Update (April 2026) Came back on a Sunday around 3PM, and the service did a full 180. We were seated quickly, and our server Erin was on it. Great attitude, attentive, and things actually came out in a timely manner. Love to see it. I ordered a mojito and they did not play in my face. Made it properly with club soda instead of Sprite, so points were definitely earned there. Now... the food? Yeah, we need to talk. We ordered the brunch special, oxtails with biscuits and gravy. First of all, I'm almost positive that was pot roast in an oxtail costume. Let's start there. The biscuits? Giving frozen-from-a-bag, baked a little too long for good measure. But the real villain of the plate was that gravy. Because what do you mean this clearly didn't come from the meat? It tasted like it came straight out of a jar... probably store brand at that. And I'm just confused because gravy is literally one of the easiest things to make if you already cooked the meat. Why are we cutting corners here? So yes, we were seated quickly, treated well, and the drinks were solid. But the food? Absolutely not. Well, I was disappointed to say the least. It was my first time trying this restaurant and it wasn't the greatest. My friend and I went for brunch. As soon as I walked in I could sense I wasn't going to have a great experience. The waiter took me to my table but did not come back for 20 min. Another waiter came and finally took our orders and blamed the wait on being under staffed. I originally ordered the blackened salmon as it is a Caribbean restaurant however; they didn't have it. The waiter never came back to ask me what I wanted as a replacement so I had to ask another waiter to place my order. The food was sub par. The salmon did not have any seasoning neither did the tots. I ordered a mimosa flight which took a long time to come out and there were only 3 mimosas. We decided to order hookah which took 45 min to be brought to our table. The ambiance was nice. It was decorated like a tiki bar that would find on an island. They had a DJ that was in charge of the karaoke which was fun. The vibes were nice. The best two things about this place were the ambience and cocktails. It gives a fun beachy vibe, nice music and offers hookah if that's your thing. I had a mango margarita, it was quite tasty and came in a cute tiki glass with a light. The music was fun and not too loud. The host and waitresses were all super friendly and accommodating. We did not enjoy the food, the seafood that came on the nachos was delicious, but that's it. I wouldn't recommend the birria empanadas, oxtail Mac, regular Mac or Big Island Mon Burger. The birria empanadas did not have much flavor and were quite dry; the oxtail Mac came out cold twice and just wasn't good. The side of Mac didn't have any flavor and was simply noodles and cheese. The Big Island Burger didn't come out with any of the listed toppings, it came as a bare patty and bread. I've seen others online enjoy this place, if I decide to go again I will likely drink only or try some other menu items. read more

So I went around 1030p on Friday night. They had a DJ and I figured out it was karaoke by the singing lol. We were sat at a booth which was cute. It had decorative pillows and the ambiance was a vibe. It was 4 of us so we ordered drinks and food. I initially ordered a margarita. I had to send it back after the first sip because it tastes like sprite and sour mix. I then ordered the Peach Bourbon smash which was better but still just ok. I also ordered a shrimp and crab empanada. 1 was $8 which was initially interesting but the taste and size were good!! It was packed with filling and the size was not too bad. Unfortunately, my cousin's companion did not enjoy her curry chicken. I did taste the chicken and it tasted like the curry vegetables were ladled over the chicken instead of the chicken being cooked in the curry sauce because the chicken was very bland. But the piece of corn I ate was flavor-packed!! She also sent back the oxtail Mac and cheese. It was gooey and packed with cheese. I didn't see or even taste any oxtail in the bite I took and it just lacked flavor. I tasted a bit of the jerk chicken slider and a little bit of the oxtail meat from the oxtail taco my cousin ordered. It was OK, just lacked a balance of flavor to me. I also ordered the shrimp and crab nachos. That was the star of the show for me!! It was curry crab and shrimp. All of the layers of seafood and cheese with the freshness of the Romaine lettuce. Those nachos were amazing. I would go back just for those alone!! If you're looking for a good vibe on a Friday night, definitely check this place out! Came for Brunch, stayed for karaoke. On a recent visit to Va Beach stopped in for a few bites. I had the oxtail and birria tacos. Very delicious. Nicely sized and seasoned. I also had the shrimp and crab empanada. Word to the wise, this comes out piping hot! Be careful biting into it. Otherwise, it's absolutely deelish! I also had the braised cabbage. Savory and nicely cooked but, it had a huge cabbage butt in it. Too thick to eat. They do have happy hr starting at 3 with a host of options to eat and drink. This spot also offers hookah. Ambiance is an upbeat, party vibe. Service was a bit slow, but maybe it was due to it being packed. One downside, they gotta work on their ventilation. Went here Sunday around 4 pm to try out their happy hour menu. Parking was a little difficult to get. We had to wait a little minute for someone to come out in order to even get a spot. Once we got inside, I'm really not a fan of super tight spaces and that's exactly what the seating is inside. We were able to ask for one of the tables that was in the back corner of the restaurant, off by its lonesome away from being close to everyone/in the midst of heavy foot traffic, so that was alright. It was also karaoke going on which was pretty funny to