Cute vibes! I didn't realize that there's a coffee place next to the train tracks in Norfolk. Very rustic along with their nice outside swing. They have tons of seasonal coffees and their mocha with lavender is fantastic. Staff was polite and chill. Prices weren't too bad. I was sad because they used to have a burrito for breakfast, but they did not have it during my time being there. Nonetheless, the place has good ambience and great food.

What a cute place! I loved the whole vibe of FR8! They even have chess you can play if you want. My iced coffee was very tasty - Honey and Lavender! The staff were very friendly and working hard to keep up with the busy crowd. I look forward to coming back to try some of their food and their cocktails. Nice location with a crafters market right outside. In the area? Check Them Out!

I've seen this location on social media so I was very excited to come try their coffee. I met my friend here and we decided to try their March flavors. I tried their lucky charm latte and I enjoyed how they put the lucky charm marshmallows. It was very festive. The drink wasn't as sweet but the coffee taste wasn't overpowering. It was a perfect balance. We couldn't order food since their oven was down so we just had coffee. The owner was nice and just happy to be there. I enjoyed his excitement because it was very welcoming. There's so many places to sit at. We sat outside since the weather was nice and it's very clean inside. I definitely can't wait to go back to try their food menu.

I have been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while and finally got a chance to try it today. It was nice inside and a lot of people working and sitting having their coffee. I got the Golden hour iced Latte and it was really good. I also got an apple danish and it was delicious. I will definitely be back to try the Coconut Mocha latte.

Third time here. Came at around 6:30pm, nice time of the evening where sun is down, slight breeze. Inside there weren't pastries on display anymore, but they close at 9pm so I wish they still had the pastries out! I ordered Orange honey latte. It was good. Great thing is that replenished their loyalty punch card so I can earn 9th beverage free!

Long line but expected on a busy Saturday. Staff were moving fast through the line and orders so we got our drinks and snacks in a timely manner. Two iced drinks and small lunch to go which was very tasty and well needed. Place was packed inside, but very welcoming. During our visit there was a farmers market outside with stalls with local sellers. Really enjoyed this visit, definitely coming back.

My Yelp friends and I met at Fr8 House around 11 AM on a Sunday and to my surprise, the place was already packed by the time I got there. As I waited for others to show up, I headed to the counter to decide on what to order. I decided on the Buttery Crumb Cake, the John Henry Burrito, an Espresso Martini, a Georgia Peach Fizz, and a Caramel Latte. Yes, it was all for me lol! I like trying all the things lol! I found a few open seats near a lady working and thankfully, she graciously let us join her since there wasn't any other available seats. I started with the drinks; the Espresso Martini was okay. It wasn't bad, I've just had better elsewhere. The Georgia Peach Fizz was very delicious and refreshing, and the Caramel Latte was pretty good. Just FYI, they use pasta as straws to be environmentally friendly but they do get soft. The John Henry Burrito was absolutely fantastic. It was fresh, flavorful, and even better with the two sauces that came with it. Unfortunately, my friends didn't receive both sauces with their burritos, so I'm not sure if they ran out or if it was an inconsistency issue. The Crumb Cake was okay, I wasn't overly impressed. While we were there, a vendor was selling permanent jewelry, which I thought was a cool addition. On our way out, we asked the owner if they had any punch cards for a free coffee or drink and he happily hand-made some punch cards for us, which I thought was nice. If Fr8 House wasn't so far from me, I'd be a regular, especially for that burrito. Definitely check them out if you're in the area. Thankfully, they have a nice outdoor area as well, in the case the inside is full.

