Of the three different locations in Virginia Beach, this was my least favorite. The restaurant is clean, spacious and is currently decorated for fall. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and you have to wait to be seated. Our server was new (2nd day) and was not able to answer my questions without going back and forth to the kitchen. I ordered the Market veggie sandwich and ended up with ninety percent of it being mushrooms. It had absolutely no flavor but the toasted bread it was on was good. I got the veggie soup as a side and that was good. My husband got a breakfast sandwich with a side of seasoned potatoes and he enjoyed both. If you are a meat and egg eater, I strongly recommend this place. If you are vegetarian I would suggest going elsewhere. read more

I've been to this location of first watch a handful of times now. It is conveniently located in Landstown Centre near multiple other eateries and retail shops. There is ample parking in an adjacent lot. They offer covered patio seating for nice days. On each of my visits, the restaurant has been nearly empty. Recently I dined around 12 on a weekday and we were the only diners on the patio. Food has been consistently good with my favorite options being the Trifecta breakfast combo (both pancakes and waffles are light, fluffy and delicious!), avocado toast and the Tri-Athlete omelet. We recently tried the blueberry lemon cornbread from the seasonal summer menu and it was SO good.. and quite a large portion for several diners. The coffee is pretty good too. Service has been hit and miss. Most recently, we had to ask several times for items and had a hard time getting hold of our server. Prior to this experience, service was attentive and prompt. Overall, I really enjoy First Watch's menu items and dining experience. This location is definitely one I'll return to. read more

First watch being a chain offers better than average brunch and lunch options with fresh ingredients and healthier fare. Came here to this location for the first time and just had a few hiccups: parking lot is small and with other busy businesses sharing the space, finding a space can be challenging. Secondly, the restaurant is busy and it did take a while before someone showed up just to get our drink order (15 minutes and we even had to flag someone down). And third, maybe we are living in a time we're staff is always short but little mistakes and NEVER getting our water can be a nuisance. My daughter and I visited this location quickly before a busy day. Since it was nearing lunchtime I decided to go with the half salad half sandwich. Came early on a Sunday morning. No wait which was nice. We did have the wait list pulled up to join just in case, but we didn't need it. We get seated and we sit for a while. Nobody greets us. Eventually we're greeted and give our entire order to the waiter. He got all the drinks except my water. The kids food come out quick, and they're eating. Our food comes out slightly staggered and I have to ask for my water. He brings it out sans the glass milk bottle for water refills, and the cup is filled to the brim with ice. I took a few sips and ran out of water, a bit annoyed but it's fine. My kiddo got the kids grilled cheese. She'd often get this when we lived in Georgia. However today, she didn't eat it. She picked at her fruit and she just wasn't a fan. I wish she spoke up more before we all finished eating. I had the biscuits with turkey gravy. The biscuits were so dry. I don't usually eat all the gravy, but I felt myself desperately trying to find a way to curb the dryness. The potatoes I didn't care for, but the eggs were really good. Service was mediocre. The guy was nice when he came by don't get me wrong, but it wasn't often he'd stop by. It was definitely not busy, compared to the amount of people you see on the weekends. That was great because we got seated almost immediately. I ordered the carnitas tacos hash, and my husband ordered the French toast. I wanted to like the hash, but the flavor profile wasn't doing it for me. The pineapple was throwing off the savory taste of the carnitas, and the potatoes were a little over salted. Other than that, the plating was beautiful. Wish the flavor was there, but there are plenty of other dishes I've liked in the past. Don't let that stop you from trying them out. The soda machine wasn't working properly, and my husband's sprite tasted like carbonated water. We let the waiter know and offered to get him something else. We just decided to stick with water. My fiancé has been to First Watch and as a stocking stuffer for Christmas I was given a gift card to try them out. I've always wanted to try First Watch because my sister raves about how good they are and how she enjoyed going. We went on a Sunday at 7AM right when they opened. From what I've heard it is usually slammed busy, but it was not the case (must have a lucky streak going on). Upon entering the restaurant, we were seated relatively quick. The waitress sat our menus down and gave us a minute to look at what drinks we wanted. I was not going to be adventurous, but my fiancé wanted to try a morning cocktail, which was not half bad. After he squeezed the lime into the drink, he devoured the beverage. Our waitress was very patient with us and gave us recommendations on what was new and it was appreciated! I'm more of a chicken person and there were not many chicken options on the menu, at least what I could see. I ordered the Farmhouse Hash and my fiancé ordered the Floridian French Toast. I will say both of these items were delicious! I would probably go back and order another Hash, the only downside to the Hash was that it felt like it had a little too much salt, but it didn't stop me from eating it. The avocado really helped balance the dish and I wish I had a little more because I forgot how much I really enjoy avocado. Overall I gave First Watch a 5/5 because I enjoyed their food, the service was great, the staff was nice, and the restaurant was clean. Can't ask for anything more. read more