watch. Atmosphere including the seating arrangements I'll give an 8/10. We ordered off the happy hour menu. I got the honey jerk wings (6/10). I was expecting some spice which they didn't have at all, decent flavor. I also got the shrimp and crab empanadas (10/10) very very yummy. We also had the chipotle wings (9/10) they had a good flavor and spice. For drinks we had a Crush and White claw, both were good. In total everything for happy hour was $35. Not bad. okay, soooo ... it's a lot to unpack here. i came here for a birthday brunch. reservations were made for 1pm. we did not get seated until almost 2 (which defeats the purpose of a reservation). come to find out, i think a cook quit, and there were only two back there. first red flag. we finally get seated. our server was cool as heck. but the did warn us it was a lot happening in the background and they were short staffed. we placed our drink orders. no lie, we waited between 30-45 minutes to get our drinks. server came back and told us the bartender quit, so they had to get someone to make our drinks. then we placed our orders. given the circumstances, the food came out quicker than expected. i ordered a frittata. it was .., okay. i will say the karaoke was a fun touch. and the music was good. but i probably won't be going back. read more

I stopped by Central Shore on Saturday night to grab some drinks and had an enjoyable time. I absolutely loved the vibrant colors and the tropical decor of the interior! We were greeted as we walked in and thankfully, it wasn't crowded so we were able to find seating at an open booth. We scanned the QR code to access the menu and the server told us they'd be back to take our order. Since our server never came back to our table and we were just ordering drinks, we ordered them from the bar, which wasn't a problem. I ordered the Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita and my friend decided on the Strawberry Mojito. The bartender made my drink quickly and it was great but it took some time for the bartender to make my friend's drink. A few minutes go by and the server actually walks over with both of our drinks, so I let her know I had already received mine. Since both drinks looked similar, she accidentally gave my friend the wrong drink. He had to walk back over to the bar and replace the Margarita with the Mojito but unfortunately, didn't like it at all and neither did I. It tasted like a very sweet, strawberry drink with a hint of mint and rum. The bartender observed the mix up and brought over some Painkiller Shooters 'on the house' for the mishap, which was very thoughtful. Overall, the DJ was great and the staff were very nice. I would give 0 stars if I could. We arrived at 5:22 for a 5:30 reservation made via Open Table for 6 people, and we were NEVER greeted. This, in spite of the staff working behind the bar seeing us, staring at us while whispering to one another, and then trying to avoid making eye contact. The music was obnoxiously loud, I'm talking louder* than your typical bassy club music. After walking to the bar and gaining the attention of the self-proclaimed "manager", we were finally sat at 5:42. We walked out at 6 pm after waiting and never being assisted. The staff was a mix of ages and ethnicities, as was our crowd. The two older caucasian people who were initially waiting behind us received seating and service immediately. I inquired with the staff about why this was the case, and was told, "we are short staffed and have a million things happening at once." Still no menus for all of us but we made it work with the 2 menus. 45 mins later still no order taken. We asked 4 separate times and nobody came . OVER AN HOUR LATER STILL NO SERVICE. I'm here thinking we are a large party in the middle of the restaurant and still we were being ignored. Servers are taking everyone's order around us, and even the party next to us when they got there way after we did. We got seated at 6:30 and FINALLY at 7:50 someone came to take our orders. AN HOUR AND 20 MINS WASTED. NO APOLOGY NO EXPLANATION. But at that point we were so dissapointed we just paid for our drinks. We tried to make reservations online but there wasn't any available. Came for brunch and we sat at the outside bar area due to no room being available inside. There were fans on either side of the bar and it was covered which helped some with the heat. My friend and I got the "bottomless" mimosa option, which was a good price. $25 for your own bottle of champagne & your choice of juice. One you finish the bottle additional mimosas are regular price, but it took us quite a while to finish the bottles we had. There were plenty of tasty options on the menu. I chose the steak chilaquiles and my friend got the salmon and eggs. My entree was good, they did leave off the avocado and when I mentioned it to the bartender, she stated it's under the pile of chips . So I used a plate to move chips to show in fact there was no avocado. After seeing that I was correct she went and asked the kitchen for avocado. All I can say is, I should have tried this spot sooner! Every recommendation and influencer video has been spot on! Central Shore delivers on the eats, drinks, service and atmosphere. The night we visited was Ladies Night. We caught the tail end of happy hour and stayed through ladies night. Our group was the largest party in the dining room while we were there and they took such good care of us. Everyone was friendly including other guests. Our server was ON IT!!!! Taking orders by memory and making recommendations that did not disappoint. This is my new go to when at the beach, near the beach, thinking of the beach or passing through the beach! Most memorable was the pot liquor for both the cabbage and collards- absolutely toe curling you hear me!?!?! The Rasta pasta also gets an honorable mention for the all the eyes rolling in the back of heads it caused.
