If you know, you know!! Just in case you don't...here it is! In VA Beach and my friend suggested that I try Philly Cold Cuts for a quick lunch. I selected the Chicken Philly and it was good. It was a small lunch spot with a lot of business. By the taste of the food, it makes sense. The service was friendly.

Gotta say it sucks to order EXTRA cheese but half of it arrives stuck to the butcher paper. Gave 3 stars because what I could scrape off still tasted pretty good. Just beware of the packaging!

Hubby was hungry and wanted a cheesesteak. I've never eaten from here so I came to Yelp to look at pictures before ordering. He got a classic biggie cheesesteak and I got a shorty cheesesteak with mushrooms and cheese wiz. The cheese wiz was amazing and I'm so glad I got that. Also the bread was so amazing and soft. The bread and cheese wiz really made this sandwich. The meat was good too. He called to order it, went to pick it up, and the sandwich was still crazy hot when he got home. I'd definitely order the exact same thing next time. I also wanna try the fries that I saw so many amazing pictures of. Yum yum yum.

Lives up to the hype! So glad I finally made it here to try their Philly. Followed the advice of another Yelper and ordered the "Biggie". It is more than enough for two, but definitely will have leftovers. The food is delicious and the service was great. I tried the cheese fries along with my cheesesteak, and it was the perfect combination. I rarely give 5 stars, but in my humble opinion this place is a winner and very deserving. Definitely try it.

The first time I had a cheesesteak from Philly's I was bit disappointed as they put ketchup on it. Didn't ask for it and didn't want it. The last three times it was perfect. I like my cheesesteaks with extra Mayo, extra lettuce and mushrooms. I love that their cheesesteaks are no fuss, just perfectly filled with deliciousness. Will be back for another round.

I asked some friends where to get the best grinder in the area and they immediately said this place. I ordered the Italian sub and the cheese fries and they were FANTASTIC I didn't plan on eating all the fries but I couldn't help myself, they were like little fried slices of potato perfection calling them "fries" on the menu was misleading because they are more like seasoned thick curly steak fries and so much better than I expected for "fries." I'll never order a sub anywhere else but be advised they are closed on sundays! Chicfila rules apply lol! Worth it... Highly recommend

We sat in the bar area, which I'd definitely recommend if you're going for a more laid back vibe and want to take advantage of happy hour. First of all, happy hour is legit! They have half off select appetizers and drinks in the bar, which is always a win. We ordered the pizza of the day (supreme) and it did not disappoint. Crispy crust, generous toppings, and that classic Italian comfort flavor you're hoping for. We also grabbed the bolognese, which was half off for happy hour, and it was rich, hearty, and perfect for sharing (or not). And yes... martinis were half off, so obviously I had to get an espresso martini. Smooth, not too sweet, and exactly what I needed to balance out all the carbs. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and gave great suggestions without being pushy, which always makes a difference. On top of that, there was a man playing the piano, violin, and singing ... fully setting the mood. He absolutely got me when he started playing the Titanic song. Instant nostalgia. The whole place has an old-school Italian feel. Warm, welcoming, and the kind of spot you could linger in for hours. I also love that they do specials throughout the week, so it feels like a place you can keep coming back to and try something new. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Il Giardino is officially on my repeat list.

It's not even tourist season yet. Found La Bella Italia on Yelp showing available immediate reservations and decided to give it a try. Arrived at 6:30pm and it was busy but not packed. Husband and I were greeted and seated promptly but had about a 10 minute wait before a waiter came to bring water and inform us our waitress would be with us shortly. Another 5-7 min and the waitress came out. The waitress seemed nice but distracted or maybe very introverted. We started with the bread and butter and Insalata Di Cavalo (baby kale, apples, red onions, candied pecans, vinaigrette). The salad way yummy! The bread was decent (my husband would have wanted it warmer) not sure if the butter was just unsalted or if it was margarine but we didn't care for it. It was served with a bottle of oil and vinegar... A small oil dipping dish would have helped. We tried the bruschetta appetizer which was tasty but wish the basil would have been cut instead of one large leaf per toast. We realized at that point, the waitress never asked if we wanted drinks. I was only planning on drinking the water so it was no big deal to me. My husband caught the waitress at some point to request a drink. The big disappointment for the night was the Margherita pizza. I'm including a pic...but it was just cheese pizza, soggy bottomed at that. No fresh mozzarella, maybe there's some basil under the regular mozzarella, who knows. The cheese pizza flavor was average at best. Debated sending it back but my husband had been fasting all day and didn't want to wait for a new order. He ate 2 pieces, the rest was a waste. I ordered the salmon served over mushroom lemon risotto. We asked if there was any way to order a side of risotto for my vegetarian husband, but were told the chef was not willing to do it. Not really complaining about that since the risotto is not listed as an ala carte side. Salmon was cooked nicely. Crisp sear but not overdone on the inside. Risotto was only okay after all so it worked out they couldn't serve it as a side. I had to ask multiple times to see a dessert menu, waitress kept forgetting. I got a slice of the carrot cake. This was delicious but at $14 a slice it needed to be! Apparently it's made by their sister restaurant Steinhilbers (I haven't been there in years). Final note, the bathroom situation... There are 2 single room bathrooms for a restaurant holding up to 100 people. There is NO reason to label a single person bathroom as male or female. It just creates unnecessary waiting outside the "ladies room" Overall rating is probably a 3.5 but the service was lackluster, the bathroom thing annoyed me, and I'm still mad about the pizza... So I have to round it down to a 3.

Beautiful Space, But Food Missed the Mark My Bestie and I…read moredecided to try Gaston's Italian Steakhouse after a wine class at Total Wine (it's in the same plaza, which is super convenient). We were honestly a little hesitant going in because of the reviews... and unfortunately, I can see why now. First impressions -- the restaurant is gorgeous. The hostess stand is stunning, there's a visible dress code posted (which caught my attention), and the bar area where we were seated is beautifully designed with a very upscale Italian vibe. It was surprisingly empty for an 8 PM reservation, though -- only one other couple in the bar area and no one in the main dining room. Our waitress was a standout. She greeted us right away, was incredibly pleasant, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We always appreciate when a server can confidently recommend dishes -- it makes a difference. They start you off with focaccia bread, and I have to say... it was amazing. Soft, flavorful, and paired with olive oil and balsamic for dipping -- easily one of the best parts of the meal. (Side note: I'll never understand why two people get three pieces of bread give us four so we don't have to negotiate!) For entrées, my Bestie ordered the rigatoni Bolognese, and I went with the fettuccine Alfredo (no pancetta, no peas -- which they did accommodate). Here's where things went downhill. The pasta was not good. At all. I understand al dente, but this wasn't that -- it was hard. On top of that, it tasted like boxed pasta, which is disappointing for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale Italian. When we mentioned it to our server (after barely touching our plates), she did go back to the kitchen, but we were told that's just how they cook their pasta -- and nothing was adjusted. At that point, there wasn't much else to do. We didn't even bother with dessert. Between the underwhelming food and the unwillingness to address the issue, it just didn't live up to expectations -- especially after seeing how beautiful the space is and how great the service started off. Would I go back? Probably not. I prefer fresh, properly cooked pasta, and this just didn't deliver.
