Awesome fine hidden in that shopping center. It's not easy to find in there but it looks like it's close to the grocery store. It has a little store as well. Feel free to buy some Turkish goods! They have coffee and tea and little snacks. Plus more Just to let you know, there is no lunch special. There is a kids menu. I wasn't too sure what to order but I got the Donner kebab plate. Went to "dine in", Got the Lamb plate .Served in a styrofoam to go plate ... bits tiny bits of lamb over a half a cup of rice , the other section had some onions and one section was lettuce , a pepper and 2 tomatoes with no dressing . I've been wanting to try this place because I've seen pretty good reviews. So i stopped by for lunch. Its in a shopping center off Military Hwy. Its a small restaurant with some seating to dine in. When i walked in i was greeted by a very nice soft spoken lady. She was kind and answered all my questions. The menu is small so you won't get overwhelmed with choices. I've never eaten Turkish food so i didn't know what to expect. I ordered the turkish spinach pastry, lentil soup, a sugar free carrot drink, and a kofte gyro. The only side is a small bag of chips. Theres also some grocery items like candy bars, soup, drinks, and etc. They were reasonably priced. The soup packets were only $1. So i was more willing to take a chance. The soup was ok but it was extremely watery. There was lentils in it but it was very fine, not chunky. I'd have preferred a different texture. The kofte was bland and the gyro was very skimpy as far as ingredients go. I used the yogurt dip to give it some flavor. It definitely taste different than the tzatziki sauces I've had before. The spinach pastry (borek) was flaky and warm. It didn't have much filling, but it was pretty good. The carrot drink (do gan ay) was absolutely not my cup of tea. It was sugar free but it didn't have any type of sweetness, not even a natural sweetness, which i wasn't aware of. It was bitter and tasted like wine. I probably should have just gotten a soda. The hazelnut candy bar was good. It was only a dollar and I'd get it again. The chips were lays. They were good. This isn't a place you should try if you don't like trying new things. Food was fantastic. The lentil soup is a must on a cold, wintry day. Creamy, with just the right amount of salt, i could eat it every day and not get tired of it. We drove over an hour to try this place since my husband loves Turkish food. So glad we made the trip! I ordered the vegetarian plate and my husband had the Doner plate. Both were a perfect portion for lunch, the veg plate had a variety of items to sample and all were delicious. My husband was happy with his meal too! We had Turkish Tea and Baklava too! The gentleman running the register was friendly and the prices weren't bad either. We plan to go again and bring a cooler along to take home some extras! Saw similar food on TV night before and wanted something different for lunch. I've driven past this place many times going to my Chinese spot but never thought to give it a shot. A clean but small restaurant that had a wall of Turkish items for sale. Staff was very nice and welcoming. I went with the stuffed grape leaves, beef doner sandwich, and kofte plate. As soon as I opened the stuffed grape leaves, I was met with a very pleasant aroma. Instantly reminded me of my times overseas. Very simple just grape leaves and rice but a delicious starter. Went for the beef doner sandwich next. Something I will definitely be back for. Really good sandwich and not at all expensive. Only thing is I would like a little more yogurt sauce. Last but not least, the kofte plate. I'm used to seeing kofte in football shaped meatballs. These were pattie shaped but that doesn't matter to me as long as it's good. I will say the kofte was dry. Definitely could have used some yogurt sauce on the side for dipping. The rice and onions were a nice compliment. Overall I will be back to try other things. It's been over eight years since my original review of Kervan Kebab House. That experience meritted three stars but a year or so ago I decided to revisit this Turkish restaurant. I am so glad I did. I am happy to give it a five star rating as my recent visits have all been perfect. The food is always fresh and hot and delicious, it's made to order. The small restaurant is family owned and operated. Service is friendly and efficient, always excellent whether you choose to eat in the small dining room or take out your meal. Menu prices are very reasonable. I have tried a lot of the menu and I have enjoyed everything. I particularly love the iskender plate but enjoy the beef donor and lamb plates as well. I don't know what it is about their rice but it is really delicious, much more tasty than what you receive at most restaurants. I've tried a few appetizers, my favorite is hummus with pita. I haven't tried any of the beverages. There is plenty of free parking in the huge lot shared with the rest of the businesses in Parkview Shopping Center, you should never have an issue finding a nearby parking space. Entering or exiting the shopping center is convenient with multiple access points. This location is not far from my house so I appreciate being able to stop in to pick up some delicious food on my way home from work. There's no need to call ahead because service is always very fast. read more

