We normally frequent this establishment at least once per week. But lately the food has been subpar at best. The gentleman that normally makes our food is great. Tonight a young lady made our 3 Gyros and they were so poorly made. Upon opening our gyros at home I noticed that the meat was dry and the portion was half of what we normally get. The veggies were sparingly tossed in there along with the sauce only being on one end of the sandwich. This was not worth the time, traffic nor money tonight. Please do better. This was really delicious and affordable! We aren't often in the Chesapeake area but were looking for an easy carryout dinner after viewing a house nearby. The Simple Greek had a really easy order online option, and the food was ready in less than 10 minutes. My husband did a gyro rice bowl, while I opted for the gyro bowl on spring greens. We both LOVED our dishes! The gyro meat was thick cut and plentiful, toppings fresh and delicious, and it was nice that the bowls also came with pita and 2 sauce options. I did the tzatziki and hummus. Their hummus is so light and fluffy! With 2 bowl entrées and tax, our total was just over $20. This is a horrible representation of Greek food. The rice tastes like minute rice, lemon chicken taste like processed bland chicken. I've eaten at The Simple Greek quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. Their gyro bowls provide a filling lunch option without being too heavy on your stomach. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious as well; furthermore, I can attest that their lamb gyro, chicken gyro, and Mediterranean shrimp bowls are all bomb. The food is good, but what keeps me coming back to The Simple Greek is their impeccable customer service. On my first visit I came in about 30 minutes before they were closing (which was my bad), and I got a Brown rice bowl, everything was delicious but the brown rice tasted dried out and ruined the taste of entire bowl for me, when I went to the counter to explain my discontent, Maiya, was very friendly and had no problems remaking the bowl with a fresh batch of rice (even though they were about to close). Every time I have visited thereafter Maiya has been there with a smile and has really looked out to make sure all my needs are met. In fact, every worker I have encountered has been very friendly and helpful. Overall, The Simple Greek provides good food and even better customer service. read more

The great thing was, I called and the manager made it right by offering a free bowl to make up for it. They were really understanding which was so nice! The food was good especially the sauces including the garlic cream. Everything was fresh. Loved the garlic green beans. This is a Greek version of a burrito bar. Its concept is much like Chipotle, Moe's and Qdoba, but instead of the employees making a burrito for you they're making a gyro. Borrowing that concept is kind of genius, actually, because you can typically get in and out within a few minutes. So when it's your turn, you begin by ordering a protein (traditional, chicken, grilled steak or grilled chicken), then you choose your toppings (village salad, feta, red onions, shredded lettuce, pickled onions, red roasted peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, garbanzo beans and pepperoncinis). After that, you can choose a sauce (tzatziki, hummus, garlic cream, Greek dressing, spicy red pepper sauce), and then you can top it off with either salt, oregano, olive oil, or vinegar (or all, I assume). The create-your-own-gyro is fun, and I honestly get a kick out of varying things up. This is down the street from my office, so The Simple Greek is convenient. I like the interior because it feels so fresh and new, and the people working there are friendly. The first time I tried them it was packed. I think it was their first week because they had multiple employees working on their assembly line. The lines moved rather swiftly, but you can tell they were still trying to figure everything out. I tried their traditional gyro and I enjoyed it. And because I love cucumbers I was happy to ask for extra cucumbers. On my second visit it wasn't busy at all, and there was only one person on the line and one person at the register (but I was still able to make and complete my order in no time). I tried a gyro with their grilled chicken but it was a little dry. Good flavor, though, but I found myself having to wash it down with each bite. I tried their regular fries, which I enjoyed. Mind you, I love fries of all varieties, so maybe I'm not a good person to ask. Also, they offer desserts like baklava, so if you have a sweet tooth this may do the trick. I tried to contact them directly before going this route. The contact form at their website is broken, and their Twitter account is non-responsive, so I'm forced to try to communicate my displeasure this way. I've patronized the Chesapeake location about 3 times. All three times I've ordered a gyro bowl. First time I was very pleased. Second time, less so. My experience last week was downright bad. I ordered a gyro bowl for pickup. When I began to eat it, I noticed that most of the gyro meat was badly burned on one side. I had ordered extra gyro meat, which compounded the problem. I didn't have the time to return the bowl because I had to get back to the office, so I just made the best of it. But it was gross. I wondered what went through the mind of the person preparing the order; how can it ever be okay to pile an order high and deep with burned gyro meat? It was OBVIOUSLY burned, too, because one side of most of the gyro meat slices was a very dark brown to almost black on the outside. Either they were not paying attention at all, or they used it anyway because they didn't want to throw away the meat. Neither scenario is okay -- nobody wants to be served burnt food, but at $20 for lunch? You should do your level best to ensure that the order gets a little QA love before you shove it out the door. Sorry guys -- but that was a bridge too far. Unless they reach out to make this right, I won't be going back. P.S. Based on the nutrition information I've seen online (https://thesimplegreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/SIMPLEGREEK-NUTRITIONAL-INFORMATION-11.29.20.pdf), their gyro meat is most definitely NOT low-carb or keto friendly. 9g of carb per 4 oz. serving! I had tried Simple Greek years ago and it was good. This time the quality of food was not good. I had a gryo bowl with the seasoned rice and the rice was not cooked it was hard. Though the spanikopita was pretty good. I am not sure if Dolmas are offered anymore. I had them here years ago but didn't see them on the menu. Also, I think it is disingenuous for business to ask for a tip option on takeout. Especially when the customer has not had a chance to evaluate the product. This is my second review here. My first was about 4 years ago and unfortunately this place is not what it use to be. Today I visited on my way to work to get a quick falafel bowl for dinner. The place was empty except the 2 female workers. Neither greeted me upon entering (that matters). The young lady fixing my bowl appeared angry and I felt I was bothering her at work. She tossed tongs and gloves around like she was mad with being there. She was not rude just not friendly and it was off putting. I almost walked out because I was uncomfortable. I couldn't view her making my food because now there is a metal lids that block the view. I asked for cucumbers but she didn't add that to my bowl! If I could have viewed my food I would have correct that and asked for cucumbers because maybe she didn't hear me. She spent more time talking to the other young lady there than asking if I wanted anything else. I decided to pay for this bowl and get out. My bowl was flavorless and blah for the price. Nothing worth talking about and Not worth the money for me. I use to enjoy coming here for quench my Greek cravings but this will likely be my last visit unless something changes and the customer service (and food) improves. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This order is solely from grub hub I did not go in this establishment and dine nor do I want to. I ordered 50 dollars worth of stuff via grub hub to be delivered from The Simple Greek. I never recieved my food, nor did I receive a phone call that anything was array from this restaurant. The restaurant manually thru grub Hub claimed they received my order, had prepared my order and handed it to the Grub Hub delivery driver to be delivered. But after 2 hours and finally tracking my order which claimed it was delivered, I called The Simple Greek and got a rude young girl who claimed they never even recieved an order from grub hub, yet.... A grub hub driver came in to pick up some food and she turned them away and the grub hub driver left. Now half of this blunder is on Grub hub because the driver never contacted me either or initiated a refund of my money or tip! Nor did The Simple Greek! But Grub Hub explained to me that any restaurant that has orders thru grub Hub manually puts in when orders have been received, are in the making, and had been given to the driver so you can track it. I believe this is true because, I have ordered via GRUB HUB in the past and had stuff go wrong or orders that need to be clarified and the restaurant will call you and clarify to get the order started or canceled before it wastes not only your time but the Grub Hub drivers time. This restaurant likes to collect money but not make orders . And apparently the grub hub driver likes to take tips but not deliver food. A match made in heaven for the both of them. read more

