Mr Shawarma is incredible. I crave it. The service is always wonderful, too. The beef & lamb, garlic sauce, in the wrap is to die for. Fried eggplants are outstanding. Go, try it...you'll love it! read more

The shawarma is decent, but the serving size is very inconsistent. Depending on who prepares your order, you might get a reasonable portion or one that feels noticeably smaller. The younger summer-job staff seem to serve the smallest portions, which can be a little disappointing. The ambiance is pretty underwhelming since the dining area feels empty, and there have been times when the area has even been flooded. The food prep area can also get pretty messy at times, lol. Overall, the food is okay, but the inconsistent portions and cleanliness/ambiance issues keep this at 3 stars for me. Hopefully, they can improve the consistency and upkeep. read more

5 STARS -- A Standout Mediterranean Street Food Gem in Virginia Beach. My experiences with Mr. Sharma go back to their original Norfolk location, where I first met their personable owner, Avi and partner Tal. Both are incredibly skilled at what they do. Their passion for Mediterranean street food shows in every detail of the operation. I've now visited the new Beach location on Laskin Road several times, and each visit reinforces just how impressive this business is. Last year, Avi even gave me a tour of the back of the house. It's state-of-the-art--spotless stainless steel everywhere, top-tier equipment, and a layout that shows real thought and pride in the craft. Parking when busy can offer challenges, but I had no issue. They offer a clean dining room to enjoy your food inside, or on a nice day alfresco on their patio. Customers self bus their tables. On my most recent visit, I ordered Avi's favorite dish, the chicken shawarma in a pita pocket. Outstanding--easily one of the best versions I've had that's loaded with humus, slaw, fries and their in-house sauces. I also met the general manager, Melissa, who was warm, friendly, and clearly invested in maintaining the high standards of freshness that make this place shine. She mentioned that Avi is back in Israel but still travels often, which tracks with the care and consistency the team maintains. I also had samples of their amazing falafel and egg plant which is like candy...yum! The Virginia Beach restaurant itself is clean, bright, and incredibly well put-together. A detail most people will miss, but shouldn't--is the noise-reducing ceiling panels. It's the kind of thoughtful touch that tells you the owners think about every part of the customer experience. Mr. Sharma is one of the most overlooked fast-casual restaurants in Virginia Beach, and frankly, it shouldn't be. This is a long overdue review and it's an easy five stars from me. If you haven't visited their new Laskin Road location yet, you're missing out. Mr. Shawarma holds a special place in my heart and cannot recommend enough. read more

Been awhile since I updated my review. Stopped in for a shawarma to go. Just as good as always, the wrap with beef and lamb was off the charts today. So good! Wrapped nicely - super stuffed and didn't even make a mess. Their branded packaging is a nice touch. Keep it up Mr Shawarma. Yum! read more

The food is delicious, best falafel in Virginia Beach hands down. Sauces make it so good! The service is always friendly and kind, ambiance is clean and quiet. We enjoyed dining in. Must try!! The baklava is superb too read more

Sophia and I ate lunch at this Mr. Shawarma location last Saturday in Virginia Beach. This was actually a Plan B since our 1st choice had a 35-40 wait time to where we had to leave. I've been wanting to try them out ever since they opened, so let's see how the visit went. We were both greeted by staff after walking inside. They were pretty busy with customers that were already ahead of us. They had a decent crowd seated inside and pop music was blasting through the building, but not too loud where you couldn't hear yourself speak. The decor for the most part was spotless. I say a little better than the Norfolk location. For my meal, I selected the chicken shawarma pita with veggies and a side of fries. Everything was pretty good and well cooked. It tasted the same as the Norfolk local. The only slight I had was the pita could've been a little warmer, but nonetheless, I was satisfied with my selection. Not a bad Plan B if I said so myself. Good food with a great staff. We even spoke to the owner a little bit while we ate. Definitely ran just right. We'll be back the next time we're in the area :) read more

