Drinking a crush cocktail on the outside patio, watching the water activities. Chilling out.

It was such a refreshing surprise. We had to kill some time before we checked into our hotel. The Oysters were delicious and fresh. And they were the perfect size. The view was gorgeous. A great place to chill out. And our server was so polite. I had 2 of their crush cocktails and they really hit the spot. I was hoping to go back but we ran out of time.

We had a great experience overall! They had complimentary valet parking, which was a nice. The valet staff were friendly and efficient. it was very crowded for a Thursday afternoon, the restaurant had ample seating and we were seated immediately. Our server, Aura was fantastic. We initially ordered the Orange Crush but forgot to mention we wanted it without alcohol. Despite the mix up, Aura quickly and kindly replaced our drinks with the non-alcoholic version, which turned out to be delicious for the hot weather. For appetizers, we had the hush puppies and fried calamari. The hush puppies were very good, but the calamari was quite rubbery and tough to eat, which was a bit disappointing. For our entrée, we ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos with fries both were excellent. The tacos were flavorful, and the fries were perfectly done. Our food came out quickly, and Aura continued to check in on us throughout our meal, which we really appreciated. Even though it was a hot day, we still enjoyed our time outside thanks to the great service and good food. Would definitely come back, especially for the amazing Orange Crush!! Much appreciation to valet parking staff!!

Never been here but always drove by and saw how busy it was. Got done working in a Friday and the weather was nice so I suggested my wife that we get dinner overlooking water. Valet only which was convenient, had our name on the list so we were sat immediately, we sat overlooking the water inside looking out at the sun setting and a nice breeze. Waiter was very friendly and she even stopped to share how gorgeous my wife looked. Food wasn't bad, loved how they had oyster shooters. Got the tuna bites, raw oysters, oyster sandwich and burger. We noticed that the fries were really good. Would definitely come back just for the view and service.

Oysters were relishes another crowded place for a Friday' service I was fast and good prices Did I mention it was so hot here!

This is a popular spot for after hours drinks! They have themed nights for music and atmosphere. Drinks are great and bartenders are always super friendly! Valet parking and ID check at the door

Probably one of the best places to be if you're a seafood fan like being by the ocean and enjoying some good drinks. Especially good because of the breeze and the open deck if you prefer. Service was on point point. Props to Faith for checking up on us and making sure my first time here was exceptional. Good vibe here too. I can see how it gets packed and parking was super easy with the complimentary parking. Literally sprinting around to get your vehicle in 94° weather and humidity. If you're going to get the tacos you're definitely going to need some napkins as they get a little juicy but I stuck with some oysters on the half shell, super fresh and with a crab cake which I had grilled. I would probably get it fried next time. Everything was on point start to finish.

The food was not good. I ordered the Costa Rican soft Tacos, the flounder was medium cold, and ordered the sweet potato fries and they were as cold as if they were removed out of the refrigerator. Service was mediocre, as she only stoped once or twice. We were the first customers to arrive so there were not that many people there.

Ask the Community - Chick's Oyster Bar

    Is there dancing?

    No there isn't

    Do they take reservations?

depends on the day, like on saturday it's packed but if you show up with your party they will seat you. They've seated my party of 18 before on a busy saturday night. best thing to do is just call and ask.

Are there heaters in the outside dining areas?

    Is this place Pet friendly?

You can definitely have your dog on your boat (you can drive up and eat on your boat). I don't believe pets are allowed inside, though.

There is a nice selection of appetizers, flatbreads, bowls, burgers, sandwiches. My husband and I both went with bowls I had the poke bowl and my husband had the chicken bowl. Both were delicious and above what one would expect for a pub. Mine came with succotash, which I thought was an interesting choice, but it worked. We split the pretzel, which was amazingly good. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations from the start. Our reservation was at 5:45 PM, and after nearly two hours, we left at 7:30 PM without ever receiving our entrees, and some of our drinks never arrived either. What made matters more frustrating was the lack of communication. Our server came back 3 times to tell us they were out of ingredients for drinks we had ordered, but never offered alternatives or clarified what was available, leaving us stuck and repeatedly restarting the process. We were never checked on and he only came by to tell us our food wasn't ready or they couldn't make what we ordered. To make matters worse, several tables seated around us, many with larger parties were fully served, finished their meals, and left while we were still waiting. It was incredibly discouraging and made us feel completely overlooked. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating, poorly managed, and not at all what we expected. We will not be returning.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.

I think this time was even better! We arrived around 230 on a Saturday, lucky for us happy hour started at 3 and we had a 30 minute wait for 6 people. Literally perfect timing because no one was waiting before us and about 10-20 minutes later the waiting area became packed for that 3 o clock happy hour. Side note: happy hour is from 3-7, 7 days a week! The service was phenomenal, the whole staff was so nice and accommodating. While we waited for our table, we were able to order a cocktail from one of the waitresses. We also had a baby with a stroller and they made sure we had plenty of room once we were seated at our table. The food was amazing, I'm a fan of cooked oyster but i decided to be a little spontaneous and try them raw. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and clean tasting these oysters were. It reminded me of eating sashimi. My wife and father in law had the lobster rolls, they both loved them! My son had the double cheeseburger from the happy hour menu, literally cannot beat this deal. $6 double cheeseburger with fries on the boardwalk is unimaginable lol. I had the Nashville hot chicken, which was good but maybe could've used a little more flavor. But the quality of the sandwich as a whole was spot on. I really don't have any complaints, this was the highlight of our day. My in laws live in Wisconsin but they travel a bunch and they said that these oysters were some of the best they had ever had. They would never see 1$ oysters where they live, so I'm glad we were able to come here and create this memory together. If you've ever debated whether taking the trip to the strip is worth it, it is! Definitely check this place out!
