Talk about bang for your buck. Finally got around to trying the Ten Top when my sandwich craving hit. Did not disappoint! A local hole in the wall in an unassuming shopping plaza off Colley Ave. Small but mighty menu! Order at the front and the food comes to your table. The place has a very comforting, local vibe to it. Will be returning to sample other menu items for sure!

Quick and easy spot to pickup a sandwich in Ghent! I got the Greek lamb hoagie, which was packed with plenty of lamb slices. The lighter dill dressing was a good contrast, and it all fit together nicely in a baguette. Also a big fan of the refreshing pasta salad as well!

Tuna melt, pasta salad, bread pudding

Yall these tuna melts are LIFE CHANGING. It was genuinely the best thing I've ever had. The bread pudding was also perfect. We went at lunch time and there was one other person in there and I couldnt believe it!!! More people have got to check them out it's FANTASTIC. Decent prices too!

Went here today to finally try a sandwich of theirs. I've been following them on Insta for a while now, but their specialty sandwich of the day sounded too good, and I had off for the day. So, I drove over to try some food, and when I got there, the place was packed. Very busy, very small parking lot, luckily there's a neighborhood you can park along on. I went inside and first thing I noticed was how quaint it was. I thought it'd be bigger, but I'm not surprised, it is Norfolk after all. After looking at the menu it was a hard choice. Their special of the day was turkey, havarti, tomato, baby greens, red onion, and green goddess aioli on a french baguette. Thinking about it now, I really should've gotten it! It sounds great still. Instead, I opted for their moroccan roasted chick pea salad wrap with a side of potato salad. My friend ordered their country boy banh mi, and I got their california cobb for my dad. They also had some giant cookies and brownies that I was eyeing up as well. Next time for sure I'll indulge. The staff there are nice, it seemed like a hard lunch rush for them though, only two people behind the counter can be trying. Wait time wasn't bad, like about 10 minutes for our orders. We got to-go, and ate outside before it got rainy. The wrap was very good, I loved the flavor and it had a good amount of things spread out inside. So, it wasn't a big bite of lettuce here and a big bite of chick pea there, it was good and uniform throughout. As for the potato salad, OH MY GOD THAT WAS A LOT! I was so surprised the hefty amount they gave. Usually it's in a little cup for $3 extra. Nope. Not here. Big ole scoops of it included in the price. and with a fat wrap, I definitely had leftovers. The potato salad itself was well made, soft potatoes that still hold, crunchy celery, good amount of mayo, and seasoned nicely. Only thing was that they don't have mustard in it, or if they do I didn't really taste it. It was still one of the better ones I've had though. My friend's sandwich was good too, loved the aioli they dress it with, good balanced sandwich. As far as the salad went, it was a hefty amount of greens. It was enough to have for a second salad tomorrow, which was great! Really good bang for your buck here, and I love that they have specials and keep up to date with their socials. I hope to come back here soon, and if you haven't tried this place you should!

I'm so grateful for this local gem in Ghent! This place always delivers high quality lunch/dinner options and you can taste the fresh ingredients they use! Another bonus: they have daily lunch and dinner specials where you can try something new every day. Unbeatable service and cute location.

Quick service and delicious eats. Fun, eclectic, nostalgic decor. A variety of soups, sandwiches, and salads are available, as well as a great local beer and wine selection. The birria burrito was the special of the day - hubs said it was "quite good." I had the California Cobb salad with the Tuscan chicken soup, which was way too much food. I was happy to enjoy the rest for dinner. Will definitely return for more!

This is my second time coming here. The first time wasn't even for me because I got my sick girlfriend some soup. She said verbatim "they have the best soup ever". I don't eat a bunch of soup so I said sure and left it alone. BOY oh boy.. listen, they got good everything. I decided to try the baby back ribs sandwich with red onions and pickles? Fire. She had the special which was chicken mashed potatoes and a Caesar (there was other stuff but I was too busy eating my own food) which was MMMM MMMM! And to top it off? The music was bumping and had us jamming in our chair. And as an extra plus any place with a pinball machine is a place I wanna go to. The one problem they have is the parking in front of the store is a lil packed, but it's Ghent area. Just find a place to park and walk. Super nice area and pretty safe too

