If you're a sandwich person like me, Taste is an absolute win. I stopped in recently to the Town Center location and grabbed the Northender sandwich for later that day and haven't stopped thinking about it since. It's loaded with honey smoked turkey, hardwood smoked bacon, Havarti, avocado, romaine, tomato, and basil mayo all on fresh French bread. Basically the perfect balance of savory, fresh, and just indulgent enough. Every bite hit. I also grabbed the Shakedown Street smoothie (banana, chocolate whey protein, peanut butter, and oat milk), and it was such a good call. It felt like a treat but still filling and energizing, especially if you're grabbing something on the go. Speaking of grab-and-go, that's one of my favorite parts about this place. There are so many options, whether you need a quick lunch, snacks for the week, or something easy to bring to a friend's house when they're hosting. It's the kind of spot that makes you look like you planned ahead, even if you didn't. Also worth mentioning: their wine selection is huge!! You could easily pop in just to pick up a bottle (or a few), and there's something for every taste and price point. And I have to shout out the pimento cheese. It is seriously so good. I could eat the entire container. Creamy, flavorful, and a must-try if you're browsing their prepared items. I usually go to the shore drive location, but I enjoyed this one as well. This location in town Center VirginiaBeach is so pretty and as the tidally pleasing. Not only is the staff warm and inviting but the two floor restaurant is as well! The sandwiches, salads and soups here never seem to miss! I walked in on a cold rainy day in high hopes of earning my spirits with a hearty bowl of soup. I couldn't decide between Brunswick Stew Stew and Chicken Pot Pir Soup. I was offered a sample of each! That made the decision even harder because they were both delicious. I opted for the Chicken Pot Pie soup because it is seasonal and the Brunswick Stew in on the daily menu. My soup came with a huge chunk of fresh bread and butter. You get the option between a French Baguette or Multigrain. I chose the Baguette and it was a perfect addition to my soup. While Taste has expanded and popped up over Hampton Roads/CoVa, their commitment to quality remains the same. We never have a bad meal at any of the Taste locations. This particular visit was at the Virginia Beach Town Center location. It was lunch time, so it was pretty busy, but it took less than 5 minutes to receive our order once it was placed. Pretty impressive for a packed house! I got the mediterranean salmon bowl, and hubs got the Beach club. Both were delightful, as per usual. It was really tempting to pick up some prepped refrigerated sides and meals on the way out - we skipped that on this visit, but we'll surely grab and go on the next visit. read more

I had a yummy lunch at TASTE! I got the special which was a Turkey Sandwich. It was so packed with flavor , fresh, and had generous portion of toppings. The tomatoes and lettuce were super fresh. It was my first time eating here and I got the Lynnhaven sandwich. My friend got the Inlet sandwich and we also shared a Chocolate Banana smoothie. The sandwiches were just okay. The actual filling was good and seemed fresh, but the bread ruined it for me and made the sandwich seem dry. The smoothie had good flavor but was chalky and not icy at all. Stopped by on my lunch break. The service was very quick and friendly for a Friday. The place was loud but it seemed like I missed the rush. I ordered the Inlet Sandwich with a Diet Coke. I'm marking this review down to 3 because of the lackadaisical attitude of 2 of the staff. Went in within 1 hrs of closing, so maybe they had a bad shift. I should maybe be more accepting of the new employee contingent - but I'm not. The fact that EVERY ONE that comes through the door of the place you work for is supplying a part of your paycheck doesn't seem to register with them. If you don't like the job, do something about it and go find your own utopia. 1) barely a greeting. No, "have you been in before (which I had not), no "can I offer any suggestions?". Yes, the order was taken, but the vibe was meh. 2) When asked if there was a spoon in my bag to go, I got the answer from the gal walking away from me (without turning around) "yup, it's in the bread bag." Well, guess what I have to go source when I get back to my hotel - A SPOON! With all of that said, I had the crab and corn chowder - very good. I'd eat a bucket of it. Also had the Boardwalk. I added banana peppers to the north ender & got some roasted red pepper aioli on the side and it was delicious!! Great spot to grab a quick sandwich / salad. I really like this Town Center TASTE location. It's open and airy and looks like a NYC loft with high ceilings and exposed pipes/rafters. Same great menu and good location with plenty of nearby free parking in the garages or on one of the streets if you can snag one. We had an easy late dinner here before close one night and the Brunswick Stew was on point like always - theirs is the absolute best. I love their brewed teas and the Northender Sandwich is my go-to every time. Lots of simple grab and go items if you work nearby or need to grab something to go quickly. Noms! Local, fresh, healthy options. This location is closest to me and I was impressed. Parking isn't ideal, but that's everything in Town Center. When I walked in, I immediately loved their selection of local and hand-selected craft items that they have to offer. They have a nice alcohol and wine selection and many speciality foods. I took a few things home and everything was great. Atmosphere is great, lots of seating indoor or outdoors. Menu is decently big, mostly salads and sandwiches. I've always driven past other locations of Taste, so I'm glad I was able to try this location that is way closer to me. Beautiful inside that is super bright and clean. I had opted for curbside pickup, but there is only 1-2 spots available and I literally had to go around the block 5 times to still not be able to park there! I ended up parking down the street and going inside. With going inside, I will say your pickup order is literally not ready until the exact time of pickup (I was a bit early) so keep that in mind though it might've been a busy day. I opted to build my own sandwich on a croissant. I really enjoyed! The croissant was extra flaky that I wish it was a bit softer but there was a quite a lot of turkey so thank you! Gosh, I have no idea why this location has such low reviews. My recent experience here was excellent. I ordered online for curbside pick-up -- two sandwiches to take lunch to a friend. I got the Bayville Farms which I customized with balsamic dressing instead of the french and added tomato and lettuce to it. I did ask for it to be warmed, which they didn't actually do -- so that was probably the biggest downer. The bread, meat and dressing were all delicious together though, so I can't complain too much. My friend got the Tidewater, which she said was delicious and one of her favorites. The best part was that when I drove up, I asked if they had any sugar cookies in stock. They didn't have them listed online, but they had some and were able to amend my order to include them on the fly. That was excellent. From order time to pick up was as quoted, I didn't have to get out of my car, and overall it was an easy breezy experience. I'd recommend trying the sandwiches here if you haven't already! read more