A few things stopped me from giving this place 5 stars. The first was that upon receiving my lamb plate which was delicious, the rice was extremely overcooked and very bland. Also, in my experience with eating Turkish food, the rice served with these types of dishes are usually basmati rice. The rice they were using was plain white rice, so not only did it just ruin the authenticity of the dish for me but it also didn't pair well with the delicious lamb in my opinion. The second thing was the lamb itself. It was very flavorful and very tender to perfection however, I received tiny bits and pieces of it. On the pictures in the restaurant the lamb picture showcased chunks of lamb. I wouldn't call these chunks. We're they delicious...HELLA however, they were just to small and skimpy for the price you pay. The third and final thing was the vinaigrette dressing that is provided to you with your side salad. It was not really of any vinaigrette. I tasted mostly oil even when shaken well. I only tasted a tiny hint of vinaigrette at the very bottom and when I say tiny bit I mean TINY BIT. Other than that my experience was positive. This restaurant also doubles as a Turkish Market with Turkish things to sell like different candies, foods, memorabilia. My favorite part was the Aryan drink. I love plain yogurt and I also love Aryan so it's good to know this place carries them on hand so I can stop by and grab one when I'm craving the taste. read more

This place is a hidden gem! I love Kervan's Kebab House for Mediterranean food! The owners are Turkish and provide an excellent experience. They sell Turkish tea, Turkish delights and other imported grocery items on some nicely organized shelves when you first walk in. They often offer free Turkish tea or coffee while I'm waiting, simply out of good customer service. I always get the Iskender plate- I'll have to remember to take a picture next time before I eat it haha. I also love the vegetable plate, everything on it is great and the homemade hummus is delicious. My family like the the beef diner sandwich (gyro) and the chicken kebabs, with an extra skewer. I used to love this place! Now that there are new people operating this place, I will never go back. I always get the beef doner sandwich and today it was very disappointing. It came with half the meat and the bread was not treated with the proper respect it deserves to hold it all together. The bread was dry and fell apart easily without any effort. They are my favorite for takeout because their food is always delicious and staff are always friendly. All of our kids love their food and it is always a hit for the entire family. This is my first time here and I got the lamb plate and baklava. The lamb plate came with white rice and a little side salad and a pepper and sliced onions. The spices they used to cook the lamb was different and interesting and the lamb was very tender. I was on my way to subway next door and saw a picture of a Gyro in the window, so I made a detour to this place instead. Fingers crossed I hope I didn't make a wrong last minute decision. Walking into this establishment, you instantly know you are in for a treat with the smell of good aroma, a small pantry of food items to purchase, and the Turkish music playing in the background. Very clean and low key. Since I was in for the Gyro I went straight to the menu board looking for it. Menu board is very easy to understand and not a lot of things to choose from which is great for me. (Too many choices just confuses me even the more hahaha!) Awww found the sandwich-beef Dono! Very tasty, well flavored, simple, light and just a delight! Meat was thinly cut and tender. I enjoyed every bite of the sandwich. So glad I gave this place a try. It's been years since I've visited Kervan, only because it's a bit out of the way for me. But I was glad to see it was still there and it was just as good as I'd remembered. Everything on the menu is decently priced, and the portions are just right! I ordered the chicken shish kebab, which came with two skewers of tender, seasoned chicken, salad, and rice, which was really good! I wish I had more of it! As I went to review the menu to see what might have changed since I last came, I noticed there wasn't any pita bread as a side nor was it listed as being served with their hummus. Well once I noticed it, I started to crave some lol. I asked the cashier if they have any, and I was glad to hear they did. She even offered to bring some out! I'm so glad I asked about it because it was some of the