I've heard rave reviews from locals and friends about it so when we needed a lunch to take with us kayaking yesterday around Rudee inlet, this was the day! Super friendly and easygoing staff inside. Lots of delicious sandwiches and wraps on the menu and you can make something of your own. I saw a ton of their sandwiches I'd love to come back and try. We chose to get the VB which was turkey, cheese, tomato and lettuce with bacon an house sauce (mayo, mustard, garlic, etc.) and it was SOoooo good! Loved it. Tasted great after a couple hours of kayaking. They make it fresh to order but do have some pastas and other things to take to go as well as delicious cookies (choc chip and red velvet) to throw in a bag. Stopped by on a Friday in April 2023, kinda busy and folks behind the counter seemed a bit overwhelmed. Slow, but whatever I have converted to "beach time" so stay cool! Ordered the "Combo" and the lady behind the Counter says what kind? I didn't say, "the only one on the menu" since that would have been rude. So I read the menu back to her and what is included on the sandwich. Also ordered the Walnut, Cranberry and Feta Garden Salad with Grilled Chicken Fajita Strips. Tad's was out of a couple of the dressing options? Salad was okay, but the chicken did not impress as something they whipped up in-house. I was staying near the waterfront recently and found this little gem. I'm not the biggest fan of cold sandwiches, but it was a convenient walk and they had a French Dip on the menu (as well as other hot sandwich options), so I had to give it a shot. I got the regular sized dip to go. The place itself has a small parking lot, and is small inside as well. Old-school kind of counter diner decor. Staff was all appropriately masked. Easily picked up my order and went back to my room for an outdoor dinner on my patio. This sandwich was solid -- a nice ratio of meat to cheese and the au jus was fairly flavorful. The bread could use an upgrade to a stiffer, more toasted style that would hold the sauce better without being mushy. In all, a tasty lunch for the price -- especially compared to the prices on the strip at the oceanfront! I'll easily stop here again in the future. read more

This is my go-to spot heading to or leaving the water. Sandwiches are one of my favorite beach foods. You can visit Tad's in in your swimsuit + cover up and not feel out of place ordering at the counter. They have a small lot with 6 dedicated parking spaces which is convenient. They have a large menu so there is something for everyone whether you're wanting a hot or cold sandwich. My go to is the Italian, but every time I look at their massive menu I tell myself that I'll branch out "next time." Solid, consistent, sandwiches. For COVID times they do have their dining room open limited capacity. They also have a small patio area. I have been getting it to go though. Staff were wearing masks and gloves. read more

I found this place when I was out at Dam Neck for training and I was craving a deli sandwich. I tried a few of their sandwiches, my favorite has to be the 10th street wrap with a few substitutions. Cucumber instead of avocado, house dressing instead of honey mustard really elevates this wrap IMO. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. The staff is what sets this place apart. I'm only able to make it down every couple of weeks, but the ladies who work behind the counter remember my order every single time. That's the kind of service I had growing up in a small town, having that same experience here is like a little slice of home. This is my favorite spot to grab a bite to eat, I highly recommend making the trip down no matter where you're at. read more

Bradley Cooper loves Tad's Deli i really worked up a fat appetite this morning with a 6 mile rollerblade at the VA beach oceanfront. i sat on the beach in the sun after in order to soak up the vitamin D and I said out loud to a close friend of mine, "you know what would fuck? a good sandwich." i looked up delis within walking distance and Tad's popped up. i said, "this is it. we're going to Tad's." i ordered a turkey club sandwich with avocado and white American cheese on sourdough. i opted out of the third slice of bread which is in the middle of most Tad's sandwiches. for sides i ordered the red skin potato salad and coleslaw. i am now one of the most satisfied customers of Tad's Deli. the sandwich was beautifully made; a lot of love and care went into making that sandwich. the ingredients were so fresh, so flavorful. it was a triumph. the sides left me speechless. the potato salad was perfect and well seasoned. the coleslaw wasn't overly dressed, it wasn't soggy and you could enjoy it. i washed it down with a diet Dr. Pepper because it's beach season, i'm no fool. 5 out of 5 Bradleys read more

