I was originally super excited to check out this coffee shop that so many of my yelp friends enjoyed. The parking situation is a gravel road with a good bit of parking spots. In the backyard of the house, there's a playground and picnic tables, making this a cute spot to bring the little ones while you enjoy a treat outside too. Of course, I ordered a Lavender Honey Latte because that's just my go to. It was beautifully and perfectly crafted! It was so delicious. At the end of the cup, I was debating ordering another because it was that good! I also order the breakfast bowl, but wish I hadn't. I knocked off one star due to the poor food experience. I waited maybe 15 mins or so for my food to be ready (no biggy as I wasn't in a rush). But when I bit into my food, it was cold. The eggs were inedible. The bacon was chilled and I guess served in syrup. The avocado was perfectly ripe. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the breakfast bowl, especially not this for $15+ dollars. I haven't been here since it changed from Sawdust Road. I absolutely love the drive out to Pungo, so decided on Sunday morning to take the drive out and give Corduroy a try! For a Sunday at 9AM, it was not busy which was great since I was on a time crunch. It's an old, rustic farmhouse that when you walk in, truly feels like you're walking into someone's home. I ordered an iced latte with their homemade strawberry syrup and almond milk, and my friend got a black cold brew. The strawberry syrup was incredible. Not too sweet, and it was the PERFECT addition to my usual coffee order. 10/10 recommend for you strawberry fans. The food menu looked fantastic, but I was not hungry so we settled for the liquid diet this morning. But, the burrito and the pimento BLT definitely caught my eye for next time. The inside is super cute, with such a cool vibe. It would be a great place to come back with my laptop to get work done! Came to get breakfast and coffee. I tried to Experimental latte which was black tea and Sage flavored - and it was great. I love trying new things. I also got the avocado toast, and the flavor of the zest and olive oil really elevated the flavor. Will be incorporating that into my at home avocado toast because I enjoyed it so much. Super cute coffee shop. Love the space. These coffee shops in old farm houses are so cute. This one is also well appointed and clean. They also have a big back yard with a bunch of kids playground stuff so ideal for bringing the kids. I was particularly impressed with the decaf espresso- very high quality. I enjoyed my salmon croissant- the croissant was flaky and buttery and the salmon was high quality. It was on the small side. The avocado toast was different than what I am used to - the avocado was more like guacamole than I'm used to. That's not to say that it tasted like guacamole, but that was the consistency. At first arrival I will say this place is hard to navigate and park at. However, the area and scenery makes up for some of the obstacles you face enroute. I ordered "The Experimental" - which to be fair was explained to me to be an ever changing blend of seasonal flavors/fruits or barista favorites. All around 10/10 , i love a good seasonal menu so that combined with barista recommendations were buzzwords in my vocabulary! as well as "The Avo Toast" - quite literally the best avocado toast i have ever purchased. the lemon zest highlights all the flavors of each ingredient within the dish making it for a party in each bite! Aside from orders , i also purchased the Cinnamon Sugar Nut Butter stuffed dates covered in chocolate to which were slightly underwhelming considering it was only 2 in the packaging. The shop is rustic and family friendly. Inside is very cute with multiple cozy nooks to enjoy your food and drinks. Great place to read a book or talk with friends. The service is fine. However my drink and food were underwhelming. I ordered a gingerbread chai that ended up being mostly oat milk. Also ordered an açaí smoothie bowl that ended up taking the whole time it took me to drink my chai only to be the wrong bowl. What a cute spot! Getting here means pretty much driving the scenic route, and once arriving, their location is a nice house where you might even end up accidentally missing the entrance to this coffeeshop. They got a pretty decent menu of breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches, along with of course some creative coffee drinks. We got the ube latte and a pimento BLT sandwich - both delicious. I LOVE coffee shops, especially located in houses or cottages. It enhances the experience of enjoying a warm and/or refreshing drink. It's like being invited into a friend's home, you know? And what do friends usually offer you to drink? A coffee! See what I am saying? My friend from Hawaii was visiting and we had planned to start the day at The Bee and The Biscuit. Well holy shit, when people said, there was a wait there, they didn't tell me it was gonna be a WAIT of an hour and 15. But, no problem, I'm a solutions gal. I noticed that Sawdust Road (SR) was located right next to it when I pulled in and it has been on my hit list too, so problem solved! We walked over to check it out to kill the time. The backyards are all open, so you can just walk over from the back. As a mother of 2 children, this is a PERFECT play date meet up place. Their backyard is huge and is equipped with Adirondack chairs and playhouses and apparatuses. So much room for the kids to run around and release all that energy. They also have a nice sizeable front yard, but it's pretty bare. I think it's just meant to look pretty from the street with a cute picket fence and just wild flowers. Inside, you'll find an old 2-storey house that is decorated beautifully with different rooms. Not sure if the upstairs is free to use. Didn't think to go up there. They also have a nice porch to enjoy. Just a cool vibe (see pics)! We didn't get any food, because we were going to eat shortly at The Bee, but I did notice they have limited food choices. They had some baked goods that looked delish in the display case. I had a Iced Chai which was yummy, but I did think it was a little heavy on the ice, so I'll ask