This cost me $17.95 pre-tax This Restaurant is not good; Mazari Kebab and More has far better Mediterranean food in Virginia Their Chicken Shawarma does not inspire any excitement from me. I could argue that Rotisserie Chicken taste better than this slop Their Rice is bland and tasteless. Even the Spanish Yellow Rice in Costco/Sam's Club taste better Their Pita is chewy, but alas it has no taste read more

Best Shawarma in the area! Very customizable with fresh vegetables. Tried the falafel bowls (super crispy & delicious) that came with a side of pita (pillowy & warm) and my gosh the red spicy harissa was packed with heat! Got a nectar with my meal that offset the spiciness and baklava as dessert. Very worth it for a bowl or wrap due to how big the serving was! Incredibly friendly staff if you're unfamiliar with Mediterranean cuisine. read more

Tried Mr Shawarma the other day for the first time when in Virginia Beach to visit my parents. Ordered pick up and got two chicken shawarma wraps, one each for me and my mom. When I went in to grab the food, it was ready and waiting and the bag was heavier than I expected! Nice full wraps! They were pretty delicious: flavorful, a little spicy, some good textures wrapped up together and spread well within wrap so most bites were well balanced and tasty. I'd definitely eat it again. read more

Generally, this Mr. Shawarma is (was) a great establishment. My family has eaten there nearly every Friday since it's opened. While there's been a high employee turnover, we have noticed a decrease in consistency and quality. Yet, today, I decided to pick up the order since my daughter is still recovering from a sickness. So, I ordered our food online and specified each particular item to be added to wraps. When I arrived, I patiently waited as they put the order together--I should have watched them make them--this order was completely unacceptable. For both of the wraps ordered, I paid for extra meats--that never happened. In actuality, that was all that was inside the small wraps (just a bit bigger than a Taco Bell burrito)--very small amounts of protein. For the beef and lamb wrap, they completely forgot the humus, eggplant, fries, hot sauce, cucumber salad, onions, cabbage, and parsley--it was dry and maybe 1.5" wide (compared to their usual 4" wide). Unfortunately, the other wrap was the same with only chicken but a few pieces of onion. No sauces were put on the wraps, only placed in the to-go bag. The bowl, while sort of adequate, just didn't match their quality at all (see picture). I'm not a complaining person, to the contrary, I usually go out of my way to encourage staff, tip each time I order inside, even though there's no reason to tip. Regardless, this was the worst experience and I'm not sure when we'll return. read more

I found a wire in my chicken shawarma when I went. I almost choked. I spent $20 on this and had to throw it out. A messaged the restaurant to let them know and I got absolutely no response. And this was about a month ago. I will never go back there again. And I will tell you, be careful. And the chicken looked like it was pulled off of something very old. read more

Yummy everytimeeeee. I'd highly recommend to anyone to try this place out, clean and affordable meals

Excellent Falafel! Love the authentic style wraps. Option to add fresh cut fries to any and everything. Order from the menu or build your own bowl, pita or wrap. Service is always kind and fresh proteins always in queue. Perfect for lunch or midweek takeout. read more

A couple of months ago, I had a chance to try the Chicken Shawarma Wrap and it was absolutely amazing. Since then, I've wanted to return to try the Beef & Lamb Shawarma and I'm so happy I did. I arrived around 8pm on a Friday night and was happily greeted by all the staff. Unfortunately, they seemed to be running low on a few items, including the chicken and falafels, but since I was there for the Beef & Lamb Shawarma, I didn't mind. The lady making my bowl was very nice, she even let me try one of the last few falafels they had and it was great. My Beef & Shawarma Bowl consisted of sliced beef, hummus, jalapeño cilantro schug, fried eggplant, rice, chickpeas and veggies. They offer a variety of sauces as well so I asked for the garlic sauce and the harissa aioli on the side. The food was delicious! Everything paired so well together and the sauces enhanced the flavors even more. Mr. Shawarma offers pitas, wraps and bowls with fresh and flavorful ingredients. I highly recommend stopping by and trying it out. You will not be disappointed!!! read more

