Called the restaurant to try to figure out how to get an actual kebab and was stonewalled by their AI I was so hungry, hadn't eaten all day so this happening really irritates me. The store is located in a mall. There are no pictures available that show the location of the store at the mall. GPS takes you to the completely opposite side of the mall. So you call the store to ask a human being "hey, what part of this mall is your storefront on", and I am obstructed by a AI answering machine who absolutely refuses to put me in touch with a human, says the store is very busy and offers a call back in an hour or two. Not gonna work. I was so mad by the time I found the store and went in to get my food. There was no one there eating. Not one customer there and they have the phones turned off. I'm afraid it's gonna affect my judgment of the actual meal. I do not accept any potential standard that a restaurant that takes online orders does not have to answer the phone when customers call. Post meal, the portions were generous (we got custom bowls and a wrap). The food was good and fresh enough. I like the falafel to be a bit more sturdy than what they do here, and I was completely disappointed in the peta bread. I ordered two extra pita's, with a picture of a whole pita. What I got was a stack of extra 1/2 pita's (not what I ordered and made my plans for the Pita's impossible). And they were tiny 1/2 pita's too. Not the same pita that comes with the wrap and was not a great Pita really. More like a thick tortilla. If you love bread you'll be disappointed, otherwise you probably don't care. Best Bowls in our area. Mezeh has the most variety of stuff going in the bowl. They have 4 types of salads to start out with if you choose. They have 2 different grains. I love the Basmati. It is fresh and flavorful. The choice of protein is hard to choose all of them are great Even the veggie and you can get a 1/2 and 1/2. I do love the chicken shawarma. Oh and then all the toppings. They have the most toppings I have seen . I love spicy so I start out with the spicy hummus and get the beet yogurt. Then we choose different ones every time after that. For the sauce Our favorite combo is Tzatziki and Harissa sauce with a few crunchy toppings. We also choose different ones of those too. The great part is you build your own bowl . So just choose things you like. The drink area has little cups so you can sample. They also have bottled drinks. Clean and beautiful restaurant. I love the colored glass lights. Good spot for a med-style build-a-bowl. Several base options (basmati rice + mixed greens were tasty) and LOTS of toppings. You get to pick 10- they were all pretty tasty. Particularly loved the spicy feta dip, baba ganoush, sumac cukes, and pickled beets. Falafel was also tasty- I think I liked this better than the veg kefta. I think they might have missed the spicy hummus and beet dip in my bowl, but to be fair, the bowl was packed to the lid and there really wasn't room for more. Harissa and lemon garlic sauces were both tasty. The pita, tho, was pretty terrible. The bowl comes with a half piece of pita and I ordered an extra on the side- both were brittle, dry, and breaking a part- definitely past their prime. I ordered via Uber Eats and it came without utentils or napkins, so be sure to ask if you are ordering delivery. And the pelegrino comes in a glass bottle and requires a bottle opener, so keep that it mind if you are in a hotel without kitchen supplies. :-) Hoping that they have fresh bread other days bc I'd def order again for a healthy, filling dinner. read more

Was very disappointed with my interaction at Mezeh this evening. The lady with the short brown hair who spoke English and Spanish (may have been manager) was a very intense woman that was snippy with not only her coworkers but with me as well. I left feeling anxiety and I feel bad for her coworker that seemed on edge because of her. Employees didn't greet our anything but eventually asked if we were picking up an order & pointed towards the Door Dash pick-up area, but our order wasn't there & my husband told them it wasn't there. It took some convincing to get them to believe & acknowledge that our order was not there. They went to pick up new order slips & he thought they started working on our order and went to the restroom, but when he came out & checked to see how our order was coming along. they told him they didn't get our order. Finally, when my husband showed them our order details on his phone, they realized they had indeed received our order but had STILL not even STARTED it yet! (Mind you, they were not busy, we were the only customer there at the time.) The employees offered not one single word of apology that they overlooked our order or for the delay, nothing. In fact, when my husband tried to make polite conversation, they were cold, almost angry acting. So we just waited while they made our food. It was finally ready over half an hour late. The food was fresh, plentiful portions, and flavorful - when we finally got it! But the ordeal we had to go through to get it wasn't worth it. First time I tried Mezeh was in Richmond. I absolutely loved it. The only downside was that there were none in Virginia Beach. The closest one to me was in Chesapeake. I drove there a few times but it's just out of the way for me. Last year I signed up for the grand opening of one in Virginia Beach. I was so excited until a year went by and I thought they had changed their minds. This morning as I was going threw my emails I finally got what I waited 16 months for. An invitation to join them for their opening today. I'm sitting here stuffing my face and thinking of my next visit. If you are near lynnhaven mall today, stop by and check them out. They are offering a free bowl with the purchase of a drink until 8:30pm. You will not regret it. read more