I was craving Greek food. Nothing better than some falafels and hummus. I wouldn't say these were the best falafels I have ever had but they were definitely high up on the yummy scale. The lemon chicken bowl is my new favorite bowl. I had the lemon chicken with the white lemon rice and omg so yummy!!! I could literally live on this bowl! Very good food, but very bad staff. After walking in the woman behind the counter was making mobile orders and didn't acknowledge me for about 5 minutes. Another woman came up with an airpod in and proceeded to chat with the other, while also having a convo on her airpod. She finally greeted us with "Whatchu want?" We had to repeat ourself multiple times as she couldn't hear due to her phone call and got upset when we couldn't hear her one time. Multiple thank yous and not a single you're welcome. This is my second time here and it was just as good. I love the environment - it's clean, bright, and the workers are friendly. It is set up "Chipotle-style" so you walk in, choose if you want a pita gyro or a bowl with pita on the side. You choose your meat (or veggie), your sauce, and all the toppings. I got a pita with grilled chicken. My friend got a pita with steak. They were both AWESOME. The food is fresh and healthy. It's also a lot of food. We also got Greek fries and baklava. Both were delicious. I highly recommend this place. You can eat there or carry it home. I will say, the music was super loud, but I asked the guy working if he could turn it down so my friend and I could talk and he was super nice and turned it down for us :) read more

I stopped in The Simple Greek for the first time recently while having lunch with some friends who were visiting from out of town. They wanted to try something new and I'm not sure how they found the place, but told me roughly where it was located and so I met them there. You'll find the setup at TSG is familiar. You walk in, get in line and walk down the assembly line as they put your entree together. No different than Moe's, Your Pie and other similar places. Your first selection is Gyro or a wrap. Gyro of course! From there I added lamb from the rotisserie, Tzatziki sauce, tomato, cucumber and some vinaigrette. On the side I tried out an order of Greek Fries which were basically French Fries topped with Feta and red wine vinegar. Service was fast and in no time at all the order was made and we were at a table. The gyro was deceptively large and I shared the fries with everyone at the table. I really enjoyed the gyro however the fries not so much. Next time around I'll try a different side. During our meal the manager stopped by the table and checked on us and we shot the breeze for a few minutes. The staff overall was very friendly and courteous. Good experience for my first time there. Customer service was great, Greek food is my #2 fav, so I have eaten most of what is on their menu. My hubby is more of a meat and potato guy, wings also, so I had to persuade him. This also was fundraiser night for Oscar Smith high school, so I had to get there. Love this place! It was our first time eating here after countless times passing it up. Very open and inviting when you come it. There's a buffet style assembly line similar to Chipotle. You pick if you want a pita or bowl, pick your meat and then choose your veggie extras. Very efficient. We had the pita with the traditional gyro protein. Tzatziki sauce is a must and you choose your veggies. We also had the Greek fries. Outstanding! It's hard to find places like this in Chesapeake and I am glad this place is now on the map here.
