Tonight was the first time going here for commander night, had a blast playing with the people, but. I spent 10 bucks tc do what I could've done at home or other gs for free. The companion app didnt even start for our group, nor did we know when to start or really anything at the beginning, nor did one of the guys get anything other then a promo card for coming. Walked in with our kids and immediately got hit with attitude from the lady with the leg tattoos. Apparently she didn't realize I was standing right there when she started making comments about "the family that rushed in out of the Suburban." Classy. Then my daughter politely asked her a question and she responded with the nastiest attitude for absolutely no reason. Imagine being rude to a child just because you're miserable at work. Customer service clearly isn't everyone's strong suit, but openly talking about families and snapping at kids is wild behavior. Maybe less gossiping about customers and more training on basic human decency would help. We'll gladly spend our money somewhere people actually know how to act. read more

The place is great. The people are very nice and very accommodating. I do have a small gripe to share. I went in there to sell about 480 Pokemon cards. I had cards ranging anywhere from $1 to over $100. In the binder that I brought that day, the total value of the cards, according to TCGPlayer market price, was right around $1k. I was in discussions with one of the owners of the store. I had asked if he was interested in purchasing any of the cards that I had. After flipping through a few of the pages, he said that he would take them all. So we began going through the process of getting all the cards out of the binder so they could be scanned and added into a program that checks the value of the cards. It was almost closing time so I would have to leave my cards there for them to start on it the following day. The gentleman that was helping me also told me that he pays 60%. I knew to temper my expectations because I was trying to sell them at a card shop. They, on average, typically only pay between 45%-55% of market value or last sold numbers from Ebay. Oh, and another thing, he does go off of TCGPlayer numbers...but not market price. He goes off of TCGPlayer Low numbers. He told me that maybe the most he could do might be around $560 or so and/or maybe some store credit. But that we would have to wait and see after all of the cards are scanned. I probably should have stopped everything, grabbed my cards, and left. But because I'm probably not going to collect anymore, I just said whatever and continued on. Almost a whole day goes by, so I call the store an hour before closing to find out if my cards were ready yet. I did call once earlier in the day and they told me that once it was done scanning that they would call me with an offer. I hadn't heard anything all day so that's why I called them. Apparently they were just finishing up and was waiting to hear back from the owner that was involved with the sale. Well, while we were on the phone, the owner did message back so the guy on the phone asked if he could call me back in 10 minutes with my offer. I said okay and waited. He calls me back with the offer, I reluctantly agreed to the absolute lowball of an offer I received. The explanation I got at the store when I went to get my money was "Because of the added bulk (low dollar cards) included in the deal, I was only afforded 55%." I leave the store and on the way home, it hits me. I'm like.."You sneaky, bitch!!" Got me!! The only advice I have to give everyone who is trying to sell cards to this place is: MAKE DAMN SURE THAT YOU SELL YOUR HIGHER VALUE CARDS SEPERATE FROM YOUR LOWER VALUE CARDS. This place will penalize you for bundling it all together. They will take all of your cards, but you will never see your potential max value or his so called 60%, if you have a bunch of $1-$3 cards bringing your better cards values down. It's a good trick. Hell, I fell for it. Its a guaranteed win-win for them. They like bulk cards to sell so they get them for dumb cheap, while also getting people's good cards on some sneaky cheap cheap. And then give you some excuse that because of all the other cards values we could only offer this amount. So just be aware of the situation if you do sell your cards there. Well, typically, if you're selling your cards at a card shop, you already know that ​you're going to be taking a considerable loss. Rarely, do you ever come out of there as the winner. Unless, if you're stealing your cards from places to sell them at other places, then that's all profit. But tsk, tsk, tsk..bad juju on you! Don't do it!! read more

