I get it! I just get it! It is AMAZING!!!! Hands down my favorite spot for sweets! I suggest filling them on their social media outlets to find out when they are opening. I got in kind an hour before they opened and I was 10th in line. They limit how much you can get so that everyone has a chance to get their hands on goodies. Which I love that they do that! The pricing is so reasonable. My favorite was all their cookies. I have a fellow friend mention get a s'mores cookie... you bet I did follow through on that all their cookies were moist and flavorful! This was my first time having anything Ube, and I am hooked. I love going outside my comfort zone and experiencing other cultures. The owner is seriously amazing! So awesome! GO! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Got my pre order Valentine's day treats!

Follow them on their instagram for special orders that sell out in 10 mins!!! Ordered the Valentine's day "love" box. I am currently devouring their goodies on the way to lunch lol. Located in Selden Market. Now with their regular pop ups.. highly recommend you go early. They sell out out. I repeat sell out FAST! Husband and wife duo that are so down to earth! Support them and their yummy business!

Ube-by baby! I've loved this place since the start and I can say that my love for JackEats deliciousness has grown exponentially. They're always creating new menu items and each of them hit the tastebuds at just the right spot. My favorite items our her original brioche donuts and the brown sugar boba pudding. You can't go wrong with the classic ube boo die either! Every time they have a pop-up at Selden Market, I make sure to come by! You can check their Instagram for pop-up dates and other information about their featured menu. She also does custom orders too. Word to the wise, arrive before the starting time because there WILL be a line. But it's absolutely worth it. You'll love it, I promise!

I was one of the two lucky winners who won the brioche donuts. Three ube and three buko pandan custard donuts. They were freshly made and smelled great! I picked up the donuts and couldn't wait any longer to try one. So I pulled over (so I could fully enjoy) to take a bite and satisfy my craving. Next thing I knew, I had finished the whole ube donut. The Buko Pandan is just as good and a must try! I'm definitely addicted and can't wait to try everything else she makes. Thanks again Jewels!

Since June, my girlfriend and I have been going to Selden Market to mostly check out S'mores Amore which we have become huge fans of. We also checked out Side Thru #FAM once (hope to order from them again soon). Just about a month ago, I saw a review from a friend on Yelp about this place which serves Filipino treats. They have been absent from Selden Market for 5 months due to the COVID pandemic. Once I checked them out, I couldn't help but notice the rave reviews praising the desserts that were created. Over the weekend, they scheduled a reopening. So what does a couple in Hampton Roads with nothing scheduled on a Saturday do? From the advice of a fellow Yelper (thanks for the tip Anne), we managed to get there early around 11:45am for their 12:30 reopening. We were third in line which guaranteed our shot of buying some goodies. By the time they started serving customers, the line was all the way to the Selden Market entrance extending to the right side. Once you put the word out on social media you're reopening, they will show up. Even passers-by were wondering why the line was so long. After asking some questions about some of the desserts, we managed to come out with an Ube Fatty cookie, a regular Fatty cookie, two Buko Pandan cookies (one for the girlfriend also) and an Ube Crack Blondie. Here are the results: -Ube Fatty cookie. All I gotta say is this cookie was one of the best I've ever eaten. From having white chocolate chips (I'm a sucker for white chocolate) to an Ube spread in the middle......gamechanger indeed. (Tip: warm up your cookie for 10-15 seconds to have the spread ooze out while breaking it in the middle. I didn't warm mine up, but it was very soft and flavorful.) -Regular Fatty cookie. Full of chocolate (4 types) and a nice cookie butter spread in the middle. I did follow the 10-15 second warmup tip and the spread was wonderful. I prefer the Ube cookie over this one, but definitely a repeat. -Buko Pandan cookie. Very surprised with this one. I'm not a big fan of shredded coconut (don't ask me to eat a German Chocolate cake or a white coconut cake), but I dig it. Not overly sweet and nice texture of the cookie as a whole. -Ube Crack Blondie. Very good stuff. This is my 2nd time eating Ube flavor (S'mores Amore was the first with their Ube treat). Not too sweet, full of flavor and loved the crust on top. Definitely like a brownie but in the texture of a blondie. All in all, a wonderful experience. I was very impressed with all the treats they offered. It was well worth it making the drive from Newport News to stand in line for nearly an hour to taste local flavor.....and one that's very rewarding. Keep it up guys!! We will definitely check y'all out again soon!!