I love this place. Since first coming here in 2016, we've probably been here at least 20-30 times. This is a feat in itself as it takes us almost an hour to get here. People often ask me for good food places and The Ten Top is the 1st place I always mention. When I worked down the street at VDH we would order take out all the time, and I only worked there 8 months! Anytime I find myself in Norfolk, we visit TTT. The food is always fresh, it is always delicious and the staff are always friendly. I've had a 3rd of the menu (some things I just don't eat, no reflection on TTT menu) and am always stalking their specials. We found ourselves in Norfolk to see a friend and stopped in for lunch. I had my favorite turkey apple club and hubby had his, the meatloaf sandwich and ordered a bowl of soup du jour, Creamy Chicken Cheese Tortellini-y'all, I am NOT a soup person but I was freezing cold, a little melancholy and needed a comfort only a childhood memory could satisfy, and that soup satisfied everything I needed that day. Hubby barely finished his sandwich because he wanted soup, soup and more soup. We even had leftovers and he finished the soup before his sandwich. To say I love this place would be an understatement. I've shared them with about 20 friends, coworkers and even strangers because they are just that good.

Came for lunch with a friend. I would have prefered a half sandwich and soup but I substituted the regular side for one of the soups of the day which was super yummy. The bowl was huge & the sandwich was too. Had leftovers for dinner. Can't wait to come back and try different soups!!!

Ugh I cannot get enough of this place!!! Not many seats so be prepared to flex and take your food to-go. The food is SO GOOD. I cannot say this enough. From their soups to sandwiches - luxurious flavor profiles and professionalism from the kitchen staff. Tip: bring your laundry to the laundromat next door OR have an early dinner and see a movie across the street!

I really liked this restaurant. It was my first visit, but it won't be the last. They have several tables for seating or you can order your food to go. The Ten Top reminds of a diner without the countertop. The food is great and the service was spot on. I had the smoked salmon and arugula salad and it was delicious. It had fresh sliced Parmesan cheese, sundried tomatoes, red onions, and the Parisian Dijon dressing was a great touch. The owner/manager brought the food to the table. They have Dirty chips - you can't ever go wrong with those. They offer soups du jour, which o forgot to try. But, I'll be back. There's so much to explore on the menu, from salads to sandwiches to wraps. And they serve dinner too!!

Drove 20 mins to eat dinner here. Walked in, small dining area to eat. Ordered at the front. Menu were printed papers, special of the day is posted on the wall above the ordering counter. Hummus was good- needed a hint of lemon in my opinion and the Naan needed to be toasted a little longer. Meatloaf dinner- that's enough for 5 kids under 5 to share. Omg, it was enormous. It was all good. The mashed potatoes were creamy. Veggies were steamed Just right and the meatloaf was seasoned well. The ten top wrap it was so good. The lasagna soup(it's labeled something different) was so good. I loved all the tomatoes in it. The caprese sandwich- on point. Although, I should have added a grilled chicken or bacon to it. Lol. Will definitely be back! Service on top of it!

I love it here! The food is always so fresh and delicious. Their daily specials always look incredible. The staff is friendly and food usually comes out pretty quickly. Had the tuna melt for the first time on my last visit and it was good. Also highly recommend the McRick rib sandwich. I think it's the best sandwich I've ever had. This is a great neighborhood spot!

Pastrami melt. Generous portions. I wish they were cut more thinly, but still taste yummy.

In fact, I'm known among…read moremy friends and family as a very critical eater--some have even jokingly called me a food critic. So for me to take the time to write this says a lot. From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. Thank you for an amazing visit--continued success to you, and a huge job well done to the kitchen staff.

