The market has a variety of Taste products to choose from, too. The heated house roasted chicken breast on The Lynnhaven signature sandwich is one of our favorites. But, I chose to sub out the pimento cheese with provolone cheese and found the sandwich to be warm and delicious. The cleanliness of this Taste location is a bonus. I accidentally ordered from the Newport News Taste when I meant to order from this Chesapeake location. I showed up at Taste Chesapeake and after waiting a while, realized my mistake. The signature yellow stripped bags and delicious sandwiches are the same. I was starving so I got the Brunswick stew and the 2 ham sandwiches on sweet potato biscuits. This was along with the Italian sandwich. I did share half my Italian for half of my friend's Virginian sandwich. Not going to lie- with the exception of one of the sweet potato biscuits, I ate everything. I washed it all down with the cane sugared soda. I normally drink diet, but not today. Not today. It's been a long, hot minute before I last time I've eaten here at Taste! I'm so glad that I rediscovered this place for a fresh meal and different options. Staff wise, I could really say they have friendly personalities and they take care of their customers. They have a new menu item which is the roasted shrimp wrap! It comes with pineapple salsa, and two other sauces. Really good. I also got my favorite chips which are the Route 11 Dill Pickle chips and an apricot iced tea (unsweetened). The atmosphere is like Fresh Market mixed with a seating area. I love the artwork presented, in which you could buy them. This is such a convenient Taste. This is close to my nieces ice skating lessons. We just pop over and grab some lunch. IT is not the best Taste. My favorite is Hilltop and the one on shore drive. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Bayville Farms and Northender sandwiches. Bayville is a roast beef sandwich with a homemade taste sauce. The Northender is a turkey sandwich with avocado, smoked bacon, Havarti, avocado, romaine, tomato, and basil mayo. The French bread is fresh. The first thing I noticed are the two exterior dining areas. Each boasting 6-7 tables. Most are covered. Restaurant has at least 3 sets of double doors. Because of the direction I came from I was confused how to enter. I walked through the patio area to the first door I saw and found myself in the store area, face to face with shelves etc. it is best to enter through the middle doors under the TASTE sign. BOYLAN fountain soda machine has been here about a month. Soda made with cane sugar. No coke or Pepsi machine here! Good for you TASTE!! They have received several complaints. I suppose this is understandable because this is not what people are accustomed to. $2.45 for the fountain soda. Bottles are $1.99 on the store side. I usually only order water, but I'm trying the Black Cherry for you! I also sampled the cream soda. Yummy! And better for your tummy. My order was ready by the time I selected and filled my drink so service was relatively quick. Not super busy 1:30 pm on a workday. Fewer than 10 customers diamond outside. The Taste Restaurant at Greenbrier should be ashamed of themselves for charging me $28.87 for a Crab Salad Wrap, a Pungo BBQ sandwich, and a fountain drink. I don't mind spending for quality but what we received was far from it. While in line my wife and I were considering Tropical Smoothie. We should have gone with our gut because I could not have been more disappointed. On the plus side of things the ambiance was top notch and the service was better than average but I was actually angry when I got home and opened my bag to see a BBQ Sandwich that was about the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger, if not a bit smaller. The sandwich on the digital menu didn't resemble the one that was prepared for me. I don't plan on spending any more of my hard earned money at this overpriced establishment there are certainty other places where I can get better quality for a much more affordable price. read more

Taste is my go-to for soups and sandwiches! The Lynnhaven is my favorite. I used to frequent the Norfolk location and was stoked when I started a new job and found out there was one right by my job! It is a very relaxing place for a quick bite. Everything is always fresh with quality ingredients. I love how they switch up the soups daily. They also serve beer and wine which is always a plus (not during work hours of course!) Usually my girlfriends and I will go and get a wine flight. Such good quality wines for the price. