Had high tea and loved it. The whole place is a vibe! The gift shop next door is cute, walking around was great.

Tea at the Raleigh Room has really gone down in quality and service the last 6 months or so. They had one waiter for SIX tables which resulted in the waiter having to do quick loops through each table. If you needed anything outside of when he came by, you had to flag him down. There was a manager that probably could have helped but he just stood behind the bar the entire time basically doing nothing. The waiter also poured the water for the tea too high and too fast which resulted in a cup full of leaves... when I drew his attention to this, he told me that the leaves would sink and when I said I'm not drinking this he said well I'll bring you another glass like he was doing me a favor. At the end of service the credit card machine went down and the solution was that everyone would just have to wait until the machine came back online. After 30 minutes of waiting it was still not back up so we had to fill out slips of paper with our credit card information ( which doesn't feel secure at all). The food was fine but the scones are definitely not scones...they taste more like a cookie than anything else. The sandwiches had been sitting out on a table uncovered prior to us arriving which made things that should have been cold room temperature and the bread had gone stale. My total with a glass of champagne, taxes, and mandatory 20% tip ( that they add on to the bill) was $64 which is exorbitant for mid food, a cup full of tea leaves, and less than stellar service.

    My Birthday Arrangement

Afternoon Tea for my birthday! Had high expectations for this tea I was not impressed. We arrived early and had to wait to be seated. We asked if we could order anything to snack on or a drink and were told we had to wait until we were seated. We were also informed they don't serve food till 3pm. Once we were seated service was very slow we waited quite some time before the server came over. She explained the tea to us and brought us some water. Once she came back to pour our tea there was some issues with pouring she over poured and got quite a bit of tea in the glass. One of the glasses had to be dumped out and repoured. I honestly expected more from a high end restaurant. Not once did the server acknowledge the birthday. You could clearly tell that there was a birthday at our table there was a flower arrangement my friend gave me with a birthday balloon. People walking thru the restaurant said happy birthday. But not once did our server say anything. The tea was good. Some of the finger sandwiches were good. The desserts were okay. We were not too impressed with any of the offerings. I was looking forward to macrons but there none on our tier. There was some sort of chocolate cake that had white icing that was all dried out it was not visibly pleasing at all. The room is always decorated so beautifully! They had gorgeous flower arrangements! We have been several times and it always seems that the service is not up to par. I like the live music they offer I would consider going back for that! I probably would not go back for a tea! If I could recommend one thing please be more attentive to your guests. It was very annoying that they automatically add the gratuity and the serve didn't deserve 20%.

Excessive tea leaves in the tea that was cold before we could get milk. Never told a tea bag was an option to avoid this.

Had out of town family for a baby shower afternoon tea. It was so bad I was embarrassed. I've had better service at Waffle House. The server, Ashley, not only had no idea what she was doing, she was extremely rude as well. Told our 85 year old mother "that's how I was taught, Sugar" when she pointed out how badly the tea leaves were falling in the cup. Then said "it's right in front of you" when one of us asked for something else. Had to actually get up and go ask for milk while Ashley played on her phone in the corner. Finally had to find the manager who replaced her but by that time it was too late. We are locals and wanted to show off the crown jewel of Virginia Beach and instead our event was completely ruined. To add insult, the bill came with an automatic 20% gratuity that clearly stated was to be added to parties of six or more. Our party was five but the undeserved gratuity was added anyway. Never again, stay away.

We were here on a Thursday evening which also happened to be Ladies Night. They had specials on champagne but I was drinking a glass of red wine so I can't be certain of the prices. The vibe is a super cool lounge/bar with wing back chairs, chaise lounges, black & white floor, portraits on the walls, a piano and large bar. There was live music by Ariana and they went excellent. Pretty awesome people watching, too. There were patrons of all types and ages so it seems like there was something for everyone.

Ashley at the Raleigh Room bar adds to the already amazing experience of the Raleigh Room. Incredibly attentive and makes an excellent drink! She made me a Ghost Cat and added her vanilla cold foam. Best cocktail I've ever had!

I can never go wrong coming to the Raleigh Room at the Cavalier. This week was oysters and champs. It was just calling my name. They held it at the garden. Today they served grilled oyster, Crispy Oyster, Oyster shooters and a Chef Jose walked around shucking oyster at your table. With 3 different pairs of champagne. Was a lot of fun with live music and good company. They have Valet if you don't wish to park on the streets. The door man is super friendly. Robert loves taking pictures of you by the entrance where a huge center sits. He will get the angle to your liking. They have many events going on. Check out the calendar. Can't wait for the next one.

