    Chicken biryani
    Tiffaney I.

I ordered food from Hocco last night for the first time and was very pleased. lots ordered the chicken biriani with medium spice level and an order of samosas. Both were delicious. I was happy with the spice level that I chose. The biryani was very flavorful and had a large piece of bone in chicken in it. The samosas were deep friend and not over cooked. it included Tamarind and another green sauce that were the perfect flavor combo to dip them in. I can't wait to try more menu items.

We had Chicken Lolypop, Gunpowder Baby Potatoes (APP), Tandoori Chicken Tikka (APP), and Chettinad Curry with lamb at medium spice. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend this place.

A casual and modern styled restaurant. The chairs are quite comfortable, and the whole place seats about 30 people. The music was upbeat Indian, and filled the restaurant with depth, credit given to Bose speakers. A good sound system really defines the atmosphere. My meal was Lamb Korma with basmati rice, Amul Cheese Jalapeño Garlic Naan, Nimbu Pani, and a Topo-Chico mineral water in case I needed extra help with the spice heat. The korma curry is a cashew and onion gravy with a rich flavor that tastes almost mushroomy, and medium spiciness is pleasant on the mouth without being overwhelming. There was slightly less lamb than I expected for the price, but the quality of the dish made it easy to overlook. I dumped my basmati rice into my curry to create a curry delivery system for my mouth. I don't eat enough Indian to really know, but that's probably the way to eat it. An order of naan is two huge half moon slices, and I dare say essential to the meal. I ordered the cheese filled jalapeño garlic naan, and I don't regret it. Don't forget your naan! The nimbu pani (sweet lemon water) really helps with cutting the spicy heat. I call it really good lemonade. The price is not too cheap, but not too expensive either. While the flavor might be in your face, the prices are just right. Next time, I'll try the butter chicken.

Hocco - The Indian Kitchen; newly opened located in Chesapeake, VA! The first Hocco establishment to open in the USA! They make wraps, bowls, and various traditional Indian dishes. I tried several items from the menu, and each one was a banger! I had the spicy shrimp bowl, garlic naan, tandoori lamb chops, and mango lassi. Each dish was flavorful, seasoned, cooked perfectly, and just delicious! For my Indian foodies, or if you've never had Indian food, this is the place to run to!

Stopped in because I love Indian food, and this is a place I hadn't tried before this visit. This a a quick order type place, you can sit and eat as we did, but it seems like it's set up to be more of a takeout place. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, and I got it hot. And it was definitely hot! Not too hot, but right on that boarder for me. The color was darker than Tikka Masala typically is, but it was really good. I took home leftovers (side note, I love the way that it was served in the container, then when I had leftovers, all I needed was the top...smart) and it was still really good and the heat had calmed down a bit which made it the right level of heat for me. My wife ordered the Lamb Gouleti, and she said it was good. Going back to my dish, she got the mild spice level, and to my taste it was too mild. I feel like they need a spice level to straddle thise to spice levels. The Somoasa were really good too. Overall I recommend. I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu, but IDT you can go wrong with either of these two dishes.

Delicious lunch! So much flavor. Tiki Marsala "burrito" was simply amazing.

We purchased take out, but it was very nice and eclectic-minimal inside. It would have made a great dine in location. Tandoori chicken wings were amazing, as was the rink Marsala burrito.

First, the food is delicious. Extremely flavorful and just the right amount of spice for my requested preference. Large portions too! We thought it might be a bit too pricey until we saw our portions. The value is there for sure. Service was fine. Nothing overly friendly or over bad. Just fine. The place has a nice relaxed and comfortable ambiance with enough of a modern touch to feel current. We will definitely be back to try more options!

I had a wonderful time at this new place in town Hocco- The Indian Kitchen. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and garlic jalapeño Naan bread. I especially loved the naan bread because it had bits of jalapeño and lots of cheese inside. The staff was friendly and asked how we like the food. They even gave us some free gulab to sample. Parking is ample , location is near Sams club drive in Chesapeake. Seating was easy and the place inside is minimal style decorated and organized. I would recommend this place for take out or a place to hang out with friends.

