Absolutely blown away by how incredible everything tasted, vegan or not, the flavors were next-level. Every dish was perfectly balanced, fresh, and flavorful, nothing needed more or less of anything. You can really tell there's intention behind the food, and that care shines through in every bite. It's also so refreshing to support a place that's vegan not just for health, but out of a true love for animals. The eco-conscious touches, like reusable items throughout the restaurant, made the experience even more meaningful. I love trying different foods. Honest Pasture is a Vegan restaurant. The food was brought to us in a timely manner. The food was hot, delicious, tasty, and filling. I ordered the deli master sandwich, pumpkin French toast, 3 beyond strips, and potatoes with seasoning. We sat and enjoyed our meal watching a Christmas (The Santa Clause) movie. I did eat on my food before I took pictures. I ordered extra sauce for my strips, BBQ and honey mustard. There were other customers in the restaurant enjoying their food. Very cozy restaurant. Soooooo good! During my weeklong stay visiting from Seattle, tried the BLT, the reuben, and the french dip. All were unbelievably tasty and enjoyed by adults and kids alike. The food also wasn't overly greasy or heavy like vegan "comfort food" often is. Dined-in, and did takeout, both were prompt, friendly, and environmentally-responsible experiences. I cannot get past the fact that I have to leave northern Virginia to get a good sandwich. We had the Reuben and the chicken Philly. Kids had the grilled cheese and chicken strips. I have never seen so many different vegan meat options in my life. Even if you are not vegan you can still have a tasty meal here. I did an early dinner with a Reuben Sandwich and side of Cauliflower "Onion" rings. The meat (non-meat) was sooooo good. My girlfriend got the Mediterranean sandwich with the pickled cucumber salad side that was also good. The owners are super friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming! Next visit will be to try breakfast. If any criticism it would be they close so early at 6pm but that seems to be all vegan places. read more

I came in with high hopes, the concept is great, the atmosphere is inviting, and I love supporting vegetarian spots. But unfortunately, the food just didn't deliver. The sandwich I ordered looked promising but lacked flavor. The ingredients were fresh, sure, but the overall taste was bland and underwhelming. Even the sauces didn't do much to help. I genuinely wanted to enjoy it and become a regular, but for the price and the lack of flavor, I probably won't be back. I recently moved to Virginia from Florida and this is one of the first places I found when searching for vegetarian/vegan options. I was not disappointed!! The service was great, and everyone was so kind and my food came out as quick as it could to have been made fresh. I took my food to go, but the seating was nice and there was plenty of room to eat at the deli! The food was SO good. It's so unreal sometimes to go from having one option at a restaurant to going to a deli where I could literally order anything I want. I haven't eaten meat in close to 10 years, so being able to order an Italian sub was incredible. I don't even have a photo because I was so excited to eat it. When we lived in PA, we went to the Lancaster Vegan Festival, and met some cool people who made their own vegan meat... we asked about a physical location to eat in, and they said it didn't exist... Fast forward - Little did we know we'd be moving to Virginia Beach a few years later, and here they were... Honest Pastures! As a deli! The food is amazing - sandwiches stacked high with delicious and healthy ingredients... they work really hard to create quality meals - and those air-fried "french fries" - wow! Even if you aren't vegan or vegetarian, you'll be blown away by the cheesesteaks, the chik'un sandwiches, the breakfast burritos, the reubens... you name it - the menu has a ton of variety! We were excited to find another vegan restaurant that has a decent menu selection. Unfortunately, we may have visited on a day that their staff was having a bad day. The service was mediocre, as in they seemed annoyed that we were there, and should have been excited to have new clientele. As I have read through other reviews, I've seen a pattern concerning the male figure who also works there, bald with tattoos, having a negative disposition towards customers. This negativity sadly goes into the food that they prepare. As you will see from the photos I have included, the food was not great. The five dollar sweet tea tasted good, but should include free refills, since the cup isn't that big for a large. Other than the Na'Arby's sandwich, all the breads and meats were extremely dry. The Cuban needed more mustard or sauce of some type to help with flavor. The Sautéed Jerk Collards tasted OK, but we're very salty. Even though my daughter liked the Whatever! - Chickun Strips with fries, they were way overpriced for 3 small pieces less than 3" each. The Heavy Eye Roll - Hammy & Cheese was the most dry and difficult to eat, and was also missing fries that we were charged for but not provided. Last, but not least, a little good news, and so glad I ordered them. The Fried tofu bites and Honest fil-A sauce were the best out of everything. Now onto ambiance. We enjoyed getting to play a board game with our son while our daughter relaxed on the small sofa. Overall, we wish this place the best, but considering what the vegan movement is supposed to stand for with love and peace, they may need to focus more on those two aspects to enhance their food and ambiance. read more

