Italian Melt Panini split with fries. Delicious

After years of coming to PMS deli. I'm still in love with them. I'm updating my review just to say. My nephew was in town and I told him we could go anywhere to eat. He picked PMS Deli and he got a sub and fries. You ALWAYS have to get their fries. Even if you get a salad get the fries. Anyway he said it was great and he misses living here because he misses eating at PMS. I like my roast beef pink. I always ask before I get any of the roast beef just to see if it is what I prefer. But when it is. Oh baby!!!!! The TomCat Pinini is great. Ooo!!! Also the Big and Beefy. Just talking about it is making me hungry. They make every item to order. So give them a minute or 2 because they are making it fresh.

I live pretty close to PMS Deli and have heard nothing but great things about it so I finally decided to stop in and try it out for lunch. I was immediately greeted as soon as I walked in and was shown some of the items on the menu, which was really nice. After looking over the menu, I decided on the Reuben Sandwich and the Corn & Crab Chowder, which was the Soup of the Day. I also grabbed a Chocolate Chunk Cookie because I just couldn't resist lol. As I waited for my food, I was actually shocked with how spacious the dining area was and how packed the place was on a Friday afternoon. Once I grabbed my food and headed home, I tried the Corn & Crab Chowder and OMG, it was absolutely delicious. I had to add a sprinkle of salt to it but the flavors were amazing! I immediately wanted to go the next day to get another cup lol. The sandwich was also just as great. The rye bread was buttery and the corned beef mixed with the sauerkraut tasted very good. The cookie was just as delicious. It tasted very homemade and it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, I will be returning back ASAP! I love their extensive menu of sandwiches, soups and salads and the customer service is just wonderful.

This has been opened for a long time and I passed by every time looking at it and deciding if I should go in and I keep reading reviews every month. So I finally decided to go and get some subs. Parking was no problem Inside it was clean and spacious inside. I went in but there was no good morning thought that was fine. I looked at the menu even though I already know what I wanted to order. I ordered up front and got Hero Sub and a Philly Cheesesteak sub 8 inch is no problem both with a side of crinkle cut fries. After I ordered to go I sat at the table to wait till they are done with my order. It was 9am and so only one table of customers. It was nice the cashier was nice. Service was nice. The hero sub was good as well as the cheesesteak, but I did not think the bread is so thin. The fries were crispy. I would come back to try the other items on the menu.

Whew! I made a Facebook post listing 4 major sub/sandwich chains in the 757, asking opinions for which one people loved most. I'd never heard of this place but MULTIPLE people wrote this place in and told me I hadn't lived until I tried them. Well today was the day! Not only was their oriental salad (add blackened chicken) fresh, delicious, and AMPLE, their Brunswick stew was soooo hearty. I wished I would've ordered TWO! I was also impressed with the smart packing; everything fit snugly in the bag with 0 chance of a spill. Now that I'm working back in the building not too far from PMS, I can see no they're going to be a staple for me. A total BB Referral!!

    Blood on wrappers, unsanitary.

BLOOD located on sub wrapping of my turkey sub inside and outside of the paper in a lot of areas. This is extremely unsanitary and disgusting of this business. I spoke to the owner regarding this huge issue and maybe someone got a paper cut but they need to be vigilant on sanitation, bandages, and NOT to carry their dna and blood onto Customers food wrappings as this could be a lawsuit for contamination or negligence. Cleanliness and sanitation was concerning.

Don't let the name fool you. Yeah, I didn't know if I would leave angry or what. I guess the only reason why I'm angry is because I didn't get some sweet treats to take home! They definitely looked homemade and good. I ended up eating the tiny little biscuit breakfast which was pretty good. You can choose between ham sausage or bacon. It was surprisingly more filling than it looks. I was still that area around lunch time so I had the hero sandwich. They have Panini's but quite frankly, I don't really like Panini's. So I went with the regular sandwich. I thought the bread was a little dry but then, I know if I had asked for more oil and vinegar, it would have ended up too soggy. So it was very good! I probably should have asked for a little something for the bread but that's just me. The flavor was perfect! It wasn't over stuffed where everything was falling out. It was just really good. Everything tasted really fresh and made that day. And I really like the potato salad. Definitely a nice place to go. Huge sitting area. Bring some friends. Sit by yourself! You're not going to go wrong either way. Bathroom was nice and clean. Looks like you can get points if you give them your cell phone number. Definitely takes credit. If you're in the area, stop by! You're not going to be disappointed in these sandwiches. Not to mention they have wraps or soup. And salad! And a kid's menu! Can't forget the kids menu!