    Interior. Nice and clean.

Stopped in after noticing it was open. Staff was very welcoming and handed me a menu as I walked in. You order at the counter and can sit down and they bring out your food on a tray. I ordered the curry dish, chicken tikka masala ($16) with a mango lassi ($4). My total bill with a 15% tip was $25. It was a bit much, but was a harder pill to swallow when the food arrived. My dish was very saucy and had some green peppers and onions and the chicken. Tasty and medium spiciness was good. But -- it was the size of a frozen Indian dinner I could get at my local grocery. Yes, their chicken was better quality than what's in a frozen dinner, probably. Also, i thought I had asked to replace the tandoori roti with the naan instead. I guess I misunderstood because I was served just the tandoori roti. The mango lassi was maybe 10 oz, so not huge. It was very thick and they served it with a thinner than normal straw. I guess this made it last longer because it was hard to drink through that straw. It was tasty but I would've liked it thinned out a little and a larger size for the $4. As you can see from the photo, it's not even filled to the top. The tandoori roti was ok and helped to scoop up the sauce of the dish. While eating, an employee asked me how everything was. I said it was fine and the medium spiciness was fine for me. I explained that I had wanted naan and she mentioned I could choose it. I replied I thought I had. She said there is a choice of the rice or the roti. It then occurred to me, oh yeah! Where was the basmati rice?? The way it was written, I had thought it came with basmati rice *and* the roti. ("Served with basmati rice / tandoori roti" on the menu). You have to choose one or the other. Suddenly, my meal felt even smaller and more expensive. So while this was tasty, I think the menu could have been more clear by writing "or" regarding the rice or roti. There also seemed to be confusion of communication of what I wanted or what was available. More unfortunate however, is that the portion was too small to be paying $20 without a drink. I probably would think it's worth what I paid if it came with basmati rice and choice of naan maybe for $1 extra. But I can't justify spending $25 total for what I received. I am used to paying $15 lunch meals with rice and large entree plus small soup or salad and a drink. Come try it out, but you'll see you will have paid a lot for too little food. Other Indian places in the area give a very generous amount for less and have delicious lunch specials.

It was a pleasure to visit during their opening week. It's a fast-casual place. The menu is extensive for a place with this sort of setup. Pickup a paper menu as the screens behind the counter don't show everything at once. I had the Lamb Korma. The flavor was on point; rich with cashews and spices. The basmati rice was perfectly fluffy. As this was their first week, the manager was keen to take customer feedback back. I suggested cutting the pieces of meat a little smaller as plastic silverware won't do the job. Piping hot gulab jamun for dessert made for a great lunch. I'll definitely be back.

THE BEST Indian food I've had in a while. The service was top tier. The owners approached us almost immediately and the host asked us if we had any questions straight off the bat. They are attentive and very helpful, extremely friendly and patient. The atmosphere is inviting, cute and super family oriented which is definitely a plus +. I was recommended this establishment by my mom, I've tried their food before and was blown away, however the experience is so much more rewarding when you sit in and order yourself. I love this place and the team and I will be sure to make this my staple from now on. 10 out of 10 ‍

Butter chicken w rice - sorry forgot to take a pic before I ate a bunch of it.

I got the butter chicken, samosa, roti, and naan. It was all very tasty. Some of the best tasting Indian food I've had ... I will say I do wish the serving size was a bit bigger for the cost but it was all very delicious. Also wish they had a soda machine instead of bottled drinks. That all said - it was very good, staff were friendly and helpful and I will definitely go there again.

My husband and I often want to go have Indian food, but we find most Indian restaurants a little bit fancy and quiet for my wired four-year-old. This is a casual Indian restaurant with all of the flavors and none of the pressure! Delicious, fast, and fairly priced. The rice is flavorful, the curry equally if not more so, and the naan... speaks for itself. I can't wait to bring my husband bc he has been craving Indian food for a while now. So glad to have found it; we will definitely be regulars.