If you're looking for shawarma, look no further than Mr. Shawarma. When you first walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff, and the place is well-maintained. If you like beef and lamb, I highly recommend getting it in pita, though they also offer it in a wrap or bowl , and they also have chicken and sabih. According to their website, all their meats are halal. It's a great spot to grab a meal with family, friends, or coworkers. If you're craving shawarma, I definitely recommend giving this place a try read more

I just happened to be in the parking lot at dinner time, read their sign and said, "Why not?" without really knowing anything about Middle Eastern Street Food. So I walked in curious and walked out a loyal customer and fan! I do. not eat meat so I asked the server to assemble the other options for me. Not only was the pita absolutely delicious every one of the staff were kind and friendly and knowledgeable. High Five! And, for the record, I had to eat the rest for breakfast !! read more

I went to try Mr. Shawarma I ordered the beef and lamb bowl asked what else i wanted ask if I wanted hummus I declined twice. I like the beef and lamb, but I can't tell which from which. If it was just lamb it would have been nicer. The basamati rice is good, are nice and the garlic and tahini sauce was nice as well. The fried eggplants and pickled cabbage and cucumber tomato salad was fresh. The fries were ok. I would have like a larger size drink. Overall I thought this was a good meal. The customer service was really friendly and helpful. I like that and the inside was very clean and nobody were there at 11:01am. I didn't notice those specialty drinks, i thought they were in cans but now i see the pictures on yelp and its in bottles oh well I will go again next time to get those. read more

I've had plenty of shawarma in my lifetime, and this was nowhere close. The beef was dry and tasted old, and seeing it sitting in the buffet before being served should have been my sign to walk out. The portion they put in the tray was very small, and I had to ask for more repeatedly, which felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. I am an adult and expect a portion that allows me to enjoy the meal and not leave hungry. Because of the poor food quality and inadequate portions, I will not be returning to this location. read more

Cute little place. Reminds me of Chipotle with how everything is set up. Loved all the different toppings you could add, and I loved how my wrap turned out. They even made sure they put on fresh falafel for it. The fries were also a hit. Great amount of salt, and while they were a bit soft, they still had a little crunchiness to them. Their ranch was also quite nice, good flavor and was liquidy. Will be trying more Mediterranean places, but this was a nice quick and enjoyable lunch that I can see myself eating again. read more

This is the newest location for Mr. Shawarma and I don't think i've ever been to their original location. This new spot is soo convenient b/c it's literally right off the highway exit. I told the workers there that it was my first time and they gave us two free falafels to try! Customer service here is ON POINT!! I got the beef Shawarma wrap and they actually shaved some fresh beef for me right then and there since there wasn't much left in the pan on the hot pass. The beef Shawarma was DELICIOUS - the flavors all worked well together and the beef was beautifully seasoned. I would 100% get this again. My wife got the chicken bowl and she enjoyed that as well. Restaurant is open and bright and has plenty of tables for indoor dining. Restaurant was also very clean as well as the bathrooms. I am afraid to get a different type of protein next time since I really enjoyed the beef here. Can't wait to come back on my next visit! read more

So fresh! I am so happy they opened this location in VB. Super clean, friendly employees and delicious food. You walk in, super simple menu, you tell them what you want, watch them make it, pay and sit and enjoy. I got the chicken pita. I watched them shave the chicken right in front of me. You decide what you want on it. 1st time? Tell them and they will recommend. So fresh. Very basic dining room. Great place for lunch. Get your own fountain drink. When you are done you throw your trash away and stash the metal tray. Basic. Food is 5 stars, ambiance....not 5 stars. I will definitely be back....those pitas....yummy! read more

