Loved this quaint shop for take out donuts. They had a great selection and were quick to provide service. When I walked in, there were several people ahead of us, but the line moved quickly. Menu prices were reasonable and I ended up getting a mix of types of donuts for my office. They offered a military discount as well. The parking isn't the best but I did park and Dumars parking lot and since they weren't open yet and I was in and out I felt like it was OK. It is definitely a place where you need to pick up and go. The inside doesn't really offer much for seating. I didn't get to try every donut type that I got but the ones I did get were really good. If you're looking for a quick pick up treat I would recommend checking out this donut shop.

Cute small local shop with a nice variety of donuts. They were so fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful. We chose a bakers dozen for 15.99 which is very reasonable considering how fresh they were. I've heard that you have to get there early or some sell out. They were filling the cream donuts to order which is great. Highly recommend as a treat when you are in the mood for some donuts.

I've been seeing The Donut Dugout pop up on Instagram for a while and finally had the chance to stop by over the weekend. The shop itself is small and more of a grab-and-go spot rather than a place to sit down with coffee, but everything was neat, presentable, and inviting. I was greeted right away, and the gentleman working was very kind. He happily answered my questions, shared their most popular sellers, and mentioned that they are community-driven (they even sponsor a local team, which I love to see from small businesses). That personal touch really stood out. By the time I arrived, they were already sold out of some of their specials, which shows they're popular! I went with a vanilla cream-filled donut and a chocolate cream-filled donut. Both looked great, but personally, I found the fillings a little lighter in flavor than I prefer. For me, I like a sweeter cream. They also mentioned that glazed donut holes are dog-friendly, which I thought was interesting--though I was a bit hesitant to give them to my pup. Still, I appreciated them thinking about four-legged friends. Overall, The Donut Dugout has friendly service and a community-first spirit, which is always a plus in my book. While the donuts weren't quite my favorite compared to other spots in the area (lots of competition out there!), I wouldn't mind going back if a friend wanted to try it.

    Please do not sit here.

Small but mighty! This is not a sit in place. Get your donuts and roll out. They are quick and friendly, open 5 days a week till 4pm. Some oldie but goodies but also their personal concoctions as well.

Truly in my hall of fame for donuts! If you're looking for a good mix of flavor and value this is your spot! Donut dugouts flavors are as varied as MLB teams, and they hit the flavors out of the park. My biggest gripe with most donut places is the saccharine flavor most fillings have - an artificial sugar you'll know when you taste it. Donut dugouts Bavarian cream is the epitome of a donut done well. The style is, to me, the Hallmark for a donut shop. Usually frosted, and filled. The balance of flavors is spot on and tasty, and most of all well executed as you can see. This quality and depth of flavor carries over to all of their donuts, you won't be disappointed!

The Donut Dugout is an amazing new business with a curates lineup of classic and old fashioned doughnuts! I love classic doughnuts so I was so thrilled to try them out! The space is great, and there are picnic tables outside, although parking is a bit limited. I visited later in the afternoon (around 2pm) so the big, beautiful display case was winding down, but still had great selection. A half dozen doughnuts was just under $10: what a deal!! All six of the doughnuts were home runs! My favorites were the blueberry cake (great natural blueberry flavor!) and French cruller (so custardy and light!!). I can't wait to try more!

Another home run visit with delicious baked fresh treats on display met with friendly counter service. $17 for 3 Boston creams, 2 choc frosted, 1 lemon, 1 coffee roll, and 1 apple fritter. Pricing is tad convoluted but hey, in life you get what you pay for and this is worth every penny!

Our local favorite is no longer a secret. We love these donuts. The family owned business has the best assortment. They offer lemon, raspberry, strawberry and Bavarian filling. They're so good. Our photo doesn't show the two apple fritters but they were also wonderful.

