    Still celebrating my birthday
    Queen B.

I have received so much positive feedback from close friends about this establishment... so I had to try it for myself! I was able to make dinner reservations fairly quickly via Open Table. Street parking can be a bit challenging but there are many Public Parking garages within walking distance. 6:45 pm on a Wednesday will give you a feeling of having the restaurant open just for you and your special occasion. As the night progresses they seem to have a healthy flow of guests. I was celebrating my birthday this evening! The host greeted up and sat us promptly... Our server was Monet. She was very friendly, gave great menu suggestions which made our experience more pleasant. The menu was limited but we managed to get a decent meal. We ordered the Seafood Pasta and Pork Chop. I enjoyed the pasta very much. The pork chop was juicy but nothing to write home about. For dessert ordered the Flourless Chocolate Cake which was lovely. We ordered Chardonnay by the glass. Overall my experience was decent and the service by Monet was probably the best part of our experience. I am undecided if I will be rushing to go back but not a bad experience. I do want to book a night stay to experience this Boutique Hotel and perhaps when I do I will try another dining experience.

Well I finally made my way to this beautiful exhibit , hotel and restaurant . I had a slow morning and decided to stop for breakfast . My omelette was cooked perfectly , my mimosas were great. They also allow you to walk through the exhibit with your drink , this was niccceee. The service was great , two staff members helped me . The front desk lady was super friendly and so was my waitress. Service was quick. I am excited to try dinner next . They also book events and dinners here. I actually was looking into booking a birthday dinner in the gallery for 10 and it was totally doable. Just beautiful !!!!

You know the drinks are good when the guests know the bartender by their first name. Ask for Amanda, she's happy to deliver hand crafted cocktails.

We enjoyed a date night at Glass Light in the Marriott, downtown Norfolk. We recommend parking at the attached Boush Street Garage for an easy walking path to the restaurant, or the hotel does offer valet. Our meals were the seafood pappardelle, with a rich, buttery sauce that perfectly complemented the mussels, clams, and shrimp. We also ordered the Berkshire pork chop, cooked to a tender and juicy medium. We sat further in the back near the kitchen, and that added a special touch. We got to see the different culinary creations as they came out. Every server was helpful and we didn't have to wait long for anything. Highly recommend!

After the Spring Wine Festival, my friends and I decided to stop by for dinner and check out some art. This place did not disappoint! The service was outstanding, the food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were to die for. I highly recommend this spot--especially for a date night!

    Christmas Eve Menu

So I realize this rating is will be at odds with others posted on OpenTable but this was a very disappointing Christmas Eve dinner. We love the property--hotel, bar and gallery. And each time we stopped for a cocktail at the bar, we told ourselves we really need to try the restaurant. Plus almost all the reviews were positive. Perhaps we should not have made a reservation on a special night like Christmas Eve. After moving here from (cuisine-centric) New Orleans in 2021 we've had 3 terrible dinners on Christmas Eve (Leone's, Byrd and Baldwin and now at Glass Lligh)t. This is, after all, a hotel restaurant but I have to admit we had higher hopes for the evening. We were early for our reservation and were seated right away. Our server was collegial and promptly took our cocktail orders. She returned 3 times asking if we were ready for our meal order. Maybe she knew something we didn't know. We had the cocktail, ordered a bottle of wine and finally ordered. It was a special menu and we had a good view of the kitchen. I'm no kitchen manager but it looked a little dysfunctional at times. Nearly 50 minutes later our appetizers came. That's nearly an hour. The soup was flavorful. And cold. When the server asked how things were, I was honest with her. (They took the soup off the bill although I didn't ask the to do so.) The entrees arrived nearly 45 minutes later. They were okay. And although visually appealing they were forgettable. The chicken lacked flavor and the prime rib, although tender, was a meager cut. For the price the dishes should have been spectacular. It seems the dinner had gone from bad to worse. Although we had originally order deserts we cancelled them because we didn't want to wait again for food. We had long ago finished our wine. The restaurant wasn't packed the entire duration of our visit. It isn't very large and it seems that a well managed kitchen could have plated the appetizers and entrees more efficiently. And it wasn't just our table, it appeared the everyone else was waiting for food as well. I could tell the server was embarrassed about the delays in service as she stayed completely away during the last hour. (It did not affect her tip, however.) I wasn't sure who the front-of-the-house manager was, perhaps a young well dressed African American male who seemed to wander the floor. I never once saw him stop at a table to check on diners. Not once. It seemed he was a little distracted by his mobile phone to be bothered. Maybe they had a bad night. Regrettably, so did we. And we had to pay for it.