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! I had about an hour to kill, so I stopped in for lunch. When I walked in, I was a bit overwhelmed because there was no line and the menu was huge. The staff offered me a paper copy so I sat at a counter seat for a few to look it over. The variety of choices is insane--what a way to make a repeat customer out of me, because there were so many things I wanted to try! I chose to create my own salad with a base of spinach and arugula. Plenty of topping options and a reasonable price for what you get. I asked for it to be chopped, which was the right decision because the flavors blended together nicely. I asked for the dressing to be mixed into it but I got it on the side, no big deal. The peanut vinaigrette was bursting with flavor--I'll definitely get it again next time. The selection of snacks, drinks, grab-and-go items, and gifts is also vast. It was nice to shop around for a few as I waited for my food. The seating area is bright and comfortable; I was able to grab a spot at a high-top and read a book for a little while as I ate. I will be back soon to get some work done, but it doesn't seem like a place to camp out at for too long and it's a little loud for a comfy work environment. They're always updating their menus based on the season which is cool but I also experienced my favorite sandwiches or salad drop from their menu. When I first saw the reviews, I thought this place was a little corner deli store but it is anything but that. They have a pretty extensive menu with sandwiches, wraps and salads, AND beer and wine too! I was pleasantly surprised that they have outside seating because I LOVE eating outside. They do have ample seating inside though if the weather isn't good. There is a nice section that sells different products similar to a country store would (like different nuts and jams, etc.) but more elevated. And they also sell beer and wine in the refrigerator section, or you can order it at the tap. I didn't see anybody order any alcohol though, but that may be because it was a Thursday during lunch when I was there. I got the Hilltop sandwich and made it a meal and include a drink and chips. The Chesapeake Crab chips are really good so I suggest getting those. Also, if you get iced tea, make sure you put a TON of ice in your cup because it seems like they don't pre-ice it. You just place your order and they give you number so you can sit down and then they bring it out to you; surprisingly efficient system. Everybody that I saw eating finished their entire meal so it seems like everything on the menu is good. Portion sizes are perfect for lunch, but if you've got a HUGE appetite, you may need a little something extra. This place is quite unique in the fact that it's general location is somewhat "hidden" from the busier areas of Greenbriar. However, when you manage to find it, I'm sure you'll notice the bit TASTE sign in front of the facility. Not "Taste unlimited" but just TASTE. Just like the idea of googling, I'm sure the idea was to create a verb for the whole "vibe" of eating here. First off, the facility. It's a cheese/wine marketplace combined with places to sit in between. It has a real rustic feel to it coupled with miscellaneous art on the walls that are for sale. Very simplistic yet at times (lunch in particular) can get quite loud since the walls just echo all the noise. However, as a lunch date or business lunch, this place is perfect. The open atmosphere keeps things simple and not "over the top" Next up is the menu. The menu is fairly simple - with vegetarian options to boot. This (of course) is always the kicker for my reviews. If my wife has to do significant "modifications" to the food, then it's not really aimable for her. The vegetarian options are quite astounding. Since TASTE emphasizes on sandwiches and lighter fare - this gives them a lot of flexibility on creating entrees to satisfy the vegetarian lifestyle. As for myself, I was able to order a nice healthy turkey sandwich that wasn't sickly filling and was very fresh. They were a bit light on the dressing and would've preferred a little bit more but overall simple and effective. Take note that when you look at the menu, everything is ala carte. So if you want chips to go with your sandwich, order away. There are beer/wine selections to the right when you enter the facility. Take a moment to browse these as they seem to highlight a lot of local breweries and wineries. I found the Alewerks beer from Williamsburg and was very delighted on how glorious the beer I had was. I plan to visit there sometime soon. =) The staff here must be told to highlight customer service. There wasn't a single person on staff who wasn't eager to help or rather polite. It's this type of service that makes many want to come back. Overall, this is definitely a simplistic favorite where the food and service shine. The only recommendation I would ever give would be to potentially add some decorative sound deadening walls to help eliminate how loud this place can get during the busier hours. read more