As many times as…read moreI have been on Colley and was even recently right across the street at the bike shop, I've never noticed this place. It's a very small establishment. There is some table seating as well as seating at the counter, and then there is outside seating out front and a covered patio out back. You can sit wherever you'd like that is open. First we sat at the counter because that was all that was available inside. The bar stools are mounted to the ground and were too high for short folks making them uncomfortable. There isn't a place to rest your feet and you can't move the seats back so that you can move your body forward. We ended up moving to a table when another couple left, and that was MUCH better! Shana was our waitress, and she was great. Super nice and very attentive. Also did a good job of keeping our table free of clutter. We had the fried green tomatoes, and those were really fresh and good. I like the sauce that came with them, and I am glad they put it on the side vs serving it on top of the dish. For my meal, I had their homemade corn-beef hash with 2 eggs with cheese and substituted the biscuit or toast for a single pancake. We also had coffee and the sorbet mimosa in mango/lemon and another in raspberry/lemon. I personally did not care for the hash. While it was absolutely real, fresh corn beef, I didn't like the flavor. It was on the sweeter side, and I like mine more savory and with a more charred cook. I didn't eat it. The eggs and pancake were good. I will say their syrup is watery. It is not the thick consistency you would expect from normal syrup. It's better for dipping vs pouring on. I also tasted my sisters salmon cakes and THAT is what I should've gotten - AMAZING! All I needed was a little bit of mustard. The sorbet mimosa was SO good and super refreshing for such a hot morning. Speaking of hot, we are currently going through a heat wave, and it's been 100+ outside for the past few days. With that said, the restaurant was very warm. Between it being so small and the heavy traffic in and out, there's just no way for the AC to keep up. Keep that in mind if visiting on a super hot day. I will absolutely come back. There are other dishes I'd like to try. The service was great and everybody was super friendly! Definitely worth trying for yourself.

I have had a few visits here now, and the most recent visit was on January 12, 2026. At the beginning of each new year, I like to try a place that I have never been to before, so January 1, 2026, was the first time I had come here. My mom was with me. Depending on when you come in general, parking can be limited at times with all the other businesses in this shopping center. Upon first look at the place from the outside, you can see the name and logo pretty easily. It looks similar to other places that happen to be in this same shopping center. We got here around 8 am on that first visit. When we came inside, it wasn't too busy yet, likely due to others probably still sleeping after being up past midnight for the new year. The inside of the place has a modern diner type of vibe, which fits the restaurant well. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Brooke came over pretty quickly and asked us what we would like to drink. I just do my usual of water with lemon, and my mom had gotten coffee. It would take us a little while to choose since there lots of good items to choose from. When she came back to check again, we were ready this time. I figured I'd get something I don't normally do, so I went for the French Toast Combo with scrambled eggs, bacon, and baked apples. My mom decided to go with the Ultimate Skillet with rye toast. The food would come out pretty quick. It was around ten minutes or so. Both breakfast entrees looked really good and they were hot. It felt like an indulgence when I started on the French toast since it has been a long time since having it. The baked apples were great too, and something else I don't normally have. I will note that I didn't get a blood sugar spike after this meal either that day. My mom enjoyed the Ultimate Skillet as much as I did with the French Toast Combo. After the experience from that first visit, we came back to try the lunch/dinner menu options for dinner that day. This visit was on January 12, 2026. After being seated initially, we moved over to a table since the booths were a bit tight. Kellie was our server on this visit. She asked us what we wanted to have to drink, and I went with water with lemon and my mom went with a coke. After taking some time to look over the menu, we were ready to order. My mom decided not to have too much, so she just went with the Loaded Baked Potato side item. I decided to try the Chipotle Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich with the homemade chips as the side. Just like the last time, it took about ten minutes or so for the food to come out. The sandwich I had was really good, and so were the homemade chips. This time, this meal did spike my blood sugar levels, but it was so good. My mom told me afterwards that the loaded baked potato she had come out cold. It was then that we let the server know, and she asked if she wanted to get it redone. She said no but wanted to take it home instead. The server did take off the cost of that item. It was likely due to it sitting before my sandwich was ready to bring them out together. Mom did get a box to bring it home and had it later that evening, and she said it was good when it was heated up at home too. Overall, we have had a few very good experiences here. The food and service were good, and the issue for my mom was handled well too. That shows they truly care about the experience of the visitors here. Both menus may be just two sides, but there is quite a bit to choose from. I think anyone would find something they would like here. There is one thing I want to note when it comes to paying. There is a 3% surcharge added to the total including taxes if you use a credit card instead of cash. In the end, if you are looking for a diner type of place, this one is worth checking out.