My new #1 spot in Virginia Beach for shawarma!! I love shawarma but typically I drive to Norfolk for it, so needless to say when I saw this place yesterday I had to try it!! The store itself I love because of its simplicity. Very European in it's design. I like the open concept ceiling and I especially love the outdoor seating. The store is very clean and well lit and the choice of decor is perfect. The store was insanely busy as it was opening day and they were giving away free bowls with every drink purchase. Even though they were super busy, the store was incredibly clean. I got the chicken shawarma bowl and my husband got the steak shawarma bowl. The chicken is seasoned beautifully. It does have some spice to it. I can't really do spicy but I could eat this and I would order this again. Typically I put a white garlic sauce on my shawarma. They have one that's a lemon garlic that is delicious! The Turkish salad that I put on my shawarma was delicious as well! I did try the steak shawarma it was cooked well nice and tender and the seasoning was on point! The only thing I can't give a raving review about that I tried was the pita. The pita I received was flat and cold. The extra one I ordered was warm but still pretty flat. It would like it if it was a little poofier so that way you could stuff it easier with the shawarma rice and all the fillings. One other thing I would like to note to anyone that has never had their juices before. There will be little black seeds in the bottom of your cup. That is okay. It is just because they're using real fruit!! The staff is super friendly and ready to help and answer any questions!! We love this place and make it a point to come every time we are at Lynnhaven Mall. There are bowls and wraps. I always get a build-your own bowl. You choose a protein (falafel is a choice we love). Then you can have them put whatever you want in your bowl. Several rice and grain choices, various greens, roasted veggies, tabouleh, caramelized eggplant (a MUST), various beans, tziki, pickled veggies, LOTS more. Choices of like 6 tempting dressings. You get fresh house made pita too! Beverages include passion fruit and lemongrass type fountain drinks for a good price. You order at the counter and tell them what you want and they put it in your bowl. You pay at the counter and seat yourself. The people who work there are very nice and seem genuinely happy that you enjoy the food. Only thing is you can't enter from the actual mall which is odd. I'm sure this affects their business because you don't see it when walking in the mall. You can enter from the outside only, it's just to the left of the LL. Bean store. Wow! Delicious food and wonderful service in a fun environment. I love the concept of building your own bowl with Mediterranean food. I was not familiar with a number of the offerings, but I was encouraged to ask questions and try a few new things (hello, beet dip, can't wait to have you again!). My bowl was not only colorful, the scent wafting to meet me was amazing. Everything was fresh, and the flavors melded wonderfully. The portion was large, I took part of my bowl home and enjoyed it for dinner. The restaurant itself is clean and well lit. The tile floor is very pretty and brings the Mediterranean vibe to life. So.....I like Cava, and I think because of its location in Town Center, it gets a lot of traffic, but PLEASE don't overlook this one. MEZEH is located on the, what probably most of us see as, back of Lynnhaven Mall. And it unfortunately does not have an actual Mall entrance, BUT not sure why there is no line out the door! The prices are comparable to Cava. There were 2 workers who were very sweet. The food was AMAZING! I went on the website to make sure I had the nutrition for my bowl, so although tempted, I didn't try some of the things on their menu but for what I got. Soooo good! Soooo filling! Had a bowl: arugula, chicken shwarma (spicy), roasted corn, Turkish salad, olives, carrots, pickled onions, baba ganoush, cucumbers, chickpea salad. And half of a freshly made pita. 70 g of protein. Delivery order: They forgot to pack half of my order for delivery and then when I reordered the same item they had the gall to just send me the original order from 2 hours ago that they forgot to pack! They couldn't even make a fresh bowl for a new order. The food arrived soggy and cold when it didn't really have to be. Horrible customer service and I recommend everyone to stay away from this place and it's terrible mismanagement. It isn't the first time we've had issues with this mezeh location - they're constantly messing up our orders and not making our food to the instructions given.