FR8 Coffeehouse Review - A Whole Vibe on Track Featured in Sippin' Sundays If you're looking for a coffeehouse with bougie energy, stunning aesthetics, and space to unwind or get work done, FR8 Coffeehouse in Norfolk is the move. The Vibe: This place is super cute. Tons of seating inside and out--perfect for checking emails, journaling, or just sipping and people-watching. That front deck? Obsessed. You can really post up and stay a while. Dog Friendly: YES. Lexi got all the love. They are very dog-friendly which instantly puts them in our favorite category. Espresso Martinis: Let's talk signature sips. These are strong, smooth, and slightly bougie--just the way I like it. A little on the pricey side, but worth it for a weekend treat. Definitely something I'd go back for. Pastries: I tried a chocolate hazelnut croissant and a cinnamon hazelnut bear claw. Cute, but neither was a standout. If a pastry doesn't leave a memory, I'm probably not grabbing it again. Breakfast Burritos: My friends tried them and gave them chef's kiss reviews. They're flavorful and filling--definitely something I'll grab next time. Seasonal Specials: They had a watermelon juice on the menu that sold out before I could grab it. Rookie mistake not ordering it first. If they have a special, don't wait. Cookies: Wanted to love them, but the price didn't match the size, so I passed. Maybe next time. Eco-Friendly Touch: One thing I LOVED--they use pasta noodles as straws. So much better than soggy paper straws and a great environmentally-friendly switch. Major bonus points. Final Verdict: FR8 is one of my new favorite spots--from the vibe to the drinks to the dog-friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely be back. If you haven't been, add it to your must-visit Please keep in mind it's a little on the pricey side.

Went here around 11 AM on a Sunday to meet up with some friends. This was my first time trying out this spot and I loved the atmosphere and setup of the inside. It was pretty packed and busy around this time, but we were able to get seats at the couch area near the entrance. Unfortunately there were quite a few items out of stock on the menu that originally caught my eye, but I was able to still try some decent items. I got the John henry burrito (7/10) my burrito didn't come pre-cut in half and I later found out that it was supposed to come with sauces on the side which I wasn't given or informed of by the staff. I also tried the peach fizz drink (9/10) it was really refreshing and yummy. I totally see myself returning again, especially to try their alcoholic drinks. Also, right before leaving, the owner gave us handmade punch cards to get free items for making purchases / returning in the future. They had ran out of their original, physical punch cards, so I was thankful he honored making handmade ones for us. My overall rate of experience : 8/10

Came here to meet some gals from Yelp and the space is very charming. I ordered the Georgia Peach Fizz drink and the John Henry breakfast burrito. My total came out to $21 for the 2. I recommend visiting early as I went at 11AM on a Sunday and they were out of most of their baked goods, a couple drinks, one of the burritos, sauce and punch cards. It's pretty spacious but there wasn't many places to sit inside as there were plenty of people there. They give out large pasta noodles as straws which is different and cheeky but not ideal if you are a slow drinker like myself. The pasta noodle started to break at the top and got soggy at the bottom. I do see it as a cool way to cut down on plastics though. My drink was very refreshing and sweet. I believe they come in a standard size as it was pretty sizable and I wasn't asked a size preference. I loved that the drink had fresh peach slices in it which shows care and extra craft put in. The burrito was soooooo good it had ham, sausage, egg, cheese and potato's but the star of the show was the sauces which were bold in flavor. I was only given one sauce but one of my friends got both that it comes with in hers so I was able to try it thankfully. Overall I enjoyed my time and am looking forward to coming back eventually (hopefully when it's a bit slower) to actually try the coffee offerings and more food.

I will admit , this place is quite LITERALLY a hidden gem. I entered the building on the most outer part and was so confused until I did some exploring around the building and found the sign. The area is perfect for studying and remote work as it is super quiet and relaxed. I ordered: A barista made Matcha; She added Vanilla and Rose with Oatmilk. Made to absolute perfection! Sometimes I stray away from getting a matcha just because places do more milk than matcha for my liking, but my barista definitely did me right! Will definitely be back!

If you or your kids like trains, this is a fantastic café that centers on that theme and is right next to train tracks where you'll see a few trains pass. They have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor and is along the way of a walking trail. It's situated in a more peaceful area which is a nice break from the bustle of Norfolk city. Aside from coffee and tea, they also sell pastries, coffee beans, and merchandise. They also sell cocktails and start selling them bright and early (7AM) if you fancy a morning buzz. This place was extremely tidy, and I especially loved that the women's bathroom had a dedicated baby changing station room! The staff were really friendly and we got to meet one of the owners (Jack) who was extremely nice and accommodating and was also working hard while we were there! We will definitely be coming back!