Seriously, this brand needs a bigger place and more inventory. As of right now, they are a pop up store every Saturday at Selden Market that seems to sell out of their purple crack every day. I wish they were a standalone shop but it is better than nothing. The main attraction to this place is the popular Filipino dessert, Ube. However, they often incorporate other delicious Filipino desserts into their offerings. Make sure to come early to make sure there is still inventory left as there can be a line as well. We ordered the Ube donuts, Ube mini cake, buko pandan turnovers, and other Ube goodness. It is worth the wait for their desserts because you cannot find anything like this anywhere else. My favorite so far is the Ube donuts but I am always on the lookout for new items via their Instagram. Make sure to follow them on social media to be aware of yummy Ube and Filipino desserts creations and concoctions. Support small businesses and get your Ube cravings with Jack Eats!

Established in 2017, Jack Eats is a Filipino inspired pop-up bakery that has become most well known for specializing in desserts made with Ube, a purple yam vegetable that is indigenous to the Phillipines. Jack Eats is owned and operated by a husband and wife team whose names are Julienne ("Jools") and Justin Gilbo. Jools is their supremely talented and friendly baker, while Justin is her backbone of support, providing her with tons of inspiration and serving as the main taste tester for her creations. They launched their first pop-up at the Nomarama Munchie Market event held last May in Norfolk's Chelsea Business District. They have since moved their pop-up home to the Selden Market in downtown Norfolk with Saturday appearances at their kiosk. Their Saturday pop-ups in the Selden Market started sporadically last November and have most recently been appearing on a regular basis During my last visit, Jools told me they are planning to be there every Saturday and also hoping to schedule some Sunday pop-ups as well. She also informed me that their original plans to relocate to Granby Station have been discontinued for the time being. Based upon my personal observations, they are doing just fine and thriving at their current Selden Market home. Their Instagram page is my primary source of information for finding the details of their pop-up appearances, including dates, hours, and the specific desserts that are being served on their rotating menu. During each of my visits, a long line of eager customers has been found waiting in front of their kiosk, even before they have opened. During my visit last Saturday, a line had already started forming about a half-hour before their 10 am opening. Special advance orders are also provided. During my most recent visit, one gentleman left with a huge and beautifully decorated cake he had ordered to pick up. It was topped with an eye dazzling ube frosting, and I wish I had stopped him to take a photo. I have only tried a small sampling of their creations to date, all of which are described below. Each one blew me away, sending my taste buds soaring to where they had never gone before. UBE CRACK BLONDIE: This one is a dense and decadently delicious brownie like dessert. It is made with homemade ube butter jam and an ube cream topping that is drizzled with a white chocolate ganache. I've enjoyed this one twice to date and will surely order it again. My Rating: 5 Stars. UBE CREME BRULEE: Served in a small foil container, an eye dazzling, rich, and creamy ube custard lies underneath its delicately torched crust surface. This one truly packs a compact powerhouse punch of flavor. After only taking one bite, I was hooked and practically inhaled the rest. My Rating: 5 Stars. BUKO PANDAN CRINKLE: This is a popular Filipino dessert cookie made with buko, which is a young coconut, and pandan leaves, which come from pandas, a tropical fruit grown in Asia with a flavor resembling vanilla with a sweet taste and mild aroma. The cookie strikes a perfect textural balance with its firm crinkly edges and soft interiors. Its greenish tones present a visual treat, exceeded only by its profoundly unique flavor. My Rating: 5 Stars. BRIOCHE DONUTS WITH UBE CUSTARD: These donuts exhibit a heavenly soft and pillowy texture, richly filled and oozing with their delicious purple ube goodness. I have never been much of a fan of donuts in general, but these were a game changer. Due to their high demand, these are limited to two per customer. My Rating: 5 Stars. UBE BRAZO CHEESECAKE: This one is packed with layers of ube meringue, coconut custard, and ube cheesecake in an ube blondie crust. This is the most memorable and uniquely flavorful cheesecake I've enjoyed in many years. My Rating: 5 Stars. This might be the first time I've ever given each food item in a review of any type of eatery a 5-Star rating. I tried in vain to find something to nitpick, but was unable to do so. Everything I tried exceeded my expectations and blew me away. I am looking forward to my future visits and enjoying some of the many other delectable creations they offer that I have yet to try. In the meantime, this review comes with a rousing and well deserved slam dunk 5-Star rating.