My friend and I decided to meet up here after I took my final at TCC. I've driven past this a few times and seen many great reviews! It turned out to be the right choice. I enjoyed pretty much everything about this place. It is a really comfortable and welcoming place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! You can order a plethora of breakfast sandwiches, wraps, bowls and bagels - and for lunch and dinner, burgers, hotdogs, pizza, and salads, in addition to lunch wraps and sandwiches. So, anyways, we stopped in and were welcomed by the staff immediately. The deli is very spacious with lots of seating. There's even a PMS shop inside with tee shirts, sauces, and homemade chips, and more (I'm sure they rotate). There is a refreshment area with teas, soda, and a bunch of different condiments, which I loved. The lady who took my order was very nice and efficient. I went for a caprese panini with avocado as a combo with fries and a drink. My friend got a mediterranean panini with a drink. Our order was brought to us fairly quickly by a kind, conversational older woman. My panini was yummy - I wish that the insides were warmed better, but the bread they used was great and the ingredients were definitely fresh. It was more of just a toasted sandwich. My fries were crispy and hot, and I dipped them in the various sauces offered. My friend wolfed down his Mediterranean panini with no complaints. Overall, quite happy with this deli!! I'm looking forward to trying their other items - there's so much to choose from. I'll definitely stop by here again for my summer semester - it's pretty close to TCC which works out!

