Met up with a friend from back in the day and this was where we landed. My friend group knows how seriously I take my food so when they recommend something I'm never disappointed! Cutting Edge is another win! It's a small comfortable space, feels like a casual break from whatever you might be into on a given day. Everything is made to order which is nice. The flavors were fresh and the menu is eclectic. You can tell that thought goes into the menu offerings because the flavor combinations aren't basic or boring. I had a cheeseburger which was juicy and fresh, sweet potato fries which were very good, and the farro goat cheese salad. Everything was fresh, seasoned well and tasted great. Came to visit family during the Thanksgiving break and found this gem. Wow! We were blown away. Food was delicious and the staff was amazing! They explained everything to us (because we were overwhelmed by the delicious menu) and we even saw them give samples of soup out to ppl that were curious about it. All in all a great spot with incredible food! I ordered the Chopped cheese and I'm very particular about it because I was born in the place that chopped cheese was invented.. I was blown away! Can't believe it's been about 5 years since I've been here. It was a Monday afternoon, my son and I came here for lunch to take back home. They were pretty busy and had several people waiting for pickup orders as well. I ordered their salmon mango salad and my son had the kids grilled cheese and fruit. A 15-20 minute wait turned into almost 30. We weren't in a rush so no worries. The salad was delicious. The dressing was yummy. My son's grilled cheese had very little cheese but was okay. I like seeing fruit cups not the typical canned fruit cocktail so I was impressed with this. I'll definitely come back soon! read more

This place is delicious! My husband recommended it to me after having lunch here during the work week. It's a cute little lunch spot in the Greenbriar area. Everything is super fresh and well made! I had the sesame chicken salad. It was perfect for lunch. Grilled chicken over mixed greens with ground peanuts, pickled carrots and cucumbers and peanut dressing. I cleaned the plate! We also got the grilled cheese with goat cheese, Swiss, caramelized onions and a berry jam, and we added bacon to it. I will definitely be back. The sweet potato fries were perfect and we got a side of ranch to dip in. The ranch is excellent and home made! They said they make everything there. So tasty and healthy! Food- my farro and goat cheese salad (add salmon) was the best I've ever had! My friends got a caprese panini and grilled cheese with jam were tasty too. We also got hummus and pita and sweet potato fries. We all were content with the portion sizes but not overwhelmed, which was nice. Service- the lady at the front desk was super personable and knowledgeable about the menu. Pleasant on the phone and in person. Giving each person special treatment. Wow! Pleasant surprise at The Cutting Edge Cafe. I was headed to Tropical Smoothie, but decided on the whim to check out this place next door which is the Cutting Edge. The Jam grilled cheese was the most delicious sandwich I've had lately! And the tomato basil soup is chefs kiss! Staff is super friendly. I do wonder if they really do survive on only having 1 chef. He did a good job, and I was impressed, but it was a longer wait for my sandwich and soup. So next time I visit I'll make sure I'm not in a rush or on work lunch. Place is organized and nice . Cutting Edge was recommended to us by the chef and owner of LeGrand Kitchen, so I knew it would be good. Finding a good time to get myself over to Chesapeake on a Friday for their burger special was another story. We finally made the time and I am so glad we did! This is one of my new favorite burgers in the entire area. Incredibly flavorful, with each component really holding its own and combining in the most wonderful way. They were also running a salmon burger special which was equally as delicious! Sweet Potato Fries are not my typical go to, but theirs are better than any I've had anywhere else. Soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, and seasoned to perfection with almost a hint of a smokey barbecue flavor? The prices at this lunch spot are also hard to beat. Okay, it has been a LONG time since I visited the Cutting Edge. I used to be down in this area a lot at one of the medical facilities nearby, and eating lunch here was always a bright spot in my (markedly stressful at the time) treatments. My dad was in town this past weekend and was headed to the Outer Banks, so when I plotted the map of in-betweens for us to meet for brunch, this place popped up and I thought, I have GOT to see if it's still as good as I remember. Short answer: Yes. It's still amazing. We rolled in at 10:30 right when they opened - food was excellent. Everyone in our party raved about it. I got those sweet potato fries and they are STILL the best ones I've had in the area! I got the grilled cheese and apple with bacon panini and it was awesome. Three cheers all around for this place - service is great, plenty of seating and a nice environment. Why you would go to Panera when this place is an option, I have no idea. Check it! read more