So, one of my favorite foods is SUBS. I love subs and I go everywhere trying subs. My son and I stopped here to eat before we went to the aquarium. I looked at the menu, and it has quite a lot to choose from. The lady who was working was very sweet, and made some suggestions. I had told her this is my first time here. She told me which were the best and told me all the kids options. I chose the Italian sub...to keep it simple...I added banana peppers and hot peppers, potato salad, chips, drink, and a cookie...I also ordered the cheese sandwich,chips, and a drink for my son. The lady told us to take a seat. She had told us that they make their food and then we pay when we are done. My son and I sat down. This place was very clean. They kept it spotless in there. We got our food, and it was nicely placed in food baskets...I personally feel that my sandwich could have been better...for me it just seemed plain...and some people love plain...but i am not that type. The bread needed to be bigger. I took one bite of my sandwich and everything was coming out. The bread was extremely small compared to what was in it. I love a whole bunch of goodness. The dressing on the sandwich was ok. My son absolutely did not like their cheese sandwich. It was a cold sandwich, with cheese, mayo, and sour dough bread. I thought it would at least be toasted. They have a great choice of chips. I liked the potato salad, and the cookie...I I am not going to say this place was horrible. I had great service and a semi good sandwich. My wife and I stopped in for lunch this last weekend. I have to say I had no idea they had been there as long as they have. Anyway I had the New Yorker she went with the Rubin. I also ordered the French Onion soup. So overall we were really impressed with the place and look forward to returning. New Yorker great taste coleslaw fresh and made in house. The fastest way to kill a sandwich is to use Sysco Coleslaw in my opinion it just has an industrial taste that you can not ignore. Wife enjoyed her Rubin she prefers grilled sandwiches, and I think they toast the bread and then steam them here, but they both were still very good. She had a Red Velvet cookie to go which she enjoyed. The place was really clean and staff went out of there way to be helpful. Only down side was the soup I have had much, but I would try another. So again we really look forward to making a trip here again before the summer crowds take over. One of the better sandwich shops in the area. read more

I got the the Big Dip (hot) and she got the 10th Street Club (cold) and they were definitely filling and flavorful above all else. The thing that impressed me most was the service here, it was a very friendly and welcoming experience. We sat outside on the shaded patio, which was perfect even for a day teaching the 90s. We ordered and our food was brought to our table very quickly. I even came back inside to order the antipasta, and was surprised when the manager said she would love to sell me a pound but 1/4 pound would satisfy us which is honesty I really appreciated. The sub looked alright, decent size and the avocados looked fresh. On first bite the honey mustard was way overbearing, probably because it was slathered on ever slice of bread. To try to help save the meal, I took off the top slice of bread. Only to find a fly smashed into the cheese of the sandwich. Welp, there went my appetite! Tad's Deli closes at 6, which I didn't expect, so I came in terribly close to closing on my first visit. It feels a bit cramped inside, and there's only a handful of booths and tables to sit at, although there's also some outside seating as well. Fortunately, I had looked at a menu ahead of time, so I was able to make a snap decision (I ordered The Sailor) instead of being first faced with the plethora of options when I already felt rushed (I should note that *I* made myself feel rushed, none of the employees seemed to treat me with annoyance for coming in just 20 minutes before closing, though I would have understood if they had). My sandwich came out quickly and tasted great. Definitely a place I'd like to visit again if I can get out there early enough. read more

When you are tired of seafood and just want a good sandwich... We chose Tad's based on good yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. They have a large menu and their own parking lot. I got a Gobbler, which is turkey, cream cheese, and cranberries on the best white bread ever. He got a Reuben which was hot and melty and made him very happy. We got bottled drinks and a bag of the addictive "Dirty" chips. They had a row of booths off to the side, surf decor, and a TV. It seemed like it would be a nice place to hang out.