I ended up going with the special of the day which was a bowl of rice with 2 sides.. went with the palak and the chicken tikka masala.... The food taste was pretty good, flavor was great, qty could have been a little bit bigger.... The only negative here is that the food is stored cafeteria style, so it was a little on the cold side.... and the side of chia I did not care for.... Would have preferred to have nan bread... The flavor was all very good but I would not call it mild lol that's probably my only complaint - it was a little too spicy for me. I have been to other Indian places that offer American mild, medium, hot AND indian mild, medium, hot. I think they realize that they are able to tolerate a lot more spice! I would say my meal was probably "Indian" mild. I realize spice is subjective, and I am a wimp! They offer a variety of different drinks in their cooler and they have a filtered water station. They do not offer ice at all. Our food came out very fast but was still PIPING hot and fresh! The customer service was excellent. The gentlemen at the counter was extremely nice! During our meal one of the women from the kitchen came out to use the restroom but stopped to ask us how our meal was and to let them know if we needed anything. Very sweet people! The restaurant wasn't completely full but that soon changed with several families coming in right after us. The restaurant is on the smaller side, clean and decorated well. We went on a Saturday night and ordered off of their special weekend menu. We definitely over ordered. There were 3 of us and we had enough leftovers for a full meal the next day. We ordered the masala cheese dosai, butter chicken, nalli gosht biryani and malai lamb chops. The nalli gosht is the goat shank biryani, we got the order for 2 people, it comes with 2 goat shanks on a mountain of fluffy fragrant basmati rice. The goat was tender falling off the bone, seasoned to perfection in a spicy masala paste/sauce. We got it at level one spice but it tasted spicer. We didn't mind because the spice just added to the flavor. It was so good! We also got the usual butter chicken which turned out to be not so usual because like everything else we tried, the spice combo and depth of flavor just turned it up several notches. The masala cheese dosai was a great start to the meal and was fun to eat with our hands. The lamb chops were a last minute addition and so worth it. The chops were cooked perfectly in a flavorful sauce and served with a veggie slaw. Overall, we LOVED everything we tried and would definitely recommend Biryani Hub. The only suggestion we have would be to serve cold water or offer ice. Our waiter brought a bottle of water to the table with glasses but the water was more room temp. Biryani Hub Delivers a Flavorful Introduction to Authentic Indian Cuisine…read more I finally made my way to Biryani Hub for lunch, conveniently located at 5745 Virginia Beach Boulevard, tucked just behind the Waffle House. For weekday diners, the restaurant offers a smart selection of combination platters--an ideal entry point for anyone looking to explore a range of traditional Indian dishes in a single sitting. I chose the Chicken Platter ($15), which features three distinct preparations, two generously sized pieces of naan, and a dessert to round out the meal. It's a well-structured offering that balances variety with portion size. The standout was the Chicken Dum (bone-in), prepared in the traditional dum style--slow-cooked and sealed to lock in flavor. The result is deeply aromatic, rich, and layered in a way that feels unmistakably royal. This is not rushed food; it's deliberate, composed, and worthy of the word "luxury." Equally impressive was the Special Chicken (boneless)--tender pieces marinated in a proprietary blend of spices, then cooked with fragrant basmati rice in layered fashion. Each bite carried trapped aromas that unfolded gradually, delivering both depth and balance without overwhelming the palate. One detail worth noting: the clearly defined spice scale (1-7). I selected level 4, labeled "Indian Mild." While approachable, it still carried a noticeable heat--enough to remind you that you're experiencing authentic seasoning rather than a toned-down version. Too often, restaurants rely on heat for its own sake--spice without structure. That's not the case here. At Biryani Hub, the heat is deliberate, built into layered flavor profiles that are difficult to fully describe and far better experienced firsthand. What stood out most was the depth of flavor across the board. Each dish brought its own identity, with spices working in harmony rather than competing for attention. For those already familiar with Indian cuisine--or anyone curious to step into it--Biryani Hub is a worthwhile stop. It's the kind of place that rewards exploration while supporting a local business doing things the right way.
