    Lobster Bites
    Kimberly P.

I came here on a Sunday during their opening weekend for a blogger meetup. The staff at Waterside was aware of our visit and gave us a tour of the entire building prior to us sitting down to eat. They asked us to order first and then go for the tour so our food would be ready when we returned. Unfortunately in doing so, when we returned the food was cold so that was disappointed. There are 11 food items on their menu, and unfortunately they were out of about half of them. So we ordered Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mini Lobster Rolls, Coconut Shrimp, Lobster Bites, and the Harbor Club Sliders. The hummus tasted exactly how you would expect it, so I wont speak on that. The lobster bites were plump, and not heavily fried with too much batter. There was promise to the sliders, which were topped with caramelized onions, and came with a side of chips, but since they were cold it wasn't satisfying to eat. I tried their food again at a catered event PBR where they had kabobs and steak sliders. They were delicious and I wish that some of those items are featured on the regular menu. I definitely want to go back and try what I originally wanted to try which was the Ahi Tuna Stack and Lobster Tacos and Crab Roll Stack. Its been a few months so I would hope that they have since improved.

During my visit to The Harbor Club there were 2 major parties (one wedding) taking over the entire outside balcony. Lucky we are friendly people and after chatting up the grandmother of the bride we eventually crashed the party and made our way onto the balcony to enjoy the view of the Harbor. I sat at the bar with my friend and had a few drinks and appetizers. The bartender was nice enough but service was extremely slow due to the big parties . We ordered: * An Old fashioned (bourbon drink) the ice Cube was in the shape of a skull. Drink was made well! *Lobster Tacos- Yum! * Tuna stack. Was really good. I would order it again. A few of the chips were a tad soggy. When we asked for a few more the waitress basically said she would try but alluded to the fact it probably would t happen... and it didn't! The lack of attempt was a big customer service No No for me. However, I'll try them again. ~

Spacious and charming. Very clean beachy feel. Drinks were great and food looked amazing. Friendly staff, can't wait to go back and see it in its full glory at night!

It is on the 5th Floor of the Hilton Norfolk Main, and it is a massive venue with lots of indoor and outdoor space, with a beautiful fire pit in the outdoor area for chilly nights. I first went for lunch on 04/27/2026, and it was open seating. Our service was pleasant, quick and very courteous. I had the buffalo chicken spring rolls, which were so yummy and I also had some of the Philly steak grain fries. I also attended a private company event/dinner on that same evening. For that, the food was catered and was equally delicious -- but had some things you will not find on the regular menu. Again, an overall great visit x2, and I would definitely return again. The bar is located right in the center of it all and there are so many beers on tap plus fun cocktails! I visit the area on business and whenever I do, I always make a stop at Grain due to its convenient location in our usual Hilton, plus we really do have such fun here! The service is friendly and relaxed. I never feel rushed despite how busy they get. In terms of food, I have to admit it's pretty average. I recommend it for drinks and appetizers or a late bite. Every dinner I've had has been a bit lackluster. Not bad, but not great or memorable either. I tried the blackened chicken tacos this week which were a bit dry and I found the cucumber salad a strange side dish for tacos. Also had a smash burger which was overcooked. That said, the bar bites and apps were good! Mozzarella sticks, wings, fries, and dips are satisfying. All in all, I call it a 3.5/5. It's a fun spot that I continue to enjoy with my colleagues!

It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. The Creole sauce offers a restrained heat, balanced by a layered depth of flavor that speaks to careful preparation rather than excess. The shrimp are properly cooked, retaining a delicate snap, while the stone-ground grits provide a well-seasoned, creamy foundation. Each component is thoughtfully prepared, and together they form a cohesive dish that feels both composed and satisfying--an authentic nod to Cajun tradition without unnecessary embellishment. Gershwin's stands as a reliable fixture in the downtown dining scene. For those seeking a refined take on Southern and New Orleans classics, it is well worth the visit--and a strong example of the quality found within Norfolk's local restaurant community.

If this restaurant was in an area that was even moderately competitive they would have been put out of business. The bar seems adequate but it was almost like they stopped serving food and forgot to tell anyone. I swear I'm not making this up, this actually happened: 1) it took over 2.5 hours for the entrees to come out. One came out so early that by the time the second set came out they were already done. 2) The only appetizer that was ordered that actually came out, arrived after the entree was done. 3) One person's order had to be changed 5x because the waiter kept coming back to say they're out. When his pork chop finally arrived, it was undercooked and not eatable. 4) Nothing was offered in any way as a comp, nor any real apology If you go, be wary. There is no way they were this thoroughly incompetent in every single aspect of the food services industry without practice.

When arrived looks pretty much like former restaurant less decorations. Two groups seated about eleven persons. Bar was empty. Slowly filled two more tables and three or four at the bar. About 20 persons in total. Most of the visit, only single waitress serving tables and bar as long with busing tables. Kitchen is semi open. Only one person could be send in kitchen. Two persons only seemed understaffed for near full menu service and bar. No bus person, kitchen help, runner, or dish washer seen. Menu Asian fusion for lack of better term. Ordered scallion pancakes and spicy spring rolls. Service slow.... After ordering. Pancakes are one of my favorite snacks. Order portion size was large for appetizer. Scallion pancakes should be chewy with a flakey crust, savory with an onion punch from the scallions. These were chewy with no flakiness at all. Sort of like a flour tortilla with onion in the mix. The dip was like extra salty soy sauce spiked with raw ginger, strong and almost inedible. Then about five minutes later spring rolls arrived. Piping hot then down hill. First impression,, over cooked and greasy. Did not appear to have been drained. two small puddles of oil in dish below rolls. Sort of cross between lumpia and cha gio with appeal of neither. Noodles and meat wrapped together and fried. Favors muddled and greasy. Dipping sauce not much either. As a person who has sat through many food handlers permit classes. I witnessed a no-no with the waitress. Concerning.... It appears that disjointed service front to back needs improvement. Like location and ideas but without consistent execution it will likely fail in long run. Will be back?? Not likely Never say never. If still open this time next year?? Plus next block up there is very good ramen/Filipino/Vet place.