for light ice next time! They also have a drive through section of the porch, close to the service counter which I thought was pretty neat and unique drive through "window". It's so freakin cozy here! This was always a bit of a drive for me, but always worth the trip. It feels like you're over at a friend's house. You order and get your food/bev in the kitchen area and then have the rest of the house to enjoy. They rent certain rooms for parties and there was almost always some kind of baby shower type event happening when I was there on the afternoons. My favorite spot was always on the porch on nice mornings. It's right next door to Bee and the Biscuit so it's a great place to hang out before or after you enjoy brunch at the Bee. A latte takes the edge off if you have one too many mimosas. Not that I've personally experienced that of course. ;-) The menu is small, but definitely specialized. My daughter ordered a sandwich. My son ordered a PB&J that was made with homemade peanut butter and two types of fresh made jelly served on a ciabatta roll. It was really good. Looooved my coffee date I had here with a friend! This place has the most fun, hipster farmhouse-turned-cafe feel you'll find anywhere. From the decor to the menu, they keep a theme and do it well. I had the honey lavender latte- it was so good! I expected to have more of a lavender extract/oil flavor, but this actually had real lavender petals on top! It was so fragrant. I've driven by here so many times, but never really noticed it. I always go right next door to the red barn or a few places down to bee and the biscuit. It had high reviews so I wanted to give it a try. It's in a cute old house with plenty of parking on gravel. You turn in right after the red barn before you come to the sawdust road sign. I ordered the honey lavender latte with the avocado toast. Both were just okay. I had to ask for more lavender because it wasn't quite heft enough for me. Even after the extra, I could have added more. I love lavender. I was a little disappointed when I opened my box of toast. The review pictures from other people show two pieces of toast, but I only got one. Not sure if my bread was bigger or what. Also, the taste was a little lacking. It has everything bagel seasoning and lemon, but I felt as if it were missing a little more oomph. I still ate it all though. I'd like to come back and try some other items. I had really high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, for me, it didn't go over so well. I had asked a local in Virginia Beach what was a good coffee shop nearby. They said that a place a lot of people liked to go to was Sawdust Road. It's a little on the outskirts of Virginia Beach in Pungo. When I first arrived I noticed that the location is a big white farm house. There is a lot of dirt road parking in the back, it is shared with other nearby mom and pop businesses. What really caught my eye was the big play ground set up behind the house. I had my 3 year old with me, and was glad there was somewhere she could run around and play. When I walked up to the door to enter a woman nearly ran into me. I thought she was trying to walk past me at first but it was her way of pushing me back out. "Sorry, we aren't letting any customers sit inside I am afraid. Because of Covid." she said in a passive aggressive voice. I thought the way she went about telling me was very unnecessary. You do not have to shove me out with your body. Also, not very 'six feet apart' standards for covid either. My boyfriend and I both ordered their signature sandwich along with a Iced Honey Lavender latte and a strawberry banana smoothie for my daughter. We did have to go inside the coffee shop a couple times to use their restroom. Every time we entered we were met with a bunch of people inside. Not just the workers but friends of the workers. Absolutely none of them, at any time we used the restroom, greeted us with a "Hello" or a smile. You would think that paying customers would be treated a lot better. Especially seeing as I had a daughter and they had their own children running around inside. The inside interior was very cute. Very rustic farm house type. Set up for Christmas, yet I wondered why since customers were not allowed inside. Maybe for their own. Their toilet however was very disgusting and defiantly needs some mold clean and bacteria clean up. I can understand them forgetting on one sandwich but both? On their SIGNATURE sandwich? I called them on my phone and told them what happened. There was a long pause from their end which followed with a "Okay, we will bring some out.." A few minutes later a worker brought a paper bag out and handed it to my boyfriend and said, "Here you go." and walked away. No apology, no empathy, just "Okay." Not acknowledging your mistakes or apologizing is extremely rude. The sandwich was plane and it's a good thing I requested for the salty prosciutto because that's the only thing that gave that sandwich any flavor. My daughters smoothie tasted very thick but not in a good way. Tasted like a smoothie that had been siting out for to long. The lavender latte was even worse. Tasted of straight ginger ale when you would first sip it and an aftertaste of perfume. I looked on Instagram and this is a spot where people like to come for their photos. They also sell shirts, local peanut butter and bug spray and some other goodies (I took pics) inside. The menu has a nice mix of food items for everyone, overnight oats, parfaits, salads, sandwiches, cookies and scones. They have tons of coffee drinks and teas and fresh berry lemonades as well. I chose an iced chai for my first "coffee" drink with house-made almond milk - it was pretty weak as far as flavor and was really watery - maybe the ice melted too quickly. I didn't enjoy it. I'm going to try a warm drink next time and see how I feel. I chose the charred caesar salad and the signature sandwich with a bag of chips. The signature is roasted turkey, prosciutto, gruyere cheese, arugula and aioli on toasted bread. So delicious and light. Loved it. Really great flavor. ' They have some specials of the day (like dessert or sandwiches made from local goodies from farms in the area which