I've been trying every plant based, vegan restaurant as they pop up and Honest Pastures has the best tasting food I've had yet. They score very high in the areas plant based places around here tend to lack in: flavor, quality of bread, execution. We had gyros and Italian subs and they were spot on. Soft bread, accurate flavors and good textures. And please don't underestimate the importance of the bread comment. SO MANY plant based places I've been fall flat on their faces when it comes to the bread. And it ruins the sandwich. This place has it figured out !Everything was outstanding. We tried lots of things like the double bakun cheese burger, hotdog (for the win), potato salad (okay I see you) , fries, turkey sub, and macaroni salad (uh nooo)... I would say overall everything was pretty good. Most important they were there for us to eat . They do need to switch that turkey back to the Worthington brand because the in house made turkey taste like it has to much sage (hello thanksgiving on my sandwich). Oh and that burger just stick to either or not a mixed blend burger, offer the impossible and your house burger. Some of the flavors are taste preference for sure. First time visit, wasnot sure what to expect as a lot of plant based deli/cafes have limited gluten free options. Honest Pastures had their gluten free options up on a chalkboard making options way to identify, which I loved. Gentleman & young lady working behind the counter were extremely friendly and helpful. I got the Chickpea Toona Fish wrap full of yummy toppings and scarfed it down. Very tasty! Love it can be customized to whatever ingredients you want which means each time it can taste different. Also good a blueberry Empowered Plant Cake which I'm very excited to try. I don't want to sound all gushy and over the top, but...OH MY MY!! WOW! Let me say it backwards for dramatic effect...WOW! I ordered a Turkey and cheese (saving that for later) and a Ham/cheese sub (I added a broccoli slaw because it looked so good). The ham sub was simply divine. Super fresh bread, and though I haven't had ham in nearly 17 years, I definitely remember the taste--it was spot on! My husband had the Philly and though it was messy ("messy" in a good way--it had so much meat and toppings on it), it was flavorful. His fear was it was not going to have the "Philly" meat...but they came out from the back with his sandwich and it was indeed the "Philly" shaved meat that he expected. The staff was amazingly helpful. We even met the owner and she too, was encouraging us to sample a few other items. The "Egg" Salad held its own; it was tasty and had egg salad-like consistency. We sampled the "steak" and I think I had buyer's remorse. It tastes and felt so much like actual STEAK, I secretly wanted to change my order and get that instead. My husband sampled the "unRib" and he said it would make a great sandwich with a little extra BBQ sauce. We finished our meals with the lavender lemonade and apple/orange cider (and absolute MUST)...I'm not going to say I took it home and added a shot of moonshine to give it a kick but...(ok, I took it home and added a shot of 'shine! BEST DELI!! And guess what? It's VEGAN! I went to the soft opening of today! The space is amazing, setup perfect, and everyone is so sweet! I met the owner, Dacia...I'm so proud of her and excited for all of Virginia Beach's vegan community and non-vegans alike!! The food is just incredible. So, I got the Philly Cheese Steak, French Dip (comes with au jus), and Veggeroni Pasta Salad -- all of it made by Honest Pastures and ALL VEGAN! Oh and I got a pound of Corned Beaf (that "beaf" is trademarked!!) -- no one would know it's vegan!! I've been loving the CB since I first tried it!! The sandwiches were and I can already see Philly Cheese Steaks in my future!! The French Dip was delicious and had the perfect amount of horseradish aioli. The pasta salad was gone in a blink. I also picked up a Snickers Cake made by @empoweredplantcakes (Heavenly! I've had many of their slices before) and a Blueberry Crumble Mufflin made by @jmtsweets (I have not tried it yet!). We were at First Landing State Park, and we used Happycow to find vegan or vegetarian options restaurants. Up popped this restaurant. We thought it would be a few vegan selections. We were happy to find the whole menu is plant-based. I had a Grinder sub, and my wife had the french dip. Both were great. The staff was very friendly. They told us good-looking old couples eat free but told us we would have to pay double. We will be camping in the area soon, and we will be eating here every day. The sandwich was out of this world, tasted just like salami and ham. The fries were great! I would have never stopped in had there not been an event today advertising for veg fest but when you are hungry and see an eccentric man holding a free food sign and balloons you best believe I'm gonna pull through . I wanted to learn more about these vegan options I was offered as I am unfamiliar of vegan anything but the people manning the event didn't seem to have much knowledge on the food . When I asked the man behind the counter about my curiosities he made me feel as if I was bothering him or that he didn't want to be at work . Tall skinny man with tattoos . However I will deflect by saying the food was amazing. The hummus was giving allll of the flavors I never knew I needed in hummus (all hummus I've ever tried in the past could never compare ) they have a lavender lemonade that is absolutely amazing I'll most definitely be back for those two particular things that stood out to me . I tried the "roast beef , and turkey " in wrap form and sandwich form and I'm questioning if meat is even necessary in life with how good these options are. The ambiance of this place is very homey / and outdated They have a Pac-Man game in the corner which attracted my two year old obviously. There was a paper sign on it that read "a 500$ deposit is required for all unattended children" while it made me giggle it almost deterred the thought of returning because I always have my children with me and while I do believe etiquette / table manners is a important life skill I truly love a place I can go to eat and not worry about my child possibly inconveniencing someone / touching something they shouldn't be touching. I had my sights set on this place before I even got to Virginia Beach, from Michigan, and I was definitely not disappointed. Prices are very fair and they have sooo many options. We got the Italian sub and also the philly- my only complaint was I feel like the philly needed some kind of sauce because it was a little dry; so definitely recommend adding mayo or something. Ordered for delivery. One of the best vegan meats I've EVER (no exaggeration) had. I ordered: The Reuben - out of this world!!! Everything was amazing. The meat, the cheese, the kraut, the sauce. Even the bread was delicious. The Na'Arby's - similarly, amazing. Beef taste was wonderful, and totally different than the corned beef in the Reuben.