Oh Gawd. I swear. Jack Eats is my weakness. Every time they post something new on IG, I legit want to reach into my phone and just taste it. Everything is wallpaper worthy. I hate to admit that I have yet to catch them (fully stocked) at Norfolk's Selden Market but hopefully that'll change sooner than later! I also hate to admit I haven't tried their donuts yet but like I said, das gone change soon!!! There's nothing like them in the area. Unique twists on popular Filipino desserts and especially the Ube flavor, which is what they're known for. Ube errythang is the jam. I was one of the lucky ones to first try their now famous Ube Brazo Cheesecake and I felt like I won the lottery that day. Only a foodie would understand, right, Yelpers?? It's not only delicious, it's so photogenic. Soo beautiful inside and out! Everything from presentation to taste is absolute perfection. Can't recommend them enough.

The very first time eating ube was at a yelp elite event where Jack Eats was one of the featured vendors. Others were there, but jack eats stood out! I had to come and visit them at the Selden Market because I needed my husband to get in on the flavor too. The owners are friendly and passionate about what they do. I really appreciate the real ube flavor you get in every bite. I am a huuuuuge fan of their ube creme brûlée and also their ube crack blondie. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of their foods and desserts. They always keep updates on Instagram their whereabouts and times. After having their treats i have gone other places hoping to satisfy my ube craving but none compare to Jack Eats!

This place is live on a Saturday morning! Probably because it's the only day they're here. By the time they opened up shop (around 11:10am today), they had about 4 or 5 ppl lined up waiting. The line moved quickly and everyone got their sweet fix. The guy, assuming he's Jack, was very friendly and took the time to explain his desserts. I ended up with an ube blondie and the ube cake with layers. The blondie was nice. It has a hint of ube, but it wasn't overly sweet. I always expect these things to be super sweet, but I can eat this without going into shock. The layered ube cake had a blondie on the bottom, cheesecake layer, coconut layer, and an ube meringue. It was a good cake, but I think I prefer to eat it in its individual layers. Together, I dont think it melds perfectly... But to each their own! I would buy it again and continue to eat it in layers.

Jack Eats is a cute and quaint food stand in Selden Market! I love ube and am a big fan of it! Their ube brownies were good, I definitely came in with very high hopes which in turn, led me to me being a little disappointed with them. The brownie was drier than I was hoping, but the flavor was there! However? Their chocolate chip cookie is amazing! It was the perfect amount of thick and flavorful. I'd still return, as the treats were delicious.

Pop up spot in downtown Norfolk - sampled their Ube & Pandan cookies, and their Ube blondie. So yummy & wish I was able to get more to take home! Loved all the flavors - if I ever get to go back, I'm going to need to try their donuts

Best Filipino desserts in the Norfolk/VB area! Majority of their dessert is ube flavored which they specialize in and it's the bomb! If ur Filipino u already know what I'm talking about lol it's a good thing this place only open twice a month because my money will be going there every week lol I'm so glad to have found this place. My favorite dessert from them is their Ube blondie and their fatty cookie!!!

It was chocolate something but the flavor was just weird, texture was not great either. They gave me a complimentary small piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream as well for my birthday, but that was not good either. Cake was dry and ice cream tasted watery and the texture was off. This was disappointing because I love dessert, but probably wouldn't risk ordering it here again.