Our group had a wonderful time here! We each had the afternoon tea with a glass of champagne. The chicken salad croissant and open faced cucumber were both hits in our group. The rockfish was too fishy for my friends, but I enjoyed it. We were not a fan of the ham croissant, it's sort of a pate pork. I do wish you could have more than one type of tea, but you can have as much of your chosen tea as you'd like. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I will definitely be back!

    French press segfredo coffee. Yum.

I've been here several times to people-watch, listen to the live music, have some drinks, and for high tea. Recently, we stopped in on a Friday night at 10pm and were able to sweet-talk the bartender into serving us a sorbet (the kitchen closes AT 10 so we asked exactly as they closed) and decaf french press coffee. The sorbet was the best I've ever had in my life - three flavors in one bowl: raspberry, pineapple and mango I believe. SO good. Texture was perfect, we loved it. The coffee was also Segfredo Italian blend and was hot, delicious and served on classy china. Live music here is excellent and the decor, ambiance and vibe cannot be beat. The beautiful old hotel oozes charm and elegance and the whimsical art on the walls of the Raleigh Room adds to the experience. You can roam around and find a seat in the outer halls, overlooking the pools, or on some of their comfy plush couches inside. High tea is also very good and a fun experience if you like to do that sort of thing. Very much like the high teas in English with finger sandwiches, scones, and sweets and your choice of tea.

I had a delightful surprise when I discovered they had high tea at the historic Cavalier Hotel in the Raleigh room in Virginia Beach. It is by reservation only and the cost is $35 for regular tea or $48 if you opt for tea with a cocktail. I arrived and was seated to a pre-set table of my own. Beautiful music was being played by a pianist and bass player. I choose the Hibiscus energy tea with a great assortment of goodies. The food offered an array of choices and all were very tasty. I loved the fine tea set. It was very relaxing and enchanting atmosphere. The service was great. I highly recommend this to those who can appreciate it. Dress nice but hat not required. And the offer valet parking for $5 plus tip.

I had a very nice afternoon with my Yelp friends yesterday - Afternoon Tea in the Raleigh Room. What a nice hotel and atmosphere. I enjoyed the tea and all of the finger foods from sandwiches to desserts! The piano playing was very nice and relaxing, too. The main thing I would change is the seating. The chairs with the low tables are not very comfortable for eating or conversing. Maybe some side tables for each person may help so one can sit back and enjoy/relax. Our waitress was wonderful - attentive and very friendly. Check them out!

At the cavalier, we checked out the Raleigh room for drinks after dinner. The place has a nice vibe and had live music. The place wasn't overcrowded like many others in the area which was pretty nice. The decor was nice and relaxing. The windows have a nice view of the well-manicured front lawn. The drinks were nothing to write home about. They were out of two wines that we wanted so we ended up ordering whatever they had available- disappointed in the selection available. If you're looking for ambiance and a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to go.

Such a great variety. Fresh fruit of all kinds, french toast, waffles and chicken, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage , scrabbled eggs, quiche, house potatoes, deviled eggs, and a charcuterie board . On the sweet side they had mini cinnamon rolls, danish, brownies, cookies and cupcakes with the galentine theme. They had chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries with pretty pink food grade glitter. Plenty to choose from and plenty to eat. We loved it. In order to get into the speakeasy it is tickets only. The interior design emanates speakeasy. Every detail of design was carefully curated with the utmost intention. Staff was fantastic. Even though it was a brunch buffet, staff were attentive, friendly and frequently checked on all tables to address any needs or questions. The lovely staff were genuinely happy to take photos for us without any prompting. The flow of the buffet was perfect, and the food presentation was delightfully charming! There was a photo back drop available and the decor was so festive, and classy yet simple. The decor wasn't over the top , it was just the right amount of decorations to add pizzazz and celebrate with festive spirit. We all had a very enjoyable time celebrating Galentine's day! It was a wonderful event in an equally wonderful space. The music was on point, as well as the volume level. It was loud enough to enjoy the music, yet low enough that you could hold a conversation without screaming to hear each other. It was very peaceful and even if you don't choose a booth, the tables on the opposite side of the bar do provide some privacy due to the small partitions. The variety of food offered was just right (not overwhelmingly too many options and not too little options) and the food was tasty. It was an excellent first impression that left me excited to await what other fun events they will hold in the future.

May I recommend a possible bungalow rental, just like your igloos? Can you tell Summer is on my mind? Sky Bar is one of my favorite places to go. You get an igloo reserved for up to 4 of your closes friends, and the igloo comes with: -personal server -decorated, social-distanced space -two heaters -blankets you can take home -waters -and honestly so many picture perfect opportunities.
