Truly had the worst experience ever at CP Shuckers. I've been here many times and have always had a great experience beyond this past weekend. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer and didn't receive it until way after our dinner came out. The table in front of us were seated way after us and received their calamari and I'm assuming was suppose to be ours. Our server took our order and didn't write anything down. There may have been less mistakes had she did because we ordered a lot. I normally order the snow crabs but went for the steamed shrimp this time and that was the best part of my dinner. I also ordered a side of broccoli and it was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The menu online had pasta on the kids menu but they didn't have it on the menu in the restaurant. We ordered our kid the grilled cheese instead and it was so buttery and delicious. We would highly recommend for toddlers. After our server dropped the meals off, she didn't come back to check on us or ask how things were until the end. I ordered the crab cake meal and it didn't come out until the end of dinner. The house made chips were very mid. My husband ordered medium hot wings on the grill and it came out dryer than the Sahara dessert. The server said the grill dries it out but you would think there would be some remnant of a hot sauce on there. In the past we ordered the old bay wings and they were good but we would not recommend the hot wings on the grill. They were not good at all. Overall we probably will not come back unless it's for the snow crabs and we will request for a different server. This establishment is more of a bar scene than a restaurant you take your family to. read more

We sat in the dining room area. Our server was nice. There was a DJ and a live trivia game that night. So it got a little rambunctious. One gentleman was escorted out of the bar area when he had too much to drink. I had the tuna steak sandwich and it was cooked just how I like it. I also had a rum and Diet Coke and water. Not too impressed during my first visit. The menu is different from the beach location and is missing most of the key things I love. No wedge salad, no simple protein and veggie entree options with just grilled chicken. They have seafood options but no real options with just grilled chicken for more clean eating. They have some side salads you can add grilled chicken to - I asked if I could get the buffalo fried chicken sandwich grilled and I was told no. Although they have grilled chicken for salad add protein. I didn't really see anything else bc I didn't want chicken pasta or red meat or heavy bread. Kinda frustrating. In the end - I ended up getting the Sesame Salmon bowl which had rice, cucumber salad, slaw, broccoli, tomatoes, pickled red onions and a delicious piece of salmon smothered in sweet sauce. It was good but I didn't want more fish bc that's all I'd been eating all week. They have an outdoor patio area out front with a nice fire pit but it was so smoky I couldn't sit out there. It should be non-smoking so everyone can enjoy it. Inside is much larger than expected and the tables and booths are nice. Large bar that was super crowded. It's very loud inside - even in the main part. Low ceiling or something. Hard to hear others talk. Service was excellent and our server was super friendly and did a great job taking care of us. I was impressed that they had a lot of non-alcoholic drinks front and center on the menu. Like 6 or more and they all sounded good. A mango one, a blackberry tea one, etc etc. Rare for a bar and appreciated by someone who has never drank alcohol and usually gets the raw end of the deal at places like this. was talking to a buddy and got on the conversation of bad food and that conversation reminded me of this disgrace of an establishment, order a chicken sandwich and the thing was overcooked with no seasoning and hard bun, also got a side of chips that were literally burnt and no salt, how do you mess up chips. the service was whatever dude barely checked on us, wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. read more

Just in case no one is aware!!!! There is a memorial near the restrooms. There is a shot glass on top of it, but please DO NOT move it. If you don't pay attention to it, it just looks like someone's being rude and not bringing their glass back where it's supposed to go, but it's part of the memorial! They won't tell you that! They'll just make sure you know when you try to return the glass that doesn't belong. They need to put a plaque so that no one messes with it (or maybe even super glue the shot glass so it can't be picked up???) It's a respect thing, as ANYONE would understand. However, if you don't know who this person is, they (the patrons AND their extremely unprofessional staff) will tear you apart. GOOD LUCK!!!! read more

