spot! The coffee was really good and I enjoyed my food (I got a bagel with cream cheese). There is a lot of space inside in different rooms, as well as a large yard with tables outside. The staff were friendly and professional. There is also a ton of parking available. I loved the nature preserve next door as well. It was nice to sip my coffee while going for a little walk! The only issue I faced is that I planned to do a bit of work but their Wi-Fi wasn't working the day I was there. If the Wi-Fi is working then it seems like it would be a great spot for getting some work done! read more

I've been here twice now and definitely recommend if you want a smoothie or a chill place to catch up with a pal. Their smoothies are delicious, which came as kind of a surprise, honestly. The Law Abiding is great! Astraea is a spot to work only on days you don't have meetings and need to be on the phone. The music is super loud and even with noise-cancelling buds in, doesn't really allow for conversations. I also tried the Thai wrap which was just ok. There needs to be more peanut sauce and flavor. They have cute swings and patio seating, though all of it could use a refinish to look a bit more inviting. The service here is decent. I appreciate that you are at least greeted when you walk up to the counter. Most baristas nowadays don't even give you the time of day. There is a suuuuuper tiny upstairs with some kid friendly areas if you've got the young ones. read more

This place is so cute! I never would have guessed this place was a coffee shop just passing by, as this is a little house on the corner of the street next to the courthouses. I only found out about this place from google and social media. Astraea is the perfect little coffee shop for grabbing a bite to eat/coffee or to study or just socialize! There are two floors as well as outdoors available for seating. Every time I've gone to this place it's been PACKED. Finding a seat is hard to do (especially in the colder months when the outdoor seating is not preferable). I have noticed they put an outdoor heater around the side area which is nice. I love that this place is also dog-friendly! As for the food and drinks, it's comparable to any coffee shop. I personally love the matcha latte I've ordered, as it is not as chalky, very flavorful (as matcha is usually a subtler taste) and they make it very creamy! The Thai wrap I had was alright. The dressing was a bit too runny for me, like the consistency of water. The wrap could have been a little tighter too, so it got a little messy but I can't complain that they added a lot of stuffing in it! The veggie bagel was also pretty good, however they added a little too much cream cheese to my liking. Atmosphere here is KILLER. Couldn't be better, honestly. I love that there are many different rooms, all with slightly different vibes. Some areas are perfect for solo studying or work spaces, others are great for catching up with friends, etc. They have a wide array of coffee/latte flavors and combos, which I love. Since Fall flavors are back in season, I tried their seasonal Apple Crisp latte. It wasn't my favorite. Next time, I'll stick with pumpkin. Food-wise, I ordered the lox bagel which sadly wasn't the best. I tend to order this frequently and this one just wasn't done well. With absolutely no exaggeration, there was 10x too much cream cheese. The bagel to cream cheese ratio is basically 1:1. I can't imagine that this is the norm here, but I wiped off close to half a block of cream cheese before it was edible. We also ordered one of the gluten free pumpkin donuts, which was delicious. Even without loving the food, I decided to give 4 stars, just because I loved both the atmosphere and service so much. The girls working the counter and were very sweet and welcoming. I also know that although I didn't love the latte flavor, the coffee was good and I just didn't make the right choice. I will be back in hopes for a better breakfast experience. read more

They have the coolest names for the speciality drinks...I had an iced Lawsuit, which was lavender and white chocolate. It was yummy! I also had an Astraea Bagel. It has peanut butter, banana, honey, and coconut. They even server gluten-free bagels if that's your preference. It was great!! They even serve some gluten-free baked goods.