The first time we went here, it was a wonderful dining experience, with perfectly prepared culinary creations. We went again, but by the second time, we'd already explored more of Norfolk and realized that it was a bit pricey compared to some other wonderful dining establishments in the area. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE RESTAURANT AND THE HOTEL. The glass museum is a fun and common feature, but the HOTEL IS TERRIBLE! Do NOT STAY THERE.

The Perry Glass Gallery is next door to the restaurant and free to explore

I wish I had taken more (and better ) pictures of the food, but everything was so delicious that I dove right in without thinking. We did the "chef's tasting," so they seated us at this countertop that overlooks the kitchen. It was really cool to get to see the chefs at work, plus the head sous chef, the executive chef, and the pastry chef each told us things about each dish as it was placed in front of us, which was also really nice! I felt like a VIP with the service we received, and the head sous chef even sent out extra rice crisps for us for our tuna tartare, which was really nice of him. He suggested we take a walk around the gallery between two of the courses, and we decided to go between the third and fourth course to try to make some room in our stomachs for the fourth and fifth courses. Everything was much more filling than I'd anticipated. The gallery is free, and it has a lot of really cool pieces, many of which look completely different when viewed from different perspectives, which is neat. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about each of the wines that came with the wine pairing add-on option, and she kept our water glasses filled and replaced our silverware for each new course, which was an unexpected and fancy feeling touch. She also reassured us that it was absolutely acceptable for us to take some leftovers home, and she packaged them up really nicely for us, too. I think my favorite dish was the duck confit, even though I couldn't finish it because I was so full. The duck was SO flavorful, and the crispy potato rösti cubes were a great textural contrast on the plate next to the melt-in-your-mouth red cabbage and squash rounds. The cipollini onion slices were also a unique and delicious addition. We had an epic night and an absolutely delicious dinner. It was such a special experience that I'd gladly do again!

We tried the Chef's Counter tasting experience for a special occasion, and it was a fantastic time! You have to call ahead to reserve, but it's well worth the effort. First off, the food was on another level. We were blown away by the presentation and detail put into each of the 5 courses. The chefs combine a lot of interesting flavors together to create some very unique dishes. The standout for me was the seared scallop, which combined apple, pickled carrots, and cumin. We also enjoyed getting to chat with the chef as he came around on each dish and explained his influences behind them. Overall a great experience!

This place keeps its vibe! Friday night cocktails were amazing and the bartenders made our just over 21 guests feel welcome at a craft cocktail Very approachable and the drinks amazing too

This was my first visit but definitely not my last. From the servers, chefs and ambience this was an amazing experience. The beverages, and dishes were top tier and served with expert timing. My friends and I truly enjoyed being able to meet and watch the chefs as they prepared the dishes. We will definitely be returning!

A pleasant experience before a show. We stopped in for a dinner before heading to Wells Theater. The staff, on all fronts, was very welcoming and knowledgeable, and when they didn't have the answer, they went and got the answer quickly. The food was delicious. We ordered a single small plate and a main dish for each of us. In retrospect, we would've ordered an additional small plate. It is an experience, being amongst all the beautiful art. Would definitely recommend for a date night.

    Scallop dish was divine!

Food 10/10 flavor! The service amazing!!! Our server was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and the dietary restrictions. She was also very knowledgeable about all of the vegan options for my friend and all of the adult beverages! We had such a great time. Will definitely be going back! The ambience was spot on as well.

The atmosphere is really cute and artistic as there is a mural and a consistent vibe throughout the restaurant. Our service was definitely not the best as we have received being that the hostess was also the bartender, waitress, and working the entire floor by also going in to the kitchen. We ordered : Black Spice Wings - Deliciously seasoned and not overly salty to which I have experienced far more often than not. These are our favorite to what we had ordered. Parmesan Crusted Chicken - This dish was oddly wet upon arrival? It seems as though this dish was prepared and/or frozen ahead of time then baked. Considering the hardened ends of rice that the chicken was stuffed with. Braised Short Ribs - The meat in this was extremely tough to which only having received a fork in a napkin was not helpful in the slightest. The mashed potatoes it was accompanied by were also not seasoned in the slightest. I would like to note that it was incredibly noticeable how we were not put in regards of our waitress as she did not check in on our table once we had received any of our items. As the night went on and the restaurant emptied , the singular waitress seated another couple directly next to us, which would not have been an issue had we received the same type of care as the rest. We also did not receive any type of napkins or silverware until asked , especially once receiving finger foods which I find that very odd.

The service is friendly and relaxed. I never feel rushed despite how busy they get. In terms of food, I have to admit it's pretty average. I recommend it for drinks and appetizers or a late bite. Every dinner I've had has been a bit lackluster. Not bad, but not great or memorable either. I tried the blackened chicken tacos this week which were a bit dry and I found the cucumber salad a strange side dish for tacos. Also had a smash burger which was overcooked. That said, the bar bites and apps were good! Mozzarella sticks, wings, fries, and dips are satisfying. All in all, I call it a 3.5/5. It's a fun spot that I continue to enjoy with my colleagues!