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

HISTORY ON AN ONION ROLL | THE EYE OPENER CONTINUES TO TEMPT TASTEBUDS, DECADES LATER…read more By Patrick Evans-Hylton For decades, the Belvedere Hotel was more than a place to stay. It was a familiar presence along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, a backdrop for everyday rituals and seaside routines. Tucked inside was the Belvedere Coffee Shop & Diner, a true neighborhood constant since opening in 1969. It was where mornings began with hot coffee and friendly nods, where breakfast and lunch meant dependable comfort, and where the pace of the beach slowed just enough to savor it. When the Belvedere was torn down, it felt like losing a quietly important piece of the Oceanfront's collective memory. That sense of memory carries forward at Belvedere South inside the tony Moxy Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotel. The new space honors the past without freezing it in time. Bright blue walls set against crisp white instantly recall the diner's cheerful spirit. Large windows allow light to flood the space. Cushy banquettes are a comfortable welcome, inviting you to settle in and linger. The menu stays true to its roots with classic breakfast and lunch dishes that feel familiar and reassuring. Anchoring it all is the legendary Eye Opener sandwich, returned to its rightful place as both signature and symbol. In this new setting, the Belvedere legacy lives on, refreshed but recognizable, a reminder that some traditions deserve to be carried forward with care and confidence. The Eye Opener remains the heart of the menu, and one bite explains its legend. A perfectly fried egg anchors the sandwich, its yolk just rich enough to soften the layers beneath. From a choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, we chose the latter; each brings its own salty, savory character. Melted cheese binds everything together, draping the egg and meat in comfort. All of it is tucked into a lightly toasted onion roll that adds a gentle sweetness and just enough bite to stand up to the fillings. Chef Ray Ray Labuen, who wore the tall toque at the former Belvedere, is closely tied to the Eye Opener its careful steward. Then there are the tomatoes, the detail that elevates the whole affair. Thick slices are grilled, seasoned lightly, and finished with a generous snowfall of parmesan cheese. As they cook, the tomatoes soften and turn luscious while the cheese melts and lightly browns, creating a savory crust that clings to the fruit. They are warm, juicy, and deeply flavorful, adding richness and balance to the sandwich. It is indulgent without being heavy, familiar yet special, and exactly the kind of dish that earns its name at the Oceanfront. We also enjoyed rich, creamy grits and a damn fine cup of coffee. Service was exceptional. - I've been covering the cuisine scene in Coastal Virginia and beyond for 30-plus years, and have dined out at thousands and thousands times. I base my scores on the SAVORY system, which attributes values to six distinct attributes: Service, Ambiance, Value, Offerings, Repeatability, and Sensory Experience. That translates to 1 star = 59 or below ; 2 stars = 60 - 69 ; 3 stars = 70-79 ; 4 stars = 80-89 ; and 5 stars = 90 or above. Based on that, this restaurant receives my 5 star rating. This is based on a visit on Jan. 7, 2026 - I'm a Johnson & Wales-trained chef reporting on food and foodways in print (magazines, The Virginian-Pilot), television (morning shows, Food Network, WTKR TV-3), radio (PBS, AM 790 WNIS), and more. They've made some updates since my last review. I noticed they swapped out the bar stools for what seem to be a bit more accommodating in style. I believe they have a cornhole section and from what I could tell, an area that could be really fun during the warmer months. The overall vibe is so quirky, cool, different, and I just love how it's decorated. The other locations have the same sort of intrigue but in much different ways. I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Another positive is the food quantity, quality, and price for what you are getting. Sure, almost every food establishment had to raise their price, but Bay Local seem to be very reasonable, ESPECIALLY for what you get. I know several other places that have good food, but you are paying several dollars more for what Bay Local offers that is similar (in some cases) but not slacking on portion control and quality. That is huge! Bay Local is a "well-oiled machine" with management, staff, and operations (not their first rodeo). The staff are attentive, friendly, fast in service, including fixing anything that may not have been correct, and still hold the quality of what they offer. This location does have tight parking and because the location is a little small, accommodating large groups seemed to be possible but with a wait & a little tricky. They are located behind the Panera Bread and can be seen from Upton Dr. My most recent visit here was on January 18, 2026. From the outside, you can see the sign for the business on the side and out front. There is some limited outdoor seating as well. With other businesses along that stretch and such, parking can be limited during peak times. I can attest to that as parking was limited when I came on January 16, 2026 (this wasn't an issue on the most recent visit). The reason for two visits pretty close together was because this was during Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. The visit on January 16, 2026 was for dinner and the visit on January 18, 2026 was for breakfast. Starting with the dinner visit on January 16, 2025, it was already pretty busy in there as there was a large party event going on with half of the seating area. This probably explains why parking was limited that evening. Even though that was the case, we were immediately greeted and able to be seated. It wasn't long before our server Megan came to the table. She asked us what we wanted to drink. I went with water with lemon and mom got a coke. It would take us a bit of time to choose what we wanted. I ended up going with the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer and Fried Shrimp Platter for the entree. My mom went with the Corn Chowder appetizer and Crab Cake Dinner as the entree. After about five minutes, the appetizers came out to the table. The Firecracker Shrimp were very tasty and flavorful. My mom loved the Corn Chowder that she ordered. About ten minutes after that, the entrees came to the table. Both foods looked good and they were hot as expected. I really liked the fried shrimp as it wasn't overly breaded either. It had a great taste. The fries were good too, and they were like an indulgence for me. The coleslaw was good too. My mom liked the Crab Cake Dinner that she had. The last part was the dessert. I knew this would spike my blood sugars, but I went with the Peanut Butter Pie, and my mom went with the Oreo Outlaw dessert. It didn't take long for those to come out, and that was the ultimate indulgence to finish off the evening. The second visit during the morning on January 18, 2026 for the Breakfast/Lunch version of their restaurant week menu. This was the first time I had been here for breakfast. We had the same server we had a few days before at the dinner version. On this visit, for the appetizer, I decided to try the Risotto Bites and my mom had the Corn Chowder again. For the entree, we both did the Classic French Toast, though I did mine with bacon, and my mom did hers with Edwards Sausage. The Risotto Bites were really good and had a nice flavor to them. The Classic French Toast was a great indulgence for me too. It was soft and hot. The bacon was great too. Overall, I have had some great experiences here recently. The food and service are top notch. There is ample seating inside, and there is some limited outdoor seating. They have daily food specials during the week too. This is definitely a locally owned place to check out for any meal of the day.

My daughter ordered the smothered chicken and biscuits, butter biscuits topped with cheesy eggs, fried chicken, and cajun cream sauce. The picture below may not look the most appetizing, but don't let that fool you because this dish was packed with flavor! The only downside was the eggs were a bit overcooked. My daughter is picky about eggs, so next time she said she'll ask for them lightly scrambled or over medium. Now let's talk about the drinks lol. I love a good hot cup of coffee and they did NOT miss with the coffee. Smooth, hot, and flavorful. My daughter also said the sweet tea was really good. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for that Biscoff waffle alone!