Hadn't ever eaten at this location before and only eaten at their beach location once. Was craving seafood. Boiled shrimp had zero flavor and was served with OIL. Not butter! Have never seen that before. Very gross. The she crab soup was chunky with undercooked vegetables and very little crab. Not seasoned either. The ranch ordered with a side salad was thicker than mayonnaise and also chunky. The only tolerable part of the meal was the 1/2 tuna sandwich which was seasoned well. We sat in the bar area which was also a mistake as the bar was filled with a bunch of townies who had no problem turning and coughing toward our table. The waitress was very nice and accommodating, but was the only one working in there so service was slow. We had been curious to try this restaurant as we were craving seafood of some kind. We won't be making that mistake again. For this being a beach town...the seafood around here is TERRIBLE. read more

Last night I witnessed another patron verbally abuse his mother at the bar. Nobody intervened. Not the bartenders, waitresses, or numerous security guards. He was very loud and aggressive and kept slamming his hands, his phone, and beer on the counter. He even broke a beer bottle and was not removed from the bar!! Instead, the glass was quickly swept up and he was given a new beer! My group notified a bartender and all he said back was "Yeah, it's been more intense lately..". My friends and I were extremely uncomfortable and left as soon as the football game was over. I am so disappointed in the lack of action from the staff. His mother ended up leaving after he became more aggressive and got in her face. If the guy is mentally unstable, I empathize and hope he gets help. BUT WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU CONTINUING TO SERVE HIM ALCOHOL?!?! This is so unsafe for any of your customers!!!! Earlier in the evening he tried to approach our group and introduced himself as 'Phil' . Apparently he works there or used to work there. This should not give him a pass to behave this way. If he's an owner's/staff member's friend or family member. .. you are doing him (AND YOUR BUSINESS) a big disservice by continuing to enable this behavior. read more

Ordered fish and chips. Ready fast! The fish was white and flaky. Batter super crunch. Nice portion. It would have been good but they put some kind of sweet season salt on it. Made it gross. I wish they had asked or at least put the season salt on the side. Fries were ho hum, went in the trash. Tartar sauce was sour cream with horseradish, not mixed well. Gross went in the trash. The food here was lovely. The oysters were fresh and same with the shrimp! We started off with the james river oysters and two half pounds of shrimp (happy hour items) and we did another round of that. the fish tacos were pretty good and filling! good sides and the she crab soup was tasty. as for the chicken sandwich we also really enjoyed that with a side of old bay chips. 10/10 food here! We did sit outside because we had a pet with us but they were really nice about it and accommodating. they do loose a star because after we got seated it took a while to bring us menus and utensils, so we had to go back inside and ask for them. i understanding being busy but because we did not get enough attention outside we didn't get to put more drinks in while it was still happy hour, was sitting with an empty bottle for 15 mins before our server came out. we also had to go inside to order that second round of shrimp and oysters to get those in before 7 (happy hour). read more

The bar seating seems to have regulars. TONS of TVs around to watch games. Indoor, outdoor seating. Kids menu. Draught beer. They take credit cards. I enjoyed the wings. Despite this bar being open till 2am as advertised they kick everyone out at 1:30ish. Went up to a waitress at 1:21 and asked to used the restroom she said "sorry per the owner everyone needs to be out by 1:55" I said well it's only almost 1:30 and she said "well fine bitch go to the bathroom. You're a fucking CUNT." And whatever else she choose to say. I went to the bathroom and on my way out asked for a business card or any contact information for the owner. None could be provided. As a DM even I have an email customers can contact but apparently not this guy. Further the place asked for all patrons to be out by 1:55 and at 1:52 I walked back in to make sure that everyone had the right into which was that the owner had no contact info. And the "bouncer" threw a fit. And when I pointed out to him that the paper on the door says 1:55am he didn't care. Just "banned" me from the premises...whatever that means. Not to mention because I made my husband take the lead by grabbing his arm I was apparently assaulting him. Like that was supposed to scare me? I don't know. Seems like a joke of place. Ubers take anywhere from 10-20 plus minutes to get to you at this place but you can't wait inside if it's before 1:55 and if you want to go pee before you leave you're gonna be called a CUNT and whatever else. Wouldn't go back and I hope you don't either. There's lots of bars that actually stay open till 2 and you can use the bathroom without being berated. read more