Literally the best donuts I've ever had in my life! My coworker bought some for us a month ago and I haven't stopped thinking about them since. I decided to take a trip to the thus weekend to get some and fell in love all over again the donuts are so soft and melt in your mouth. Also thank you for having lemon filled donuts!!! So filling! Literally! Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' got rid of theirs but no worries because of dugout donuts! Service and great and it was a beautiful shop!

The Donut Dugout is a new and exciting donut shop that opened with a huge splash last week, serving old school cake, yeast, and specialty donuts, as well as some other classic pastry items. It took over the building formerly occupied by Naci's Corner Cafe, a Turkish restaurant that closed earlier this year. It is stationed at the intersection of Granby Street and 19th Street directly behind Doumar's on Monticello Avenue, a world-famous ice cream shop known for inventing the first ice cream cone. It is a locally owned family-owned operation, led by Charles Ieng, who is originally from Maine, and his wife. They had originally wanted a location at Virginia Beach's Oceanfront, but none of the available storefronts fit their vision. When this Norfolk location became available, they visited and liked it enough to sign on and take it over. The name of The Donut Dugout was inspired by their children, who all play baseball. The overhead menu behind their counter reflects a baseball theme, with headings such as The Designated Hitter Lineup. All of their donuts and pastry items are cooked fresh daily. Although it is a carry-out operation with no indoor tables for seating, two picnic tables are available for seating directly out in front. Parking is available along 19th Street by a branch of Old Point National Bank and on Granby Street itself. After three visits, everything I have tried so far has exploded in my mouth with an awesome depth of flavor and texture. They include the following: CHOCOLATE DONUT WITH SPRINKLES: This was a cake style donut that was dense and compact with a crisp exterior of shell. Its flavors sent my taste buds soaring to a state of bliss. My Rating: 5 Stars. STRAWBERRY DONUT WITH SPRINKLES: This was another cake style donut that was a feast for the eyes. Once again, it socked me with a flavor profile that was off the charts delicious. My Rating: 5 Stars. CINNAMON ROLL: This is a classic pastry that I always enjoy just about anywhere. This one was exceptional with a soft and pillowy texture and deeply delicious cinnamon flavor that came through with flying colors. My Rating: 5 Stars. APPLE FRITTER: This was an old-fashioned yeast style donut that was listed under their Designated Hitter Lineup. It was deep fried to a crunchy texture and filled with apple slices and apple pie spices that were insanely delicious. I took one bite and couldn't stop eating it, My Rating: 5 Stars. STRAWBERRY FRENCH CRULLER: This was a beautifully presented cake style donut with a soft and pillowy texture with a flavor that was off the charts delicious. Once again, I took one bite and couldn't stop. My Rating: 5 Stars. BEAR CLAW: This was another entry from their Designated Hitter Lineup. The Bear Claw is a sweet yeast raised pastry, a type of Danish, that first originated in the U.S during the mid 1910s. The appearance of bear- like claws occur as the yeast rises with each section forming its own claw. This one was filled with a combination of apple slices and cinnamon that gave me an orgasmic taste experience. This is my favorite item tried here yet. My Rating: 5-Plus Stars. For my next visit, I am going to try a Long John, which is another entry from their Designated Hitter Lineup. It is a bar shaped yeast risen donut that comes Sugar Glazed or with Chocolate or Maple Icing. They can be filled with custard or creme as well. Their owners been exceptionally friendly and accommodating during each of my visits. I will be looking forward to my future visits, as I have only just begun to scratch the surface of everything they have to offer. The Donut Dugout is well deserving of our local support, and this review comes with a rousing slam dunk 5-star rating. NOTE: I also posted 10 photos, but they failed to attach themselves to my review. However, they did attach themselves to the main Photos section of this business as shown above.

    Dominick W.

Absolutely the best Apple fritter!!! Fresh crisp and the right amount of Apple filling. Service was quick and polite, even informed me about all available discounts. I will definitely make it part of my morning routines. To the review complaining about 1030 out of donuts. They open at 6 AM simply a testament to how good they are, the early bird catches the worm and no one should compensate you for sleeping in.

The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.
