Walked in and ordered our food, seemed like a small rush that they were unprepared for. The people behind us got their food before us and we waited about an hour for ours. The menu said Philly cheez and that's all so when I received the food I did, it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Mine taste good even though I didn't know what it was but after waiting all the time they ended up giving my husband burnt food. I this place. It's one of my new favorite places. I was recommended this Cafe by a veteran who was a vegan who overheard me saying talking about becoming a vegan. Well this place won me over with their vegan oxtail wrap made with jackfruit. At first I was scared to try it I put it in my refrigerator for a day or two but when I tried it oh my God I had to go back and get three more to let others try it and we've been going back ever since I this place. I just had the best vegan chicken sammie of my life @ Vegan Planet in Norfolk (it's on Granby next to brows & Meows inside Conscious Planet) First of all you walk (or in my case wobble - I'm disabled and use crutches on my good days to walk) into this place & it immediately makes you feel peaceful. The owner saw me coming from the lot across the street (I'm not the best parallel parker lol) & jumped up to get the door for me. Their menu is plentiful & I couldn't decide so I took their recommendation (next time I'm trying the burger) & I was not disappointed. Crispy, juicy, so flavorful. There was spinach tomato and pickles on it and it was enormous. I looked them up and they have ZERO health code violations. The bookstore is spiritually based and geared mostly toward the African American community. There was a lot of info on the Orishas & they had crystals and some really cool jewelry. The vibe is so wonderful. They were playing good music and everyone was incredibly friendly. If you're in Norfolk I highly recommend you check it out. 10/10 would reccommend. Definitely A Hidden Gem !!! I stopped in today, for the first time, and ordered the Cauliflower Bites combo and the Falafel Waffle Bowl with a side of the Curry Slaw. When I tell you the slaw was gone before I hit 64!!! Everything about this place was amazing! The cauliflower had a nice crunch to it, the fries were delicious but the falafel waffle bowel definitely stole the show! The aura was welcoming, the staff was friendly and everybody that came in seemed like family Everything was FRESH and made to order. The lady there kept apologizing for the wait but I told her I didn't mind waiting and I was in no rush and let me tell you the wait was well worth it! The fries are not deep fried which is a healthier choice but something to note before you order them. They were cooked in an air fryer they were hot and done but soggy. The vegan sausage and burger was good. They were out of mac and cheese and nachos. This one our main reason for stopping in. The atmosphere was welcoming. read more

The food was very very very bland. The oxtails was a mixture of potatoes, black-eye peas and lima beans in a gravy, more so like a bean stew served over rice and peas. The rasta pasta was dry. Went there with my husband and was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. If there was a way I could give this place 0 stars I would. The place is very unclean, they never have most of the items on the menu, and they made our fries in an air fryer that I could have made at home with actual real potatoes and not frozen Walmart fries. When we got our food the fries and burgers were not all the cooked. We looked at the good reviews before going, but definitely would never recommend this to my vegan community. However, there an phenomenal more cleanly vegan restaurant around the corner called jikoni Cafe. Their vegan food was phenomenal and they answered all ingredient questions I had. This place looked interesting in the pictures, only to realize once entering the establishment the kitchen area was beyond reasonably dirty. The "stove" was completely a mess with caked on burnt food that had been there for a while. The smoothie was made in a dirty blender container with residue from previous smoothies still in the inside. To cap it off the "Chef" wore no gloves, hair cap and failed to wash their hands. While making my smoothie, he scratched his beard with his hand and I watched in horror as particles from his beard fell into my smoothie. The food was quite tasty, and there are several other items on the menu that look worth trying. While we were eating at one of the two café patio-style tables, Brother Eternal came and sat beside us and chatted with us.