A quick heads-up for first-timers: the turnoff for the parking lot behind the restaurant is easy to miss if you're relying on GPS. Several of us had to make a U-turn after the bridge. Thankfully, we had a reservation, which I highly recommend since the restaurant is not large. I'm not sure what prompted our host to choose LeGrand Kitchen, but every single one of us was glad they did. I honestly can't recall a single complaint from the entire evening. Despite our large group, the atmosphere never felt cramped. Instead, it was cozy and intimate, perfect for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or even a business meal. The menu offered a great mix of options, including both their regular menu and a seasonal specials menu, and several of us ordered from each. We shared a variety of appetizers, all of which were outstanding: pork belly with candied jalapeños, a salad with the most delicious pickled onions, a winter salad with goat cheese, pecans, and roasted squash, and pimento cheese. Every bite was a hit. Entrees ranged from regular menu favorites to specials, including the LeGrand Burger (which we later discovered was named one of Yelp's Top 100 Burgers in America), short ribs, tender and flavorful pork chops from the specials menu, and the ribeye. Every guest at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal, so much so that we all took leftovers home. The server and kitchen were also more than willing to accommodate individual taste preferences by exchanging sides, which was appreciated by a few in our party. Dessert was just as impressive. We ordered a variety from the menu, including the Blonde, Atlantic Beach Lemon Pie, which was fresh, light, and absolutely delightful, Chocolate Pot de Crème, and Carrot Cake. Every dessert was outstanding. Our server was attentive and pleasant throughout the evening. Drinks were always full and plates were cleared promptly, and service never felt rushed or intrusive. Whether you prefer classic buttermilk or something more adventurous, each stack is a delightful experience that keeps you coming back for more. The Philly cheesesteak omelette is an absolute standout as well. Packed with tender strips of steak, melted cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions, it's a hearty and satisfying dish that perfectly complements the sweet pancakes. The balance of savory and sweet options makes this place a must-visit for any breakfast lover. Exceptional service, cozy atmosphere, and unbeatable food quality make this pancake house a top choice for breakfast or brunch. Highly recommended! Yeee!!!

I have never written a bad (or good) review due to politics or complaints about MSNBC or CNN being on the many TVs at many restaurants before. I won't start now. This review is based on the food & service. You know.... The reason the restaurant reviews exist! The food was excellent. We got a variety of things. Everything came out perfect. They customized our meals as we needed, accommodating allergies & preferences as needed. The kids devoured their food. The adults enjoyed everything. When mistakes were made, they were corrected in a very acceptable manor. The service was friendly and attentive. Even though the place was packed (especially with our 10 people taking up so much space) We recommend this place highly. For the FOOD & SERVICE. Who cares what was on the TV!!

The place inside is very cute and reminds me of a nice punk pop bar. The bar wraps around and there's some tables and a side table that we sat at to eat. I ordered one of their specialty coffees and it is quite the journey but I enjoyed it with the ginger beer and the coffee. My quiche was fluffy and delicious. It jiggled when I tapped it and the side salad tasted great with dill in it and it brightened up things. The combination of both was great. The crust on the quiche was nice as well. My spouse enjoyed their sandwich but didn't realize there was mustard so he ended up just using the chips to eat his egg and sausage. His egg was also fluffy. The patrons that came seemed friendly and you can tell who are locals since they greeted by name often. I love that this place is open. They also have local wine you can purchase. Next time we're back in town, we will visit again.

Food was mid for me unfortunately. I had the midnight cowboy and wouldn't order it again. It's a turkey sandwich topped with pulled chicken, but the chicken was inedible and got taken off. Seemed like they took it from the fridge and mega nuked the chicken. It ended up being a crunchy topping on a basic turkey sandwich.

Lovely people watching, yet it's not so loud that table conversation of challenging. You'll notice that this is quick-ish dining. It's not fast-casual, but you're not waiting 30 minutes for your food. Expect at least 10 minutes for appetizers to arrive. Our entrees were ready in about 20, and the place was near capacity. The great thing about the wait? It was well worth it. Piping hot food, served with that homemade flavor arrives on dishes that almost match. I chuckled at the mismatched bowls that hit our table. I felt like family before my first bite. Meatloaf! I can't make one, but I'll eat one that is well made. Dense, flavorful and portioned to take some with you. My bonus was that I got my wife's leftovers, too. It was delicious! It was even better when I warmed it for lunch the next day. Traditional sides, worthy of their own review, but I'll keep it brief. Get the mashed potatoes! Send a thanks when you're full.