best pita bread I've ever had. It was piping hot with the perfect dense but fluffy crisp texture on the top. The first time I came here I just got a sandwich and chips to go and really didn't experience all this place had to offer until I had the opportunity to attend an unofficial yelp event (UYE) with Rosalind, Andrew, Kimberly, Xerxes, and Emily recently. You can really feel that is a family owned restaurant because the atmosphere really gives off the aura of being invited to your friend's house for dinner. You know how like when your friend's mom and dad explains what everything is before you eat it, and then you take a bite of it and although it's different than what you're used to, it's still terrific. I got the Borek spinach pastry, and it was an excellent start before the main entrée. Xerxes also bought a plate of hummus for the table, and of course that was good as well (sidebar: hummus is probably one of my favorite appetizers.) The Kofte Meatball plate with white rice and salad was delicious. The meatballs were juicy and tender; not dry at all, and the white rice had a nice consistency to it (not too gooey and too stiff). All in all two thumbs up from me, I would say that this UYE was a success and I will definitely be back to the Kervan Kebab House. read more

I can't believe I've been here several times and I see I don't have a review here! I come here typically after a good workout. I love the small, intimate feel I get here and they are really so nice here! They offer free Turkish tea.. The chicken shish kabobs are perfect and they have rice and I substitute the salad for the kale for a small up-charge. The chicken comes in skewers and it is so moist. Combo #1 is what I order I also get the large salad bar because i love their citrus salad dressing. It is sooo good! The little Mediterranean store is convenient and cool to grab some interesting snacks. The biscuits are staring at me. The sandwiches are filling and only $6.00 and a typical go to for an easy grab and go. The seatings are small but there is one table that could fit a large group. This place is outstanding! It's tucked away and the location doesn't do it justice. They're food is homemade, light, vegetarians can eat here, or meat eaters, authentic Mediterranean/ Turkish cousine. They have a small area where you can shop for Turkish foods/ snacks ranging from pickled okra to chocolate! The people there are so nice and accommodating! One of them explained the entire menu to a customer who had never eaten there before. I had the chicken shish kabob and my friend had the lamb gyro. Had about 5 or 6 small tables, the counter with a salad bar, and the side was a wall of packaged food items they sold. Menu was short and to the point with photos for ease of order. Self service beverage station. Order and sit down. I got the kofte plate which came with kofte, caramelized onions, rice, and salad. I am pretty sure by now that Yelp believes I have abandoned the quest for reviewing restaurants. The fact is, I have been dining out, but my dining experiences lately just haven't been that good to report with the exception of a few great meals out of state. My friend/neighbor invited me to this Turkish restaurant today. I have never had Turkish food, so I was very excited to try it. The small private setting was quite casual with a sense of home. The owners were very friendly. The dining area was very clean, cozy and inviting. There is even a market area filled with all sorts of deserts, candies, seasonings and delicious looking food items. I had no idea what to order so I trusted my friend to select something really good since she dined there regularly. We started with a bowl of the red lentil soup. I have had lentil soup and even made it myself. I have never had a bowl of lentil soup this good. The soup was piping hot and seasoned beyond any soup I have ever tasted in a restaurant. I could have eaten the whole pot. In fact, I would go back just for a bowl of that delicious soup! We also got a cheese and spinach filled pastry served with delicious savory yogurt. The pastry was so light and airy, I could have eaten a couple of those. It was served with a wonderful blend of tea in a dainty little cup and mini spoon to stir. It was really quite elegant. Then we got a chicken gyro. The bread was grill charred to a very appealing and appetizing brown. The chicken was packed with flavor. We were so filled, there was no room for dessert, but I'm definitely going back and I'm definitely getting dessert the next time. My friend says they have baklava. I will be trying theirs soon. I saw a couple of guests enjoying the hummus and pita bread. I am definitely trying that the next time along with their delicious looking chicken kabob with rice and salad. In fact, I am seriously considering trying everything on the menu because of how well everything we had was seasoned. I highly encourage you to pay a visit to Kervan's. I am so glad that I found it.