Love the vibe of this coffee shop and it's a great addition to the ODU area. The coffee was strong but smooth and the syrups were yum. The day I went, there was a pop up "permanent" jewelry shop where you can get the trendy forever jewelry. I take it there will be many more pop ups like this. They also offer pastries that you can enjoy with your coffee too. It's a cool place to hang out. Definitely will be back!

There's now a security table/desk where the DJ booth used to be; definitely wasted space where more tables and chairs could've been added instead. Had to stand for about 10 mins before some people finally left then we had to like "hurry" to get the seats before anyone else got them. We needed an extra chair at our table and went up to the security to ask if he knew where anymore could be or if we could borrow the one that was behind his table since he seemed to only be standing all night, but he responded kind of harsh with a stern "NO"....def unnecessary. Even though he was rude, the bartenders were the opposite, making funny light conversation and friendly while we ordered and waited for our drinks. The atmosphere was a nice, chill, and intimate vibe, with red/orange lighting. To drink: I tried the Saturn (8/10) it was pretty good, I liked the flavor, but there really didn't seem to be much alcohol in it fr. To eat: we ordered a Margherita Pizza and added Pepperoni (10/10) it was fresh, flavorful, and all around really good. There were hints of spice in the sauce that really added to the flavors. Their pizza seems to be a popular menu item as I seen pizza boxes on almost every table throughout the night. Def will be back again, but next time, we're going to get there early, so we can have a table for the night. Looked like once people secured themselves a table in here, they held it all night long and never moved / left till closing. My overall rate of experience : 7.5/10

We went out for acid fish which was a pop mediterranean raw fish experience, and they delivered all the way through with the combination of fish as well as the flavor profile of each and how the presentation is. You just immediately are very pleased with everything I would recommend trying them out when they come through again and they do pop in quite frequently at this lounge and this was my first time ever trying them out and I'm very pleased of the service as well as the introduction of each component of the dish, the cooks were very friendly, as well as given us guidance of what choices to choose from based off of the menu. The menu does change each time they do come so items that you will see will vary, depending on what they are putting on for the menu. We try their Sicilian sashimi that was definitely a 10 out of 10 and good for people that want to kind of share rather than have a full plate is definitely well proportion as well as light and not too heavily in on the pallet. The vibes vary from day to day depending on what time you get there it can get really packed so the earlier the better if you want more of a calm night I would suggest getting there early rather later cause that is usually when the dj that are going on that night come in that's usually there peak time. The drinks are well crafted I tried their cocktail called Saturn it had a sweet taste and was more of tropical with the passion fruit perfect pairing with the raw fish dish we tried tonight. If you're looking for a spot that has more of chill vibe and has good music with different styles and beats each day this is the place for you.

This lead to a slower service which actually worked out well for our group. We didn't mind the gaps. We found ourselves in downtown Norfolk and opted for dinner at Gershwin's on Granby Street…read more Gershwin's continues to deliver a polished dining experience, pairing New Orleans-inspired cuisine with attentive, professional service. It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. The Creole sauce offers a restrained heat, balanced by a layered depth of flavor that speaks to careful preparation rather than excess. The shrimp are properly cooked, retaining a delicate snap, while the stone-ground grits provide a well-seasoned, creamy foundation. Each component is thoughtfully prepared, and together they form a cohesive dish that feels both composed and satisfying--an authentic nod to Cajun tradition without unnecessary embellishment. Gershwin's stands as a reliable fixture in the downtown dining scene. For those seeking a refined take on Southern and New Orleans classics, it is well worth the visit--and a strong example of the quality found within Norfolk's local restaurant community.

If this restaurant was in an area that was even moderately competitive they would have been put out of business. The bar seems adequate but it was almost like they stopped serving food and forgot to tell anyone. I swear I'm not making this up, this actually happened: 1) it took over 2.5 hours for the entrees to come out. One came out so early that by the time the second set came out they were already done. 2) The only appetizer that was ordered that actually came out, arrived after the entree was done. 3) One person's order had to be changed 5x because the waiter kept coming back to say they're out. When his pork chop finally arrived, it was undercooked and not eatable. 4) Nothing was offered in any way as a comp, nor any real apology If you go, be wary. There is no way they were this thoroughly incompetent in every single aspect of the food services industry without practice.