It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. We were able to check in with one of the party host for an extended happy hour instead of it being until 7 pm with our yellow wristbands it was extended until 9 p.m. Drink specials only! Happy hour included draft specials, Margaritas were $5 and well drinks I believe for $4 and wine was $4 as well no food specials. This restaurant only features tapas so it's basically meant to come: chill, take a bite of something and just enjoy the atmosphere. I'm not sure if they play music but I can see where as they would push the lounge table and chair's back or take up the chairs and tables and have an open dance floor So excited to see how the night life will be in here. We arrived a little after 5pm... traffic was crazy on Waterside Dr. The atmosphere oozes high energy!! We sat at the bar (large bar) where our bartender was Katharine AKA Kate and she made us some grrrrreat Margaritas!! She's legit see her if you're in here!! The restrooms are on the outside of the restaurant so it's a short walk. If you want to dine on the patio you can do that as well. The Baja tacos which I had were absolutely good I didn't know they had onions on them but other than that they were still good. The harbor sliders they were very good as well with a handful of chips that I believe are homemade... cost $50 so you can't beat that looking forward. TVs are positioned around the perimeter of the club. And there are two bars located inside this club. The wait staff seems a little scattered but they managed to care for all. Parking is available via: the garages, meter parking. The food did take a lonnnnng to come. I'm not not sure why. While time was passing by we were high off of the energy in the club! Tapas and a full bar can be found here... mostly seafood. So much enthusiasm and high energy in the atmosphere where as time went by super fast but still the food should have came out a little bit sooner than what it did.

The space is intimate and cozy with side-by-side counter seating right in front of the open kitchen -- perfect for watching the chefs at work and adds to the whole experience. We started with the ensalata di Luce and it was fresh and flavorful, a great balance to the rich mains. The pollo con strati was perfectly cooked and the lobster gnocchi was phenomenal -- rich, indulgent, and definitely worth ordering a side of sourdough bread for dipping in the sauce! To finish, the cheesecake with berries was a delightful end to the meal -- creamy and just sweet enough without being heavy. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the ambiance complemented the food beautifully. This place is small and fills up fast, so reservations are a very good idea, but snagging a seat at the counter made our night feel special and lively. Overall -- truly one of the best Italian meals in Norfolk if you're looking for great food, a cozy atmosphere, and a memorable dinner. Always my fave & we will definitely be back!

I was told that there was no availability for the evening and I should try to walk in for bar seats. Upon arrival, the bar was not busy so we took three seats and noticed that the table behind us never got sat the entire time we were there. To me, this is a pretentious restaurant that falls below the bar in every way. Second time dining here and would not return because service from Branice C. was a C- in her caring that she was even at work, to the upcharges for extra marinara sauce to go with the greasy overbreaded calamari appetizer. The oil saturated flavor was almost nauseating. Please change the oil in your fryer! Prices were not excessive but the upcharge for using a credit card was. Who really walks around with $300 cash in pocket to pay for dinner without a credit card fee. JUST ADD IT IN YOUR MENU PRICES!!!! The Boar Ragu was truly not boar but probably run of the mill ground beef and the four tiny slices of steak on the Caesar salad was a joke. There are so many other lovely restaurants along this block that this is a skip right past for the future.

It was a little chilly tonight, but I imagine the outdoor seating would be perfect on a warmer evening. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily we were seated within seconds. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it's thoughtfully designed and perfect for a cozy date night. Every employee who passed by greeted us, which made the atmosphere feel especially welcoming. We started with the octopus, served with potato foam, pickled pear, and chorizo. For entrées, he ordered the duck and I had the pork bolognese. Both dishes were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We also ordered drinks. I do wish they had come out a bit earlier so we could enjoy them sooner, but the selection was impressive. We chose the bartender's choice, which was a really fun experience. The waitress asks a few questions, and based on your answers the bartender creates a drink they think you'll love. We were too full for dessert, though they did offer four different options. Overall, we were really happy we tried this restaurant and will definitely be back.

Inside, there are a small number of tables and a bar. We had the crispy octopus to start. It was cooked perfectly, was tender and had great flavor. For my entree I had the halibut. It was slightly overcooked (a little dry), but the portion was a good size and flavors were nice. I don't remember what the dessert we had was called, but it is the reason for -1 star. It was chocolate something but the flavor was just weird, texture was not great either. They gave me a complimentary small piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream as well for my birthday, but that was not good either. Cake was dry and ice cream tasted watery and the texture was off. This was disappointing because I love dessert, but probably wouldn't risk ordering it here again.