We've been to California and back looking for great game shops and so far Kaboom has taken the cake. We got to browse through singles, play pinball, and pick up some books for the kids. The store layout is fantastic and you get a good slice of everything going on from the front door. There were tables sectioned off from the main entrance but the layout was still bright and wide open. It's a shame we won't be around to play any games there but we'd love to given the opportunity. The owner was friendly and helpful from the get-go and made sure we could find anything we were looking for. We left with our arms full but I could have spent another few hours browsing. I have met him three times now and is very generous with his workshops (I.e. experimenting with paints, models, etc.) I highly recommend even if you aren't there for hobbyist type painting sessions to consider his gaming knowledge and accessory base to be well manicured and exciting! I would avoid this place like the plague - I wrote a 3 star review on google and the owners response was that I was Pathetic and told me I was not welcome there (they will not have to worry about that anymore as I'm NEVER coming back). There are plenty of better places in tidewater to spend your hard earned money. I strongly suggest using and alternate. Management is horrible, Robert is the only decent person working there. He has an impressive inventory of individual cards in an awesome filing system. At first glance you might get discouraged at lack of glass cases. Don't. He has an online database of everything he has on his website. You can even search from home online then buy and just pickup. Also he has tables in the back for games. I love this place! They have a great selection of cards between the glass case items, the bulk rare bins, sealed products, and bulk cards from sets going way back. I can easily spend hours in there finding cards I need or ones I didn't know I needed until I came across it. Lots of tables to play at too. All the bases are covered here and the staff is awesome! It is fair to judge a game store by its bathroom. This isn't always the case, but when the bathroom offends the senses you need to weight that. The toilet had floating debris that took three flushes and had some results. The toilet is crammed in right next to the wall and the sink is a utility sink, the giant plastic square kind. They leave the mop and bucket in the bathroom. The floor itself is the rough concrete you usually tile over. There is a small area to play board games in, and Friday night magic can compete for tables. I give the staff 4 stars as they are friendly and knowledgeable. This place also has a side business as a PC repair and smart phone servicing company called PC Remedy www.pcremedy.tk. Anyway, it's a scam, they NEER rooted my device like promised over the phone. And they DON"T back or guarantee their work like they say they do in their receipt and on their site. They give a price then up the price after service is complete. I took my phone to this company thinking they could solve my issues of obtaining root access like they boasted they could on any Android device. After two hours of 'servicing' my smart phone, i got it back. When i got home i realized he temporarily rooted my device and never really serviced it at all, and i had to research and do it myself. He claimed I unrooted my phone myself. Why the heck would I pay him $60 (when the add says $35) to root my device only to take it home and completely undo his work? When i tried calling him about it and asking, he got defensive and assured me i didn't know what i was talking about since he holds 48 tech certificates. I actually tried to help this pompous jerk by telling him where to go get the software to do service for my type of device. I should've done it myself in the first place, now i have done it, and I know better than to EVER take anything to this immature moron who obviously knows nothing about anything he says he does. Just because you have the certificates, doesn't necessarily mean you know waht you're doing!!! Don't ever take your stuff here. Meh. I've experienced better. I really wanted Kaboom to be good, but left very disappointed I visited Kaboom due to it being top listed in Virginia Beach google results, and due in part to reviews like David R's which claimed that "The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They will beat any price online and give 60% store credit for trade ins." I regret to inform prospective customers that this statement is patently untrue. While the woman who greeted us as we arrived was pleasant and welcoming, the experience went down hill from there. I was attempting to buy and trade MTG singles. I noticed that the store's collection was decent but far from the "huge variety" claimed by other reviews. The few cards they did have were considerably overpriced when compared to most reputable online dealers (including MTG Price, MTG Goldfish, TCG Player, and even Star City Games) and other local games stores. I was told that I would have to wait to sell cards until another owner arrived, and waited patiently for a considerable length of time for him to arrive. When he eventually did show up he was kurt, dismissive, and rude. He refused to reprice cards or match online prices (as was suggested by other reviews and employees) and at one point told me he "[didn't] care about [my] opinions". After a few minutes of attempting to be polite I had had enough and left the store, seeing no compelling reason to return. Look, I have worked in brick and mortar stores before, I know the card shop grind very well-it is a challenging field and the customer is not always right. But this is unacceptable, I hope my experience was an isolated occurrence, because the MTG players of VA beach deserve better than what this shop is offering. read more