Late November weather, low gray clouds, misting rain, and leaves falling. This was perfect weather for my lunch today. The Cutting Edge gave me something I haven't had since childhood. Apparently I may of not been alone in that feeling. Well who's to really say what the others were feeling other then hunger. Either way, it was my first time here and it did not disappoint. I arrived around noon. The line was out the door. It moved quickly and I ordered the special of the day; Chicken and Dumplings. I made my way and bellied up to the counter and made myself comfortable. One young cheerful and very busy young lady at the register was also helping to serve. Three men cooking and preparing dishes just beyond my reach. It was an orchestra of dining experience. As I sat there, the restaurant filled up. Almost every seat taken. I waited patiently while observing the quartet handle everything smoothly. When the bowl was brought in front of me, I knew this was going to be good. The way it looked and smelled was wonderful. It tasted even better. My tastebuds were doing a happy dance. The dumplings reminded me of my Grandma's. Great texture, taste and chew. There was no shortage of dumplings or chicken and those were complimented with a carrots, onions and celery and topped with what I believe to be some of the skin from the chicken fried and tasty little treat. For the first time since the middle of March, I went to work physically today, even though it will be once a week until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the co-workers asked if folks would like to go to lunch. Knowing I haven't dined in at a restaurant since March, I was kind of hesitant since I have pre-existing conditions. So hesitantly, I said yes since none of us brought any lunch (we can't use the fridge at work unfortunately). I ordered the grilled cheese and jam which consists of goat cheese, Swiss, cheddar, caramelized onions and jam (minus the cheddar for me since I'm not into yellow cheese on sandwiches) and for the side I picked sweet potato fries. One word: delicious!!! The panini was grilled very well and the cheese.....melted to perfection. Caramelized onions added a nice flavor and the jam....not sure what flavor it was but man oh man was it really good. The sweet potato fries.....I don't know what seasoning they used, but this was probably the best set of fries I've had in some time. They were so delicious I even started to eat some of the seasonings off my plate. Overall, a nice time with co-workers in a environment that was very safe (the employees wore masks and tables were spaced out appropriately) and enjoying very good food. Pricey but it's the price you pay for the quality of the food (certainly not quantity). We ordered the avocado club sandwich with a side of cucumber tomato salad and the falafel salad with a side of tomato basil soup. Right off the bat, everything looked fabulously fresh and appetizing! The tomato basil soup was perfect. The avocado club was good but it was missing *something*...whether it was that it needed another dressing/condiment on there or something, but we ended up dipping the sandwich into the soup with each bite and that seemed to do the trick. The cucumber tomato salad was fresh and well portioned with minimal added flavoring which paired well with the avocado club. Now, the falafel salad left me a little bummed that I didn't order something else. Right from when the waitress put it down, I noticed it comes with just three little falafel balls and was rather disappointed. I felt like I had to cut up each ball and ration it out to get some in every other bite or so. The greens were fresh but with the scant amount of tzatziki dressing over it all, many of those falafel-less bites were also missing any dressing. Won't be ordering that one again if we are to return. All together, the bill came out to about $26 for two lunch entrees and cups of free water. Whew, Chile! The Cutting Edge Café is life, do you hear me!? It is so good that I have been for lunch back to back for the past three days straight. I have not experienced better paninis in my life. On my first visit, I got the chicken avocado club with a side of hummus, on my second visit, I got the chicken thigh special on potato bread with a side salad, and on my third visit, I got the wasabi braised beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. Each and every day the food was hot, fresh, and delicious; furthermore, there was not one menu item I did not like. There is no wrong decision here when it comes to picking a meal. Service is very diligent and friendly. It stays packed for lunch but doesn't let that deter you, you will get your food in no time and with a smile. All in all, more people need to know about The Cutting Edge Café, and I'm kicking myself for not having getting down here sooner. read more