had peaches when we were inside) on a board by the cashier stand. My girlfriends and I came for coffee after breakfast next door but I tell you what! (Here's a secret. Ready?) Next time "next door" has a 2+ hour wait, this is the place to go! Everything being brought out to other customers looked scrumptious and delicious. The waffles, breakfast sandwiches, lattes, everything!! We all enjoyed our iced coffees. I opted for the Indian River and added hazelnut. Perfection! The girls here all so friendly and they're super fast preparing our drinks. Not sure where parking is at because we had valeted thru Bee & This Biscuit since we dined there first so all we did was walk over. What you're gonna love about Sawdust is that amount of seating and the variety of it, too. All unique and different. Gives the antique vibe that much more chicness and quirkiness. Everything about Sawdust Road was even more charming than I expected it to be. I had a wedding ceremony to attend a few minutes away, so I stopped in for a late lunch on a Tuesday. I was immediately greeted by a woman who I later discovered was the manager. I told her it was my long awaited first visit and she proceeded to suggest some of her favorite drinks and dishes. I was surprised by how many options there were and a huge fan of breakfast all day! I opted for the iced honey lavender latte (already decided upon in my head far before arriving) and the tomato caprese. Both were exquisite! The sandwich was messy in the best way and one of my favorite touches were the gold paper straws. It was also a huge bonus to have talked to the manager (bummed I forgot to ask her name) about their other shop (Battlegrounds in Chesapeake) and just make conversation for a few minutes. That always takes my experience and perception of the business up a huge notch! The shop/home itself is adorable. I was happy to have gone toward the end of the day when they weren't busy; I spent a few minutes walking around and checking out the upstairs. They utilize the space by selling eclectic items from local artisans and artists, including paintings, jars of peanut butter, cards, and knick knacks doubling as decorations. There is so much to look at and admire. I enjoyed the variety of seating options as well as the fun outdoor area designed for hangs in the warmer weather. The space isn't particularly optimized for doing work, but manageable. It was a little dark for me and just felt too cozy to want to be productive! However, it will be the first on my list to meet a friend over coffee or treat myself to a quiet afternoon away. This place had been on my list for a long time and it did not disappoint. This is definitely an old country home transformed into a gem! The owners turned it into a aesthetically pleasing and inviting coffee shop with food and pastry offerings. They also have an outdoor lounge area in their yard, front and back, for people to relax and enjoy the scenery. The parking area may seem confusing but there is plenty of parking behind the house. The exterior of the house looks beaten and weathered as they did not replace the siding or roofing, but the inside is beautifully decorated. They have couches and tables inside for guests but it may be a little cramped. We just ordered a honey lavender latte and a shot of espresso. It came out fairly quickly and we relaxed outside. The latte had a great lavender flavor and the shot of espresso is exactly what it was. It was a peaceful experience and we do plan to come back on a nice day like today. However, I went to use the restroom and unfortunately, the toilet bowl was stained brown with brown streaks. Talk about a off putting sight. I absolutely love this place. I try to convince anyone to go with me when I am in this area. Their coffee is so good and they have so many different/ unique options for flavored lattes. Every single food item I have ordered has been absolutely delicious also. My favorites are the Avo Toast and the Pimento B.E.C. (without the bacon). Everything just tastes so fresh. I recently ordered one of their smoothies for the first time, the Blackberry Cream, and immediately made my husband try it because it was so good. The building itself is charming. They have ample space and a quiet atmosphere. I wish Sawdust wasn't so far down the road from me! Sawdust is located in the heart of Pungo. They had a very similar feel to Farmhouse out in Kempsville. They turned a old home, into a cafe/bakery. Bring your phones fully charged, and a camera, they have plenty of picture perfect opportunities here! You place your order downstairs, and they usually bring it out to your table. The tables had enough space for you and a study buddy, or if you were working solo, enough space to sprawl all your work out. Upstairs you can tour the old home, and it even has some of the old furniture in it. I found some pictures too, which gave me some chills, but I absolutely loved how they preserved the everything. During COVID you have to order outside out on their porch, which I liked, because it limits the amount I'm in a confined space. The porch was a rustic farmhouse feel, with outside seating available. First-come, first-serve basis. Their lawn is an open-field! I wish i knew before I went, I would've brought my dog! They have benches out in their yard as well, and even a playground. Their menu was made to order, if you'd like, but also had the classic orders such as americanos, and lattes. I love when menus are made to order, just because you do have the option to order something kid-friendly if you needed to. They also had the regular cafe foods, like sandwiches, muffins, and scones. Such an amazing gem. Very quaint and full of surprises. This two story coffee shop is exactly what my daughter and I needed that day. The service was amazing and both employees were extremely friendly. Both my daughter and I got one of their signature coffees (the sawmill) and it was delicious. We both enjoyed it throughly. We also got their cinnamon bun but was not impressed with it. You can definitely tell it all homemade but I thought it was a little on the dry side. Overall we had a nice time and look forward to going again and trying something new. read more