Probably one of the worst shawarmas I've ever had. I'm not sure if it was the meat or the vegetables but something in my pita shawarma got me sick. The chicken was a little colder than I expected but the rest of the food was sitting out at room temp. I also saw them put food in a bowl and then put it back in the tray after touching other food when it was the wrong order. read more

I have been a fan of Mr. Shawarma in Norfolk for a while so I was excited to see them open a second location in Virginia Beach. When my friend Super Yelper Fox E told me he was coming to the area I thought it would be a great opportunity to try the new location. We rolled in a little after 6 PM on Friday evening and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Staff is friendly and attentive and everyone looks like they really enjoy their jobs and working together. The space was neat and clean. We placed our orders at the counter and watched while our food was being prepared. We both had the beef and lamb shawarma, his in a pita and mine in a wrap. We got them loaded with most of the available ingredients and sauces. We also ordered the falafel appetizer. Complimentary pickled cucumbers, carrots and pepperoncinis were also provided. Our orders were ready in a couple minutes so we took our trays to a table then went to the self-serve soda fountain and filled our cups with water. We went back to the table and settled in to enjoy our meals. All I can say is WOW! The food was authentic and amazing. The shawarma was heavenly with all the flavors mingling together in joyous harmony. The shawarma at both locations is the best I've ever experienced in this country. The falafel is equally flavorful and amazing with the perfect texture. My only criticism is I wish the falafel appetizer had six pieces instead of five. As it is you find yourself staring at the lone remaining orb of delight and wondering who is going to eat it. I guess you can always just purchase a second order. When we first arrived there were a few customers taking advantage of the outdoor seating. I was very impressed when I saw an employee immediately come outside to clean the tables that had just been vacated. That's not something you see every day. As you can tell, Fox and I really enjoyed our fabulous meals and some great conversation in the comfortable confines of the dining room. I am happy this new location has a considerably more favorable parking situation than the Norfolk location. The small parking lot shared with the other tenet of the complex seems adequate. It is in good repair and free of debris. Well done, Mr. Shawarma. I look forward to return visits. read more

One of my favorite spots for mediterranean cuisine in Hampton Roads. I've been to their Norfolk location and was thrilled to see they were opening another location in VB. This one is much more accessible for me personally and I made sure to go check it out pretty close to when they opened. Just as good as location 1. Atmosphere at this location is nice, very clean with a decent number of tables. They also have some outdoor tables. I love their falafel, their beef and lamb shawarma and their chicken shawarma. I always get a bowl and load it up with all of their delicious toppings. Service is always consistently friendly and I find pricing to be fair. You get great portions. The ONLY thing we haven't loved is their baklava. read more

I've been so excited to try this place since I saw their grand opening sign. So glad I got to try it tonight. I got the falafel bowl and hubs got the beef and lamb wrap. Mine came with a generous portion of falafel, which was great because it's so good. I got all the toppings and added the spicy harissa (which is legit spicy btw but so good) and then I added some eggplant. For my sauces, I got tahini, garlic aioli and then a spicy one the guy picked for me. I added a spicy pepper too. I also got a hot and fresh complimentary side of pita, which was delicious. Our total came to $32, which is a little pricy. You do get a lot of food though. Everyone was so friendly and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. I can def see myself becoming a regular here! read more

This spot is quite a ways from home, but I was in the area for appointments, so it seemed like a prime opportunity to check it out. I was especially interested in lunch here after all the hype I'd read on Facebook foodie pages and here on Yelp, that piqued my interest. Unfortunately, it just wasn't good. It wasn't super busy, so maybe it had something to do with the food sitting for a while? I had a bowl and the hubs had a wrap. The meat was very dry and incredibly salty in both our meals. My rice wasn't cooked through. The selection of add-ons was on the weak side. To top it all off, the side of hummus was just horrible - very thin and rather tasteless. The only thing good about the meal was the warm pita. Overall, we were really let down. Maybe the Norfolk location is better, but not sure we'll be making the trip to find out. read more