Perfect place munch after a long beach day! I wanted seafood and I got seafood! Everything was refreshingly delicious. Bar area, indoor and outdoor sitting available. They have their own parking lot. Men and women bathrooms. And there's a changing table available Plenty of tvs around the restaurant so you won't miss a game! I mean it is football season now! I also love the fact they have coloring pages and crayons for the kids. God bless the restaurants that have them! Lol I gave it a 4/5 stars just because there was a lot more flies than normal for a beach restaurant. I mean you can't really control that. But the food was delicious! read more

I have been here twice, both for birthday occasions with a large party, and I have to say they are very accommodating. Props to the staff!! This place has a pretty low rating, but I disagree. Great service, fresh delicious seafood, and a wide drink menu say otherwise. Unfortunately I don't have many pictures yet, besides a dim one of the massive Neptune's platter because we ate outside in the dark this time, and last time I wasn't on Yelp. But I have sampled the platters, stealing off of my boyfriend's plate, and the Shore Drive Fish Tacos. Both are divine. There is also a good selection of non-seafood items. And again, service is always quick and friendly. This past visit was my boyfriend's siblings bday. We had a large party of 10 hosted by their parents. They were pretty rambunctious, but I always make sure to recognize the hard work of service workers. I felt terrible for our server because half the time, he would come up and check on us, and my boyfriend, the sibling's husband and I were the only ones not ignoring him. But he still kept a great attitude. Even when he stopped by multiple times and their mom complained about needing something when she could have asked if she paid attention. Not to air her out... but our server was very very patient. In-laws!!!!!!!! Lol. My boyfriend and I tipped very well to hopefully make it worth it. We came with a group to watch football and a perk of this place is that they have lots of TVs and it's far less busy than Chicks. Personally, I'll deal with the crowds at the latter in the future. Staff is great and the Santa taking photos was a great and enjoyable touch One thing that prevents me from giving a 4....I had the Chicken and Andoiulle pasta. Our love for seafood was one of several reasons we visited Virginia Beach this past Labor Day weekend. While exploring our surroundings, walking the boardwalk, and viewing the beautiful sandy beach and homes near our hotel, we decided it was time to try out a new restaurant, preferably one that was seafood-focused. As we entered CP Shuckers Cafe & Raw Bar, it appeared as if the lunch time crowd had not shown up yet, so we had the place and attention of the waitress to ourselves. We were escorted to our booth and presented with the menu of this seafood sports bar haven. We began our order with a dozen raw oysters, sweet and spicy chicken wings, and fried shrimp, accompanied by a pound and a half of snow crabs and hush puppies with coleslaw. CP Shuckers is a pretty decent bar that is a favorite of a lot of locals here in Virginia Beach. I came this Friday and it was pretty dead. I was really surprised however I ordered a "Blueberry Kush" bomb shooter that was $8 which wasn't bad. It was mixed with Dr. Stoners and blueberry Red Bull. I ordered the she crab soup which is my favorite. You can't have a bad one in VB like ever. It was cooked to perfection. The taste was there, the seasoning could've used a little more kick to it. If you get steamed shrimp, they are NOT deveined which was an unpleasant surprise. Everything else was good, above average. From Vegas I'm used to chefs deveining shrimps. Maybe that's not a thing here and maybe locals know to expect that?? I don't know but I found it unappetizing. Crab cakes were good, the tater tots and broccoli were great, price was very fair. If it weren't for the shrimp thing I'd have given 4 or 5 stars even, but that was big eww for me. Perhaps they just didn't because I ordered from Postmates? I don't know.