TASTE is a wonderful local chain of cafés that feature sandwiches and salads made with locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Their breads, meats, veggies, and other ingredients are all fresh, locally, and responsibly sourced and crafted. The staff are always so nice, and even when the place is packed, food gets out quick. Today, when I snapped these pics, I went out with my bestie to the Town Center location. I got my usual Inlet, add avocado, and she got the Chicken Caesar salad. I just love the Inlet, which features their delicious, fresh, juicy tomatoes and mozzarella. There's also basil, basil mayo, and balsamic vinaigrette. This simple sandwich never fails to wow me. The fresh bread and quality ingredients are a fantastic combination. I also can never resist their Strawberry Cheesecake, and sometimes even grab an extra one to take home for later. It is so deliciously rich. My friend is more of a fan of TASTE's salads. Served with fresh bread, they offer a hearty portion of greens and plenty of protein, shaved cheeses, and dressing with the Chicken Caesar option. Additionally, TASTE offers a wide selection of chips, desserts, and craft sodas to pair with your sandwich. There's something for every set of tastebuds. On top of that, inside the café is a shop with gourmet food items like candy and nuts, and a large wine selection. What isn't to love?! Great healthy sandwich spot in VB with an open, airy atmosphere. They have a large variety of sandwiches that would appease meat lovers and vegetarians alike. My favorite is the Princess Anne, but I've also tried the Northender which has turkey and is pretty good. The demographic is very "VB" if you know what I mean, but the food is really good and since there are so many flavors for the sandwiches, it's never boring. I want to try their lavender lemon cake which looks pretty good and is sweetened with agave (yay for natural sugar!) Quiiick protip if you go to the cold bar on the left of the registers you'll see some salads and sandwiches - these are usually made beforehand and are $1 off. I can't say too much about customer service as it hasn't been particularly great, or bad, but they definitely get busy around lunchtime. read more

Finally had a chance to try TASTE. We have past each of their locations and finally stopped at their Town Center location. They had shaded seating, which was perfect for our two pups. I had the Boardwalk sandwich was great. Their house dressing on it made the sandwich. The bread ends are a great deal. Perfect to snack on later or give your hungry dog. I am so happy they put a Taste in my area, it is one of my favorite sandwich spots. I've been to this location twice since it's opened and I love it! It very big with lots of natural lighting. This one has two floors and a separate bar which is very cool. My favorite sandwich is the Lynnhaven. I've also had the Roasted red pepper and Gouda soup as well as the Chicken Caesar salad, all have been delicious. Next time I think I will dine in and try a wine flight.