I've been to a different first watch a few times and had an okay experience. We decided to try out this one because we got a coupon in the mail. Our breakfast this morning was so delicious! I've been wanting eggs benedict and just got the classic. I ordered it with potatoes on the side. They brought out my plate with greens on the side and once we let them know of the mistake they brought out a side of potatoes and let me keep the greens. Honestly, the greens were SO good with the eggs benedict, it was such an amazing pairing. The greens were lightly coated in a lemony sauce which tasted so good with the savoriness of the ham, eggs, and hollandaise sauce. My husband got the chickichanga which he thought was delicious. We got a pancake to share on the side which was also very good, but we ended up taking it to go because we were so full from our entrees. Their hot coffee was decent, and their water tasted really fresh. It was pretty busy when we went but they were able to sit the 2 of us pretty quickly. The ambiance was just like any other normal brunch atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back to this first watch when our family comes in town! read more

I always go to First Watch on weekends after I do my sunrise run. I've been on all their locations in Virginia Beach and this is my 3rd time here in Landstown branch since they've opened. Service is always great in all locations including here in Landstown. Love the ambiance as well. Food is great and I like that they have seasonal items to offer besides the regular items. This morning I tried the Chile Chorizo omelet for the first time and I like it. The only thing is I wish there's more chorizo in it. I gave this feedback to my server Makayla and she was quick to offer some more chorizo to add to my omelet. It just went from 4-star to 5-star. read more

This is one of my favorite brunch spots. I usually go to the one at Summit point in Chesapeake, but I had to try this one since it's new. They have the best coffee of any breakfast brunch location in the 757. Their food is great with fresh ingredients the service is wonderful, I just love the people there. I'm a fan of First Watch but do view them as a weaker brunch places than some local faves. That in no way means that I do not recommend as a solid option for many reasons. The second First Watch in Virginia Beach opened early Fall in a new strip on the corner of Nimmo Parkway and General Booth. There was no issue with locating parking on a weekday morning. The area was clear of debris and walk up tidy. They offer an outdoor patio. The hostess was not immediately available, but it did not take long before I was shown to a two seat table. The dining room is smaller than the boulevard spot, however good size. The center space alone offers over a dozen tables. The rustic wood motif traditional to the chain is present with some unique touches to this store. An example full size wooden doors hang by cables is just darn cool. Only one full booth and it's out of the way and private. There are four gender specific restrooms offered so hopefully no wait. The men's was spic and span. This is clever and not often seen. It's both expensive as well as constraints on space do not make it even possible. My server was immediately on top of beverages and I received coffee, water and a menu quickly. She forgot silverware and was available to quickly secure. The dining room had a few customers then it was followed up by a group of 15+ military at one of the communal tables. Someone called ahead as I noticed the table was ready to go. My order Vanilla Chai pancakes off the specials menu. The description abbreviated is vanilla chai added to three multi grain cakes with bananas, raspberries and maple chai almond butter. Super seed crunch is an added novelty. My server recommended this or the Lemon ricotta cakes. I enjoyed a great cup of Columbian Joe with a pot to do self serve pours. I love places that do this since refills can be labor intensive. They do the same with water. My plate hit the table in around 15 minutes with a beautiful presentation. Warm syrup was applied to hot cakes. First bite was a winner with popping flavors and since it's multi grain I'm feeling good about my indulgence. I cleaned up leaving no trace. My server checked in on me twice at appropriate times and ticket was left after I finished. Checkout was smooth. I see no reason whatsoever to not return and encourage friends to try them out. My visit consisted of strong service and yum food in a clean and inviting atmosphere. Since I'm in the area much more often I plan on returning. read more

This First Watch is located in the Hickman Place Shopping Center at the corner of General Booth Blvd. and Nimmo Pkwy. You can enter into the shopping center from either direction on Nimmo Pkwy., but only in the northbound direction from General Booth Blvd., where the Velocity Urgent Care is located. There is ample parking in this shopping center as well. My visit here was on December 14, 2019. I had a birthday coupon for First Watch, which is why it was decided to come in and visit. We got here around 1:30 pm, but they do close at 2 pm. The timing of when we came in was no issue and we were immediately seated with menus. After looking over the menu for a while, we started to wonder who our server was and when they would get to the table. Finally, our server Karina came to the table and took our drink orders. After she brought the drinks out, we were ready to order. I went with the Tri-Fecta, which includes two eggs and a meat, plus waffle or pancake. I substituted for French Toast instead, which was no issue. My mom went with the Belgian Waffle. About ten minutes later, our orders came to the table. Everything looked good once we got it and asked for extra napkins. She had forgotten so we had to catch her again to get them. After digging into the food, I could taste that it wasn't piping hot that most foods coming out would be. My mom said the same thing about hers as well. We were never able to get the attention of our server, so we just went with what we had at that point. She was over having a chat with someone at another table for a good amount of the time we were eating. When she did come back, we were already done and was ready for the check. After getting the check, we went up to the register to check out with my birthday coupon and head home. Overall, I would just say it was okay. There wasn't anything that wow'd me. The food was okay as well. Portion sizes are smaller and prices higher when compared to other breakfast/brunch places in the city. I could get 3-4 full slices of French toast, plus eggs and bacon for the same price at other local breakfast spots. Service was lacking in this visit as well, and as noted above. I'm not sure if it was because she was burned out at the end of their day, but it was definitely not to the standard I am accustomed to at any restaurant. within the past 3 weeks, i've visited First Watch twice but in different locations. so the food is definitely great, but after eating it so much it's hard to be amazed. this location specifically, though a small area, has probably the best customer service out of the ones i've visited (Landstown and Chesapeake). the wait time in Chesapeake is packed a lot faster for a lot longer so expect to be waiting for awhile. but here in landstown, i didn't have enough time to warm up the bench before being seated. the landstown location feels more personal so better for two people to hold a conversation and not having to yell across the table. if you have a bigger party, that would probably be best in Chesapeake in my opinion. read more

I was a bit worried Bc of some of the negative reviews, but I just had brunch here on a Thursday at around 12:45 and it was great. It started out a little slow Bc our server took a while to come greet us but as soon as she did, she apologized and took great care of us. We tried a ton of items off the menu. We did not wait long for anything and she came back and was very prompt and even brought me samples of all three fresh juices so I could taste them before I ordered. I chose the kale tonic juice made with kale, apple, cucumber and lemon juice. We chose the million dollar bacon, peppered and sweet, as well as the seasonal mixed berry toast as shareables items. Both were good but for me the toast was huge and thick and the bacon was very good but a bit too sweet. My entree was the steel-cut oatmeal with fresh banana slices and strawberry on top served with chopped pecans and a side of milk and brown sugar. It also comes with a muffin of the day which was a choice between chocolate chip and orange cranberry. My muffin was fresh and yummy and sweet. Very good oatmeal which came out very warm with fresh berries. Noms. A large portion so I only ate about half of it. My friend chose the french toast with sides of sausage and breakfast potatoes (those you pay extra for they don't come with it). The french toast came with a small side of warm berry coulis and a warm bottle of maple syrup. He loved all of it. Said it was all very good. I don't like french toast so I did not sample. We also had a warm pot of coffee for the table and my friend tried the cold brew which I tried and thought was delicious. Some of the best cold brew I've had. I wouldn't have had to really sweeten it to be able to drink it, and that is saying something for me. It's an easygoing place - with an open concept inside - it can get loud with the acoustics when really busy - with the creamer and sugar on the table at all times, an open kitchen, chalkboard sayings and specials on the walls, and a pay at the front counter mentality. Our server was rushed but very good and attentive. She was very sweet and offered us drinks to go, take out boxes, and came and checked on us often. We asked for a few things and she was very prompt with them even while I saw she had a few other tables and was constantly running around. Her name was Jasmine and while the food was good, she and her service made up exactly half of the great experience we had. I was a bit worried about this based on some other reviews - but our food was out quickly, our service was attentive and prompt, and everything went smoothly. We did come during an off brunch time during the middle of the week so we will see - but it's been open a while now so hopefully they're finding the groove. The ingredients in the sandwich is very fresh but I'd prefer my bread toasted. The Sweet Honey Pecan Salad is perfect. It has avocado too, which I really like.
